I'm not sure where to even begin raving about the experience I had with Target Realty Group. I…read morerecently moved to Brooklyn from Baltimore and one can imagine the price range shock as I looked at each apartment. I had also been told numerous horror stories about brokers in NYC but I had the pleasure of calling TRG and working with Lotfi to find the perfect apartment, and it really is perfect. In the beginning, the first apartment I had seen I wanted but unfortunately did not think I could afford the place and after a day of confusing back and forth "yes, wait no," with Lotfi I thought I had completely burned any bridge of ever using him. This was after he spent him day showing me multiple apartments that fit my requirements and were just beautiful. He knew that I needed to live in a safe area and in an apartment that accepted pets and only showed me apartments that were up to *HIS* standards. (Which is great, because I had seen some apartments that I highly doubt the broker showing me them would live.) Either way, the next day Lotfi called me and told me he had spoken to the landlord of the place I fell in love with and that she would be willing to work with me. I was flabbergasted that he went out of his way to make sure that I lived somewhere that I loved mostly because I felt like I had completely wasted his time the day before! Well within a day all of the paperwork was done and he had jumped through hurdles to help me. I can't praise Lotfi enough for his kindness and dedication to what he does, he's really just amazing. No stress, nothing tiresome on my end, and I had found my place within three days of coming to look. He even worked with me to arrange times for my sister to pick things up because I was back in Baltimore before I moved to my new place. Seriously, Lotfi gave me the best experience I could ever imagine when it comes to dealing with a broker and who can say that in New York?

Lotfi was amaaaazing. My husband and I were stressed after encountering several unfriendly and…read moreunhelpful brokers. Lotfi was the complete opposite -- he spoke on our behalf, was honest about the areas we were searching, and made the paperwork process super simple. We cannot recommend him enough!

A wild ride, but worth it. Four stars now, possibly five when I settle into my new home…read more A roommate and I worked with Tom O'Malley, who helped us narrow down a spot that was within our budget. We knew right away that this guy was down-to-earth, likable, and on our side as much as the landlord's side. This was very important, as I know many agents treat tenants like mere faces to another paycheck. When we backed out of a first apartment, Tom suggested several others, one of which became the one. We had a lot of issues with Rhino (not MySpace NYC's fault), but Tom humanized the challenge with us and ultimately helped us work things out. Throughout the process, we've FaceTimed, texted, and he even bought my friend and I coffee after a viewing. Four weeks later, we signed our lease, and we just got the keys this past weekend. My roommate and I don't officially move into the place for another couple weeks, so we've got hope it was a great fit!

Roomeze - Rooms for rent nyc

I found out about "Roomeze" by using the "Roomi" app. One of the people I requested to message on…read morethere, happened to work for Roomeze. This was the first time I've heard of Roomeze and being that it was very close to the date I had planned to move to the city, it was very convenient. Brittany Rose, the roommate match maker who I was in contact with throughout the entire process was helpful and available throughout the process. She answered my calls/texts and questions that I had at various times of the day and kept me updated with the files and documents I needed to have for the landlord. You can tell that she truly wanted to help me anyway she could, which was especially nice since I am not a NY native. She was great, however I believe that the Roomeze businesses as a whole (not specifically blaming Brittany or any of the reps I talked to) , partner landlords, and guarantor company's should be on one accord and follow a semi standard procedure that states things such as; what the three parties offer, the things that can make you less qualified for getting a room, the exact or rough estimate of a cost and explanation of certain "fees" and items that you would need to move in, etc. Instead of adding on fees and documents at the last minute for reasons that some of the reps (from either party) couldn't explain or make a correlation of the fees to the services previously offered.

Pretty nightmare experience with this "roommate matching service". I was in a situation where I…read moreneeded a new place to live in less than a month and didn't have a lot of options. I was so relieved when I thought I had found an apartment that was exactly what I wanted, but not so thrilled when the agent sprung the Roomeze literature on me after the showing. I've always been skeptical about companies like Roomeze in NYC and after the experience I've had, I wish I listened to my gut and looked elsewhere. Firstly, their roommate matching "process" is non-existent. You're completely going in blind to 12 months with strangers just like you'd be if you were moving into any other usual Craigslist apartment. They show you some pictures and bios of the random people they've thrown you together with and that's it. Other than that you won't actually meet the strangers that will be your roommates for the next year until you're all sitting in the Roomeze office while your agent hovers over you pressuring you all to sign the lease. That brings me to the second most important point. The Roomeze process. All you need to know is that once you put in your deposit, you're screwed. Once they have your deposit, Roomeze dangles it over your head to coerce you into doing anything they want because their terms and conditions will prevent you from ever seeing that money again if you disagree with anything they force you into. My experience was, after my agent suddenly bumped my rent up $25 more than we agreed, i started having doubts. Then they filled one of the rooms in the apartment with somebody i definitely didn't think i'd fit with and had some more doubts. No matter what I said to my agent, he just ignored me and tried to steamroll me into coming into the Roomeze office and signing the lease. After expressing all my doubts about the situation my agent started to harass me daily about the lease. After reviewing the lease, you'd have to be crazy to sign it. First thing I noticed on the agreements were the words "jointly and severally responsible". What that means is, if any of the randos Roomeze throws in with you stops paying rent, you're on the hook for that rent. No way was I signing that, not with 3 strangers I barely knew. After I refused to sign my agent went on a guilt trip to the point I had to block his number because the texts and the calls just wouldn't stop. Can't emphasize enough, do not get involved with Roomeze. Totally wasted my time and money and stressed me out for weeks, don't let the same happen to you.

We had been living in Greenpoint since 2002, but moved upstate in 2017. After four years of that, Covid and all, we knew we belonged in Greenpoint and wanted our kids to continue grow up there. Living in the city has its challenges, but re-locating back to the city with growing kids is even more challenging. I scheduled a meeting day and time with Adam. The morning of, I messaged Adam and confirmed that we were meeting that day. He confirmed. I then ubered 30 minutes to the location just to be told by Adam that he does not have the key to the unit nor was the landlord in the building to open the door, to show the apartment. Why would you confirm the showing, if you knew you did not have the key to the unit? Why not contact me prior to me paying for an uber and driving 30 mins out of my way, to tell me you didn't have the key? I emailed Ivana and told her what had happened and asked her to correct this and never heard back from her. Extremely unprofessional. Large part of me believes they are racist. Adam waited until I arrived at the location, to see what I looked like and just claimed he didn't have the key. Only explanation I can think of.
