No way was I going to Concord Recycling Center (lines are very long). I was surprise I remember Sun's Recycling in Port Chicago (I didn't know this was still Concord) A family own business. I was very impress on the guy unloading my eight big trash bags of plastic bottles into one huge net bag. Very impressive on the guy hauling my plastic bottles. I manage to come to Sun' Recycling Center at a perfect time while there was no people. I manage to come and get out of there fast! Only suggestion is if you happen to have a U-Haul with a bunch of cans and bottles this wouldn't be a good idea to bring your redeem here (you might tick off others who want to redeem their cans and bottles).

Nikki is such a pleasure to work with and really nice - she made the process so easy and had clear instructions. Our baby's play structure is going to be built on perfectly leveled and super safe ground thanks to the County Quarry. Only problem is looking for an affordable 10-wheeler trucking company to haul it over. We ended up with Foskett Trucking (recommended by County Quarry) because although they had a three hour minimum ($110 per hour), it was still much more affordable than other trucking companies that wanted $710-$900 total). I did a lot of research and County Quarry is the place to go for recycled base gravel, especially if you're only leveling the ground (for artificial grass, play structure, etc.). I checked prices at other places (ie Mt Diablo Landscaping to just name one), and it was $59.95 per cubic yard with $50 delivery. County Quarry is $13.75 a ton, which is much more affordable! Basically $800 less than anywhere else. Only issue I had was having to drop off a check because they don't take credit card or any payments over the phone. Still, this place beats them all. Definitely will come back for anymore backyard renovations!

My worst nightmare came true the night we came home from Hawaii. It was midnight and what did we…read morecome home to.....no gas to our house. No gas means no heat. No heat means no hot water either. No heat in the dead of winter kind of sucks. It sucks a lot. Our neighbors were up and gave us the numbers to call to PG&E. PG&E decided that the week of Christmas was the perfect week to come out and replace the copper piping in our back yard. We were also on vacation that week. So on top of not having heat we had a terribly filled in hole in our back yard side walk. They filled in white and red cement with black asphalt. A nasty pile of asphalt that doesn't match any of the surrounding surface. The letter that they left for us clearly stated that they would replace the pipes and match all existing areas. Black asphalt is no where to be found in my back yard. My husband was pissed! We called and they said someone would be there with in the hour. So I piled the comforters on the couch and waited. At 2 a.m. and freezing on the couch I called PG&E back. They said that they had record of my call but had not dispatched anyone. Oh that's nice. He dispatched someone immediately. Immediately at about 3:20 a.m. the technician called us to say that he wouldn't be to our house for 3 hours. I told him to forget it and that we will freeze for the night. Myself, my baby and my husband climbed in to bed with every spare quilt and blanket in the house on top of us. Yet it was still absolutely freezing. My husbands jaws hurt in the morning because of his teeth clanging together all night shivering. I called back at 7a.m. and they sent someone out at 9 a.m. It took the guy 5 minutes to get everything back and running. Horrible experience and not very accommodating at all. It took my husband 3 weeks of calling and complaining to get them to come back out to repair our sidewalk to look like the surrounding area. Which they did a very nice job on and should have done it right the first time. A few weeks ago I smelled gas really, really bad on our street and called PG&E to report it. They had the fire department there in 2 minutes and 2 technicians here in 10 minutes. So I'm glad they responded so fast to that complaint. That's what the 3rd star is for. I would give 0 stars for making my family freeze over night. The major fast response to a gas leak gets the three extra stars. Oh and they mail me this letter every year right before summer that's says something about conserving energy and I could win a Prius. Guess what? We don't have air conditioning and I hang my clothes outside to dry in the summer. My bill in the summer time is about $36.50 a month. I should get a Prius on principle.

After losing faith in Craig's List over the years, I had no idea what to do with my appliances and furnishings. I also wanted my items to "give back" to humanity. So, I called Bay Area Recycle. They were extremely helpful, informative and professional. They were unable to take my furnishings, but they referred me to someone who could help (Salvation Army and Bay Area Crisis Nursery). They WERE able to take my refrigerator for $35 cash, in a timely manner-- 2 days later! They removed the appliance from the storage unit, so I did not have to do any heavy lifting. Overall, an excellent experience. Why only 4 stars, and not 5? Well, they only accepted cash; and they only take electronics and appliances. However, I want to reiterate-- these folks are wonderful! I would use them again.

They quoted me: $40 for curbside pick-up or $65 to come up one-flight of stairs and remove it from my apartment. 2 guys showed up on time and the price I signed for was the price I was quoted. Plus, they recycle as much of the mattress as they can whereas the other companies just take it to the Dump.
