It would be hard to find a better yarn store if you are any kind of knitting or crocheting crafter. I have been both since my nanny taught me to knit when I was about 5 years old. Since then, I have made hundreds of items, mostly knitting, but crocheting and weaving too. I have also woven my own textiles with a loom. So, when I stumbled into this store the first time I was in the five-college neighborhood, I felt as if I had gone to THE yarn supplier of the ages. And I still feel that way. I only work with wool fiber, which means each project is a bit costly and the finished item needs continual vigilance and care to keep it clean and moth-free. But, it is worth it as nothing takes dye and holds it for years, like wool. I actually have an afghan that my grandfather bought from a patient who made it over 100 years ago and it has not faded. (It is a bit dry, though, lol). So, when I decided to make a knitted blanket last Spring from one of my favorite yarns by Noro, I knew the only place I could order dozens of skeins of Kureyon in different colors was Webs. The reason is, most yarn stores, if they still exist -- they do tend to go out of business, sadly, regularly -- will only sell Noro yarns in bulk to you and they have to order them, which takes a lot of time. Webs has them in stock, all the time. I underestimated the number of skeins I needed for this blanket and was able to order extras several times from Webs, with no problem. They have wonderful discounts for buying multiples, carry every kind of yarn you can imagine, and get them to you quickly, well wrapped. What more would we want? Store has completely changed since selling out to Love Craft. There is not the selection they used to have. Warehouse area is about 10 pct of what it was. The yarn selection has downgraded. Used to drive 2 hours to find great yarns, no murasol, Laines du Nord or hedgehog. The vibe is different. I wouldn't bother. read more

Used to love this store. Unfortunately it has drastically gone down hill. If you went here 5-10 years ago, be aware that this is not the store you remember. Mostly mass produced garbage but prices have gone up. Selection of tools is a joke. Winders and swifts are always broken or barely functioning but won't be labeled as such so use at your own risk. Yarn is disorganized and low stock. Employees are no where to be found most of the time. Really sad to see a place that used to be an amazing local resource for fiber artists turn into a glorified hobby lobby. read more

I'm on the third skein and I just encountered my third "knot" - it appears that they tie two pieces of yarn together within the skein. I went there today and was shocked at the store how little they have for yarn in each of the sections and in the back where they used to have the sale yarns or overstock the shelves were I would have to say bare compared to what they were in the past. I ran into another customer who hadn't been there in a while and she was as shocked as I was. I was not greeted when I walked in as it used to be, and nobody asked if I needed help. I used to buy tons of yarn there because I could go and touch it feel it I knew what it was like so I did a lot of online stuff, but I guess this won't be my go to store any longer. The Yarn selection at Webs is as always, astonishingly wide and varied and beautifully displayed! However, the selection of the tools that you need to work with the yarn, namely, needles, and crochet hooks, is PATHETIC. More empty holes than hooks or needles on the racks and also when here two months ago. The staff says "we're waiting for them to come in" and "whenever we get a small order they are snapped up right away" which is idiotic. Any *competent* manager would conclude that therefore they should order more! And keep them in stock. Because you can't make a profit on items you don't sell; you can't sell items that you don't have in the store! I can't believe I have to go to a big box chain store to get a single 4mm hook. They have nothing between 2.5 and 8 mm at all. And they've also stopped carrying fiber, or tools for handspinners. A couple of wheels and a few lonely braids of dyed fiber. Not ordering more they said. Deeply disappointed. Taking WEBS off my list of places to go on a special day out. read more

