There is so much fabric, I can find things here I can't find anywhere else. It's a great place for upholstery fabric and supplies. I've ordered twice from their online store - both times during the pandemic. The first order I placed spring of 2020 and it took forever to arrive. I think I waited 4 weeks. The second order I placed about a month ago and it arrived very quickly! It's not a store for everybody. If you are expecting a totally organized, neat as a pin store, you may well be disappointed. If you enjoy walking in and being immediately in awe of the sheer amount and different types of fabric and enjoy exploring, it's a treasure trove. This is the same company that operates Online Fabric Store. Over the years I have been a good customer for upholstery fabric. In January I ordered some muslin which was backordered for several weeks and then arrived with dirty brown marks on it. I requested a refund. I have emailed or called several times and they keep saying the refund is being processed or something but it's over a month now. We drove to osgoods today from where we live in northwest Connecticut 90 minutes away. We left after half on hour due to appalling service. There was one guy "helping" people in the entire store. I grade this store a 1 star I was shock how this establishment is even running, once I walked in the establishment with my husband no one greater us or even ask if we needed help the young man on the front desk just looked at us like we was crazy immediately my husband said this how the run this establishment I said I guess so. OK .... so this is 4 stars since it's my first real big fabric store that I searched ... More to come when I visit NYC!!! So, I am making my wedding dress, and I am on a journey to find fabrc to construct the dress. There are NO fabric stores that carry bridal fabric anymore .... stores just can't keep with the bridal fabric sales ... sad :/ but I can see how and why. Anyways, the store is huge! Or maybe lots of fabric stores are like this? This is no Jo-Anns .... Jo-Anns is like streamline typical fabric that does not have the "wow" to it. Osgoods gave me a good wow! So all their fabric is organized with the various types of fabric (silk, polys, satins, laces, cottons, etc). They have a lot of home dec fabrics ... insane! And those are organized by style and also by designer. They have a small section in their store with home furnishings that are sold as is. Some unique pieces there! They also sell Hunter Douglas blinds ... love their blinds ... might have to pick some up! The bridal fabric selection is slim.... but that could be to my bridal fabric goals .... BUT their lace selection is great and better average pricing .... anywhere from 75-150 a yard for some real nice alencon :) LOVE alencon! ... so overall, good place! A little out there in location, and they do have restrooms. MMMmmmm, and other than that store, I was a little afraid of the Springfield areas ... ! lol read more

I placed an order for my clothing business on May 21, got a confirmation number, and now three weeks later, I am still waiting for my order. There has been no response from three emails, 5 calls (where I have been on hold for over an hour each time with no pick up from customer service), and two messages, and two attempts at tracking. If you know your fabrics, Osgood's Textiles is a sewer's/upholsterer's dream come true. I grew up in Western Mass and remember coming to Osgood's with my mother when it was on Osgood Street in Springfield. I lived for 30 years in the New Jersey. I have shopped in New York City for fabric. Osgood's Textiles has a vast selection of well-priced fabric, competitive to any fabric store I have been in. Do not expect any hand-holding here. You need to know what you are looking for. If you are an insecure fabric shopper, perhaps you could bring an experienced sewer with you. I have frequently seen interior designers shopping with clients, assisting their fabric choices. If you are doing it on your own, bring paint samples, fabric samples, or other colors in the room to use as a reference point. I find this helps. Please note that the remnant selection is ample and a real bargain - most of the remnants are upholstery or fabric for window treatments. I would like to mention a few of my favorite Osgood fabrics - I love their embroidered sheers and embroidered linens (off the bolt) They also have a large selection of sheers for window treatments, and a huge selection of upholstery fabric. There is a good ( but smaller ) selection of apparel fabrics - knits, woolens, silks among others. Their selection of linens in every weight is impressive. My most recent trip to Osgood's was this afternoon when I bought a yard of heavy weight linen ( I am going to use it to reupholster a small bench in my bedroom ) for $2.39 from the remnant section. Other recent purchases include sheer fabric to make living room sheers, and a loose weave linen for a window treatment in a bedroom. The employees at Osgood Textiles have always been courteous to me. They will answer your questions, if possible. Plan on spending some time here - the selection is huge and it takes a while to see everything. Remember, this is a large, open space with a concrete floor and rows and rows of fabric. It saddens me that there are so many negative reviews here. Do not do business here. Dishonest and bad customer service. They sent me the wrong fabric which was not evident on the roll but very evident once it made it onto the couch. I've had to dispute the charge because they refuse to make the situation right. Their mistake and acting like they did nothing. Just the worst customer service. To be honest, this is actually a review of Osgood's online store, Online Fabric Store. I ordered fabric from them over a week ago, and I still have not received it. Since it is only going from Springfield to Boston, I expected to have it within 4 - 5 days. The tracking info that they sent me has constantly changed. For the past few days, the status has been "out for delivery", but I still have not received it. After wasting 30 minutes of my workday on hold with the USPS, I learned that the shipping department at Osgoods / Online Fabric Store only listed the name of my street on the shipping label - no recipient name or street number. So, it has been sitting at the post office for the past 4 days, because USPS does not have complete delivery information. I called customer service at Online Fabric Store about this today, and they offered NOTHING for this serious oversight on their part. I explained that this fabric is for a professional project with a tight deadline, and that their oversight now means that I have an angry client, and lots of late nights to put in once I finally DO receive the fabric. A professional company would have offered to send a second shipment overnight at a reduced cost, or to refund my original purchase price. Instead, the customer service representative just said, in a very sarcastic tone, "Is that all? Do you have anything more to say?" I am a professional seamstress, and run a very busy costume shop in the Boston area. I order literally thousands of dollars worth of fabric every year. (Sometimes tens of thousands) I usually use more reputable companies in New York, like B&J Fabrics, Mood, and NY Elegant. I took a chance with Osgood's online store, and it was a BIG mistake. I'm begrudgingly rounding up from 2.5 stars. My mother and I visited this past weekend, in search of a couple of specific things. I'd heard good things about Osgood's selection and was looking forward to the trip, but we left empty-handed. We needed velvet ribbon, and approached a saleswoman to find out where to look. She seemed irritated that we'd asked her a question, and responded curtly that they don't carry that type of thing. (We found this a little odd, considering the place is huge and we weren't asking for the Shroud of Turin. But whatever.) We looked around on our own a bit, and later approached the same saleswoman with another question about a different type of fabric. She treated us as though we were daft for asking the question, and gave another curt response. Barely a wave in the direction of what we were looking for. So, minus points for blatant disinterest in providing customer service. Osgood's does have an extraordinary selection of fabric, but I found that a lot of it was sort of old and even dirty. Other sections of the store were in much better condition, but they'd do well to ditch the fabric that clearly hasn't been touched in decades and streamline their operation. While I'd recommend Osgood's for its selection, the customer service was pretty abysmal. read more

