I purchased 2 cars from Scott. I first went down (I live 2.5 hours away) drove the first one he said there were parts he could hear that needed replacing before I got the car. We test drove it together me in the front he in the back seat. This was in may of '24 mind you it was listed on marketplace for $2500. When I was there I saw another one I wanted 1 for me 1 for my daughter. I put $ down on both. Communication was awful to say the least. I went down another time thinking I was picking it up atleast the first one but nope. Waited months the end of November comes around he in this time says he need to replace all this stuff. Okay I was given a price. When I got there he was not there. Waited and waited. Went to do the deal on the first car he literally had the price on marketplace then he added for this and added for that (tires, wheel bearings etc) by the time I was done with this it cost me over $6000. The other car I got charged for everything under the sun tires etc that was supposed to be $5500 but after all his math it was over $9000. Also let me add in here there was another customer in there with his daughter, Scott was nasty to them like idk why I even stayed and finished tbh. Kicking them out yelling and screaming at him and his daughter because he was f****** with him and what he was told as well. He sent me off to dmv I got there in the nick of time but he didn't give me what I needed. They closed were trying to kick me out he finally got there and had the correct paperwork. Phew that was luck. My daughters and I leave with the vehicles as we bought 2 and needed 1 to get there. We left my daughters horn didn't work the car was making awful sounds the wheel was wobbling really bad while driving. Mind you his "guy"inspected it for him with a shady place as how does a car pass inspection with no horn at all? My car was fine a few things here and there but can't complain. My daughters has been nothing but headaches. No horn, it needed struts (2) wheel bearings, control arm bushings, I replaced them all except the horn as that needed to go to Subaru to be fixed. I kept in communication with Scott a lot of times he never answered me or he called because he didn't want it in writing in our conversation. My registration was sent to him. I was waiting and waiting and nothing for 2 months I contacted Scott low and behold he had it just never sent it. I finally received it. Zia his wife is wonderful! She is on top of her stuff unlike Scott! He talks to her how he talks to some of his customers like the one that was there when I was there! He could really use some communication skills and his bull shit needs to be toned down. How does a car go from $2500 to $5500 when it's posted for sale for $2500 and I still needed to put $1500-$2000 into it myself? WARNING he has some good cars they are never the price he says. Make sure you bring like $5000 extra as you know he is loosing $ he says and he needs to compensate. And he adds EVERYTHING extra on your bill while you sit there. He is very shady a smooth talker, communication sucks, you get vehicles that should never pass inspection and it takes FOREVER to get the vehicle. Also he gives you a bill Of sale for thousands less that what you actually pay! I bought a 2016 Subaru Outback Limited from Scott with 61000 miles. Some of the cars Scott sells have salvage/rebuild titles. Scott was upfront about this at the beginning and that it takes awhile to repair the car if needed and to receive the new title. The car I purchased had water damage that only reached the carpets. It did not need any repairs. It took about 2 months from first inquiring about the car to getting the title and taking ownership. The same car with similar mileage is selling for $6000 to $8000 more. I've had the car about a month now and it runs and drives perfectly. If you're not in a rush I would recommend purchasing a car from Scott. You'll get a reliable car for a great price. read more

Didn't even make it to this business. Saw an ad for a 2013 Subaru Impreza on Facebook marketplace under a throwaway Facebook account with a fake name. Was told to call or text the business' phone number. When I called I didn't even get the model of the vehicle I was interested in out of my mouth before the owner was so condescending - his first question to me was "is your dad or husband going to look at the car with you? It's probably easier if I speak to your dad or husband directly". When I asked "why's that" he became frustrated and said "well fine then what do you want to know". I rattled off a few questions he halfway answered, and I hung up. I'm a 30 year old woman who doesn't answer to anyone. We bought a 2015 Subaru Forrester from Scott. The first thing Scott said to us was very accurate: "Buying a car from me (Scott) is not for everyone." However, you can definitely get a good deal and good value car buying from Scott. But you need to be patient and not be in a rush. Scott buys his cars at a very low price and then fixes them up, so you can get a very good deal. Some are ready to sell as is, but many need some repairs that he will do. In our case we bought a 2015 Subaru Forester. Only 92,000 miles, but had some front end damage when it was first posted and we first saw it. Scott and his mechanic fixed it up well - not perfect, but very good - but it took a long time. Mechanically it is very sound. The bodywork is good but not perfect, a few minor things. But, it took MUCH longer than we expected for the car to be repaired and cleared to pass through New York state DMV. Scott did keep in touch during that time and process (although we did miss several deadlines that were promised). But, after a long process, at the end of the day, we did get a really nice car at a really good value. I would recommend buying a car from Scott for anyone who is looking for a good value car