When I come to this location I already got my plastic bottles and cans separated which impresses the people that work there. I am in and out within five minutes. I am aware of plastic bottles and cans to be separated which I have seen other people still separating theirs which they take longer to do. No way was I going to Concord Recycling Center (lines are very long). I was surprise I remember Sun's Recycling in Port Chicago (I didn't know this was still Concord) A family own business. I was very impress on the guy unloading my eight big trash bags of plastic bottles into one huge net bag. Very impressive on the guy hauling my plastic bottles. I manage to come to Sun' Recycling Center at a perfect time while there was no people. I manage to come and get out of there fast! Only suggestion is if you happen to have a U-Haul with a bunch of cans and bottles this wouldn't be a good idea to bring your redeem here (you might tick off others who want to redeem their cans and bottles).

The last 4 times I've visited, it's been self service, then the woman in the office helps you. She's been questioning me about my cans every time, and told me that the next time I was going to get scrap metal pricing, because the cans didn't have labels on them (the beer label stickers had been peeled off). She also questioned if I crushed them with a machine. What kind of machine? I mean, I crush them, like a normal person, with my feet, so I can fit 4 times as many in a bag, but whatever. Unfortunately for me, it's become a hassle, and awkward trip, so I will be finding somewhere else to recycle.

To make matters worse, I was instructed to unload and move my own pallet of batteries for recycling. After I had already done the work, I was suddenly told I couldn't continue because I was wearing Birkenstocks. If that was actually a safety policy, one of the employees could have easily told me before I started unloading instead of waiting until I was finished. When I was told I had to wait in my car, I simply walked over to my vehicle, and the owner continued insulting me by calling me a "dick" as I left. Customer service and basic professionalism were completely absent. There are plenty of other recycling businesses that treat their customers with respect. I would definitely recommend taking your business elsewhere.

Man said he was going based off what was in the computer. After seeing the price difference I wanted to separate the copper to make a couple extra dollars since I had it mixed. I asked the man handling the transactions that told me a different price on the copper if he can lend me some clippers and he said he cant let me borrow them yet he had my ID and I was going to do it right in front of him. Words cant explain how frustrated I was. I ended up taking a loss at the end of the day and affected me mentally due to financial struggles.

I live in Pleasant Hill, CA. They supposedly offer 2 free bulk pickups a year, which I never used…read morefor the 25 years I've lived there. But I'm moving, and tried to schedule one. First one was not picked up because I didn't know it had to be left in the street, and I left it next to the street. OK, so I called and rescheduled for a week later. This time, they simply did not come. I called the next day, and waited on hold for an hour or so to get it noted as a missed pickup, and schedule a pickup for that day if possible, or the next day. Well, it was not done at all. It looks like it was entered as bulk pickup, but the stupid software forces you to choose either trash, recycled, or yard waste that was missed, so that might be the problem. So, now I have to call again, as there is no place online to enter a missed bulk pickup. Their voicemail sucks, and the first time I called before, I was disconnected instead of transferred, and had to wait on hold another 45 minutes. This is just unacceptable, and I plan to complain to the city, although what can they do - there is no competition. Aren't monopolies wonderful!

After losing faith in Craig's List over the years, I had no idea what to do with my appliances and furnishings. I also wanted my items to "give back" to humanity. So, I called Bay Area Recycle. They were extremely helpful, informative and professional. They were unable to take my furnishings, but they referred me to someone who could help (Salvation Army and Bay Area Crisis Nursery). They WERE able to take my refrigerator for $35 cash, in a timely manner-- 2 days later! They removed the appliance from the storage unit, so I did not have to do any heavy lifting. Overall, an excellent experience. Why only 4 stars, and not 5? Well, they only accepted cash; and they only take electronics and appliances. However, I want to reiterate-- these folks are wonderful! I would use them again.

They quoted me: $40 for curbside pick-up or $65 to come up one-flight of stairs and remove it from my apartment. 2 guys showed up on time and the price I signed for was the price I was quoted. Plus, they recycle as much of the mattress as they can whereas the other companies just take it to the Dump.
