We had Renaissance Builders take care of our warranty issues with Velux skylights. Zack came out to assess the problem and then much later once replacements came in , Zach and his helper did a top notch job installing with care in final finishes like caulking and clean up. It took a while but was worth the wait. read more

They did a good job with installation 5years ago. I have been happy with by sun beam until recently one of them stopped working. I have been trying to contact them for the past 3 weeks with calls, voicemails and texts but just no response. Got hold of them once and they asked to message to setup an appointment but that is about it. As a business they should be responsible for both good and bad, but not seeing that. read more

Jerry Scoppetoulo, who owns Renaissance, has expertise and experience that you really want in your finished project? We had an addition of a large family room, a good size complete bathroom, a laundry room, a storage room and vinyl siding done with Renaisance Builders. My home looks amazing now!! We live in this addition!! He made suggestions that we never would've thought of that completely made the character of this room. The prices were very competitive, and the work was done on a timely basis. We could always reach him for questions And he would just stop in many times in a week to check on his work crew and the project. I wouldn't want anyone else to do work on my house now. read more

Renaissance is amazing! I was doing some renovations on my home realized that my skylights were insanely outdated. Old, cloudy, cracked, and beyond saving. I searched for local Velux installers and wanted to gather a few quotes to upgrade and replace all 4 of my skylights. It was a headache and a half trying to find a contractor who not only offered a good quote but was also reliable, and I knew I'd wanted my project to support a local small business. I connected with Renaissance and spoke to their front office to schedule a visit. I was impressed with both the office as well as the gentleman that came out for the bid. Very knowledgeable, honest, respectful and responsive. The pricing they offered was great and they were able to work with my hectic schedule. They were considerate and professional while working in my home and communicated every step of the way. These guys are the real deal. The work was well done and I'm so happy with the results. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. read more

Company has recently offered a partial refund after prolonged delays. Still awaiting resolution.

I have VELUX skylights. After a service call I was referred to this company in January. Never heard from them. I called several times and generally never an answer with the exception of one time: a female answered in a rushed voice and said she was away from her desk and she would call me right back. Never heard from here again. I had to call back to VELUX to get another vendor to help me. Now over two months later, I get an email response from Renaissance. What sort of business is this? Perhaps a 1-2 person show? I have no clue but I'd take my business elsewhere if I were you. Imagine when you really need any warranty service - you're not gonna get it from this place. read more

I had an issue with a Velux solar-powered skylight and contacted the company's support, but couldn't solve the issue by phone, so Velux offered a visit from their technical service. The technicians from Renaissance Builders who visited identified the issue right away: the cell that powers the motor to open the window was damaged, so they made a quick substitution, tested the window, and it worked flawlessly right away. Kudos to Velux, who covered the service's cost with the guarantee, and to Renaissance Builders for their professionalism. I'd definitely recommend their service to install and/or repair all kinds of skylights and sun tunnels. Thank you! read more

I contacted 8 local skylight contractors. Only 2 of them verified that my old skylight was actually a 30+ yrs old European roof window: one old gent and Zach. Both are Velux certified, but only Zach's team followed through with a big plus: their price quotes are the most honest and reasonable. I'd learnt this after multiple interviews with contractors. The process for roof window isn't straight forward as skylight because it is shipped from oversea. Still well worth it: the roof window has a ventilation flop that does amazingly well keeping indoor air fresh and cool even during the scorching summer days. Zach and Waleed are courteous and professional. Their works are immaculate. The response is slow sometime, but be patient. They do respond and follow up. A+++ to the team and for the job well done! read more

I had them install skylights in my two bathroom which substantially elevated the brightness and airflow. The process is smooth and Zach was professional and reliable in terms of where to install and what skylight to choose. We had a little problem with the solar-powered shade few months after installation, Emma was fast to respond and helped us replace it. The tax credit claim was also easy. read more

I have had GREAT experiences with Zack from Renaissance Builders. We have several Velux skylights and have had to call for service from time to time on one or the other. The service we have received each time from Zack and Renaissance Builders has been professional, timely, and fairly priced. Look no further for your Velux Service and Repair company! read more

We worked with Zach to replace four leaking skylights that were 30+ years old. He was responsive throughout the process and did excellent work. We highly recommend Renaissance Builders for skylight replacement! read more

Highly recommend Renaissance Builders. They installed a beautiful Velux skylight in our living room, they were very friendly and knowledgeable, kept everything very clean and safe, completed the project quickly and on a very reasonable budget. We had a hard time deciding which skylight size we wanted, and Zach came out multiple times to discuss with us our options and steered us to the right place - we're very happy. read more

I've contacted Renaissance builders to install a skylight and sun tunnel. They gave me the beat quote among all the skylight installers I've contacted. Zach has inspected my house and gave me good suggestions on where a sun light or sun tunnel would add best value to the house. He bas been very professional in his job and completed the installation in 3 days. Excellent service. read more

