One week after job completion I noticed a 26 Ft. long end cap structural separation that was caused by faulty workmanship in the load bearing portions of the base structure supporting the pavers (see photos). Renaissance Paving Inc, is a two person Glendora, home business is owned and operated by Austin J. Webber II who is licensed as a C-27 Landscaping Contractor, 07/24/2008 (Bonding History cancelled 05/23/19). There is no record of a Glendora Business License Tax Certificate on file. He can undercut any competitive bid as he has minimal overhead (no direct crew or storefront). Austin outsources his grading and masonry work to an independent crew of Hondurans with minimal contractor guidance. He pulls no permits on the job so compliance with the codes in effect is an issue. After a confirmed appointment Austin will show up in his Hawaiian shirt, Florsheim shoes and black Mercedes roadster, do some physical measurements on the job, show you some samples and give you a bottom line number. His contract invoice has no breakout for materials, sublet or labor just "Down Payment, Demo and Completion." Do read the fine print on the back of Austin's contract as it contains a "Neutral Arbitration" clause (you have no judicial rights to discovery or appeal in a court of law) if you are not happy with the job. read more

"Awesome work / end-product" I contacted various paving companies, and I ended up with Renaissance Paving. After meeting Austin and going over the price, materials, timeline, and expectations, I was convinced they were the ones I wanted to work with. Although they had lots of other jobs lined-up before mine, they finished earlier in another side, and asked if I was ready for them. It took them less than 4 days to complete my entire back-yard. The job was very clean and nicely done. Austin showed up multiple times to make sure they were meeting my expectations. My family and I are now enjoying our paved-patio thanks to Renaissance Paving! This is a very difficult review for me to write because I really like Austin and I believe he would do a good job based on other reviews. So I would have to say this review is based on his communication skills and lack of follow through. I called Renaissance Paving on January 25. I like to use local companies if they have good reviews. Austin was out the same day to look at our backyard which we would like to completely rip out and replace. We wanted an estimate and ideas as we were planning on pulling money out of our IRA but had no idea of cost. Austin said he had some great ideas and would come back out in a couple of days. Well a week goes by with no call so I called. He apologized and said he was very busy and wanted to come out again with his foreman which he did a couple of days later. Then two weeks go by. I get a call on a Friday that he would like to come out to measure which he did. Now a total of over six weeks after my first call still no calls, ideas or estimate. My wife and I lost confidence in Austin and believe he is either too busy or not interested in this job. read more

I recently changed my front yard from grass to pavers, I contacted 4 company to get free estimates and Austin's quote came up the most reasonable. After talking to him I felt he knows what he is talking about so I decided to go with his company. Deciding what colors of stone was the most time consuming task, Austin was so patient with me, he had the stone company brought me different samples at least four times. I felt so sorry because those stones were so heavy. I finally decided the colors and set a date to do it. Originally he said it would take four to five days to finish the job, but his team is so wonderful and efficient only took two days to finish the job. Thumbs up to his team, I really like the end results and can't wait to show my friends and family. I had no complaint at all since everything I asked for, he did it for me. This year my wife & I decided to finally spruce up our back yard by tearing down our old & rotting patio cover and replace our old concrete slab with beautiful new pavers. Austin Weber from Renaissance Paving came highly recommended by my daughter & son-in-law for pavers, so we called him right away. He came to our property to measure & gave us a quote fairly quickly. Immediately we were VERY impressed by Austin's punctuality as well as his extensive knowledge of his craft. He helped us with the design and to choose the right pavers for our property. We initially called Austin based upon the beautiful job he did for my daughter & son-in-law's property. However, we ultimately hired him because he stood out from the rest right from the start by being friendly, honest & straightforward with us. PLEASE READ: 3 weeks ago I was shopping around getting different quotes for a paving project at my house. Renaissance was one of those companies. During that time I asked Austin, the owner of Renaissance, a paver color question from a recent project his team had completed. He provided me the answer and all was well. Last night I received a call from Austin. It started off well, but once I told him I had already completed the paving job w/ a different company (Go Pavers), his demeanor completely changed. He became aggressive, accusing me of using him for information, extremely rude and unprofessional coming from the owner himself. I was in total shock, i thought it was a bad prank from maybe a competitor, but then I checked the number and it was really Austin. I'm still in disbelieve and am glad I didn't go w/ Renaissance for my paving project. I can only imagine how my project would have turned out. He'll probably say that this review is coming from a competitor, but if you look at my profile, you'll know that i'm as legit as they get. From reading all the positive and glowing Yelp reviews for this company, I would've that my experience would be the same. Sadly, no. Everything went well from the initial contact at the Home Show in Anaheim, scheduling the estimate appointment to being on time for the estimate. When discussing what we wanted, I mentioned I was trying to keep costs down and was met with "I don't do anything for less than $8,500". Prior to the appointment they had me go look at a recent job they had done in our city. It was done very nicely and the quality of work was apparent. It was a very small area next to a sidewalk, nowhere near $8,500. When I asked if they did more work in the back or sides, he knew I was referring to his statement of not doing anything less than $8,500. He just replied, "they were nice people". The gist of my review is that after he left, I've not heard anything from them. I never received an estimate. I guess they must being doing tons of business where they can just blow off a job that would have been well over his "minimum" price. read more

