Renner Racing Development is a great repair shop for any and all Subarus. They've been servicing my wife's 2017 Subaru Outback Limited (FB 25, non-turbo) for the past 5+ years. In my experiences with them, everyone is very knowledgeable and proficient with basic maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs. They've done simple jobs like oil and filter changes, brakes, spark plug replacements, throttle body cleaning and radiator flushes, but they've also swapped out the transmission cooler and replaced suspension components. Needless to say, they've done a lot for our car. More importantly, I have confidence in them to take care of the car that takes care of my wife. I brought my 2013 Subaru WRX to Renner Racing Development with a blown head gasket and an engine that was clearly on its way out. At that point, I was genuinely concerned the car might be done for. This was the first car I ever purchased, so walking away from it wasn't something I was willing to accept. Renner thoroughly evaluated the engine and ultimately performed a complete engine rebuild. LONG overdue, but I do love having Renner as the primary shop for my WRX. They're been honest, straightforward, trustworthy in all the times I've been here, and they definitely stand behind the work they do. Also they take the time to explain their recommendations, and have never been pushy with me in terms of getting parts or services performed. I've referred almost all of my Subaru driving friends here and they all have been positive as well. They did a fantastic job on my 2013 Crosstrek and brought it back to life. This place is honest on what needs to be done. Dealership told me things needed to be done that were not true. Other mechanics didn't fully understand the workings of a Subaru engine, such as you should never put water in the radiator to top it off and you should be using 30 on the engine oil, not 20, to get the most life out of your engine. I had taken it to the dealership for little things here and there and not once was I told the differential fluid should be changed out every 30K miles. Got a Subaru, go to Renner Racing for all your repairs. read more

Came here with a broken 2014 WRX and a hopeless heart. 6 wks later I left with a new RA block, rebuilt head, reinforced firewall, some IAG oil swag, and my heart filled with new dreams. Damyan and the rest of the team at Renner Racing Development are very helpful. I have been here a couple times before, and recently, my clutch went bad. Having a 2014 manual transmission Subaru Outback (somewhat rare), I didn't want to chance it with a non-Subaru specialist, and wasn't really considering a dealer. That they specialize in higher-end Subaru mods gives me assurance that they can handle my clutch replacement easily. I emailed them my quote request on Monday, but decided to just show up later that day; the clutch was on its last legs. Staff got Damyan on the phone and they went thru a rough cost estimate. Next day Damyan sent a very reasonable quote, followed with a phone call. They found a couple other drivetrain-related maintenance issues (various leaks...car has over 150k miles with no previous major repairs) and added scope was reasonable. It is Thursday and I'm about to pick up the car. 5 stars for speedy customer service. That they are open till 6pm and near public transit seals the deal, as they're centrally located in SoCal, near major freeways and accessible. read more

These guys saved my weekend. I incorrectly installed my brake lines. On the way to the track a wheel rubbed a hole in my brake line. No brakes! Fortunately I was able to safely come to a stop. I had the car towed to Renner Racing. No appointment and I had zero relationship with Renner. I have a '24 BRZ with aftermarket Bembos on it: not easy parts to find. Renner FOUND the parts and had the car ready to go before end of business. I picked up the car. Drove directly to the track and had a great time. I give Renner two thumbs up! read more

Water pump and timing belts replaced, along with helping fix my cooling leak. I had misfire issues and they even requested to have the fuel injectors cleaned . I am so stoked that I get to say this shop works on my vehicle. We've had Subarus in my family since 1985. Actually right now every member of my immediate family drives one. I had been told about Renner a few years ago from someone who I trust when it comes to anything Japan/JDM etc auto related. I've been through...a lot with this car. I'll keep it forever. Frankly, as nice as the people were at my dealer, and I'd been meaning to make this jump for a while...the work, the attention to detail, the care, the honesty etc, there's no comparison at all. I didn't feel confident in the car anymore, when I spoke to Damyan on the phone for the first time, I expressed that to him and he assured me they'd inspect and check everything. Now, a lot of people say that, but when someone who is part of a 30-plus year family history of Subaru wizardry says that, it hits a lot differently. And I can also confidently say it was worth the drive. Both times I've been down so far have been routine service/fixes, Damyan is so attentive and patient and listens...To every single person in the door. It's really cool to see he and his father run this awesome shop. All this shop handles is Subarus. They'll do anything from an oil change to a fully built carbon bodied 22b derived beast race car. The walls are covered with all kinds of racing awards and history etc, it's just a really top end very experienced crew here. It was all done while I waited too, which even though it's a bit of time, still less than dealer scheduling. It just feels really nice to trust a shop and the people running it. read more