but is not in a hurry or rush to get it - you have to be patient. Also, I will say that Scott's wife Zia is great, she does the office/paperwork side of things, and she is very helpful, patient and organized. First i show up at the time he asked me to show up so I could check out a vehicle for my wife, just for him to be a condescending pr*ck to my face by constantly talking over me and tell me that I need to calm down and be patient, and to wait until he gets back because he doesn't like being in the heat. I was pretty calm, respectful and being patient with him. I didn't even say two words for him that would give him a reason to say that to me. I just was curious if a certain car was available because there was a "sold" sign hanging on the rearview mirror. He immediately left within 2 minutes at the time he told me to meet him to take another customer for a test drive and he told me I had to wait for 20 mins... He told the customer that he had to drive the car first to make sure it was running good, which made zero freaking sense to me and was a massive red flag. At no point did he introduce himself or even remember the conversation we had 45 mins prior. He also wasn't even wearing a shirt which made my wife and daughter super uncomfortable...yea real professional bro lol. I didn't wait, as soon as Scott drove out of the parking lot, I left immediately and took my family out for ice cream instead. Now i have worked in law enforcement for a while and I've been disrespected and treated poorly a lot of times by a lot of people, but this guy has hit new lows and was a real A-Hole. I don't typically like to do negative reviews but feel like I need to make an exception in this case. GDT Automotive & Reliable Hondas are the SAME company with the same owner, Scott Gellar. Please save yourself from the frustration of dealing with this con artist. Go and read the reviews for both companies. He gives used car dealers a bad name. This was my encounter with him ... We saw what looked like a near perfect car for my daughter online so we drove to the listing location to test drive it. Upon arrival the owner, Scott Gellar, was sitting under a tree shirtless in the back yard of his business. When we told him the car that we were there to see he tried to deter us and kept pushing any of the other salvaged cars on us (Every car he had on the lot had subpar repairs and were partially put back together from the accidents they were in). Looking back now I know that the car we went to go see was his bait car. When we told him we weren't interested in any of the other cars he stated that he has been in business for 20+ years and if we were serious about buying a car if we put down a deposit he would vigirously look for a car that meets our needs at the multiple auctions he attends weekly. We agreed and signed a contract stating this transaction occured. Two weeks go buy and we didn't hear anything from him. He wasn't answering his cell phone so I tried to call the business line which was disconnected. We drove back to the location where he was again sitting under the tree shirtless. He was visibly annoyed that he had to get up to help us. When we asked for an update he tried to fast talk and started deflecting that he was very busy and we should have called and made an appointment. When I stated that I tried to call his cell and he didn't answer and his business phone isn't connected he then asked "what do you want from me" I said my deposit back. He then says he will be back and go help other people hoping we would go away I assume. We watched him try to run the same scam on the other customers. When the other customers left he had to deal with us again he tried to get aggressive but in the end he reluctantly agreed to give us back our deposit. He stated that we will have to wait till Tuesday (we were there on a Friday afternoon) so that he has money in his account. 20+ years of business and he had no money in his account! While we are waiting for him to write us a check his employee approached him asking to get paid. He pulls out a couple dollars from his pocket and was like it's all I have. I will get you some more tomorrow. The employee was visibly mad and they began arguing in front of us. When he finally gave us the check he kept saying we had to deposit the check because his bank would not cash it without him calling them first. We decided to call the bank to verify that there were funds in his account before we attempted to deposit the check. I bought a car from Scott in 2016 that ended up being a really good car so I thought now when I'm in need of a new car again I could trust him. I went and spoke with him in person and gave him a deposit to look for a car for me. I told him I needed a new car within three weeks, and he promised me if he was unable to find me the right car he would refund my deposit. It's been over a month, I reached out numerous times before asking for my deposit back and he's never mentioned finding anything for me or even searching for anything...just "I'll give you a call later" and no call. And now he's completely ignoring me in regards to giving me my deposit back. Super uncomfortable experience!! I drove an hour with my friend yesterday to go look at a specific car. Once there, another couple arrived at the same time. The doors were locked so we had to call. He tried persuading us to give him money up front so he could go find us what we wanted. They ended up leaving and he turns to us and starts ranting again and called them brainless. They were nice enough to wait in the car to make sure we were okay before leaving. He starts going on again and when my friend asked what damage was done to the car we came to look at for it to have a salvage title, he quickly brushed it off. Not to mention the salvage title wasn't disclosed on the site he promoted it on but was found