I can't even begin to explain how great the customer service is at Performance Motor Cars. I recently purchased a 2016 Jeep Renegade from a dealer on Long Island and I had traded in my 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe in June 2018. Shortly after purchasing the Renegade, I was having severe buyer's remorse and missing my Santa Fe. I tried returning the Renegade to the dealer and was inquiring where my Santa Fe went, but they were no help because they suck. I even went down to the dealer where I purchased my Santa Fe, but they couldn't help me either. I googled the VIN of my Santa Fe for several weeks and finally got a hit on August 17: the Santa Fe sold at auction and was at Performance Motor Cars in Wappingers Falls, 100 miles from my house! I immediately called up and asked if the Santa Fe was available. I reached Caleb Rose and he was nothing short of a gentleman and told me the Santa Fe was available and I told him my story and he was impressed. I told him I wanted to buy the car back. We set everything up and I purchased the car back today, August 25! Despite my unique situation, there are several cars on the lot to choose from and all different types of cars and different makes. It is definitely worth a look for anyone looking for a gently used car and I was very impressed. To say I am over the moon to have my car back is an understatement. The whole staff at Performance Motor Cars knew my story and loved it. The dealership was very professional and so helpful throughout the entire transaction. Just thought i would write a follow up on the absolute worst dealership in the world. After my van was leaking from the roof and all my stuff inside was getting drenched. Currently in the middle of a legal battle with the owner Jacob Lavian. He agreed to sell my Mercedes on Ebay on March 22. It's now June 7 and he hasn't lifted s finger to list it or do any of the prep work he promised. Yesterday he offered me a very insulting lowball offer. When I declined, he became irate, threatening and is now holding the vehicle ransom for $1000 of storage fees despite the fact we have a clear written contract which does not allow for such fees. First of All the service department before this new manager was always the best part of performance. Since his arrival, I have had multiple problems and issues with the service of my vehicle! I went in one day to get my 2012 Kia Forte Koup an oil change and get sway bar links installed! Dropped off car in the morning and came back around lunch (9am-12pm). When I arrived I was told that they never did the sway bar links because they thought I was bringing the parts, and did not finish the oil change either. So I said ok, no worries just get the oil change done and left, when I came back the service manager said he miraculously ordered and installed the links plus did the oil change in 2 hours but never said anything to me. Since I got free oil changes and after he handed me my keys , I left not thinking anything of it. iI get a call a few day later about the payment, so before I went in I got a second opinion and found out the links were never put on at all! I went to the owner, explained the situation, and he said not to worry. So I got my oil change and left. My next visit, I come back and the man demands I pay and proceeds to tell me I can't have my car back! I had to get police involved to get it back! The whole operation is shady! I don't recommend anyone doing bussiness with these people. read more

Deceitful and does not honor their own advertised prices. Recently, we called about a truck for our business... We gave our credit card as a hold on the vehicle as we secured a business loan. We emailed twice and updated as to where we were in obtaining the loan, and thanked them for the 'professional courtesy' as we became funded. Then the owner went to an auction and noticed that prices were on the rise. That should not be an issue for the buyer, correct? Well at Performance Motorcars, any chance to bump the customer for more money is a chance they are willing to take. We received a call that the 'NEW' price (the unit that we agreed to and gave our credit card as a hold, and were assured that the unit was ours) was going to be $4000 higher. The poor salesman, clearly embarrassed said that he personally spoke to the owner and asked that they only 'bump' us $1000. Any 'bump' is a dishonorable action and speaks a lot as to the ethics of the owners. When our manager handling the transaction called, presumably speaking to the owner, the story changed to $2000 more, take it or leave it. These are hard times for all businesses, no matter the size or scope. This breach of professionalism spits in the face of all honorable and trusting customers. Note: They took our credit card info but conveniently did not 'run' a charge. You see, that would have represented a contractual obligation on the merchants part. Well done Performance Motorcars, you just set back the good name of 'used car salesman' 50 years. The public is better served steering their business to a local OEM dealership. Buyers beware a real scam artist. Bought a van with only 8000 miles on it and paid over 20k. Found out van was leaking from 4 different spots on roof and there was no spare tire or jack. Owner said he would fix the problem the right way but just used white caulking and made a huge mess. At best a temporary fix and looks terrible. They were supposed to give me a spare and jack. I bought a used car on 3/11/2020 with a full warranty. On 4/30, my car's Front Left tire completely blew off the car, forcing me to lose control and my car being completely undrivable. I called the dealership, spoke to the sales rep who sold me the car, he told me to have it towed to them. 5/1, I spoke with the owner and he said that ''something is fishy'', ''why would the car tire do that'', ''when it left here, it was in perfect shape'', ''someone must have tampered with your car's tire''. He said he would have his mechanic look at it on Monday. 5/4 the mechanic called me to tell me that the only way the tire could have come off like it did, forcing me to crash down on my rotor and losing control of the car, was because someone MUST HAVE loosened the lug nuts. The only explanation is that someone must have tried to steal my (used tires from my used 2009 car), got scared during it, and ran off. There is no other explanation because they would never not do their job right. I explained I work at a hospital with security cameras in the parking lot. There have been no issues of someone tampering with cars at my job. Also, with he Covid-19 pandemic, I don't go anywhere. I go to work and then home. I live in the middle of nowhere cow country, and have 4 large dogs. NO ONE tried to come and take my car tires. I called the owner, and tried to explain how I think this is covered in the warranty. I said it's not legal to not honor the warranty. He told me "then get a lawyer. I have lawyers surrounding me! If you want to take me to court for $1000, I'll turn it into $10,000 on YOUR ass. Oh, and if you want your car, it's $100." He then hung up on me. My boyfriend called to pay the $100. The owner told him, "No, the only way I'll release the car is if you take down any bad reviews, post a good review on google and sign something that says she'll never post a bad review anywhere." read more

