Rennit NYC is very unprofessional, invasive, and shady. In September 2025 I applied for an apt and one of their leasing agents never actually returned multiple requests to see the apt. I happened to see people viewing the apt near my home, and I walked in. After seeing the apt, the agent took my number and sent me the link to apply, which I did promptly. I submitted W2, photo ID, 3 pay stubs, portfoilo statements, recent bank statements. Once docs were submitted they demanded a Zoom meeting where I was asked to send a copy of proof of rent payments for my current apt. Once they got this , they asked for 2 more bank statements. (The other 2 bank statements and proof of rent payments were NOT a requirement of the application.) A week later, my application was denied and credit was never run. This was an invasive, discriminatory practice. My credit score is fine and income is more than sufficient. I would not apply with this business again. They are discriminatory and shady. read more

We had one group come while we were moving without warning. When I notified the agent this, they were combative and accused me and the people who showed up of lying. If I could leave zero stars, I would. My partner and I were excited to tour a unit in Sunset Park and appreciated that Ely was very responsive. BUT, when we entered the apartment, we were greeted with hundreds of plastic bottles filled with urine. More adornments included a stained mattress pushed against the entry hall, and a bedroom with an entire corner stuffed with assorted trash. Ely expected us to continue past the mattress, a clear biohazard, to tour the rest of the unit. He acted as if this was normal, and did not attempt to apologize once. It is a blatant act of bad faith for a broker to charge hundreds of dollars in fees for a unit that they clearly had never stepped foot in before. It was also obvious that there was no communication between him and the building management regarding the state of the unit. How can a broker charge a $2400 fee for treatment like this? read more

Moishe asked me to amend my one star review which was based on my landlord breaking the law and stealing form me. I had asked the broker who was showing my apartment on behalf of this landlord for help because I had been completely ghosted by the landlord and his secretary and I was desperate to find a way to contact them and get my money back. This broker did nothing to help me. When I posted a review on yelp, Moishe did reach out to me and the landlord to make sure the issue was resolved. I appreciated the help but wish it had come when I originally asked over a month ago NOT as a consequence of a negative public review. Since I was asked to amend my feedback, I can also add that those from Rennit who showed my apartment left my door unlocked and opened and left all the lights on after being asked not to. As others have pointed out, Rennit does charge an application fee which they are able to do through a legal loophole. In NYC application fees are illegal and at the time I paid the fee because I was desperate to move quickly but in the future I would not work with anyone still charging application fees through some legal loophole when it's very possible to apply for apartments in the city for free. Since I was asked to review again, I am doing so, but unfortunately my experience was subpar and in the future I would not work with Rennit again and nor can I recommend them. read more

After searching endlessly on StreetEasy for days to look for the right apartment, I stumbled upon an apartment put up by Rennit NYC. Thankfully, they were absolutely phenomenal! I cannot say how much my gf and I were pleased with their service. Yafa was our agent and showed us the apartment -- she was kind, courteous, and patient. Throughout our tour she never rushed us, provided all the details we needed for renting, and continued to support us during the process of renting the apartment. We feel so lucky to have worked with Yafa and her team at Rennit. Manny from Rennit might be one of the worst real estate agents we have ever dealt with. That's saying a lot in NYC. He showed up about 25 minutes late after corresponding with us all day. Then had us sit outside as he knocked on the apartment door announcing himself for another 10 minutes with no one answering. Lastly he asked us if we had any interest in another unrelated neighborhood to which my girlfriend and I both answered no. He then proceeded to ask us around 15 more times and ignored our no's. He also said he'd email us other properties they had and then never sent the email. If you have Manny contact you from Rennit request another agent or look for a different agency. I spent countless hours over two weeks just to submit simple forms because their website was so difficult to navigate and customer service was so poor. Multiple people on my end tried emailing, calling, and texting with Rennit representatives and got little to no help. No one on their end seemed to be communicating or taking any notes about the issues, making it drawn out and extremely frustrating. It got to the point where if I saw a property was managed by Rennit, I would just scroll past it even if it checked all my boxes. I went to view an apartment on their list and he was the broker meeting me there. The apartment I viewed did not have the detail or amenities I needed so he "single handedly" took me to at least 5-7 places each time we met. Maybe 3-4 times at 7 each time.....you do the math. I moved from San Francisco to NYC during COVID and my entire apartment hunt was done remotely. I was very nervous to get everything in order, and I'll be honest that the additional fee did turn me off a bit ($80 for dual agent related fee), BUT what I got in return was above and beyond anything I could ask for. I had a very pleasant and engaging experience with David and Aliyah. They were so responsive and helpful and proactive with everything every step of the way. They were advocates for getting our application approved and helped us overcome hurdles to us getting our dream apartment. There was a slight delay in getting welcome info from the property manager after the lease was signed, and they jumped on it and resolved everything so fast. My family and two other families used this company to find an apartment in Brooklyn for our college kids attending school in NYC. During the process, one of the employees, Izzy, called us the "shitty file." This Izzy person, according to internet reviews on the company, has a history of discriminating against certain people (minorities). We feel that calling us "shitty file" influenced the owner of the apartment we wanted to rent, and we were turned down. On July 21, I personally contacted via email, the person who is supposed to be in charge, Moishe, and asked him for a conversation to talk about what happened to the owner's decision. Moishe said that we could talk on July 24, but he never called me and didn't respond to my email on the same day. This company, in specific Izzy, discriminated against us based on racial profiling (we are African American and Hispanic families) calling us "shitty file," resulting in a negative outcome to our applications for an apartment in Brooklyn. Izzy got a slap on the wrist and is still employed by this company. The company knows very well about Izzy's history of discriminatory and racist behavior and practices and they cover it up. read more