Our paving was installed 6 years ago by Renaissance Paving and has withstood normal wear and tear beautifully.....now it's time to have it cleaned and resealed, so the (masked) owner came today to give us a (fair) estimate and potential date for adding sand and sealant. Finally, a company that doesn't act like your typical contractor! I must have gone through over a dozen or so in the last year that I switched from or fired...there always seems to be an issue with either integrity, lack of follow up, greed, or constantly changing the quote after signing a contract, etc etc...the list goes on trust me. I had to take over my own project and screen each contractor for the jobs I needed done. I ran into this company who not only outbid the rest but the quality was outstanding. The owner personally oversees what's going on, technically astute, consistently keeps good communication, and has an ethic that no other contractor had. Heck, my own 2 year old would sit and lean over him on the couch on the many nights Austin came over to discuss details, financing, etc. my schedule doesn't allow me to be around during the day often so he always came to us when we were ready...even when the job was about done (which by the way took only 5 days to do front, side, and back of house - our lot is ~8000 sq. Ft). Some of these companies compete against each other but I gotta say that they just could not compete with someone like him the way he does business. GOD forbid you make my wife upset and the workmanship and service they provided passed the wifey inspections! She's tough to satisfy because we spend our hard earned money on something that we want to enjoy for many years to come and she knows what to look for so together we're hard to please (especially when you're tired of the sneaky nonsense most contractors try on you). This company has completed the Paver job with the utmost professionalism. The workers are some of the most motivated employees with quality in the workmanship that they performed anywhere. They took charge of coordinating the other contractors to ensure a timely completion of the job. My job was to remove all the concrete around my pool alongside my house and across the front of my house for widening the driveway. In addition to that I had a the pool replastered and drains put in by the plumbers and electrical wiring done all coordinated by Austin with the Renaissance Paving. Austin, the owner, personally met with us multiple times to discuss our ideas. The first time we met with him, he provided us with a comprehensive quote. He was extremely knowledgeable, personable and his quote was very reasonable. From the time of our initial consultation and start of the project, Austin was very responsive, returning all our calls and answering our multitude of questions. He let us know upfront what to expect once the project started and told us to contact him should we have any questions or concerns during the project. We actually never needed to call him because he was personally overseeing the project and would come multiple times during the day to ensure the project was going according to plan. They did a great job on our back patio. It isn't a big patio, but the pattern and color makes the area look much larger. The patio is difficult to access. No direct route from the street. They had to take the debris up a hill and around the side of our place. And bring in the pavers the same way. They never complained. Didn't charge us extra. And did the entire job in two days. Their prices are reasonable, but the primary reason I signed with them was due to the superior customer service from Austin (owner) and Nancy (office manager). Austin and Nancy are an excellent team. They came in 25% less than System Pavers and did just as good a job. What was most impressive was the timeline. If there had not been an unrelated problem with the pool plumbing (discovered after the old deck had been removed), they would have been done inside 6 days for a 1900 sf job. Austin was all over us making sure we were happy, going above and beyond to complete the job to our satisfaction. Austin pays his workers on time so there is never an issue of his guys walking off the job due to non-payment, something that has happened with other contractors. The pavers look amazing and gives the pool deck a very nice finished look, complementing the house and the surrounding colors. Austin, owner of Renaissance Paving, was always available when you needed to speak with him. If he didn't pick up the phone immediately, he called back within a very short time. Renaissance Paving prices were very competitive with many of the other paving companies. Austin's foreman, Roberto, and his crew did a great job on the installation process, although cleanup could have been better. Overall I'm happy with the paver project in my backyard, especially the attention to drainage installation. Great work and AWESOME Customer Service!!! We met Nancy with Renaissance Paving at their booth at a local event. We were looking to have a retaining wall and a paver walkway done in our backyard so we stopped by. She was very friendly and offered us a free estimate so we have her our info. She called us the first business day after the event. We scheduled an appointment to have them come out and look at the yard later that week. The owner, Austin, and Nancy showed up on time for the appointment, did their measurements and wrote up a quote on the spot. Their price was good and they were very professional. They told us they could have the job done in 2-3 days. I was impressed with their knowledge and professionalism as well as their reasonable quote. I was skeptical about their time estimate.... I was skeptical due to an awful experience we had with a larger, well known, more corporate paving company who I will leave nameless at this time. The OTHER GUYS quoted us an ok price and similar time frame for a paver and fake grass project for our front yard. For the first project we went with the OTHER GUYS because they claimed to have done Angels Stadium and other big projects in the OC area. I loved the work at the stadium and we needed the front project done so we unfortunately went with the OTHER GUYS on the front yard project. Well the OTHER GUYS systematic paving approach was all but an efficient system (if your catching my hints). They took over a month to complete the projects which they quoted 3-4 days, had to repair