when I searched the vin. I told him that if she bought a car with a salvage title, she was going to have a hard time trying to resell later on. He said that was my opinion and he's never had an issue. This the bottom line: If you want a cushy purchasing experience from a guy in a suit who offers you a cup of coffee, then GDT is not for you. He is going to try to squeeze every nickel from you, but you just have to let him talk. Dealing with Scott was well worth the money and the amount of time it took to finish the deal. With all this being said, Scott talked me into a warranty plan for 6 months or 6K Miles. I am a mega commuter, so I bought the Civic for gas mileage and comfort (I love bells and whistles). After a week there was an issue with the car. (bad cellenoid) I emailed Scott and he immediately called me and told me to bring him the vehicle. He had the car repaired and back in my hands after a few days. He stood by his promise. The weird thing is I actually grew to like the guy. If you are searching for a first car for your kid, or just a great deal on a used car, then I still would recommend GDT Auto. I will go back to Scott when looking for another car. He said I was approved for $6500.00 which is more than what the car was selling for , yet still wanted my $3000 , after everything on the contract basically what I would have been paying on top of the $3000 was a loan payback of 8300 , WHAT !!! That makes no sense. So basically this guy is telling me that he has a lot of people interested in this car and that he hasn't decided who he was going too sell the car too. I'm like I'm putting down half of what you're selling this car for. Come to find out it has a salvage title which is something that he told us AFTER HE HAD MY MONEY IN HIS POCKET. he then became like impossible to reach. I drove out over 2 hours two times , totaling like 8 hours of driving of my time to be screwed around for 3+ weeks , still never got into a car. Decided this wasn't for me. And let me tell you , it was a shit show too get my money back after he had been avoiding me for DAYS. I literally made a fake text app and pretended too be another person too get him too meet me a THIRD TIME so that I could get my money back , which he refused too give me back all of my deposit. Said for all the hard work he did he was keeping something for himself. He didn't actually get me approved , nothing was even ran on my credit for getting approved for any kind of loan. The guy I dealt with could not provide a title when I asked for it and there was no inspection sticker on the window. But he had the gall to try to close the deal the first day I saw it and wanted half of the money for the list price. Met with the owner, Scott Geller, this past week in regards to a car I saw advertised online, and he made a great first impression. First, he was willing to meet with me after they were already closed (due to my work schedule) which was very nice of him. He showed me the car fax reports, answered all the questions I had and even let me test drive the car around the area. Everything looked great! Decided to put a deposit down for him to hold the car for me till this coming weekend so I can look at it again with my parents. So far I've had a great experience and I'm hoping for it to continue. Everything has gone well and he has been very reasonable with times to meet me with my tight schedule. I just read some of these reviews and couldn't agree more with all the negative reviews especially with Micki B. Scott is a fast talker. This is the way he lurers you in from the start. I bought a car from him for my son. We negotiated a price. There were other things that needed to be fixed and he agreed that they would be fixed. After buying the car and actually paying more money than we agreed on, he never fixed the things that he promised. There was just one excuse after another. Numerous emails and phone calls were never returned. Everything that Micki talked about is Scott to a tee. He seems like a person that just finished drinking 10 cups of coffee. Super hyper. I couldn't agree more about the way he treats and talks to the woman he works with I actually think he may be married to her. I bought this car from him almost a year ago and just recently had to take the car in for brakes. The cost for the brakes was $2300. It needed brake pads, drums, and new calipers and new brake lines. There is no way a car that we had for only one year would need that much intensive brake work. The brakes were so rusted. I don't know how it could have passed inspection the first time. I believe the car was involved in a flood. Please do not do business with this man. What may originally be a good deal will cost you more down the road. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY CAR FROM SCOTT GELLAR GDT AUTOMOTIVE OR RELIABLEHAONDAS.COM. its the same guy. the sign out side states Luxury "MJ" Cars. THIS GUY IS A SCAM AND YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY. Scott is crooked as they come and all his cars are salvage cars but he wont tell you that, until he gets your money, also he will tell you the cars are all in working order and will fix anything that may be found whether it is before or after you purchase, this could not be further from the truth of what will actually happen. Scott states he can finance but that is not true he does not finance. he claims all his cars are certified but that is also a lie. He doesn't even have a lift to check his cars or anything, I think he just buys them, washes them and puts them on the lot for sale and wants the buyers to find the issues. The man will waste your time talking to you about personal items and talks in circles. His wife is also dishonest as she will make you believe she is an employee and tell you how good and honest Scott is and will fix anything that is found wrong