When it comes to gift certificates, you cannot book your service through their website, so I decided to go in person to make my appointment. The lady who helped me was super friendly and made me feel welcomed. It was highly recommended from the person who gifted me the gift certificate to either book with Wendy, due to her pressure of really getting in those tight areas, or May, who was also really great. It just so happened May was available for the time that worked for me. The spa is clean, May came to greet me right on time, she asked me if I had any area's I wanted her to focus on, and checked in on me multiple times throughout the massage to confirm her pressure was ok. I never felt so relaxed and so comfortable. I would definitely recommend booking with May for your next massage in Burlingame!

I've been to different massage places but this was the most unusual experience. Most of the time the massage was dry rubbing or constant rubbing me. It was also pulsating massage instead of a nice subtle pressure. I've done deep tissue and swedish at multiple places so I thought this was odd. Additionally, when they massaged my neck, I felt like they were pressing down on my carotid artery. Overall, I felt like the person doing my massage wasn't trained well or it was overall very odd. I disliked the constant repetitive rubbing over my shoulders. There was no compression and it just felt like they were just rubbing to make me feel like this was deep. My legs were barely massaged, there was no real technique, and my arms were essentially forgotten. They were rubbed for about a minute, shaken a bit, and then she moved on. Even small details felt sloppy. When lotion was applied, it was just pumped directly onto my back rather than worked in properly. My partner's experience was just as uncomfortable. His masseuse left midway through, and the front desk employee took over, which felt very strange, rushed, and unprofessional. Yes, it is easy to get an appointment here, but consistency matters. Anyway, I eventually moved to the Peninsula, got a car, and went back to Carrina. She's amazing. One of my pet peeves is when massage therapists don't listen to what you actually need when you tell them and just do their normal routine. Carrina is refreshingly different because she actually listens to what you tell her when you explain what's happening and why you're there to see her, and she somehow magically finds and works out all the knots - even the ones I didn't know I had. Absolutely recommend Carrina and worth the monthly investment as part of self care!

I came here today and wow. Eva did my 90 minute deep tissue massage, cupping, and hot stone. She did so good! She's amazing at what she does, and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. It was my first time cupping. She made sure I knew what to expect, and asked how I was doing throughout the process. The amount of pressure she applied was *chefs kiss*. Will definitely be coming back and making this at least a quarterly routine.