My order was placed on 2/2/26 (website states shipping 1-2 days) my order was not shipped for 5 days order and shipped from Missouri .. what?? and did not arrive until 2/13/26. If I had known they sent it by CAMEL, I would have selected expedited shipping and maybe they would've used an airplane. One will never know, because I will never buy from them again. When you write an email to inquire "where is my product" you get a canned auto reply. Their website says 7 to 10 days, but that is a lie and they know it's a lie, that is the part that bothers me. Four days ago I placed my first order via the WEBS app for circular needles from their closeout section. I was happy with the selection available as well as the price, both of which surpassed items in stock at my local craft stores. However, after creating an account (email and password), the app repeatedly refused to recognize said password. Finally, the web browser took it, which then allowed me access via the app, but then both claimed I have no recent orders, either open or closed. What? Now I'm waiting on a response from customer service. Hopefully it's an oversight or a system glitch and not par for the course. Two things I don't love: the quantity of daily e-mail spam once I signed up for the newsletter, and the shipping prices by package weight. I am so disappointed. I started out all happy and psyched to find an online yarn store that sold better than average yarn. It looked so promising. The customer service person sounded SO concerned. In the long run they did not do right by me. I bought an expensive yarn that admittedly said that dye lot vary. But here's the issue. The skeins had completely different coloration. It was more than a variation. It literally looked like it had been mislabeled. The customer service person asked me for a picture and then asked for more pictures. I sent them promptly and granted it was a Friday. I took several pictures and even though it's hard to tell, it clearly is a purple on one of them and a blend of purple, pink orange on the first skein. Fast forward - I received an answer that they determined it was a variation and that I should rip out part of the project and blend it better. I could rip and rip, but still the colors won't blend. I even explained that I saw the same yarn in a store within the same state. The yarn store had it in bins and it was matched beautifully and perfectly. I'm sorry I tried to save a few bucks with WEBS. Now my project looks too funky even for me. Well, they lost a customer trying to prove their point. I guess buyer beware with this company. I informed them of my disappointment. Now, I'll be looking for this yarn or variations of it in an actual store. Years ago I used a different site and never had this problem. im very disappointed in the newly designed website. Dots for colors of yarn? Yes you can press on the dots, but the old way was so much better. why fix what isn't broken. last time I ordered my order kept getting rejected and the message said "TROUT" something. I had to call in my order, which took a lot of time. Finally I asked about it and the woman said I had to manually re-enter my credit card. She said it was for my protection! I say it's a bad software glitch because no other website that has my credit card stored in memory rejects my order. Amazon for instance. Yarn often has breaks in it where it's retied together. one ball of Valley Yarn Superwash had places that weren't twisted enough so I had to cut the skein four times. Pretty much anything you need is there. There are a couple of yarns that are only available online but that's no big deal. If you have a question, no matter who you approach, you'll get an answer. Well, where do I begin? I guess I'll start by saying that this store is pure heaven! So much yarn! So many needles/hooks! So many notions! So many choices! Great discounts, ENORMOUS variety of yarns, and the staff is very helpful and friendly, but not overbearing. Also, they have a pretty good YouTube channel, too, that's loaded with videos, both instructional and in regards to their products. They have a decent supply of spinning and weaving stuff here, too. Bottom line: If you knit, crochet, spin, or weave, this place is your Mecca. read more

I've been going to webs for almost fifteen years. During that time, I have knitted and crocheted hundreds of skeins, balls, and cones of WEBS yarn. A lot of this yarn has come from the magical backroom, which is a place to get discounted, high-quality yarns from excellent fiber designers like Takhi, Noro, and the locally-produced Valley Yarns, just to name a few. WEBS is larger than it looks from the outside, way larger. Yet when you step inside, there's no feeling of oversize. There are many reference pattern books to consult, for inspiration, and in addition to these, there are fiber art periodicals and books for purchase. Their "notions" (like "findings," only for fiber art: handmade buttons, clasps and closures, etc) are lovely. I fell in love with local bag designer Lexie Barnes' project bags at WEBS; I bought my large Lexie Barnes project bag, and almost all of my tiny LB project bags (that fit into the large bag) there. These bags have worked flawlessly for about five years, and they still look great, to boot. They have a very good selection of needles for crochet and knitting, and they have hardcore knitting classes for the serious knitter. There is a weekly drop-in time, where you can bring your handwork project in and join the group. Around twice a year, they have a tent sale that is best described as epic. Wow. I swear, one time, I met some llamas who'd come with a local yarnmaker to her booth. At the tent sale, I bought twenty balls of a shimmery purple Noro yarn, in bulk, at a very smart price. I used this yarn to make two shawls and three matching hats. I love WEBS so much that I have made a rule that I can't go there more than a certain number of times per year to buy yarn, and even then, I can only go if I've got enough room in my yarn storage bin to hold anything new. The fact that I even have to *have* a yarn storage bin is totally due to the fault of WEBS. :) Some of their handmade, handspun, hand-dyed yarns are incredibly expensive - and they should be. If you've ever taken the time to cultivate fiber, or turn it into yarn, you know how much work it takes. There are plenty of things to buy there that *aren't* $30 per skein, trust me. You won't feel deprived, that's for sure. One additional thing: the staff is made up of really nice people. At other yarn stores, I've felt a lot of snobbery and pressure directed towards anyone who wasn't in the "inner circle" of yarn crafters, but I've never felt that at WEBS. Everyone I've ever spoken with has been knowledgeable, kind, and enthusiastic about what I'm up to (and I'm no great shakes in terms of my skill levels in crochet and knitting!). I've heard the commercials for WEBS where people fly in from Italy and other ends of the earth to shop at the biggest yarneria in the world, and you know, I believe it. read more