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! you won't be able to find the fabrics you find here anywhere else. Quality and reasonable pricing. I sew my own clothes and literally travel from Richmond VA to West Springfield to get fabric (and also to visit my parents but mostly osgoods!). This isn't your average fabric store. This place has been around forever and they have a lot of unique fabrics that won't be remade anymore. Staff has always been super nice to me, but there's like a billion different fabrics so they dont know every single fabric and washing instructions, etc....duh. Go in with an open attitude and take your time exploring and touching all the incredible fabrics. Also...the best linen section I've ever seen. SO GOOD. ugh. I love this place. read more

I am from WMass and have been coming here for as long as I remember, when it used to be on Osgood Street in Springfield. If you are a sewer, brace yourself, because this place is phenomenal. Just hearing "Osgoods" makes my heart race a little. That said, I was brought up on this kind of wholesale fabric warehouse versus retail shops like The Fabric Place or Joanne's. So I am used to having to look over a huge inventory to find what I want at a bargain. And if you are that kind of sewer, you have truly found your Mecca. If you are not a sewer, you might be overwhelmed because the store is organized by fabric type and it is GI-NORMOUS. If you need assistance from a salesperson as to what type of fabric to use for a project, the salespeople can be rather curt. But they really are not mean people. I have watched the owner over the years hire local minorities from Springfield who have become long-term employees, and I really appreciate that. If you get the chance to go, it is truly of the last great fabric places I know of for real sewers. I thought it could not possibly be better than anything in NYC, but I just came back from there and was shocked at how little New Yorkers have in the way of fabric stores. (Or did I miss something? Please reply to let me know.) Unlike Mood, Osgoods offers remnants. TONS AND TONS of them on tables. Many are designer -- you have to pick through, of course -- and many come in ample lengths. At Mood, I asked where the remnants were and they pointed to a 20" x 18" cardboard BOX under a table. Ha ha. Doesn't hold a candle to Osgoods, my sewer friends! read more

