Ok I am finally getting around to writing a review for Reids. I have their business card and it has been sitting on my desk for some time. I got my Honda Fit serviced on 10/4/2016. My wife and I are new to the area, we moved from Santa Clarita to Highland and are renovating a home and are driving back and forth from AZ (vacation home) to check on the progress. While I am tooling down the street coming to a stop I start to hear some god awful noise coming from somewhere. This is my worst nightmare, being new to the area without having established shops to fix things. So I got on Yelp and started looking around. I dislike Honda dealers they are always trying to sell you something plus I like to do business with smaller shops. I read all the reviews for Reid's and the one that caught my eye was of course the most negative one. What I really liked was the in depth response that Reid's provided regarding the situation with the car that had been serviced. They had documented everything that was done to the car and in detail. For my car the problem turned out to be the Front Brakes, they fixed them I also had them do an Oil Change as well since the car needed one. I dropped the car off at around 8am I figured it was going to be a day or 2 to have the work done. The young lady at the counter said Oh no we will have it done today. Sure enough at around 12:00 noon they called and car was ready for me to come in and pay the bill and pick it up. I was in and out of there in 4 hours NOW that is what I call service. Took my car in for a heater control valve replacement. Because I supplied the part I was charged an extra $50 to install it. I also requested a complete and thorough inspection. Upon their inspection they found that the front and side motor mounts were broken, and inspected a spark plug to see how they were, and found oil in the spark plug tube which meant the seals were leaking oil into them. After discussing how much it would be for parts and labor to repair these items, they kept insisting that when doing the motor mount to replace the radiator, because the likelihood of damaging the radiator, during removal to get to the motor mount would most likely happen. Additionally, I was asking about doing a valve adjustment and they said they could hook it up to a computer and tell if the valves were within spec. I called a retired Acura tech friend of mine and asked him if this was possible. He steadfastly advised there is no computer that could tell if the valves were within spec, and only by removing the valve covers could one determine if they were within spec. Between the radiator upsell and the CPU valve check had me very wary. I was given a quote for the repairs and I was on my way. When I got home for some reason, I chose to pop the hood to inspect their work replacing the heater valve. I found that they had NOT reinstalled the engine plastics or reinstalled the top engine brace. Let me say that again, all the engine plastics and the top engine brace were NOT reinstalled after installing the heater valve & the car was given back to me. The next morning I had to go back to have them reinstall the sway bar and plastics. After that, I decided to take my car to the dealer and have them do the motor mounts and other repairs that needed to be done. I then asked the Acura tech about the valve adjustment and if a CPU could be used to determine if they are in spec and he looked at me like I was crazy and said no & only by removing the valve covers Could they be inspected and never heard of a computer being able to determine that. Additionally, I asked him to look at my radiator and see if it was decayed or even needed to be removed during a front motor mount replacement, and he said no. He said removing the radiator would add time to the job and did not need to be removed to replace the front motor mount. I did all the necessary work at the Acura dealer in the desert and the tech said my radiator was in fine shape no concerns. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Reids. read more

The entire experience was fantastic! To get Dealer level service at half the cost is unbelievable. I brought Reid's my Acura RDX that 2 "Craigslist" mechanics -and myself had all attempted to fix---but really we just added to the problem. Both mechanics said only the dealer could replace and program the main computer since it was a 2013, along with the fact it was cheaper to just replace the wiring harness than to keep tracing out the cables. Reid's not only reprogrammed the computer, but there wasn't a problem with the wiring harness. The real problem was in a different module. These guys are honest and fair! this is a mechanic you can trust. We have been using Reid's for our Honda's for I would estimate 9 years or more now. NO WAY you should ever go to a dealer again. The dealers charge you just to park your car on their property. . In fact, they've even done some minor things for no charge. I've dealt with Reid, his wife they've all been great. I've heard, "You don't need to fix that, they just want your money" or, "You can wait to fix that until we are already in there doing the timing belt to save you some money" from Reid...... , but everything else is a Honda, I was close to him NOW i travel 45 minutes to get to him. I am so impressed with this place. Here's my story: I have a 2008 Honda CRV and the air conditioner started blowing only hot air. With a heat wave on the way, this was really upsetting and i had thoughts of spending big bucks to have it fixed. I started out going to the local place where I have my oil changed. I called and was told that they also repair car air conditioners. So, I took the car over there and after an hour and over $100, I was told that they really couldn't find out what the problem was, and that they didn't have anymore time that day to try to figure it out. This was on a Thursday and they told me that the earliest they could devote the time to the car was Monday. Because of their lack of knowledge about Hondas, I had already made up my mind that I would take the car to the dealer and just bite the bullet and spend the zillion dollars it would certainly cost. After all, it didn't make sense to me to throw good money after bad by going back to the same place. I was talking to my son and told him what was going on with the car. He said that I should go to a place called Reid's in Redlands. He said that when he had his Acura, this is the only place he would go He told me that they were really honest there and knew their stuff. So, I gave a call and set up an approximate time for early Monday morning. I was already impressed when the gal that answered the phone actually knew more about my car without even seeing it than the local mechanic did. When we arrived at Reid's on Monday morning, we were greeted like old friends ... the nicest people you ever want to meet. After a few tests and examinations, the verdict was that the coil in the car's clutch on the compressor was defective. Yikes! Sounds serious right? Well it is, and can be costly with parts, labor and other complications. Then, Reid thought that he may have seen something online about there being a recall for this very defect. He called the Honda dealer in Corona and asked them about it and had them fax a report over. Sure enough, in Reid's opinion, my car DID qualify and hid recommendation was to take the car to the Honda dealer and have the fix the problem FOR FREE. Wow! he could have easily given us the bad news of what it would cost to have it fixed and done the job. Instead, he gave up the business to refer us to the dealer. Needless to say, Reid's is now the place where I will take my car for EVERYTHING! If you want honest, knowledgeable people servicing your Honda, I highly recommend Reid's. I came here because my check engine light went on. I agreed for them to change my oil and top off my transmission fluid. They gave me a piece of paper stating that I should change my radiator since my car was over 10 years old. The owner decided to pressurize my radiator and busted it. No big deal it probably needed to be replaced anyway. Instead of taking responsibility for it he told me that I was driving my car on it for a while. I still did not realize what he had done. They said they would replace it and quoted me a price. But that I shouldn't drive my car anywhere because I probably had considerable engine damage. The owner was rude, abrasive and honestly scared the heck out of me. I left there and my husband called him. He asked him how long my miles I would have made it with a busted radiator, to which the owner asked him how far I normally drive. My husband said it doesn't matter I want to know how far she would have gone. The owner said 20 miles. My husband knew I had just driven to the beach and back. I began calling around to different mechanics with good reputations around town. They quoted me on average $200 less than Reid's! Wow. When I called again the owner's wife answered. Wow, she really shouldn't be in a position of customer service. She is haughty, rude and entitled. When she gave me a breakdown of the price she broke it down completely differently than the first receptionist. When I told her I didn't want them to work on my car anymore, she said that she needed to charge me $50 for a restocking fee to get my car back since they already ordered the part. I said don't you think that's a little expensive for that when your supplier comes here 5 times a day? Which is what the other receptionist had told me. Then she said, well it's also for a diagnostic fee. This company claims to have a free diagnostic fee. When I explained that to her, she said they went further than a regular diagnostic. When I got the invoice they charged me 21.60 for coolant and 28.40 for a restocking fee, which conveniently added up to exactly $50. Nothing suspicious there! To me it seems like this company wants to take advantage of women who don't know very much about cars. They are overpriced and rude. They also make a lot of money on radiators and scaring people into thinking they've damaged their engine when they are the ones who bust your radiators for you. I would steer clear of this place if I were you. And if you thought this was long... this was the short version. read more