with the car. Scott runs a car lot in Wappingers (if you can call it that) called GDT automobiles and also you can find him online as reliablehonda.com. do not go there. Bought a Subaru from him in Dec 14 2018 and tried to return it on Dec 15 2018, On the day I took it home the car had a serious drive Tran problem that will only manifest when the car has been driving for 20 mins. No thanks to Scott I researched the torque bind (wheels locking up in a turn) as a failed viscous coupling, after many attempts to reach him and him avoiding my calls he has not made good on his promise to fix it. When I did reach him he treated me terribly on the phone by yelling and also asking me to give him money to fix the car. the repair will run around 1,300 dollars for which he is not willing to put in any money. We went to Scott looking for a reliable car for my son for college. He let us know upfront that the they buy salvage cars and fix them up. He took the time to explain the process. Knowing that my 2015 mini van had just been hit 2 months before and needed a new front panel and driver's side door, but was otherwise in great shape, this did not intimidate me. As long as I was told, which I was, that was fine. We found a nice 2007 Mazda 3. Scott met with us twice to look at the car and talk things over. He knew safety was a huge concern for me. We bought the car, the inspection was good, unfortunately, there were a few recommendations made from the inspection that the owner did not see. During the purchase, we expressed we wanted to purchase a few extra things for the car and the owner personally called the dealership he works with and got the parts and labor for us at his cost. When we went to the dealership, these inspection recommendations were presented to me when the Mazda dealer did their 5 point inspection. Two were safety issues. We called the owner immediately to discuss our concerns and he worked diligently on those issues and then some, to make things right. There were s few general maintenance things that came up which are expected with higher mileage cars and though they were not requiring immediate attention, Scott worked with us to get them fixed at a very reasonable price so we had that piece of mind. So, all-in-all, he was very willing to work with us to make sure we were satisfied. The two things that I think would improve sales for them, is that one, everything is by appointment only through email only. Being able to contact someone on the phone or in person, helps people to address their questions in a a more timely fashion and ask additional questions as needed. Two, this is a cash only establishment and not everyone has that kind of cash flow at all times which can makes things difficult. I see some negative feedback re: Scott the owner of reliablehonda.com and wanted to share my opinions and experience of recently shopping for a vehicle. - the prices are very reasonable. Definitely when you compare with ANY other used car dealership in the area. - Scott might come across "rough" as other have commented - until you get to know/understand his perspective. From what I see, he runs an extremely lean operation, between him and the two other sales help, they are doing what would be the work of 10. If you keep that in mind, AND your priority is to get a good vehicle for a GREAT price, then the inter-personal aspect becomes very understandable and it is much easier to overlook shortcomings. - Terms to accept hearing: "Please make an appointment to come see me"; "Shoot me an email"; "I wasnt expecting you"; "I have 5 other people waiting...". He uses these with everyone. Not just you. - He is honest. If there is an issue with the title, he will ask you to be patient. And patience can mean weeks. If the transaction falls through, your deposit is good. Will offer a full refund or use towards another car. Some of the great deals are on cars with complicated histories. He doesnt hide the history. If there was body work done in his shop, he has pictures to show the initial damage. To summarize, car profit margins are low, staffing is lean, YOUR purchase price is LOW as a result. Bottom line. read more

What a joke, found this dealer/insane person on Craigslist, I was in need of a commuter car for work, so my fiancé and I headed over to this makeshift barn/farm/dealership with 7 thousand cash in my pocket. This guy scott shows up and is wearing a shirt that looks like it was ripped up by a bear, and talking a mile a minute, I test drove a Honda Civic, seemed like a decent car, he did mention it was in an accident. He would not give me his full attention and was all over the place, he then asked how serious I was about purchasing a car, I proceeded to pull out 7 grand in hundred dollar bills and his eyes lit up and the talking got faster and faster, he took us into his makeshift office which had crap scattered everywhere. He told me he was waiting on a title, he told me to give him the 7 grand and take one of the other crapbox cars he had and when he received the title for the civic to comeback and swap, and all he kept saying was "give me the 7 grand and will make a deal!" I proceeded to tell him absolutely not, and began to get frustrated with his antics. I told him he was a joke and we got in our car and left. Stay away from this place. My husband and I bought a car from Scott years ago. My daughter just purchased her first car and my son bought a car from him last year. We have known Scott for many years. He may seem a little all over the place at times, but he really is a good guy. He was very good to us and gave us good deals, my kids would not have been able to get a 2010 & 2013 Honda Civic for a better price. The process did take a little long from start to finish when both my kids bought their cars but in the end they are both VERY happy with their new Honda Civic. read more