I wanted a small skylight installed in what was advertised as a bonus room when we bought this house. Every quote I was given by other installers was significantly more or they only did repairs. Once I agreed to have it installed by Renaissance Builders it couldn't have been easier. Emma kept me informed and always answered my questions. Zach was awesome to work with during the hottest week on record in September. Poor guy but was a trooper. I highly recommend this company. We couldn't be happier with the fresh air and natural light coming in to what used to be a dark windowless room. read more

We were extremely pleased with Renaissance Bldrs. Zach and the sheetrock person did excellent work and made every effort to contain the mess during the job. Emma, his office person, was always prompt & pleasant in her responses to any issues or questions I had. We would highly recommend this company. Veronica read more

I was so pleased that Zack did our skylights. He is professional, skilled, dedicated, pleasant to work with. We have a light-weight clay tile roof which could be easily broken if walking on it. Zack took out two rows of tiles to open a run way to the roof top. It's a lot of extra work to put them back afterward. While removing the tiles, he saw an existing crack in the underlayment and he offered to patch them. I can't thank him more. I was impressed with his commitment to serve beyond his call of duty. Emma in the office was also pleasant to work with. Overall highly recommend Renaissance builders. read more

I connected with Tom and Zach through Velux after having some minor problems with newly installed solar skylights, so this was for post-installation Velux tech support through the warranty. Zach was on time, knowledgeable, friendly and excellent at explaining what was happening and why. I also appreciated his assessment of the work done to install the skylights since his company also does that type of work. At the end of the day, the problems were solved quickly and efficiently, and Zach was a pleasure to do business with. As a woman, I very much appreciate both being comfortable with the service person coming into my house (always a man in my case) and when the person doing the job takes the time to explain to me both the problem and the solution. A+ on both counts! Thank you, Zach! read more

We had about given up on trying to DIY or find a local installer to put in blackout shades on our 5 older Velux operable skylights. Spoke with many of Velux's own contractors near us and nobody wanted the job, saying they were a real pain to install. And we were having so many heat waves here we had stuffed cardboard in the wells to get some relief. So after a few conversations with Velux support they connected us with Zach from Renaissance Builders. He is professional, knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. He knows what he is doing when it comes to a difficult specialty skylight shade install. We are grateful they did such a good job and our house is significantly cooler now. Highly recommend! read more

Zach is one of the best professionals I've ever worked with! We found Renaissance builders by coincidence after a few different contractors told us that our multiple roofs were too complicated and they couldn't open a skylight in our kitchen. Zach came in and I could immediately tell that he was a pro. He opened up 4 skylights on our roof for a very reasonable cost and had done a great job! Also, Zach was always the first in our house and the last to leave and completed the job in a week. On top of all of that, he's super-responsive, always replies in a matter of minutes, and gives very clear and complete explanations. He also helped us get the permit and opened the skylight in a way that would allow inspectors to come and review the skylights easily. I would highly recommend Renaissance Builders to anyone looking for a super-professional skylight job at a really good price. I will definitely get them to do any future work in my house. 5 stars easily... (I would give them more if I could) read more

They showed up to "fix" two factory installed skylight shades on a project of mine in March, roughly 4 months after I made my initial complaint to Velux. All Renaissance builders did was show up to verify the information I'd conveyed to Velux (as a general contractor with video, pictures, and paperwork.) it's been 6 months, I have received no communication from them since, The "repair" guys vm is full and won't text me back. To make it even more fun, Velux has no record of my service request, even though I have documentation from my end. My clients are not happy. read more

We came to know of Renaissance Builders when two of our old Velux skylights had some technical issues. Velux referred us to Renaissance and Zach came and fixed the issues perfectly. When we wanted to add a new skylight, we reached out again, and Emma, the friendly and very helpful office manager, sent us a reasonable bid. We were very happy with our second experience with this company as well: they did the work in just 4 days, and we were very impressed with Zach's knowledge and work ethic, and how he went out of his way to make sure we got exactly the insulation we wanted around the skylight. We highly recommend Renaissance Builders! read more

They don't return my calls. They failed to fix leaky skylights and said they would try fixing them again, but I never heard from them again. That was several months ago. They leaking has returned after this past rain. I'm out $800 and I have to find another contractor. read more

First I want to make it clear that this review is not about the actual work... because we never got it. We called 2 weeks ago about getting 2 skylights and 3 sun tunnels installed. They came in to check out our place and before they left, we were told we would receive a quote in 2 days. Now two WEEKS later, we still haven't heard back. We called a few times and were told multiple times that we could expect the quote in 2 days. We never did. They did say that they were swamped. But they could've just told us they were too busy to perform the service for us; they didn't. If they can't deliver their promise for the simplest part of the job, I can't imagine they would show up on time and deliver the project on time. Very disappointed. read more

