returned to Damyan (& father) for a full brake job...i swapped out OEM rotors for slotted rotors (and new pads) @ 52k...such a great experience here then! my purchase of rotors for the rear then was wrong and Damyan was able to secure some Akebono rotors for me within minutes...today i brought in EBC rotors and some StopTech pads. brake job completed by them in less than 2 hours. an exhaust leak i asked to have checked was a crack along the j-pipe near one of the hangers...fortunately it will be repairable by welding today thx guys! always always a great experience here read more

Brought my car there to fix my car to get it to smog. Was told there is a 2 month wait and I had to source a ecu. I was patient and book the appointment. I told them what was wrong. They said they could fix it. I paid 900$ and a had to source my own part. I get a call the cars done. I picked it up no check engine light. I drove it home on the way home check engine light comes back on. Turns out they didn't fix anything. They wanted me to book another appointment and spend more money. My engine blew for the second time on the stock motor at a 101,000k. I have a 2014 WRX and there was no other car that currently appealed to me. So I decided I wanted to get it rebuilt but I wasn't going to do it with a stock Subaru block because they're just too unreliable. I contacted renner racing because they had the highest reviews on yelp and man they did not disappoint. I currently am in the Auto industry as a service manager for South Bay Mazda. The patience of my advisor Damien was outstanding. When I dropped off my vehicle I had the ability to have someone from my dealership pick me up but he offered to take me instead. He was always professional and would respond back to text messages or emails in a timely manner. They kept me informed every step of the way and quoted me about 8 weeks for my engine build but I believe they got it done in a little under 4 weeks. They put an IAG stage 2 tuff motor, rebuilt my trans and installed a new clutch. As well as ordered a cobb tuner for me. He helped me install the cobb tuner once I picked up my vehicle. He also let me know how the car would behave on the first 30 miles which had he not told me that I would have probably been furious. But everything he explained was literally what happened in the first 30 miles. I believe the shop is a gem in the Subaru community. I'm so grateful for their help with the quality and care they put into building my vehicle. If I could I would definitely hire him as an advisor at my dealership....lol. Also his dad rebuilt my transmission and it shifts amazingly. Thank you guys so much I'm extremely grateful for your attention to detail and amazing customer service. Extremely stoked I found this shop. Damyan the shop extraordinaire was extremely transparent with me the entire time my beloved Subie was with him! I wasn't sure exactly what had caused everything to happen so upon diagnosis he kept me up to date with anything they had found and I never once felt taken advantage of which is huge to me. He's extremely knowledgeable and advised on upgrading certain parts that were almost identical in price but much more reliable so I wouldn't be back in the shop for that same issue again. I found these fine gentleman after some research online when my 2016 WRX was having problems after a handful of mods and miles. Of course we come to find out that the innards of the FA20 platform aren't quite built for power like its predecessors and sure enough I had cracked some pistons and blew some rings. Peter and Damyan and the crew were honest, transparent and thorough during the whole process. They rebuilt the ole gal better than ever. They treat each car as if it were there own and are true enthusiasts at heart. I drive to Carson now for even the simplest of things because when it comes to our race cars, there is nothing more comforting than a mechanic who cares (and knows there way around your car). DO NOT TRUST THE PEOPLE WORKING HERE! If they can tell that you may not fully understand what's going on with your car they will rip you off! Take someone with you who is mechanically inclined so that they don't take advantage of you. Or just go somewhere else. I had a vacuum leak and coolant leak. They charged me $200 to do a smoke test and stop the coolant leak but did neither. Just be careful when coming here. Took my 2011 WRX in yesterday to find a boost/vacuum leak. I recently had a new engine installed (unfortunately Not by Renner). My accessport showed it was possibly a solenoid line issue. They ran a smoke test to check for any and all leaks which I was happy about because of all the recent work. It was a simple fix and they had me on the road within an hour. They didn't try and up-sell, they were honest and very knowledgeable. I've always wanted to go to them for work... they are just about 60 miles away from me. Just had my Mk1 VW Rabbit engine rebuilt by Renner Racing Development - this after they already retrofitted a later generation 02A transmission to my car's early block (see my previous Nov. '16 review). At risk of being very repetitive, Peter and Anthony did an excellent job and for more than a reasonable price. Prior to the rebuild, was burning oil and coolant presumably from poor rings, valve seals, seats, bogus head casket, etc. - the usual suspects. After the rebuild, the engine wants to accelerate, is noticeably energetic, gas mileage is much improved and nothing is burning. Of course, this is what you'd expect from a quality rebuild. What I didn't expect was the efficiency of how quick it was done - with no discerning calls about 'difficulty finding parts,' etc. In short, it seems there really is nothing you can't throw at these guys. Much appreciation to them and their shop. Despite a focus on Subarus, VW owners should consider this location on their short list of trustworthy mechanics. Thanks Guys. read more