In A Nutshell: Had a car with a outer door hinge that was busted. Can't open the door from the outside, only the inside. Took it to Reid's. Mr. Brilliant Mechanic opens the door, puts on the inner door child lock, and closes the door, so it wouldn't open at all. Thanks, dope. I get a quote, say OK, and take it back the next day. Call throughout the day, knowing that they close at 4 (God forbid they would work at least until 5 like, I don't know, every other place in town), I ask about the car. Finally at 3 they call me back, but I can't get there until 5:15. They say, sorry, but we can't wait for you. I tell them to leave the key under the mat, and I'll use my spare. Pay with a CC over the phone, get the car. Three weeks later, the door's broken again. I took it back, and they fixed it, but the hassle was a joke. The kids that work there act like a group of short-timers who don't really want to be there. I probably won't go back there for anything else, sad to say. They really needf to work on their personal servicing skills. read more

I have been to this place three times, each time giving them the benefit of the doubt. I have never been to a place before where I had to explain in detail and convince the owner to give me an oil change, transmission fluid change, flush my radiator, and flush my brake lines. He actually laughed in my face when I told him that I wanted all of this done, even though it was a few thousand miles before I was supposed to. I told him I just bought a car and I don't know what the past owner has done to it so I would like all new fluids in it. He thought that was comical and convinced me to not get the work done. The owner is very condescending, he kept referring to me as a "racer" that I had a racer car and kept reassuring me that I made a bad buy. When really there was nothing wrong with the car mechanically everything has been running smooth and have not found an imperfection in it at all. The second time I was there the owner ignored me and talked about his cell phone and all the cameras he has with another customer for over 10 minutes I left to get an oil change someone else. The third time I went the owners wife spoke to another woman behind the counter for over five minutes about the business, which I had no problem with because it referred to business but neither of them said a single word to me the entire time. Never looked up at me and said to wait a minute or anything. So again feeling neglected I took my business elsewhere. I feel like they treated me differently because of my age, I am 22. I also feel as though they treat older customers much better. They could've had a lifelong customer but lost that chance by treating me the way they did. They also lost chance of having any of my friends going there. I was treated proper by one employee, by one of the main mechanics, he owns his own shop now I will be taking my business there from now on. read more

With a heavy heart, I'm knocking 2 stars. It seems Reid is taking a back seat on the daily operations and his young guys are fast and careless. It's happened a few times they would forget to reset the maintenance needed light and other small things that would require a return trip. Not sure if it's still worth it for us to drive to Redlands from Cucamonga for service. We've been taking our car to them for at least five years, so it's unfortunate that we're rethinking going back here. We have a mechanic (not a Honda specialist) out in RC who charges more, but may be more worth our while. Hope things look up for Reid and the guys. I used to like coming here. read more

Wonderful! They do not over charge at all I found them to be very reasonable. I priced many places and this was the lowest. As for synthetic oil all Hondas use it now,and since that's all they do its all they have. It is much better for your car in the long run. I took my car here on a recommendation from a friend. I thought the problem was a faulty starter. When I took it to Reid's, they had the quote ready to roll and were ready to take me back to work. I asked Reid to take a look at it before I left. He quickly diagnosed it was a simple battery issue, rather than my initial assessment of the faulty starter. The guys replaced my battery on the spot within 15 minutes, as well as changed my transmission fluid. I was in and out in 20 minutes, with no headache and a car that runs just fine.