I have visited this huge warehouse only three times but I was delighted by their huge selection. Their prices were great of course. As far as having someone to ask questions of..well that wasn't their forte..but I am a pretty sturdy gal and don't mind finding things myself. I also spent almost as much money on other items that I wasn't expecting them to carry. My niece and I are going to shop there Sunday...weather permitting and I know she will love it. I can truly say you can't please everyone..so don't try. Just give the public a great selection and great prices and in the end that's what we want. I am getting married in November, and my soon-to-be Mother in Law is an amazingly talented seamstress and is making my dress. She lives in Florida, so when she came up this past week we knew we had limited time to find fabric for my wedding dress. We had already purchased the lace when she was up a few months ago, so were only looking for the bottom half of the dress, and I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted (but something along the lines of silk/taffeta/etc.) We had to do a lot of running around from place to place to find the lace, so I was nervous about finding a place that would have the right fabric that we needed (60 inches wide, etc.) Keep in mind that I live in Eastern, Ma - about 30 mins from Boston. So, I was set on making sure we had a plan of attack and wouldn't waste the day I took off from work to find fabric. I was SO EXCITED when I found the Osgood's website - it claims "legions" of bridal fabric, and it sounded & looked like the perfect place. I figured we were better off going to one place that had a bridal section than 7 places that might have something. Wrong. So myself, my mother and my mother-in-law drove an hour and 45 minutes to West Springfield and walk in and it looks fabulous! Everything looks so neat & organized, and the place truly is huge. Lots of cars in the parking lot, everything seems great! Then we ask for the bridal department, and we're shown to an area of utter disarray waaaay off the beaten path. There is no 60-inch wide taffeta. The 60-inch wide silks are piled randomly all over the place and DIRTY. Then I went to ask an associate for assistance, and she brought me back to the same area we were in and she said "This is it" and ran away. I also asked an associate "Do you work here?" as I was looking for the restroom, and she whizzed past me and said "Unfortunately I do, but I have about 6 customers ahead of you, so sit tight". Ok? This was a Wednesday around 1:30 pm, and I saw about 6 other people in the store. Hardly busy enough for an attitude. We drove an hour and a half back to Eastern Ma, ended up going to the same place we went for the lace (Sew-Fisticated in Somervile) and found EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. Somerville is a 25 minute drive from our house. Osgood's was a complete waste of time & gas, the staff was no help and their website was VERY misleading. I will say they had a fairly large collection of lace, but since I already had mine it was useless. It also says on the website that they have rhinestones, beading, tiaras (ewwww), guest books etc. but I didn't see anything along those lines either. My wife and I were looking for material for four chairs to be reupholstered in our living room. We arrived at Osgoods on Sunday afternoon after taking numerous swatches home for the weekend and ordered 10 yards of material, 5 of two different fabrics which was special order. The woman at the counter placed our order and deposit and told us we would have the material in 7-10 business days. It's has been a month, and still no material. An Osgood Textiles representative told after the first 10 days that one of the fabrics was on back order, the other would be in the first of the next week. By the middle of that week, receiving no calls from them I inquired a second time to be told a different story, that the materials would be another two weeks. I happened to take a photo of the mill that produced the fabric and called them directly, the conversation that took place was that they did a fair amount of business with Osgoods, but that they hadn't received any orders from them in a month. After speaking with the owner Bob and pressing him on my conversation with the mill he admitted that the order had not been placed and apologized. He told me that he would personally take care of ordering my material and that it would be an additional two weeks. He called me this morning after the two weeks to explain the material was not loaded on the truck and that he would not receive it for an additional week. So in the end our order will take five weeks, our upholsterer will not be able to complete the job before Christmas and I have received a verbal "we are sorry" and nothing else. I would suggest you find another vendor to buy your fabrics, blinds, etc., as the staff and owner will lie too your face, tell you whatever story they feel that will make them self look better, pass the blame onto a trucking company, mill manufacturer or the weather, and offer nothing in return for poor customer service. No organizational skills, and running a business like it was still the 1960's. Worse experience ever..... read more

If you really know your way around the fabric world and can self-shop, you will love the volume held within these towering rows and you'll do ok. But if you need a little help, you are going to have to be bold and search for it. Nothing is offered without a pursuit. You walk in the door here and not the slightest eye contact from one employee, much less HELLO Welcome, do you need help? Once you "catch" someone, they know the answers but you know their feet are pressed to the floor waiting to take off and it's a sinking feeling knowing you are going to be in for another round of wait and pursue. They need more help. They need someone who is not stationed at a desk to be walking the aisles offering assistance. They need their girls trained in the graces of customer service. Not that they are not nice for that brief interaction. It's just tooo brief and fleeting. Is this why we just buy everything online? read more

I ordered 8 yards of unbleached muslin from ONLINE FABRIC STORE in November of 2018. Two weeks later, I received 8 yards of Jute Erosion Control Netting instead. There was no packing slip in the box. I contacted Customer Service and after two weeks of the runaround from Afrika, I finally received return postage so I could ship the Jute Erosion Control Netting back. It is now January 26, 2019. I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED A REFUND FROM ONLINE FABRIC STORE, despite the fact that Online Fabric Store received the Jute Erosion Control two weeks ago, which was acknowledged by Afrika in Customer Service. When I complained AGAIN about not receiving a refund, Mayer Kahan promised I would receive it that night. I STILL DON'T HAVE A REFUND. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN NOR WILL I RECOMMEND THE ONLINE FABRIC STORE TO ANYBODY ELSE. I am going to register a complaint with the BBB too and see about taking them to small claims court. I cut my teeth on Osgood's and have watched the generations of family operation. When they moved to West Springfield from across the bridge, I had a brief regret that I had recently moved FROM West Springfield. Still, hunting for the right stuff every time I made it back through town was a highlight of every trip. The warehouse experience isn't for everyone, but for many of us, half the thrill is the sheer volume and the ability to spend hours without ever coming across the same bolt. Sooo, whether it's crafts or kids' costumes or draperies or upholstery for your boat, Osgood's will have what you need. You will get as much one on one as you need, but certainly not an ounce more. That's still more personal attention than I have had in the warehouse operations in Dallas or Phoenix or New York and the stock is 10 times what any other place offers. If you need to estimate needed yardage or know the appropriateness of a fabric for a project, or FIND something that you saw a scrap of somewhere, they will know. I miss them. read more
