Oh wow, another coffee shop operated by a small business owner. There's nothing I love more than supporting local business owners instead of huge chains like Starbucks. I enjoy quality coffee in general even if it has a higher price tag. Repose officially opened on April 15, 2025 and I've been there twice since they opened up. Visit #1: April 16, 2025. (20% off all drinks) **Spanish Latte (Hot): I read a review by a fellow yelper saying it's the best Spanish Latte they've ever had so I had to try it out! I opted out for oat milk which costed an additional $1. My drink was very milky, light, and had a very weak overall flavor. (1/5) **Espresso Tonic: I personally love ETs and I also love Fever Tree's tonic water. This particular drink was an absolute bust because I could barely taste the espresso. (1/5) Visit #2: April 18, 2025. **Americano (Iced): Espresso was over-roasted which made my drink on the bitter end. The overall flavor was also very weak and was watered down. (1/5) **Matcha Latte (Hot, Unsweetened): Opted out for oat milk for this one for an additional $1. The matcha itself was very bitter and the flavor was weak. (1/5) One good thing about this place is the customer service. From the moment you walk in to when you receive your drink and walk out that door, there is someone looking out for you. Interior ambiance is super minimalistic and very cozy. One other negative I will mention is that they skimp out on your drinks with the hot ones, as they leave a huge gap from the top from the already small cup size. Omg I came to a new aesthetic korean cafe that just opened in placentia. There are not many cafes like this in this area but im glad they made one in this city. Korean cafes are so beautiful and the dfinks are so good. I recommend coming here for their lattes like biscoff cream latte and matcha lattes!! I never saw a pretty Korean inspired cafe like this before. I was so impressed by the interior and the beautiful wooden tones and white porcelain vase decorations. I got the ham and cheese croissant which was crispy and delicious . But the drinks that were soo good were the strawberry matcha latte , biscoff cream latte, cold foam matcha, and panache mocha. All the drinks were delicious and I enjoyed each of them so much!! The owner happened to be there and she was so kind to explain the popular drinks and tell me about her cafe!! So I would say Matcha is my favorite drink and I tend to try a different spot every single week. If you like Matcha, that kind of taste like a vanilla latte I would really recommend it, but if you really like to taste that ceremonial grade might not be the best Matcha spot I did think for it to be a new location. The man at the counter continuously insisted I try the iced butterscotch latte, even though I planned to get vanilla. I ended up really disliking the butterscotch latte, and they refused to give me a new flavor. Perfect place to study/work. Coffee tastes great and the staff are very friendly. Its located in a plaza, so there are plenty of free parking available, and there are a decent amount of tables inside and a couple outside. This was my first visit. I wanted to try a new coffee place in a nearby place. I'd give Repose a 2.5 stars (neutral) on their drinks. It wasn't bad, yet it wasn't anything to rave about either. Barely enough. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte (sub oat milk) with cold foam. Overall, the taste was milky, standard ceremonial matcha and barely any cold foam top. I've had better. This wasn't worse though. The upside was the incredible customer service. A+. Everyone was friendly. The staff would either greet you or smile. Very welcoming. I owed my team a treat and saw this was a new spot on DoorDash and gave it a shot to help support small business. The 8 drinks were ready quickly and the whole team LOVED the drinks. I usually just pass my phone around to the crew and let them order - they didn't really take a look at the store we're ordering from and they all came asking the name of the coffee shop so they can go there on their own. Two big thumbs up for Repose. Only critique I would have is to request they label every drink in a large order. I ordered the matcha tonic to go and an espresso shot for here. Matcha tonic 4/5 - I got it without the yuzu due to allergens I have and their yuzu puree not being made in house. I think the matcha was overpowered by the tonic water so I wasn't able to taste it as much as I'd like. Overall it was a refreshing drink and I got mostly what I wanted from it, however, I do think that the yuzu would've completely overpowered the matcha flavor so I am happy I got it without. Espresso 4.5/5 - I think my shot was a little under for me but I saw them put effort into making sure I got a nicely pulled shot. They also didn't pull my shot straight into my cup which I appreciate. I don't particularly like coffee blends and wish they offered single origin but I understand the waste and cost that goes into having to have a SO espresso. Regardless it was a good shot and I like the care and effort that went into it. I believe the owner was working there when I went and the baristas looked like they were having a good time. I loved seeing this. I think that shows in their service which was a 5/5. A critique I have is I do think they could wipe down the tables a little more often. I say this as I have celiac and the pastry crumbs make me a little nervous to spread out on the tables. Overall I would give 4.5/5 stars so I'm rounding up to 5 Credibility: I used to run a coffee shop that has made it into LA Times top 10 coffee shops for the past 3 years. Okay I have mixed feelings....Very cute coffee shop and I like the latte I tried (ganache latte). Not enough outlets, which is fine if you're not working. It's extremely quiet inside and the lady who appears to be the owner seems strict. The 2 young male workers were having a conversation (there were no new customers at the time) and the lady came in saying "stop talking about personal stuff" which is weird because the purpose of a trendy coffee shop is to create that ambiance. She hovers over them as they work and it was weird to see. There's no culture established yet and I don't think she will allow that if she continues to micromanage. I don't know that I'll come back, but nice place. Let your workers enjoy their time. As someone who used to work at a coffee shop, the relationships you build with the other baristas makes the experience fun for both the workers and the guests. If the workers are serious and clearly intimidated by their superior, It doesn't make people want to come back. I had to work on something so I was here about 2 hours and this is what I observed. Both of them said, "Can we get this delivered to our house?" We live in Irvine but I promised to return when we come for my next nail appointment. No one would expect a place like Repose to exist in Placentia; more so NYC or Europe! Repose is the most perfect way to start the day. the strawberry lemonade was super good but there is WAY too much ice compared to drink- my sister also asked for light ice on the matcha latte but they only filled it 3/4 of the way which is absurd for a $7 drink thats already in a small cup. our drinks hardly made it out the parking lot and the matcha was a lil grainy. i rly like the atmosphere of the cafe but for the $6+ drinks that last a few sips- you can make it at home. never made a review before until now. my sister is quite disappointed:( read more
