I have gotten extremely fond of Golden State. They have wonderfully flavored espresso with lots of variety in coffee drinks and pastries. Their matcha and their iced Spanish latte are my favorites! Pricing is affordable. Baristas are always friendly and knowledgeable. They have lots of restrooms inside. There's a HUGE amount of indoor seating. I just wish they had more sizes than a 16oz and I wish they'd have a loyalty system. But definitely a 5 star coffee shop! read more

Phenomenal spot!! The location is in Old Towne Placentia which is already a vibe for me, it reminds me of my home country so much. It's right next to the metro station so there's lots of parking nearby on top of street parking. This was our first time and it did not disappoint! Not only is this place HUGE but it's so nice inside and comfy and such a great spot to hang out with a large group or even come to study! They have the roaster out on the floor as well that you can see behind glass windows which just added to the ambiance inside. The barista was sweet and answered all my questions. Food and drinks came out fast! I am still currently caffeine free so I ordered a hot chocolate with a turkey sausage breakfast sandwich. It was so delicious and hit the right spot!! They also have tapatío in the middle counter in case you need spice like I do. My husband got their famous Spanish latte iced! He said it was on the sweeter side and was glad he also ordered a double shot of espresso on the side to toss into it. So keep in mind you may want to add shots if you like your drinks stronger. He also had the chorizo breakfast sandwich and it was very well made and didn't need any added spice. We will definitely be back here! Such a good hang out spot for large groups!! read more

First time here and less than a mile from the office. Located in a small old town quaint neighborhood of Placentia. There's very limited parking on the street but lots of parking in the back. Located in an old building, inside they have their own roasters with a wide open space for mobile working. Very very large open space by the counter. They have all year long coffees and tea menu and a seasonal menu. Small bite patties and sandwiches are available. Quick to order. The chorizo breakfast sandwich is really good with the chipotle sauce. Seasonal campfire latte is pretty tasty. Wish they had the maple latte on the menu. Maybe next year. I used to come here a lot more in the past, then I stopped, but I didn't remember why. Then my most recent visit jogged my memory. The atmosphere and ambiance of this coffee shop is great - I love the brick walls and the spaciousness. Definitely hipster vibes. It looks like it's built to be a place to work and have meetings, but very relaxed at the same time. They also have numerous outlets. On the day I went, I ordered a dirty matcha latte, which isn't on their menu but they said they can do it (just add an espresso shot to their matcha latte). I also ordered an avocado toast. To be honest it seemed like the workers didn't want to be there, because they were very robotic and didn't give any eye contact when I picked up my order. My dirty matcha was incredibly clumpy, which I can't fully blame them for as it was an off-menu item, but it just wasn't great. The avocado toast wasn't even on toasted bread. The wifi connection was horrible, to the point that I just wrote in my journal for an hour or so and left. This is a recurring issue and probably why I stopped coming before. All this being said, if I just came here to grab one of their menu drinks and hang out with a friend or a book, I'm sure that would be a fantastic experience. But as a place to work I'd probably go elsewhere, especially if you need good internet connection. Or use a good hotspot! read more

Have been get a few times, each time ordering a different coffee. I've gotten the Bacon muffin sandwich each time which I really like. The English muffin is nice and crispy and it's not bread heavy. There's also a good amount of thin bacon on it. They have a fall special Apple spice latte, which I ordered and very much enjoyed! It's a homemade apple spice/purée type in the latte. I found it to taste a lot better than it sounds. The inside is very spacious with several different areas to sit. I usually bring my dogs so I have to sit outside with them. The issue with outside is that when it's hot out, the area for seating gets very hot with minimal shade. The last time we were there, they had these tilted umbrellas out and placed in their lightweight tables. Well, the tilted umbrella ended up leaning too much and knocked the table over. Fortunately didn't hurt my dogs. The other side of the street has much better shade in the late mornings. Now that it should be getting cooler, hopefully won't be an issue! But the outside seating alone prevents me from coming here more often. read more

Was in the area for a tournament and trying to find a local coffee shop over the tons of chains. Saw this on Google Maps and was immediately drawn in seeing photos that they had their own coffee bean roaster. Went on a Friday late morning. There were lots of people in there working, but it's such a big space that it didn't feel crowded at all. They sell other local products aside from coffee, which was nice. The staff was very nice and personable. We ordered an Americano, flat white, and a london fog latte (which was on the countertop menu). The pastries looked delicious, but we had already eaten. Everyone loved their drinks. We were so glad we drove an extra couple minutes to get way better coffee! read more

This place in tucked in a small town. Possibly the best thing around there. The interior of this place is very spacious. The baristas behind the counter were pleasant in my first time experience there. The girl behind the counter was very helpful in providing me with options between the nitro cold brew and the standard cold brew. The barista who made my drinks handed them over to me with a genuine pride in the quality of drink she made. I don't think I would go back to the place for coffee because it would be going out of my way, but that doesn't mean anything about the service or the quality of a solid cold brew coffee. The space is massive and looks like a nice place for to hang out if you're want a nice place to have coffee and read. They had food too and it was very reasonably priced. I had a pour over of their freshly roasted Costa Rican coffee ($21 bag) and my wife had a campfire latte. They stop selling drip coffee at noon-ish, but it's between $3-4 and competitively priced. The baristas were top notch and they were meticulous about making the best drinks possible. Everything was measured and technique was on par. Both drinks were fantastic and my wife and I were so happy to visit. If we lived nearby, this would instantly become my local coffee shop and roaster for whole beans to grind and brew at home. Never have I felt as discriminated against as I did today at 3:15PM 5/15. I've been here a few times and live locally. I walked into the shop today and there was no line, barely any customers and at least 5 staff members all standing around. Upon walking from the entrance and then up to order, the staff member who was working the register, a white man with a beanie and glasses made direct eye contact with me (a Hispanic woman, and my boyfriend a black man), did not say a single word or give any type of welcome or acknowledgment, carried on with a conversation amongst coworkers, turning back and forth to engage with the other workers while my boyfriend and I stood there waiting to be acknowledged. Horrible customer service. At least 5 workers and not one person can say hello to a customer? I refuse to give business to an establishment who thinks it's acceptable to treat their patrons like garbage and be discriminatory. A simple greeting or basic human decency to acknowledge a customer should be standard practice. I will NOT be returning and cannot encourage others enough NOT TO COME HERE unless you want to be discriminated against as well. read more

The space is stunning. So spacious, literally such an ideal workspace. However the coffee sadly missed the mark. I have nothing good to say about the coffee. I got a flat white and for me there are no redeeming qualities. The after notes of the coffee reminded me of manure. I wish I were exaggerating but I gave some to my friend to try and he said it tasted like coffee that was leftover from the day before. This is upsetting because I really wanted to like the coffee here. I was visiting from LA and sifted through tons of coffee shops on Yelp, landing on this one. The coffee here is smooth. In the AM, I enjoy my beautifully designed Flat White Latte. When I come in the PM, I usually get the Dopio which they provide with a cup of soda. The icing on the cake is the large space which usually guarantees a spot I can work at. This makes my drive worthwhile.
