This cozy restaurant is very closed to our hotel in Amsterdam and we were so surprised for an excellent treat of foods and services. We got a private room for dinner and went for the 3-course meal option. The choose for the main courses are either lamp or fish. Oh my. There are restaurants and then there are dining experiences. This was amazing. I won't tell the story of how I got to eat here or how the chef whipped up an impromptu dinner for 25, but OMG, this was a dining experience of the highest caliber. What a TREAT! The reviews I had read for this restaurant or five stars, which in itself is some of the rarity. I spoke with the restaurant owner, and discussed that I needed a fully vegan menu for myself and my partner. As they do pre-set menus, I thought was appropriate to ensure that there are no surprises on arrival. We were greeted by knowledgeable and reassuring staff. Shown to a table. Immediately the ambiance in the restaurant was quite delightful. The aperitif was a perfect sparkling wine from Luxembourg. The pre-first course offering, was a true delight, it was a pumpkin soup poured at table with fresh vegetables floating in the bottom of the bowl. An absolute taste sensation. The rest of the courses were offered at regular well delivered intervals. No urgency - no rush a and we felt we were very well looked after. All their suggested Wine pairings were simply perfect. The delivery of each dish was perfect- a descripton of the dish with an explanation of how it was Produced increased its impact, and ultimate taste of the dishes were quite beyond compare! Our wines were topped up, and water replenished almost without notice. Each dish was better than the last dish. All in all completely overwhelming vegan meal never eaten so well. One if my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam! First it is extremely good food for a reasonnable price. A three- course menu will cost you about 38€ and you get the choice to get up to 7 courses. The menu changes often and uses seasonal ingredients. You enjoy real quality. This cuisine is fine and delicate French style. There is quite a lot of creativity, yet it only sublimes the taste of the main ingredients. The selection of cheese is always a plus offering a combinaton of dutch and French delicacies. The place is nicely decorated and has about 10 to 12 tables... with a "cuisine ouverte" i.e. an open kitchen. It makes the place super welcoming and eyeing on the chef and his team cooking makes the experience even more enjoyable. Service is friendly and efficient. To be very honest this place deserves a Michelin star! Don't hesitate book now!!!! read more

Definitely one of the best restaurants I've ever been!! I love Jaspers! I'm a new Yelper and first thing I did was searching Jaspers. Everything is beyond perfect. Food, ambience and service... It's a small restaurant with very friendly, polite waiters and fantastic food. Also Jasper comes to your table to welcome you and check if you need anything else. In Amsterdam, the culinary scene has plenty of food hell (Bar Italia, any Argentinian Steakhouse) food purgatory (Il Cavallino, Restaurant Simple ) and several places that qualify as food heaven, which brings me to the subject of this review, Jaspers. I first visited Jaspers a couple of weeks after it had opened, my expectations were low, as new restaurants often have teething problems, and was pleasantly surprised at the superb food, engaging and professional service and the quality of the wine list. I've been visiting this place at least five or six times a year ever since and am in full agreement with my fellow Yelpers about what a wonderful place Jaspers really is. What you have is superb service which starts from the moment you walk through the door. I never choose wine when I eat there, such is my faith in the ability of their outstanding sommelier. The food is plated and presented in such a way that wouldn't be out of place in a michelin star establishment. Indeed I would hope and expect them to receive a star in the near future as they really are providing food, service and ambience that is in the same league as most one star places I've eaten in. The price quality ratio is fully in balance, indeed I would have no problem paying more (don't tell them) considering the quality of the food. Jaspers is diamond sat on a bed of coal in the Pijp. This place is of top quality and is a true gem to visit. My wife and I and friends had a five course meal paired with wines which offered a unique blend of palettes and tastes. The service staff was patient and very knowledgeable and really loved their careers. The chef / owner Jasper himself served us our opening bottle of champagne and continued to check on our service. My husband took me to Jasper's while we were visiting the Netherlands last January. We ordered a 7 course meal, chef's choice. The food was exquisite! Jasper himself came out to see how we liked everything and it really was such a treat. My favorite was the scallops, but it was hard to choose between all the delicious dishes. The service was very attentive without being overbearing and it was fun to watch the Chef and cooks work in the open kitchen. We will definitely be back next time we visit the Netherlands! We were warmly welcome by the chef (Jaspers) at the table who introduced the dishes. Went with 3-course option for dinner. Pappadams and bread to start with. Amuse Bouche: Shrimp tartare in bouillabaisse in a cup. Excellent. Course 1: Plaice (white fish) with quail egg, tomato, greens Course 2: One of us had oysters with foam of coconut and ginger. Another dish was pumpkin soup with crispy waffles. Course 3: Red snapper with polenta cube, mushroom paste Course 4: Hazelnut semolina with blackberry's meringue, cream patissier, buttermilk sorbet We had coffee. Finally a place with great coffee! DH and I chose to celebrate our wedding anniversary here while visiting Amsterdam and it was definitely one of the best decisions we made. Although formal attire is not required, this restaurant is fairly fancy and the excellent service definitely shows for it. The menu, which changes every 2 weeks, includes 3 courses with options to add up to another 3 more (usually appetizer, soup, or cheese). We started off first with some amuse bouche and a small miso soup, and let me just say it was the best miso soup I've had! Then we both had the corn chowder with avocado which was delicious and beautifully presented. For the entree, DH had the lamb while I had the red snapper, both of which were perfectly cooked and portioned. We ended the night with chocolate mousse and rosehip ice cream. Overall, everything about the meal was perfect. We had also gotten the wine pairing by the sommelier and I must say it is the best wine pairing I've had. Not only were the drinks delicious but they actually paired with different aspects of each course. I absolutely love this place and will definitely recommend it! Tip: Make a reservation in advance! They only do one seating a night, but you can choose whatever time you want to arrive and that table will be yours all night! read more