Tom and Zack are an awesome team. They installed installed a skylight in my master bath in a really challenging location, Not only was the space tight, but there were pipes, wires, and ventilation ducts to contend with. In the end a really impressive job! As a bonus, I asked Tom if he could wire the chandelier above the bath tub on a separate switch with a dimmer (I need mood lighting, don't ask). They knocked this out after the skylight install was complete. Apparently they have lots of general contracting skills. Their prices are also very fair I should add. I highly recommend Renaissance Builders. read more

Hello, I give Tom 5 stars for a very small job done in a big way. The dome to my 10-14 year old sun tunnel had blown off and smashed. I had looked on the web, but could not find a replacement. I found Renaissance Builders on Yelp - called him and sent him a picture via text. He ordered a replacement and installed it for $73 total bill - $40 parts, $30 install and tax. What amazed me is - this is a tiny job - too small to bother with really, but he did it without any reminders from me, any money up front, never having met me, and installed it while I was on vacation. Thank you Tom for a small job well done. You have my business going forward. Kathleen read more

Amazing job. The 5 skylights we had installed look spectacular. Dealing with Tom and Zack was great. From initial consultation to final trim work, everything was done on time and we couldn't be more please with the results. My neighbor referred us to Tom and warned us that Tom is hard to get and I am able to get the quote , order the windows and installed them fast. Tom had provided a details information of the skylights and options and we are very pleased with the work. For eichler homeowners, upgrade of skylight with existing foam roof is way to go to replace the ugly old ones! Thanks! read more

This is the second time I hired Tom. I had hired him a few years ago, I was impressed with the quality of his work. It was beyond my expectations. If you are looking for someone for skylights, he is the one. read more

Our 25 year old Velux skylights have been leaking, and we were frantically trying to find someone to come out to fix our skylights before rainy season starts again. My husband spent six months trying to get someone to come over to give us an estimate. Contractors either flaked or never called back. There's a rumor that all the general contractors were busy this summer were working on the Apple Spaceship. We got really lucky with Tom and Renaissance Builders. He came out gave us a bid, dropped off our contract in person, and even helped us cover up our leaking skylights with tarp. They replaced 4 skylights and installed 2 solar tubes. They're incredibly hard working, but a little hard to schedule. I think they're booked until the end of the year. I kept thanking him for coming out and helping fix our skylights, and his response was "If I didn't come out, you'd keep calling me." Unfortunately, it's the squeaky wheel that gets fixed. :) Hire these guys, if you're lucky enough to get an appointment. You won't be disappointed. read more

AWFUL SERVICE Supposedly the top installer for Velux ? Here's the real story. I called at least half a dozen times based on the Velux website referral. I left a detailed message each time. No call back. Finally Tom answered the phone and I made an appointment for him to come out to my home for a quote. He never showed up. Didn't call. Didn't answer the phone when I called to see what had happened. And never responded to the messages I left after that. read more

Our situation is a bit unique in that we had our contractor (non Velux certified) basically back out mid way of installing our Velux Curb Mounted Solar Powered sky light. Tom was willing to finish the job for a very fair price and Zach was very respectful and thorough (cleaned the glass afterwards and even another sky light near by since he was up there). These guys are Velux 5 star rated and great at what they do. Look no further (you'll thank me for saving you from the several calls and visits for an estimate like I went thru!) read more

Tom recently installed Velux solar-powered skylights with solar powered shades for us -- our existing plastic bubble skylights were making our home way too hot. Tom was responsive and professional, and the skylights are great. Our house is definitely cooler now too! read more

We had two skylights replaced. Tom did a professional job installing the skylights and cleanup. Thanks Tom!

I don't understand what the issue is with this place. I called for Velux service a couple of weeks ago. Tom called me back and we agreed on a date when I could arrange to be home from work for him to come out and take a look. He asked me to text him my address and confirm the date. I did. He also said that someone would call me a couple days before to confirm. No one did, so I texted him again to confirm. Today, I called him and asked him what time he would be by. It was obvious he didn't have our job in his plans - he said he was in San Mateo so couldn't come by until end of day. Asked me for my address again. I gave it to him. I was worried that he wouldn't show so was pretty cool on the phone despite being super irritated. HE STILL DIDN'T SHOW. Nothing - until my husband called him an hour after he said he'd come by. He texted me back to say he'd been in a car accident. Never heard from him again. Don't waste your time, especially if you need to schedule time away from the office. read more

We found Tom's number on Velux website as one of their top installers. And we haven't been dissappointed. Tom came over to give us a quote, he was very knowledgeable about all the work. We needed a skylight in our son's bedroom. He went to check the roof and attic space. He said the work will be done in 3 days and it was done in 3 days. Tom made sure our house was left clean after he left. We are very pleased with the work he has done and we will definitely call him again if we need work done in the house. read more

Was very excited because they have great yelp reviews. My husband took the morning off of work to meet with them at 8am. I left for work at 745am and there was a brocure from them on the door and no one was there at the scheduled appointment time. Got a message later the same day (after we called them) that they had showed up but no one answered the door. They didn't even phone us that morning to tell us they were there early and could we start the appointment. Very aggravating. Not a great way to do business or to make an impression. read more
