Below is what I posted earlier. I had called 3 days in a row with no response, and when I finally…read morefound an email to complain to, I got a response to post my complaint in Yelp. Well, that seemed to work, as I finally got service and a call from Republic Services to follow up. So I changed my review from 1 to 3. I'm happy they finally responded, but it should not have taken 3 days, nor the situation I posted on below. Republic Services did not pick up my black landfill barrel on Tuesday. I called Tuesday afternoon and they said it would be picked up by 6pm. It was not. I called Wednesday, and they said it was on schedule to be picked up Wednesday by 6pm. It was not picked up. I called on Thursday and they said it was on schedule to be picked up by 6pm on Thursday. It was not picked up. I don't know if they just blow off their customers with repeated lies, or they simply have no idea of what's going on in their service area. I don't know if there is any other service we are able to use, as it seems they have a monopoly, and I'm not sure complaints really help any considering the very low reviews this company has for their lack of service.

You guys didn't pick up my recycling bin on Tuesday, not a big deal. I called and scheduled another…read morepickup for today, a Thursday. You no-showed and you didn't call or email saying you weren't coming/were delayed. I tried to resolve this through your customer service bot, but that was an absolute waste of time. There is nothing I can do about your poor service since I can't cancel garbage service, so I'll just complain on Yelp hoping it makes me feel better.

After losing faith in Craig's List over the years, I had no idea what to do with my appliances and furnishings. I also wanted my items to "give back" to humanity. So, I called Bay Area Recycle. They were extremely helpful, informative and professional. They were unable to take my furnishings, but they referred me to someone who could help (Salvation Army and Bay Area Crisis Nursery). They WERE able to take my refrigerator for $35 cash, in a timely manner-- 2 days later! They removed the appliance from the storage unit, so I did not have to do any heavy lifting. Overall, an excellent experience. Why only 4 stars, and not 5? Well, they only accepted cash; and they only take electronics and appliances. However, I want to reiterate-- these folks are wonderful! I would use them again.

They quoted me: $40 for curbside pick-up or $65 to come up one-flight of stairs and remove it from my apartment. 2 guys showed up on time and the price I signed for was the price I was quoted. Plus, they recycle as much of the mattress as they can whereas the other companies just take it to the Dump.
