(Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

In my first visit I ended up getting a nice rug for $100.00 the associate at the stairs brushed me off and referred me to talk to the office desk, a bit later I worked with Dina to get everything set for purchasing the rug. Turns out the rug won't be available until June 1st which is fine I'm patient and I don't need it immediately. With that working with Dina was great she was friendly, professional, and didn't make me feel rushed in checkout and made me want to come back. Then I came back today. My second visit was not great, or good, it was just bad. I went in saw 3 sales associates on the chairs upstairs on their phones and heard them talk about who's turn it is to get up. A minute later I get an associate who's name I cannot recall he did not give me a card or help with checkout. He essentially brushed me off while I looked for decor picked out a picture and vase which totaled $100.00 I got what I wanted then spoke with the sales associate who approached me before but he seemed annoyed and told me to go to the office desk. None of the associates said anything as they were buried in their phones. After I checked out I wanted to speak to a manager but saw he was busy with an elderly couple angry that they got a confirmation notice only to be told they are mistaken and they can't get what was confirmed. To summarize everything: -Dina is great and seems to be the exception to the staff, and the only person worth working with if you want to be treated like a customer and not a burden. - expect to see multiple employees on their phones annoyed by doing their job. - who ever is charge of notifications and the store itself are not communicating properly ( though this was not my issue personally it doesn't set a good tone for when I can expect my rug. If a Marketing rep or someone with the company reaches out I will be happy to provide my customer # and transaction info to verify I am not a bot or troll. We scheduled a visit to measure and quote the room. It was an odd shape, so he gave some different options that would cover 90% vs the whole room. In the end it was only like $250 more to go with total coverage of the area. No pressure on the sale, either, more giving pros and cons for each option. Installation day the crew called to inform they were on the way. From start to end it was done in about 4 hours. Everything looked really sharp which is impressive given all the weird corners a New England concrete basement can have.

Extremely disappointed. When quoted and measured, was told something that was not installed…read more Stated we wanted we wanted trim to look "exactly" like the other side! Was told sure we can do that. Then the installer said we can't after the floors were put in. How can you tell someone your going to do something they asked for and then after it's installed, told you can't. Lack of communication. Floors were not clipped together entirely. Dishwasher floor panel was ripped off and can't be put back on. Baseboard under cabinet was cracked in half. Door entrance flooring was cut too short so filled with caulking (could see mat cushioning). When did caulking noticeably enlarged gaps become professional work? Extremely frustrating. I asked the owner, who is a friend of my father to come take a look and see the work done, but sent his worker. Would never recommend. Living with it 5 months later, still disappointed. See pics
