Today, I was assisted by an older gentleman working as a cashier; he spoke to me rudely, essentially telling me--in a very unprofessional manner--to place my items on the counter so he could ring them up, even though that is *his* job. He did the exact same thing to my mother; when he checked her out, he was incredibly rude and racist. He didn't hand her the receipt or her membership card directly; instead, he just left them sitting on the counter for her to pick up herself. They need to hire people who actually enjoy working--not elderly individuals who are rude and inconsiderate.

I brought it up to management and customer service and they were nonchalant. Their response was well any items lost will be kept into a lock box and brough to customer service. In that location is the pharmacy, which has been closed for quite some time...My phone is suddenly turned off therefore tracking has been limited. No calls to date from the store. We politely declined and we were met with looks and sneers. Then, a second set of third party vendors approached to ask "have you gotten your 50.00 gift card today?" I pay money for the privilege to shop here, only to have these people interrupting my experience by trying predatory sales tactics to trick and or bully us into signing up for whatever they happen to be selling. This is not something anyone should be experiencing. This is no longer acceptable as a business practice. For the good of your business, it would be best to relegate them to a corner they cannot leave from, or get rid of this aggressive and duplicitous brand of marketing all together. Thank you

Sweet Life Foods is a dumpy little grocery warehouse on Avocado Street, a gritty little dead-end…read moreindustrial street tucked out by the river in Springfield's North End. It's nothing fancy, inside or out a low-slung steel warehouse that shows it's age. The aisles are rough warehouse shelves and there are no fancy displays, just cut cases of goods with the prices indicated by a label on the edge of the shelf. Inside, you'll find aisle upon aisle of canned goods, packaged snacks, wholesale boxes of candy, Goya products - virtually everything you would need to stock a small neighborhood convenience store or bodega. Items are sold, for the most part, by the wholesale unit, case, or half-case only. If you're buying for a store, a lunch wagon, an event, or maybe a large family you'll find Sweet Life Foods handy. If not, you might still want to stop for things like lunchbox snacks, food storage wraps and things, or the office candy bowl. Prices are generally on the low side, but as is true no matter where you shop, know your prices before you go in. Many times local supermarket sale prices are lower per item than the wholesale case prices here. Cash, debit and credit cards accepted (I don't know about checks, sorry.) The employees are friendly and helpful. Interesting bit of trivia: The actual name of the business is Cash & Carry #0830 and they are owned by SuperValu, the same company that owns Save-A-Lot discount supermarkets. They took on the "Sweet Life" name because they're in the old Sweet Life Quality Foods distribution warehouse, and when Sweet Life went out of business years ago they never took down the old, 1960's-era sign over the front door.

The person who took my order over the phone was great and helpful. I explained I would be there at 345 to pick up my order. No problem he said. I got there and waited. It would not be a concern at all if I didn't observe 2 people over by the meat cases standing there looking at me. No comment or welcome. No hello. Just kept ignoring me while they occasionally glanced over pretending not to see me. There were 3 other people on the meat area where they cut it up. 2 lounging against the door frames and one who appeared to be cleaning everything while the other 2 looked on. Teamwork at its finest. They also saw me and ignored me as well. After a while I asked if there was anyone not busy standing around who could just hand me my order. The guy who was pretending not to see me came over. No apology or thank you. Nothing. Not a word. The cashiers and front end staff are consistently great. Very welcoming and friendly. This was the first time I went in on a Saturday. Not typical of the service I get. I paid 346.00 for my order. Will never go back on a Saturday again. I think your cashiers should probably teach Customer Service skills to your back room. I left there totally irritated.

I don't expect anybody to guess or even necessarily understand my gender identity, but it is a good rule of thumb that if somebody is wearing a full face of makeup, a skirt, and jewelery that they probably do not want to be seen as or referred to as a man.
