I was skeptical about coming here at my brother-in-laws suggestion, who said it was Dutch food, which isn't my favorite. However, this is in no way typical Dutch food (that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned). I ordered the cod with roasted vegetables, and substituted the french fries for roasted potatoes, which the owner graciously allowed me to do. Fish can be tricky, and it takes the right kind of chef to not overcook it. My dinner was absolutely delicious. The cod was tender and moist and the vegetables were delicious and a major part of the meal, not just a side. My husband ordered the duck, which he loved, but the duck portion was a little small. My brother in law had some kind of beef which was the special for the evening. It was nicely rare and generous in portion. I was in Amsterdam for 3 weeks, and ate out a lot, but this was the best meal I had, and I would definitely return, just to order the cod, which is on the regular menu. We shared a chocolate lava cake for desert. Everything is made on the premises, and it was the best lava cake I ever had, not too sweet, chocolatey and good. It is advised to make a reservation to ensure a table. read more
