    Waiting room

I am very happy with this business. I went to this location for the first time yesterday, November 1, 2023. I decided to start using Renown more often for labs since the results they provide are more detailed than either the ones from LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics. They are similar to the lab reports from UCSF in San Francisco, which I use often and like. Maing an appointment was easy to do online, through MyChart. There were plenty of time slots available when I signed up (although I did sign up a few months in advance), as well as various Reno locations to choose from. Check-in was also easy, as I simply did it though my phone and just signed their check-in clipboard at the front. Since I had an appointment, I was called before the other person who had been waiting longer, though since it was later in the day, that person was the only other one there. It did take some time for the front desk person to sort through everything, because I had a total of six tests to be done from two different out-of-state doctors. [Tip: though you should always consult your doctor to be sure, and this is not to be construed as medical advice, you generally do not need to fast before a lipid panel, unless you have high triglycerides, even though the lab order says you should. Look it up for yourself if you don't believe me.] The good is I did not have to produce any insurance cards since I had supplied that info online. As I waited, I noticed they had a very large waiting room, with patients restrooms, a water dispenser and cups, and even USB and AC charging outlets on a counter, as well as regular AC outlets by many of the chairs. There was also free and easy-to-use Wi-Fi. [Please note, the lab services is co-located in the same suite as the Renown Medical Group (family practice), so you have to makes sure you go to the right check-in (family practice is on the left and lab services is on the right).] After they had finished my paperwork, I was promptly called in. The phlebotomist, Rebecca, was ultra professional and super nice. She apologized as she became the only phlebotomist on duty, as the other had left (although she didn't need to as I wasn't even ready yet). She did the blood draw quite easily, with no bruising left. I also had to provide a urine sample, which I did so in the restroom, which was clean. I asked Rebecca for a receipt, since I needed proof of my visit, for mileage purposes, and she said it would be on MyChart. I was skeptical since the lab I have used at UCSF also uses MyChart, but there is never an after-visit summary. But she insisted there would be one, and sure enough, when I checked later, it was there! As I left, the front desk people said bye to me...very friendly! Parking, by the way, was easy. Even though this office is in The Summit shopping center with lots of tony stores like Apple and Sephora, it is located near the southwest end, so there is plenty of space. The shopping center is also very close to the freeway, which made it even easier. So bottom line: use Renown! The are good people who care!

I have been at this facility for lab work ordered by a doctor as a drop in patient or with a scheduled appointment. Early in the morning, drop-in works pretty well without having to wait too long. For sure, an appointment makes it quicker. The staff is friendly, professional and proficient. The lab tech was professional, personable, caring and proficient . The facility is clean, spacious and comfortable.

Gustavo was fantastic. I would highly recommend him. I had multiple lab work needed to be done. Paperwork took about 15 minutes and lab work was done in about 5 minutes. Quick.

LabCorp takes appointments (I'm not too sure about QuestDiagnostics). I arrived at the facility shortly before my 9:45 appointment time, leaving enough time to check-in at the kiosk and with the receptionist. The waiting area was full of people; it was standing room only. But fifteen minutes later, the phlebotomist calls me in to the office, draws my blood and I'm on my merry way! Appointments rule! The staff were pretty friendly and they tried to be as accommodating as possible. I do have a critique about the seating arrangement; I don't know why all the chairs were bunched up in the middle of the room instead of spread out like it use to be but this new close-knit arrangement makes me a little claustrophobic; I didn't like sitting that close to a person who may or may not be sick. Sorry but I didn't care for it. Other than that, I'd opt to go to LabCorp over Quest Diagnostics just for the sheet convenience of not having to wait 2 hours for a 6-minute procedure.

One rang the bell and the lady just kept telling them to use the kiosk, and when they said they were trying she kept saying use the kiosk, use the kiosk, use the kiosk. The person gave up and left. The second person needed help and after watching that, I helped. I was able to help them get their license scanned and checked in. This person was not a English first language, the lack of help was appalling to me. Then the billing. I have visited several times and not showing payments posted. I called and asked for a statement of account. Any provider should be able to provide this, it is a list of services and payments. I was told I would be sent the statement, what I received was individual copies of bills. I noticed a payment was not posted, I called back and the person, says, "there is another bill". (Why do I not have it, I thought) I said I requested a full statement of my account. She said, "we don't do that, we can only send copies of individual bills" so I asked again to have a copy of every single bill sent so I can reconcile to make sure my payments are posted. I am now waiting for that, but I will not use Quest ever again. It is ridiculous that they can't print one statement for me with everything and they way they treated people in person was degrading. Go elsewhere if you can.

She had a very bad attitude and spoke to us as if she was there working for free and we we're intruding on her space. She kept saying she couldn't find my daughter's information in the system while taking her time and taking long pauses between questions. Emma Vega kept insisting we get back in line while the information pops up. Since when are people pushed to the side because of a "system failure" instead of attending us?! We did not get labs because of this rude, unprofessional woman who for some reason took her hate for her job out on my daughter and I. Emma Vega needs to realize that people have a very specific need for getting labs that are detrimental to health checks for the purpose of wellness and medical adjustments! Disgusting behavior!!!