BEWARE!! This company is a RIP OFF. First I was charged a $100 application fee in which I know is illegal now. Real estate company is suppose to only charge the standard $20 fee to pull a credit report. When I challenged Izzy (Broker) about it he said I was paying for "special" services in addition. for example he could talk to rental mgmt on behalf of us to help get approved and will show us many other units as well for no additional fee if the one in question doesn't work out. I was shown a rental that I felt completely in love with. It had everything and more that I wanted. So of course I was persuaded to give up the steep $100 fee in which I knew was a scam. They wanted the other 2 applicants to as well pay $100 each as well. WTF? I asked them to waive it bc it was beyond ridiculous. However they did agree to waive it. Izzy was ok in the beginning. He would respond pretty quickly but was always on his phone while showing us the unit both times. It was like he was not interested in being bother by us. I felt we weren't the "right" kind of applicants for this unit in his eyes. It was a penthouse unit. After being strung along for weeks, Aliyah from the office called us in for an appointment with the rental management. I'm thinking ok wow, it looks like we got the apartment. They had all our paperwork, income, credit scores, etc. Why would they call us in for an in person interview if we weren't strong applicants and ready for a lease to be presented. And note, I've been going back and fourth with these people with docs and answering all the questions asked. They knew everything before hand. We all get there and sat down with both Moishe and Aliyah and the guy from the rental mgmt. Lets call him PA (Prick Asshole) It started off pleasant. Then he had our files and started going through them asking us questions that was already answered prior coming to this meeting. I didn't mind the same questions again but it was the way he asked them. He talked to us as if we were children and every answer we gave him to his questions, he kept challenging our questions with sarcastic remarks and more questions on top of the answers we already gave. At the end of the meeting he then said, well... we have another person coming to see the unit on Sunday (this day was Friday) and if they didn't measure up, then he would see. WTF?!?! Ok, WHY would you call us in for an appointment and you're still planning on showing someone else the apt after making this appt with us? Aliyah looked uncomfortable in the meeting as well as her partner Moishe. They knew at that point we weren't gonna get the apt. She later on texted me AFTER I had to reach out first. She says it doesn't look good for us. Then afterwards, I haven't heard anything from them since. Izzy has NEVER reached out with additional units. O wait he did give me an address to look at a place on my own. That was in the beginning after we 1st met & after showing us the 1st unit, BEFORE the "meeting". That unit was in the hood across the street from the projects in Bushwick. I guess he figured we would fit better there. He told me it was a 3 bed in which I requested..., got there it was a tiny 2 bed apt. Our experience was horrible. We were kept hanging on a string for almost a month by them to just not say yes or no. RENNIT, TELL EVRYONE WHY IS THERE A $100 APPLICATION FEE?? They came across some kind of loop hole to scam and take advantage of people. I told this story to another broker and he was aware of Rennit's loophole they found to take people money while not even helping them further with other apartment searches if one unit denies your application. Stay away from them. They tend to probably be more favorable to others who don't look like me. The rental mgmt is hasidic Jew. So I was prepared for the kind of personality we encountered. You get my drift. I will make sure my other 2 applicants follow up with a review as well. read more

Two roommates and I were in search of an apartment for the month of October- and Rennit proved to be an untrustworthy realtor. They gave us a tour of a perfect apartment and although the application fees were the steepest that we encountered ($100 for every applicant and $100 for each guarantor $500 in total for the 3 of us) we went forward because the place was so nice. Right before submitting our applications we checked with Rennit that the apartment was still available because the listing was taken off all sites that night. They said it was, but the next day we were informed that the apartment's management had already chosen an application that was submitted right before us. Rennit offered us free applications to all other apartments they had listed because of the non-refundable fees. This was helpful but we did feel trapped in choosing one the few apartments they had that would meet our needs because of the $500 we gave them. It also did not help that no one from Rennit answered our calls, texts or emails for 4 days after our denied application. We then had applied to another apartment and was given a meeting with the apartments management. Though halfway into the 2 hour drive to the city, Moishe called us all to notify us that the meeting was cancelled and the apartment had once again gone to another applicant. This bothered us because that apartment was specifically noted as a Rennit exclusive- therefore Rennit had kept submitting applications after our group had applied. We said OK please let us know about the one other apartment we had been interested in, our last choice. They then said Rennit would call us the next day and we had never heard from them. While Moishe and Ary were very friendly and personable while looking at apartments in person-we felt extremely ripped off and frustrated from our experience with Rennit. We later on found an apartment from another realtor which had the normal $20 application fee. read more