Recently, I needed to replace the evaporator core and expansion valve for my A/C, and the dealership quoted me almost twice what JAC did. Since it was such an expensive repair, I decided to give JAC a try, and I'm so glad I did. The first thing that impressed me was the size of the shop. They have multiple service bays, not just in the main area but in another section as well. More importantly, the customer service was outstanding. Whenever I called with a question, Kevin didn't have someone else relay the information--he got on the phone himself and kept me updated every step of the way. When the replacement part they received turned out to be defective, they handled it quickly and made it right without any hassle. Another thing I really appreciated was the complimentary rides to and from my home while my car was being repaired. Maria and Mario were both incredibly kind. Maria mentioned she had recently joined JAC after working as a parts driver for another company, and she had nothing but positive things to say about the people there, which spoke volumes to me. Then, over the weekend, while driving to Orange County and finally enjoying my cold A/C, I started hearing a strange wind noise coming from my convertible top. I thought maybe a seal had come loose, but when I got home and looked under the car, I discovered my engine splash shield had torn loose and was scraping the road. I called JAS right away, and they immediately contacted the parts department, ordered the replacement, and took care of it quickly. I want to thank the entire team. From Kevin, Roger, and Dan to Maria and Mario, everyone I dealt with was professional, honest, and genuinely helpful. It's hard to find a repair shop you can trust, but I can honestly say I trust JAC. They may not give your vehicle a courtesy wash before you leave, but if you're saving $$ is it really worth it? They right away put it up on the lift and verified that it was safe to drive. However, the control arm, tie rods and bushings (leaking grease) were shot. Showed me the pictures and it was a mess. This level of repair was not cheap...but it was reasonable. No more complaints from my wife...at least about the car.

The alignment was slightly off at first, but they told me to bring it back and got it dialed in perfectly the following day. They stand behind their work and even told me to come back if anything needed to be re-torqued after the suspension settled. The results came out great. The stance looks much better with the factory rake reduced, and the ride quality still feels smooth and OEM-like. No noises, vibrations, or issues afterward. The vehicle drives straight and handles great. Professional service, quality work, and solid communication throughout the process. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a clean leveling spacer install done right.

I had taken it to…read moremultiple mechanics AND the dealer, and no one could tell me exactly what my issue was and just be straight with me. I had an emissions system issue that gave me the code 'P0139'. The first mechanic I took it to last year told me that it was a simple o2 sensor issue (rightfully so considering the code I was getting), yet when he replaced the sensor, the light continually came on. So he replaced it again, and replaced another o2 sensor on the vehicle (according to him). When none of that worked, he told me that my catalytic converter was faulty, and that I was going to have to pay roughly 8k for a new one. Safe to say I didn't believe him, nor did I stick around and simply take his word for it. I started making calls and, at first, genuinely believed that I was going to have to come up with the 8k by summer 2026 (when my smog inspection was due). I thought at one point I was sold a faulty vehicle too and even tried to receive compensation for the error. Turns out that wasn't the case, and even if it was, there wasn't much I could about it anymore. I took it to others who quoted me ridiculous prices for a simple diagnostic, I took it to others that just simply couldn't tell me what was wrong, and then to make things more confusing, the light would go on and off and would even go off long enough for me to pass smog!!! (Even though the first guy I went to said my catalytic converter was bad). Then, I looked online and found Master Tech. Great reviews, great location in the South Bay (Torrance), and fair pricing. Diagnostic was about 160, which would go toward repairs if needed, and if they couldn't find the issue I'd pay zero dollars! When I first got there, already Herbert pointed out things no mechanic pointed out before. I was told and under the impression that all my sensors were new and changed... they weren't. He also informed me that my vehicle was an American built one (not Japanese or Canadian, which I heard can make all the difference in quality). That's information that, although wasn't a huge concern, let me know that this guy paid attention to detail and really cared about what he was doing. He then told me to leave it with him later on in the week so he could give the vehicle TLC (tender love and care), and to be comfortable with not having my vehicle for a couple days (wasn't a problem at all). Eventually he gets back to me after a day and lets me know that the sensor had to be changed out with an oem one, as the previous mechanic put in an aftermarket one. On the day that I picked the car up and paid for the install, we both hopped in and took it for a ride, and the engine was running smooth like butter now. No more rich running (causing my gas to burn faster), and no more harsh shifting. He then hands me over the old sensor and informs me that I should go get my money back from the other mechanic. It turns out, the other guy was trying to screw me over (surprise, surprise!), whereas Herbert was honest and righteous. The piece the other mechanic put in was a Bosch sensor, made specifically for German made vehicles. Smh. It was for VOLKSWAGENS and the like ONLY. He was just trying to get me to pay him thousands, and perhaps allow me to further damage my engine and transmission from the issues he was forcing my vehicle to go thru for the time that it wasn't working properly due to a lazy, incompatible o2 sensor. I was relieved that I found Herbert who was able to help me and install the correct piece for a fair price (443 roughly, as opposed to the almost 700 dollars the dealer would've tried to charge me). I like his style, and he is definitely a righteous mechanic. Thank you bro!

I was originally looking at some subs for under the seat, but ended up getting a Kicker sub with Nick's advice, since he said under-the-seat subs aren't that great and, for the same price, a boxed sub with an amp will sound better. The installation took about an hour and a half, and you can either wait in-store or at a few nearby plazas to eat and wait. The install itself was clean and professional. Overall, loving the bass. I might be back soon if I upgrade the stock speakers in my ride to improve mid- and high-frequency clarity. On another note, I didn't know they also do tinting. Nick offered a good deal, but it's too bad I just recently had my tint done elsewhere. If I had known, I would have saved some money on my tint by doing it at Audio Motorsports.

Today, we got four wheels on my wife's car done, all with curb rash to a varying degree and the result was great. The challenge today wasn't the damage, it actually wasn't super complex or extensive. It was the color. From the factory, the color is pretty unique, but the Dr. Wheel team got it pretty much exactly. A special shout out to Jonathan, who came out to our house twice and did a great job. Friendly, professional, thorough, and just an all around solid dude. Not that I hope to get more curb rash on any of our wheels (nor do I wish that for you!), but if we do, we will definitely go back to them. We've already referred them to a few neighbors.
