I am aware of plastic bottles and cans to be separated which I have seen other people still separating theirs which they take longer to do. The last 4 times I've visited, it's been self service, then the woman in the office helps you. She's been questioning me about my cans every time, and told me that the next time I was going to get scrap metal pricing, because the cans didn't have labels on them (the beer label stickers had been peeled off). She also questioned if I crushed them with a machine. What kind of machine? I mean, I crush them, like a normal person, with my feet, so I can fit 4 times as many in a bag, but whatever. Customer service and basic professionalism were completely absent. There are plenty of other recycling businesses that treat their customers with respect. Man said he was going based off what was in the computer. After seeing the price difference I wanted to separate the copper to make a couple extra dollars since I had it mixed. I asked the man handling the transactions that told me a different price on the copper if he can lend me some clippers and he said he cant let me borrow them yet he had my ID and I was going to do it right in front of him. Words cant explain how frustrated I was. I ended up taking a loss at the end of the day and affected me mentally due to financial struggles.

First one was not picked up because I didn't know it had to be left in the street, and I left it next to the street. OK, so I called and rescheduled for a week later. This time, they simply did not come. I called the next day, and waited on hold for an hour or so to get it noted as a missed pickup, and schedule a pickup for that day if possible, or the next day. Well, it was not done at all. It looks like it was entered as bulk pickup, but the stupid software forces you to choose either trash, recycled, or yard waste that was missed, so that might be the problem. So, now I have to call again, as there is no place online to enter a missed bulk pickup. Their voicemail sucks, and the first time I called before, I was disconnected instead of transferred, and had to wait on hold another 45 minutes. This is just unacceptable, and I plan to complain to the city, although what can they do - there is no competition. Aren't monopolies wonderful!

Nikki is such a pleasure to work with and really nice - she made the process so easy and had clear instructions. Our baby's play structure is going to be built on perfectly leveled and super safe ground thanks to the County Quarry. Only problem is looking for an affordable 10-wheeler trucking company to haul it over. We ended up with Foskett Trucking (recommended by County Quarry) because although they had a three hour minimum ($110 per hour), it was still much more affordable than other trucking companies that wanted $710-$900 total). I did a lot of research and County Quarry is the place to go for recycled base gravel, especially if you're only leveling the ground (for artificial grass, play structure, etc.). I checked prices at other places (ie Mt Diablo Landscaping to just name one), and it was $59.95 per cubic yard with $50 delivery. County Quarry is $13.75 a ton, which is much more affordable! Basically $800 less than anywhere else. Only issue I had was having to drop off a check because they don't take credit card or any payments over the phone. Still, this place beats them all. Definitely will come back for anymore backyard renovations!

After losing faith in Craig's List over the years, I had no idea what to do with my appliances and furnishings. I also wanted my items to "give back" to humanity. So, I called Bay Area Recycle. They were extremely helpful, informative and professional. They were unable to take my furnishings, but they referred me to someone who could help (Salvation Army and Bay Area Crisis Nursery). They WERE able to take my refrigerator for $35 cash, in a timely manner-- 2 days later! They removed the appliance from the storage unit, so I did not have to do any heavy lifting. Overall, an excellent experience. Why only 4 stars, and not 5? Well, they only accepted cash; and they only take electronics and appliances. However, I want to reiterate-- these folks are wonderful! I would use them again.