My brother bought a BMW for $15,000 about a year ago from this Junkyard and has had nothing but problems with this car since he bought it. Check Engoine Light always comes back on and he supposidly has some great warranty that the shop never stands by and when they try to fix the problems, THEY DONT FIX THEM, THEY COME BACK. This is one of the worst used car dealer in all of Dutchess County, They sold me a car that I brought back in just a couple of months letting them know that the car had no exceleration when going up a hill or taking off from a traffic light, I brought that to there attention and was told by the mechanic and I quote "Oh that's how that year was" end of quote. And this person is a mechanic?????? Also when putting the car in reverse I had a loud banging noise, guess that was normal also? They had no idea what it was, well guys it was two motor mounts!!!! Brought the car back a couple more times with the two problem, well I thought it was just two problems, (WRONG) the mechanic tells me he will make a adjustment on the computer, OK, and they inspect the car, how I have no idea, because the next time I go up the mechanic comes out scratching his head and said I don't understand the car didn't pass inspection, when I hooked it up to DMV it says the Engine light is on, but when I looked inside the car there is no light on, so then they tell me that there $10,000 computer will find the problem, well now they tell me that it is a transmission problem and I will have to take it to a transmission shop so that is what I had to do. The Transmission fellow took it for a test ride, which of course the mechanic at Performance didn't even attempt to do, and when he came back he said I know exactly what the problem is, you have been driving this care in 2nd & 3rd gear only because you have no first gear and the car was sold to you that way, and the reason you didn't know that the engine light was on, is that there was no BULB in the car to detect that there was a problem with the car, so now the computer is ruined and has to be replaced, I wasn't that worried because I had bought a extended warranty for $1,563.00 to cover the repairs, but that didn't happen because the extended warranty ran out the day before the work was to be done on my car, I called the warranty company and asked how come the warranty expired I asked doesn't a extended warranty kick in when the 30 day warranty from the dealer runs out, OH NO our warranty starts the same day you buy the car, well then why is it called a EXTENTED WARRANTY? Why would you have 2 warranties on your car????? It is really sad how this dealer Jacob screwed a hard working person he should be ashamed of himself but you know what there's Karma, so if you are thinking of buying a car from this place I wouldn't suggest it. Do not buy your car at performance. I bought a 2010 Subaru from Jacob (the owner) and traded in my 2003 Subaru. On the day I bought the 2010 from Performance, I heard a noise in the wheel well. I brought this to Jacob's attention. He assured me that it was the all-wheel drive tires, totally normal and not a problem. A few months later, it turns out that the noise was a transmission issue costing $1,400. Although I brought this problem to Jacob's attention on the day I bought the car, he would not own up to his mistake (about saying it was the tires) and only covered $200 of the repairs. Costing me $1200 out of pocket. He also remarked on the fact that I was a woman, and that I bought the car without a man present. To make matters worse, he told me that my 2003 trade-in was crushed and that he lost money on it. Today I got an email from a car dealership that PURCHASED said crushed trade-in, and needed help getting a new title. I will say that John and the service team are really great, but I would strongly suggest not taking your chances by buying a car from Performace. You've been warned. read more

I with they would let me get away with posting ZERO stars. We purchased a car from this place in August 2015. It has been back for repair of the same problem four times. Today makes the fifth. The problem never gets resolved. When I asked for them to pay for another mechanic to look at it, the Owner told me "never gonna happen". We have an extended warranty, but they are still trying to make us pay for the repair claiming the warranty time is up on this particular item. Never, EVER to to these guys. read more
