While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. The work quality was top notch. I was highly impressed by JJ Construction and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Matt, for a great job.

Getting in touch with Anthony (and everyone from M&M) was incredibly easy. He was responsive, informative, and made everything feel comfortable--zero pressure- just genuine, honest guidance. What really impressed me was the thoroughness of his approach. While other companies gave me quick quotes from a satellite image or just from a visual inspection, Anthony was the only one who actually went into my attic, got up on the roof, took detailed photos, and walked me through everything. Most of the companies just focused on up selling my shingles- Anthony focused on what I asked for. M&M set clear expectations from day one--and then exceeded every single one of them. Not only did they stay true to the proposed timeline, but the work was also completed well ahead of schedule. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process. Anytime I had a question (no matter how small), Anthony or someone from his team would respond almost immediately. The final result far surpassed what I had envisioned. I had a little bit of sticker shock from the first quote so decided this would be worth getting multiple quotes on. And Home Build was one of them due to their stellar Yelp reviews. I called them and they were able to send Oscar out right away. They told me to save 60 -90 min for the consultation, which seemed like a lot of time considering every other company just needed 5-10 min of my time. However, i was willing to invest the time for the right doors and right price. Oscar and i met for over an hour. He was super friendly and knowledgeable about all my door options. He brought along a presentation (via his ipad), as well as materials so we got it all done within that hour. The other companies took a lot less, but resulted in a few trips to my house and lots of back and forth via email. I honestly probably prefer the latter since less time all at once. In the end I went with a different company due to price, but thought this company offered a good product at competitive pricing so would be worth looking into them.

She said well he did run his magnet over your driveway, There's NO possible way he did with all the nails that were left and we also have 3 cameras that face our driveway 1 points straight down it one across it and the other the front and the only time it picked anyone up was when he was here picking up the big mess! She did tell me they would be here the next morning between 7-8 am I am still waiting for them but when I called her to ask if there was an eta she blew up on me, was Cussing me out and Hung up on me, Again this was all caught on camera, when I told her I am leaving a review. We had two condo units in our building update windows as well as two back hallway windows, and Jacob provided a highly competitive quote. He was kind and patient when we waited for other unit owners in the building to decide, and did not push us to move quicker or make a decision when we were not yet ready. Ordering windows took a few weeks and teams on install day moved swiftly and kept the area clean after! I also want to note that we live on the 3rd floor of a condo building and many contractors said they could not install and/or needed additional materials, external infrastructure and costs to do the project, but Jacob made it seamless with bringing windows up the stairs, and doing an internal install, which incurred no extra install costs. This was also great as it did not impact our neighbors and kept the project contained and clean. I contracted Resil Home Improvement for a kitchen remodel of my nearly 100 year old home that has a lot of period character. I have to say I ended up with a very high end looking updated kitchen and I am extremely happy. This project involved knocking down part of a wall to gain additional countertop space and cabinet storage, tearing the kitchen down to the studs, replacing a door and two windows and complete electrical and plumbing upgrades. The project also involved doing work to drywall and painting areas adjacent to the kitchen. The initial estimate provided by Dave was pretty what I expected. We did encounter an unexpected expense that related to additional plumbing and electrical upgrades outside of the kitchen but I found the owner Mike very reasonable in negotiating the additional cost. I was impressed by their workmanship and attention to detail. Mike drew up plans for the kitchen and at first I thought there would be an issue fitting the cabinets in as illustrated but everything went in as planned. The project took slightly longer by a few days but that is minor compared to the finished project. If you have a major home improvement project and you want it done right, I recommend Resil Home Improvement. read more

This review is about Mike (the owner of Resil) WIFE calling me on the phone AND sending the following message through Messenger: "Hello. I dont understand why u Write not true comments about my husband. U don't know why sandy and Paul Ross don't work in him office." The things is I did write positive comments, but she decided to call me and attack me for no reason at all! Now I have a reason to write a negative! Don't deal with this company unless you want a crazed wife attacking you for no reason other than she doesn't understand English. I understand that she thinks she's a boss in that office, but Mike would be better off if he kept her out of the office and at home tending to their children. Mike is a nice guy, but he just has the wrong people thinking they are running the show. She should stay at home and has no reason to harass his paying customers!! read more

I would like to thank Mr Dave Allen ,Vice President of Resil Home Improvement for replacing my gutters that was bent , twisted and put holes in , when they did my roof in March, Dave did not know any thing about it , and Mike kept telling me, they were going to replace them, and never did, ,when Dave found out about how he did me, he were upset, he had someone out within two weeks, to replace my gutters, they put my gutters up today, they replaced the gutters with better gutters than i had before, because my gutters had seams, the gutters they put up are seamless, i would like to thank Mr Dave Allen ,I am thankful Mr Allen, God Bless You. read more

