This company is terrible. 1. Once they gain a monopoly in an area forget it. 2. They only come get the trash 50% of the time. 3. I call in and they promise to come get it. 4. They never come. When you ask again they tell you "We don't have enough drivers and the garbage truck is broken." 5. As others have mentioned, Republic Services consistently fails to do their basic job of servicing trash/recycling containers on their scheduled service days. Practically every month, there's at least one delay during one of their weekly pickup cycles. Whenever I've called in for assistance, their representatives say that they're opening requests for missed pickups, but the trucks either don't show up, or they show up 3+ days later to eventually service the containers. This has been happening frequently in my neighborhood. For example, our scheduled service day is Monday. Today is Friday and they still haven't serviced our recycling containers yet (this is for all of the houses on our street). I called in on Wednesday to report the delay. They said it will be serviced within 48 hours. I called in again today since that didn't happen. I was told that this would be escalated. Even if it is escalated, what's the point when we're 3 days away from our next weekly pickup date? The only thing they are consistent about is sending bills and raising rates. read more

Called on a Wednesday to schedule a bulk pick up for my first time ever. I accidentally transferred myself to the wrong option and the were super nice and got me where I needed to go. The man on the line that helped me was kind, informative and even helped me schedule a refrigerator I thought didn't qualify and had been sitting on the side on my house for months. Scheduled for my next garbage day (Monday, just 5 days later) and by 5 PM when i got home, all was picked up. Super satisfied and thankful. read more

They require residents to call in advance for "a pickup" when broken down boxes don't fit in a trash can. They also only permit residents to have 4 pickups over a given time period.They also have a policy of not allowing their drivers to pick up excess recycling. All bad. Other communities generally allow unlimited recycling however republic services and it's unsustainable practices plague many cities in California. This company needs an overhaul. My garbage was FINALLY picked up on Thursday afternoon after 3:30pm....my pickup day is MONDAY!!!!!! This after I submitted 3 missed pick up requests, an email from customer service saying that they would make an Urgent pick up on Wednesday and then a call to Customer Service. I have lived in this house in Antioch for only 7 months and I've had 3 missed pickups in the last 4 weeks. The last residence I lived at, in Pittsburg, for 7 years and I had ZERO missed pickups. So Republic Services failed (AGAIN) to pick up our recycle can on Thursday. On Friday at 0900 I called and explained they missed the can, despite picking up the recycle oil and dropping off another oil container. The woman who assisted me said the best they could do would be to pick it up on Monday. Great. So my can sat at the curb all day, it's still there. Do you think Republic Service could pick it up? NOPE. Absolutely the worst service ever. Republic Service is apparently incapable of doing even the simplest task. What are they the company that has the privilege of collecting the garbage in Alamo? Surely someone better can get that job. So then I called in to tell Republic Services they missed the pick-up again. Around 08/11, I submitted a request and report a broken trash container. On 08/17, the TRASH company brilliantly took the broken TRASH cart away without leaving a new one to me. I left an email on 08/17 saying I didn't receive a new one and got a reply that they will send me a new one next Monday (08/23). And those brilliant guys forgot this with no doubt. Of late, people complain about late or next day pick up, intolerant of the fact that Republic Services is experiencing a shortage of employees and are thereby understaffed. My garbage, recycle and green waste was scheduled to be collected on Thursday July 1st. Only the household waste was collected and phone calls went out that the balance would be picked Friday. Friday the recycle was picked up, I left the green waste out another day just in case. No pick-up so I left a message Sunday the 4th. I received a call back Tuesday and was told that they would try to get it that day if not, then Wednesday. Nothing Wednesday, called again Thursday and was told maybe Thursday, but for sure its on the schedule for Friday by 6pm. Nothing again. This means that 4 weeks will go by between pickups and I have dried branches and bushes that have been sitting around and getting harder to stuff in the bin without getting stuck or injured. Drivers don't seem to care about the quality of their work. Truck 2260 came to pickup our green can this morning. He came roaring up the street as if in a timed race. I went outside to observe him as I had a full can and wanted to make sure he emptied it and didn't make a mess. I observed him lifting the cans up maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of the way then dumping once and putting them down. When he dumped my neighbors across the street I could see debris still spilling out as the can was set back down. Shouldn't he lift the can up completely and tip and bang it to ensure all has left the can? Aren't there procedures for dumping garbage and recycling? I realize that the company is usually short handed but speeding up the block and not taking care or time when picking up garbage begs for a preventable accident. I usually send out 5 star reviews on exceptional service and do not like negative reviews but in this case its not even a 1star review. Called 4 times for a missed pick up and no one ever showed up. I was told twice it was escalated but still no service. I know we have no other choice so they have us over a barrel and they are putting that barrel to use. If I could rate this business zero stars I would. They are the worst garbage company I have ever had to use. Yes, have to. The cities choose the company. This company is unreliable, non responsive to complaints, and now wants to raise rates. Consistently late on recycling pick up, and the are aware of it. They send you emails to let you know. Then when you try and get an explanation they just say , we are allowed to be late on this. Green waste rarely gets picked up more than once a month, though it's scheduled for every other week. I currently have called daily for a week and a half attempting to get my green waste picked up. Nothing but empty promises and a refund for $2,54. UPDATE 8/5. I never heard back from the business department...shocking I know. The business department also can't be reached by telephone. It's pretty well thought out when you think about it. They just send their problems to this black hole never to be dealt with or heard from again. The CCRM who responded to my first review said that they will not be crediting my account since services didn't start until 7/23. Remember that I called to have services transferred on 6/21. The credit was for them jerking me around for a month before getting their act together. So even though they have a recorded phone conversation saying they would credit my account, they just changed their minds. I'm going to try the Better Business Bureau and the City Council. Maybe we can get Waste Management to expand their service delivery area. read more

Great service and very helpful. Lots of ppl forget to put their cans out then project their failings onto the company. Saw it myself!! Pretty despicable. Own your own issues. Very responsive when we have called and I particularly like the automated notification if a truck is running late. Nice touch. I have been trying to call this company for days! Not answering on hold for almost an hour , I think the less minute I waited for On hold is 5 minutes but many times it's over 5 minutes. I would put it on speaker phone while I do other things and they never pick up. I can tell someone picks up then put on hold again. Probably thinks that I want to defer my payment due to Covid . Poor service from driver Mario, took boxes and paper from my bin And tossed them in my front yard. The one box had 3 sheets of clean paper towels and a square of bubble wrap. I understand if that's not recyclable, but does not justify throwing it in my front yard. Two phone calls about a missed pickup and my recycling has still not been picked up. on 10/13/2020 , they did not pick up my recycling as scheduled so I called and reported it as a missed pickup and scheduled for 10/14/2020. At 4:45 on 10/14/2020, Randy called to remind them because they drove down my street and did not pick up my recycling. They told him that they would notify dispatch but they had until 5:00 to pick it up.
