Our neighbor was scheduled to have their Republic trash and recycling cans picked up, but forgot to put them out. My trash can was on the curb on the very corner of our driveway, so Republic dumped our trash and took it. Over a week of numerous calls and no replacement trash can. First call I was told someone must have stole our trash can. I explained I have video of your company taking my trash can. They did not believe me. Second call was told I was lying and they did not pick up my trash can. Eventually they agreed to deliver a new trash can. Waited 4 days no trash can delivered. Third call litter told me the driver who picks up trash cans and he didn't take my trash can nor dump my trash on the curb - that I was lying. Then said that I called the incorrect department for trash can delivery so that is why no one delivered a trash can. Again, I explained I have video of them dumping my trash on curb and taking my can, so they agreed to have a trash can delivered the next day. No trash can the next day. Terrible! One star is very generous for Republic, I wish I could go lower. I canceled my service with them when I moved out of the area last month and scheduled a pickup of the containers. Republic first tried to reschedule the pickup multiple times and pick them up earlier but we needed the containers to get rid of trash before we moved out and I had paid through the end of the month. We put the containers out for pickup when we left the property and 14 days later they are still sitting in the street. I have called almost every day and the customer service person is always very apologetic and promises to schedule a pickup that then never happens. Today I was told that if they weren't picked up today, they would be picked up in August. This is completely unacceptable and a horrible way to run a business. read more

The cans were originally 3-4 feet apart the note they left says 3 feet apart but the driver scratched it out and wrote 5 feet apart in pen and took none of the garbage. Its been windy now we have to wait until next week for garbage to be picked up. read more

We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to correct the problem. They never did show up. Now, I call today to cancel my service, and they are telling me they are still going to charge me for the month?! Charge me?! First of all, they stop answering their phones at 5pm not 6pm as stated here. I was a customer for almost 3 decades. HOA wanted us to switch to a new provider. Tried to negotiate with Republic and was told they could only lower about $20. I told them I know others getting half of the cost I pay - including my own mother. They said no. Was shocked to have almost $100 added to my first invoice for additional fees - fuel/Environmental recovery and administrative. So, apparently 7 years ago, I submitted a 1-star (even though I wish I could give 0) for this company. Fast forward to the present, and this company's level of professionalism and service matches the junk that we pay them to pick up. Before, I had problems with their recycling and waste pick up. After that one month of terrible service, I can say it was okay since. My new issue is my yard waste pickup. Last fall, they missed my yard pick up 4 times in 5 weeks. And this week, they missed my pick up again. Keep in mind that after the miss, I called them right away the following day to request a pickup and stressed how I needed this resolved, as I cannot do yardwork if they don't empty out my yard waste bins. They told me they contacted operations and my waste would be picked up that day, nothing happened. I called this morning, same run around, no pickup. Now the office is closed for the weekend, and I can't do my yardwork. I hate changing service, but at this point, I think I have to push through and find someone else that works in this area. This company is prompt at collecting payment, but fails to deliver. I am so upset and frustrated now. It took 1.5hrs on the phone trying to connect with a customer service rep. and once I did they had to transfer me to the billing department which took another 1hour. They were good when they started, but are just awful now. I cancelled service after they broke one can and spilled the other without cleaning. They are supposed to pick up the cans after cancellation, but have missed 4 pickups so far and are trying to charge me for the missing cans. Stay far away from them. Update - 11 days later and they missed another pick up, and have not removed the charge on my cancelled account that is due to their own vast incompetence. Those who run this company are indeed thieves like other people have said here. They raised the bill saying we have too much trash and asked us to install locks on our dumpster. We did that but recently, they have missed multiple pickups. Its been a month now and they have not picked up our trash. we called and they said they could not get to it because access was blocked by some parked car. That was a lie because I stopped one of their truck picking up the dumpster at the business next to ours and he said he could not pick ours up because his truck was a back loader and ours need a front loader and that he would tell his boss to send and front loader. There was no vehicle blocking access the our small dumpster with wheels. Anyone can move this dumpster with one hand. They've never notified us about the missed pickups. read more