Resil completed an entire tear-down and rebuild of our deck and free standing gazebo. The original 35 year old wooden deck and gazebo was replaced with maintenance free composite decking (trac) and attached cedar gazebo. We had to go with a new tile because the tile in the bathroom before was outdated and unavailable. He kept the price in the range that we needed it to be. Looking at the finished product I can't put into words how good of a job they had done. Redoing the wall, the bathroom tiles, and the tiling by the shower was all done correctly and they made sure to clean up everything when they were done. I should have trusted my instincts when James tried to quit three times, once before even starting…read morebecause enough we were backing out and his guys were going to be left without work -- that was the first red flag. Another major one is the way he talks to people. Just read his responses to reviews -- he actually calls customers "idiots." Who does that? A business owner should never speak to clients that way. Don't let him bully you. To be fair, his crew -- the ones who actually do the hands-on work like framing and drywall -- are polite and hardworking. But James himself is extremely rude and unprofessional. He doesn't treat clients as partners or equals. He called us "kids" multiple times and even said we "must not be happy in our lives" and that we're not his "whipping posts." He also made major decisions without consulting us, like changing insulation plans on the fly. The HVAC work was done using cheap flexible hose for a long dryer vent run instead of proper galvanized piping. They also don't solder copper, so expect everything to be done with PEX. glorified framers -- the drywallers were outsourced. He might offer the lowest price, but you truly get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more for a contractor who treats you with respect and communicates like a professional. When he quit halfway through the job, he left several things incomplete. He never installed the laundry room door, didn't put the light fixture back, and used a 3-inch trim piece where a 5-inch one was supposed to go. They didn't fill nail holes, paint, or caulk any of the trim. Outlet faceplates were never put back on, and he simply walked away leaving it all unfinished. He kept on referring that he gave us a deal and did more work than we paid him for. He referred multiple times to the fact that I talked him down 2-3k off the price like any normal customer should do by negotiating a price. James quit because we asked too many questions and challenged him on things we noticed -- not out of disrespect, but because we have some knowledge of basic remodeling. Instead of having a professional discussion, he took everything personally and left the project incomplete. He will probably respond to this immaturely instead of taking ownership and accountability

He has great ideas and isn't afraid to tell you if something you want to do isn't necessarily worth the expense (which we very much appreciated). They delivered high-quality work that leveraged their knowledge and expertise to ensure our new space was functional and beautiful. Some things you look for in a general contractor and rarely find are the ability to stay close to budget and timelines, and Jim and his team did both of these! Jim does a thorough of a job putting designs/estimates together, and the only change order we had (that wasn't scope creep on our part) was for some poor electrical a previous owner did that Jim couldn't have anticipated. In addition, Jim keeps your project moving. We rarely went two days without someone at the house making progress on our project; there were no extended delays due to materials or labor issues. Jim and his team also excel at problem solving. Every project has hiccups along the way, but every issue is tackled and Jim won't stop until the solution works for you. As an example, we were having trouble matching the color of some new hardwood floors to older, existing floors in the house. He helped us put down 16 stain samples and promised we would keep trying until we got it right (and we finally did!). It was very clear our happiness was extremely important to him. If you are looking for a contractor who is honest, knowledgeable, responsive, efficient, affordable, and fun to work with, Independent Remodeling is who you should work with. It's hard to find a company you would want to use a second time, but Jim will be the first person we call for future projects in our house, and who we will recommend to friends and family if they are looking to complete a project in their home.

The quote they provided was similar to others I met with but I thought Luis went above and beyond of his assessment of the roof. He showed me multiple pictures after getting on the roof. One of the contractors l met with did not even get on the roof. Luis provided options but we ended up doing a full roof. He was able to send me license and insurance information as well since I couldn't find it on Yelp. I found the experience with Luis, Rueben, and their entire team to be excellent. Communication was simple and straight forward. I also appreciated being shown various tile colors to choose from for the project. We are super pleased with the new roof. They were able to complete the entire project in one day and did an excellent job cleaning up the site as debris was everywhere. I would highly recommend them.

I will agree with the sentiment of the other less positive reviews that communication can be…read morelacking at times. I had my closet redone and ordering a custom door took longer than it should have (not their fault), but the communication while waiting for was lacking. I assume this is because they are a small shop and pretty busy not out of malice or incompetence. THAT BEING SAID. I had a great experience with DBR; the crew was considerate, kind and clean. They worked hard and did a good job. They completed many tasks adjacent to what I had asked for in the remodel. Overall I am very pleased with the work they did and I would use them again. I also was satisfied with the price of the renovation -their price came below another quote I had gotten.

We were preparing our condo for sale and needed to update the place to look a little more modern. DBR provided much attention and care to every last detail. Our built-ins and kitchen cabinets looked brand new after their refinishing. The marble surround on the fireplace was meticulously placed. The walls were buttery smooth after their paint job. Our master bathroom was not a complete gut, just a mini-refresh. DBR was able to run the plumbing to accommodate a double vanity in no time and run the electrical to allow the mirror to function properly. DBR's quote was extremely competitive to other contractors we reached out to and I'm grateful we found them. Would gladly reach out to them again for work in our new home! Thanks, DBR!