I have never visited the brick & mortar store, but I have ordered several times and I can honestly say l have never ordered from a yarn store that took SO long to deliver. It's yarn! It doesn't even weigh anything. Still, I recently paid a $5.50'delivery charge for yarn ordered 3 weeks ago that I haven't seen yet! Shipping via UPS is the culprit. this is the second time I have placed an order after this business was sold to a large company and the on line is horrible. both times they have taken my money for certain yarn then notify me over two weeks later a yarn is sold out although they sold it to me two weeks earlier. I then ask for a refund on that yarn and am told the rest of my order is being sent. another week goes by and I hear nothing. I contact customer service and they inform me " shipping" was never notified so they had not sent it. This has happened two times. no apologies or concerns voiced by customer service and pretty much an attitude of not caring. you spend more time hunting down your order only to find they sold part of it but held onto your money. this is no longer a local family business and it shows. spend your money elsewhere and with a business who is customer centered and appreciates your business. I've shopped with WEBS before - I can't get enough of the closeout yarn, and the pictures are very representative of what you'll actually be getting - and the yarns are always lovely.Turns out the customer service is, too! Last night I ordered several skeins, only to realize a little while later that I had ordered one too few skeins. I contacted them as soon as I realized, asking if it would be possible to add one more skein to my order and charge me for the difference. It was clearly my mistake and I wouldn't have blamed them for saying no, I should just order another. This morning I already had a response, saying that they would help me out. So, I had a dumb moment and ordered from Webs again. They were having a sale on a specific yarn that I had been looking at, but hadn't bought due to it being so expensive. After contacting Customer Service last time, they promised me free expedited shipping on my next order and told me to write in the "Notes" section to charge my card immediately. I ordered a ton of yarn...lets just start there. Half the yarn was out of stock/back order, but I was prepared. I wrote in the little note section to charge my card immediately and that I had free expedited shipping. I ordered on a Monday and it wasn't until the following Tuesday when my yarn actually arrived. They only charged my card for what they could ship and of course, when shipping came around, the sale price was over and I had to pay the same price for the yarn I would've paid just going to my local yarn shop. It took almost three weeks for the full yarn order to come in. I mean it this time...never again! read more

Buyer beware! I have bought a ton of yarn on yarn.com and also visited and purchased in the store. Until I had a problem with an order, I thought this place was great. Much to my dismay, I have learned that they just can't handle a problem. Long story short, I ordered something that showed in stock and after a month of waiting have been told it would be at least two months before I would receive it. The second item on the order was held for me (I would have liked it to be shipped, but THEY decided to hold it), and after a month I still can't get an answer as to when it will ship, even though I have cancelled the other item. I have spoken to four people in customer service. No one has escalated this or managed to get this order pushed out the door, nor have they told me when it would ship (three days of talking to them and still no answers.) I give them two stars since I think they can probably handle most orders pretty well. But if you have a problem, prepare to be totally exasperated and not offered ANY solutions, help, or consideration for your problem. i am done with them! read more

Oh WEBS...where to begin? I make a pilgrimage out to WEBS at least once a year, driving 2+ hours each way, braving psychotic New York drivers on the Pike, in order to get to this goldmine of a yarn shop. But WEBS is certainly not your normal awesome yarn shop. Be prepared for something new. The "shop" part of the store is spacious and full of nice things, laid out more or less like a really large yarn shop might - a wall of needles, a section for sock yarn, a spinning corner, bulky in the back, delicious lace up front, etc. They have spinning and needle felting supplies, and they also are big into weaving, with lots of coned yarns at great prices. The storefront is not a cozy yarn shop like you might have seen in other climes. It's not busting yarn from every orifice, and it hasn't got much of a "hang out and knit" ambiance. Maybe if I were a local, I would see it differently, but when I come to WEBS, I don't plan to sit around and chat and knit. There's a huge difference between WEBS and your everyday "big yarn store" - THE WAREHOUSE. Walk through the shop, and you'll find a yarn warehouse, brimming with bags upon bags of yarn, most at steep discounts. Some is last season's, some is probably much older (bags of chenille, cones of weaving yarn). If you can resist the temptation to fill a shopping cart (yes - grocery-sized shopping carts) full of yarn in the discount section, you can take advantage of their fantastic discount structure - 20% off a $60 order and 25% off a $120 order. You'll be spending that $120 easily, trust me. I've had great experiences with the customer service, both using their website (they maintain a large mail-order operation) and in-shop. So, set aside your expectations of a "little yarn shop", and get ready for a big-time local yarn shop. Even if it's not so local, and you have to drive hours to get there. It's worth it. read more