Generally speaking, Republic Services do an okay job. My issue with them is that when THEY mess up, they don't go out of the way to fix it. Specifically, I'm talking about the folks that do the actual pick ups. During this morning's pick up of recycle and yard waste, residual yard waste was strewn about in front of my driveway and one (yes, just one, but it should always be zero) aluminum can. When you click on missed collection on the website, it takes you to a page that says they will return in 24 hours. Calling to leave a message, disconnects the line. My Extremely Disappointing Experience with Republic Services I just had a very frustrating experience with Republic Services regarding a refund of $144.33. My account clearly shows a negative balance of -$144.33, yet my service was stopped. I spoke with a representative named Avony (this is the only name she gave me, and she refused to provide her last name). She informed me that she couldn't process the refund because the account had allegedly been transferred to another person. I was shocked and asked how that could be possible when I still live at the same address and have just renewed my lease for another year. She said, "Let me check," and after a few minutes, she came back saying, "It looks like there was some kind of error, but I still can't issue a refund until we get the trash cans. There are fees associated with that, and they must be paid first." I asked, "How much are the fees?" She replied, "How many trash cans do you have?" I asked her what their system showed, as I've been renting this home for over five years and have always had service with them. She insisted I tell her how many cans I use. I responded that I've been using one for years. She then said I'd have to pay fees for two other cans, one of which has a $30 charge, and for the other she wasn't sure but "assumes it's also $30." I said, "Wait a minute - I never denied having the cans, I simply said I don't remember how many there are. And are you telling me you're guessing the second fee based on the first? What kind of business is this?" I clarified that I have three cans: a large blue one, a medium black one, and a small yellow one. I asked her if these were the ones she was referring to. Her response? "I don't know. I don't live in that area!" Unbelievable. That's the level of professionalism I was met with from their Republic Services customer service. Eventually, I politely asked to speak with a supervisor. Thankfully, the supervisor I spoke with was helpful. She said they will process the refund today and said she would look into the issue of the account being listed under another name at my address and update me soon. I have now made 7 phone calls over 2 months to cancel my service. It has been very difficult to speak to an actual person and when I did she admitted that you can't cancel by calling your local office. Just when I thought it was a done deal I received a robo call that my service was being discontinued due to lack of payment! I paid for service for 15 years. This is a repeat report. RS does a fine job of routine and on schedule trash and recycle pickup. My review two years ago addressed the identical problem. We have had missed yard waste pickup for the last four weeks. So to avoid this, they appear to have removed any ability to enter an online complaint. If you don't call between their prescribed hours, and sit on the phone, they will acknowledge you were missed, and promise to do better. However because my regular trash pickup is the next day, the yard waste that I spent a lot of time and effort to separate, gets tossed into the regular trash. Yes, my yard waste is gone and that's good. Nope, it is not being recycled in a beneficial way. I give them two starts for the two services they deliver. Frustrating. read more

We changed to Evergreen from Republic the end of June as they are 1/3 of the price AND pick up all 3 types of trash on the SAME day instead of 3 different days. We were told our cans would be picked up on Monday July 7, 2025. They never were and we were assured on 6/26/25 that would happen. So I waited no pickup on Tuesday or Wednesday and then I called. The first person told me the date changed to 7/19/25 and I asked why didn't anyone tell us about the change and why? He said he didn't know and when I asked to speak to someone higher up I was on hold again and had to re explain it all over. Mind you it's been over an hour now. At least this lady was able to tell me 2 trucks were broken down and they were short staffed but all should be good for 7/19/25. So it's now 4 pm 7/19/25, a Saturday, and no pickup up yet and nobody is open to call. What now? It seems getting them to pick up their cans! Terrible company. Missed pickups. mixing of trash and recyclables, and VERY difficult to contact. Calling Customer services lines can result in a "hold" status for up to an hour or more. Customer service reps are always friendly and, I think, try to solve your problems, but the company doesn't follow through. We finally decided to terminate this service. So far, they have failed to pick up their containers on 3 occasions THEY scheduled, causing me to have to spend time contacting customer service again! It took 3 separate calls and over an hour of holding to cancel services due to a military move. They don't answer the phone, and they don't call you back when they say they will. I was supposed to get a call from a supervisor and it never happened. I also requested a call back when it was my turn in the holding queue and that never happened.
