My garage is about 35 years old and was hit by a car that had lost control in the alley after a snowfall. The garage door was damaged and a corner of the wall had been pushed out. I called several places for repair estimates with disappointing results. One outfit specializing in garages never even came out to see the damage nor wanted any photos sent to them. They simply said they would not repair something that old and proceeded to give me a sales pitch for a new garage. Another garage company did come out to inspect and gave me a really high estimate for repairs. I sent photos to two other outfits and they either never got back to me with a quote, or would have had me wait a couple of weeks before someone could even inspect the damage. General Contractors Solutions was an entirely different story. I called after hours and left a message. I was contacted by Noel early the next morning on Wednesday, and he offered to swing by that weekend to see the damage. Meanwhile, he asked that I send along pictures which he would use to provide me an itemized estimate THAT VERY EVENING! I sent the pics and, sure enough, I got his estimate at around 9:30 pm Wednesday night. (Noel, do you ever sleep?) His proposal was VERY reasonable, a lot less than the previous estimate, so much so that I expanded the list of things to fix beyond the damage repair alone, like a new garage door opener (our old one was busted), a new wider entry door to replace the rotting plank with a door knob that was our existing entry, and replacing/repairing corners. Noel came Saturday, and I was impressed by how prompt, professional and personable he was. He sized up the damage, took my list of additional work requests, answered all my questions, and provided me a timeframe for the repairs. The very next day, Sunday, I received a revised itemized work proposal including my new work requests. During the following week, I asked for estimates on other things, and breakdowns of items already on his proposal. Noel was always prompt and courteous in his replies throughout this process. I signed the contract the following Saturday and two days later, Noel showed up bright and early to start work. And work he did. He arrived at around 8:30 am and worked straight through until around 5 pm (with a short break for lunch, of course). I'm retired, so I was home. Mind you, I wasn't monitoring him, but every time I looked outside, he was busy with something. He just worked, methodically, efficiently. Day 1, the wall was fixed. The next day, same thing. My new, bigger entry door was installed by around lunchtime, and later that day so was the new garage door and opener, with the help of some coworkers. The third day, he finished up the minor extra repairs, and even went the extra mile to replace a portion of damaged siding upon my request that wasn't strictly covered in the contract. He was done by lunchtime. Noel cleaned up every day before leaving, and took away the damaged wall, old doors and opener. He had estimated 3-4 days to complete the work, and was done in 2 and a half. Noel showed me what he had worked on each day. The result is outstanding! The garage hasn't looked this good since it was built. And the cost of the job never changed from the price we agreed on. So, based on my experience, if you're looking for a prompt, professional, reasonable, honest, efficient, thorough contractor who also happens to be a nice, personable and courteous guy, I recommend you do yourself a favor and contact Noel at General Contractor Solutions and ask for a quote. Noel and his team are professional, thorough, and reasonably priced. I strongly recommend them. They did a complex multi-part job for me: 1) removing flooring damaged by basement flooding, 2) rebuilding the floor with new frame sleepers and plywood, 3) covering the new floor precisely with new vinyl and installing new baseboard, and 4) building a cabinet in some unused space.
