It's a recycling center so it's what you expect-lines, there are bins if you have lots of cans and bottles to weigh in. I typically only have one or two bags as I don't like to have a hunger stock pile at my house. You can also recycle your metal/appliances there as well. Across the street you can drop off your cardboard to be recycled as well. It's better to get a few bucks back for your cans and bottles instead of putting it in the trash. read more

Great staff and efficient team. It's a dirty job for sure, and these folks do it with a smile. Clientele is a mix bag and full of trash coming out of no where. Nonetheless the team here recycles and intakes them so there is barely any line. Do NOT go here if you want to recycle copper especially if you don't live in the area. There's a 3 day waiting period to collect your check for copper drop offs, which I've never experienced anywhere else. Since I didn't know about that policy, I live 45 mins away so I didn't want to drive all the way back on Saturday so I have to wait ANOTHER 5-10 business days for them to mail my check, in which they demanded 50 cents in quarters for the stamp, which I thankfully had. First time trying to recycle here 8/7/23. Firstly, I didn't know what is what and most of the staff spoke only Spanish. I went to 1 recycling center before, so I know that I need to sort out the cans, plastics, and glasses. What I didn't realize until I got to this center was that the plastics need to have CA-CRV on it, even if it's recycle number is the SAME as the other bottles. I have a small plastic water bottle that they didn't take because there was no CA-CRV. I also learned that there are some that are HI-CRV and ME-CRV's that are in my collection, but not accepted. Either way, I got some money (and they're new quarters!!) for the items I have been storing at home due to the Pandemic. The place has enough parking on the street, but the parking INSIDE the center is very hard to navigate out. It feels like a 1 way street with so many cars coming and going. What you need is patience, and some alcohol sanitizers because you'll be using lots of their trash cans to sort out your materials. read more

Always come here when i am on my way to work , today i went in around 1 pm it was not busy as soon as I got there they were able to attend me . They give you a paper to take to the cashier and they pay you with cash , make sure to bring your bottle sorted and if you make over 30 dollars they will give you a check . I have dropped off my recycling at the Bliss Street location in Pittsburg, Ca & one location in Martinez, Ca that I liked , but this location is my favorite. There's an easy entrance/exit, the trash buckets to fill up with our cans and bottles are easy access, they move quickly, and you never have to wait in long lines. Although this past week they tried to turn us away when we showed up five minutes before closing. I didn't appreciate that but I convinced them to let me in and we took care of everything within about ten minutes. I appreciate their professionalism here. read more

This is the place to recycle your items in Contract Costa county. Bring gloves and perhaps wear spare clothes. This place is a recycling center after all so it is not the cleanest place, but acceptable given the circumstances. Their rates are fair and competitive compared to other places. read more

Took a couple of really old PCs, a broken microwave and a bunch of other e-waste that were cluttering up the garage to this place. I was expecting some sort of fee for the microwave but there was none. It was a really easy process, staff was friendly, I was there when they opened at 8am and I was out of there in 10 minutes. It's been a long time since I've been here, I honestly forgot this place existed. I stopped going here years ago because of how poorly the line management was done - you had to drive around the block, come in the back, people were cutting in here and there, sometimes there was no where to put your car - it was a complete mess. Doesn't appear they do that anymore. I came here the other morning, got in and out pretty quick. So quick in fact I'm afraid to leave a good review because I don't want people to find out how quick it was and start bombarding this place again. I assume there are the bad times to come here when it is super crowded but man, I've never had an easier time getting in and out and paid at a recycling place than I did the other day. This is a great place to recycle your water bottles, glass bottles and aluminum soda cans for some extra cash. I have went here 3 times and it was super fast! If you have a huge amount of recyclables they will do it by weight instead of count. I come here about every 4 months and got more than 10$ of cash back. This is a great place and great service . The only thing I did not like about this is the parking lot is quite narrow and they do not have many spots. I had to park outside on their busy hours. I recommend coming here on weekdays since weekends are really packed. read more

They are always super fast and organized. You have to have everything separated before you get in line which makes for a much faster experience. I came with 8 large bags of plastic bottles squished and 2 bags of aluminum cans squished and was in and out in 4-5 minutes. Paying you out is also very quick and convenient too. i've been coming here since i was a kid with my parents and overall this place was always nice and quick and people weren't quiet rude. But today my little brother (note he's only 12) and i went to go and recycle some cans and so far everything was going smoothly but turns out we had to separate some plastic and cans no biggie. So my brother and i separate them and as we get the finale ones left in the bag i told my brother to just dump them out in the trash can thing and the lady who's helping us some short bitter señora is standing and waiting for us and my brother drops some cans and the lady literally gives him the dirtiest fucking stare as i'm standing right in front of her i was like what the heck?? and he picked them up of course but even my little brother noticed she gave him the meanest glare and i had half a mind to tell her what her problem was but i just wanted to get the fuck out of there. in conclusion the staff here are shitty and all that because of one experience with one bitter lady. Will not be coming again and going someplace else from now on. read more