electrical issues that they caused, and on several occasions would not show up or would leave mid day for no apparent reason. They had several different sub contractors try to fix the problems caused by their previous subs and it was just problem after problem after problem. I will say the OTHER GUYS did eventually get it right, but it was only after A LOT of headaches, phone calls, and redos. So this is why we did not contract the OTHER GUYS to do out back yard. Back on track.... We signed with Renaissance and they told me they would be there at 0700 on the start date, a few days after we signed. I walked out at 0630 that morning and they guys were sitting quietly in their trucks in front of the house waiting. They got started and sure enough in 2 days it was done!!! To be honest there were a couple little hiccups along the way that did require them to come back, but the way they were handled by Austin and Nancy with no hesitation. Hiccup 1 - I am a little bit of a perfectionist, so when I told Austin I wasn't very happy with the stucco/paint job on the retaining wall his reply was a sincere, "Ok, what can I do to make it right?" I asked that they hit it with another coat of stucco and repaint it..... Without hesitation he told me it would be taken care of. A few calls later to make sure schedules lined up he had his guys on it and within a day the wall was all squared away. Hiccup 2 - Sprinklers. No thanks to our previous home owner, our sprinklers we done kinda sloppy to begin with. Unfortunately a few days after the Renaissance job was completed I noticed my sprinklers were not working properly. It looked like maybe the new work had blocked a line or something. I called Austin back and let him know. Again he very sincerely asked what he needed to do to make it right so we were 100% happy with their job. A few calls later he had his guys on it and they squared away the sprinklers. I share the hiccups to show how professional these guys are. Their work on the wall and paver walkway was AMAZING!!! But there are a lot of companies who can lay pavers and build walls. Where these guys won us over was their customer service. I have already, and will continue to, refer Renaissance Paving to my friends and family. We will also be using them again when we are ready to compete a few other projects. But this company is by far the most unprofessional ive dealt with. Late for appointments, never called back until you so happened to get a hold of the "secretary", finally came out for a site visit and never heard back. Your choices come down to the 5000 pound gorilla and Renaissance Paving. We talked to both, got bids from both, and chose Renaissance. To me, there was a HUGE advantage in being able to see, speak with, deal with (and if necessary complain to) the owner. I felt that the bigger company was a bit of a formulaic presentation and sales hustle, which I hate. I specifically said to the bigger company, "Give me the correct price now, do NOT come back in a week and say, 'Oh, we have a special on and I can do it for less this week.'" They came back in a week and said they could do it for less. I don't buy BS, and I didn't get any with Renaissance. Our choice was right, and our driveway gets accolades from everyone who sees it. I was impressed and amazed at the work done by Renaissance. They showed up exactly when they were scheduled to show up. The did exactly what they said they would do. They cleaned up after themselves, they did not make unnecessary noise, and they had a lot of pride in their work. The guys who do the actual laying of the pavers are artists. We asked for not only a particular pattern, but that it be laid at a 45 degree angle. They were unfazed. Done, done, and done. I had a special request that required some additional subsurface material to fill in an unused fountain. Done. What you get with Renaissance is professional performance, personal attention, high quality work at a competitive price AND with a can-do attitude. Last October we took out the old swimming pool in our backyard along with all the old concrete patio and walkways. Renaissance Paving then put in pavers to replace most of that. The job was done promptly and the pavers looked great. A couple of months ago, however, we noticed that in a certain area of the pavers we were getting some widening gaps between the stones. This was an area that had been installed over where the old pool had been filled in. It could have been caused by some slow settling of the extra deep soil layer that we had put on top of the compactable "dirty sand" backfill layer required by the city (soil doesn't compact well), but I'm not really sure of the exact cause. In any case, it didn't matter. We called, the owner came out, took a look at it and the entire 5-man original crew came back out, took up a large section of the pavers, recompacted the sand the pavers were set in and reinstalled them all. They even replaced a couple of paver stones outside the kitchen that we had stained by spilling oil on them. I was impressed. No hassles, no charge, and everything looks great again. We couldn't be happier and have gotten a lot of appreciative comments by our family, friends and neighbors on how good the pavers look. We had no problems with this company ever and did not experience the lack of responsiveness another reviewer discussed. I find it a little odd that the review was so negative since Renaissance Paving did not actually do the work on the reviewer's property. read more

I love the look of my new driveway with Orco, Mediterranean Cobble, Color - Borrego paving stones. My former one was cracked and needing to be replaced. I contacted Austin about 18 months ago but I was not quite ready to decide on the product or the color. Austin was never pushy and always helpful. He and his Office Manager, Nancy, followed up with me every few months to see if I was ready. When I said not quite yet, they asked when would be a good time to call back and they followed up with me at that time. I was set on one type of product and color and Austin brought me over more samples of a new color that Orco carried and he thought would be great with the brick on the house, the color of the house paint and the roof. It was the perfect color and just what I was waiting for so I went ahead with the project in December 2016. I also reshaped and enlarged the driveway, Austin was there to make suggestions. He supervised his crew to make sure things were progressing well and that I was satisfied. I could not have been more pleased with the results. I will have them back to replace my back patio soon. read more