On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, I arrived here early at 6:30 AM to be the first in line, which I was. This place is called Concord Recycling Center, but their sign outside says "Pleasant Hill Recycling" and the sign on the building and what is listed in the state bottle recycling directory state "Pleasant Paper Recycling". Anyway, I had about 50 bottles and cans to return for about $0.05 or $.10 each, under the California CRV (bottle deposit) program. I waited outside in my car on street for their gates to fully open. About a half hour later, a homeless man riding his bike whizzed in past the partially-open gate with his bag of recyclables (he is pictured below in my pics, standing in front of me). This is a violation of the company's rules which are posted (again, pictured) that state no walk-ins (pedestrians), bicycles, or shopping carts are allowed. Needless to say, I was not happy. They opened the gates about 15 minutes early. So I drove in and wasn't sure where to park. I got my bottles from my car and got in line after asking around where to go. While I was waiting, I saw a woman pushing a shopping cart full of bottles inside the gate (pictured), again against the rules! Whatever. I was second in line. The employees, a man and a woman, started to take returns about 12 minutes late, as they appeared disorganized. They were busy sweeping up all the loose cans they found under the weighing platform and elsewhere. When I made my return, they were helpful, but slow. The place looked horrendous, with trash piled everywhere, inside and outside. It was a very sketchy business with questionable clientele. The building looked old, with peeling paint everywhere, and like it was ready to fall apart. Again, see my pictures. When I went to cash my voucher in in an alcove inside the building, about 30 feet past the return area, the employee was behind a plastic or glass window, like some bank tellers are. You could barely see through the window since it was all scratched up. I also could barely hear her as well. She asked for ID. Now I have returned many bottles in California before and have never once was asked for ID or had a cashier sequestered behind a window. Here they ask for ID because they need to apparently, due to all the shady customers they have peddling stolen items. Their website even has a page dedicated to picturing items they just bought for potential victims to claim. Other recyclers I have been to are much nicer and cleaner, and just give me the cash voucher where I then go into the nearby Safeway, SaveMart, or Lucky to cash out. Sometimes they even give you the cash right there, not from behind a window. The cashier gave me some account form or card to use in the future if I return. I politely took it, but then threw it out at home as I am never going to this place again. It is too trashy, even for a recycling place, with all kinds of bad actors. A super quick and easy experience! I had a few small appliances sitting in my garage that I needed to recycle. I was willing to pay as I want to ensure they're properly disposed of. I just came to the Concord Recycling Center as it was the only business that was clear to me that took appliances and I a nicely greeted by the gentleman working here. I inquired if I could bring my appliances (two air dryers and a microwave) and was told I could. I was offered help to get the items from my car, which I politely declined as I didn't want to take up their time, but it was so appreciated. I never get offered any help when dealing with heavy things, so the offer really means a lot. I went to drop them off at their designated spot and didn't have to pay a dime! I'm so happy that this recycling center exists and I will be sure to share with neighbors to come here. It's so important to dispose of electronics properly. read more

This place is a good joint to bring your recyclables too. They pay a fair price and they are pretty efficient. The other place in Concord closed so this is the only show in town. it's also a lot farther away from the downtown area so it's not overrunning with the homeless. The parking lot is a bit tricky, so try to get here early. There's not too many parking slots and there's very little room to back up. read more

Terrific recycling center. Employees are all working hard as recyclers get a cart to load their cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles to move into lines for weighing. I needed help unloading my boxed glass bottles from my car and Jorge immediately came to my rescue transferring the bottles from my car onto a cart and wheeling the cart to a line. What a wonderful man!!!!! The center is organized in such a way that cars come in from an entrance around the corner from Galaxy and exit in another direction after receiving their refund. Super organized and fast moving so recyclers are not waiting for a long time to unload their cars. Grateful to have this business available in Concord. read more

There isn't really any other place to recycle on the East Bay so I appreciate this place. The parking is small and can get backed up quickly. They take it all. We were there for plastic CRV containers. Load up your bags onto the scale (they guys will do it). They'll load you stuff on the conveyor belt and pick through non-CRV stuff and put it back on the scale to calculate your actual CRV weight (at a little over $1 per pound). They'll recycle the non-CRV plastic, but won't pay you for it. Bring your scale receipt over to one of the two payment windows and they'll pay you (a check if you are over $30). read more

Been here a couple of times now. First time was to recycle a bunch of aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles, and tin cans. Saved up a bunch after a month and barely got $3 for them. I don't think it was worth my time to drive over here and get $3. I'd rather just dump them in my recycling bin at home. There are no directions on what to do if it's your first time here. I had to put them all in the garbage bins they provide and then they'll weigh it. It's fine if you want to make some kind of money, but make sure you accrue a ton of recyclables before you go. It will make the trip "more" worth it. I noticed they pay the most for tin cans, like soup/bean cans. Second time I went here(today), I had some used rotors and brake parts that I needed to recycle and thought I could get some money for it. I asked the gentlemen in the warehouse, he said I have to bring metal to 1313 Galaxy Way(it's diagonally across from this place. You won't see signs but you will see 1313). So I drive across the street and find someone to help me. They say they can only pay me if I have more than 200lbs, and at 100lbs they'd only pay a few bucks(I forget if he said $3 or $9). Definitely not worth it either for me. I thought I could at least get a few bucks for each rotor. Anyway, at least they took them for me for free. Now it's not laying around the house anymore. Overall, for metal, don't take it here. Find another place. read more
