Came here a few months ago for drinks. Based on the server's rave review of Peroni beer (Italian), I tried one. Probably one of the worst beers ever. Depending on your mood, the Regal Beagle has either the most awesome or worst-ever playlist of 90s pop music spinning on perennial repeat. I've been there twice -- months apart -- and heard the same music both times. In that respect and others, the Regal Beagle meets your expectations for a characterless bar. It offers an average beer selection, "Cheers"-like bar decor and an average bar food menu. I know I'm damning with faint praise here, so I'll also add that both times I've been to the Regal Beagle I've enjoyed myself because I was with good people. Awwwww! read more

There have been some improvements to the menu and the patio which is great. I think further improvements could include more craft beer on tap (it's always the same Graffiti IPA!) and hanging mini lights/Christmas lights around for atmospheric effect. read more

I don't know why so many people aren't a fan of the Regal Beagle. It's in a great location a few blocks away from the 99 B-line stop in Kitsilano. I came here with some friends on a Friday night around 10:30pm, and we were able to find a table in the back. We got a few pints of Sapporo and ordered the nachos. They were a bit expensive, but we got a massive pile of nachos with lots of toppings. It was a little bit loud inside, but you could still have a conversation. While not as harsh as Amanda C, overall I have to agree with her. Obviously Diarmuid M is either a manager, or the new chef himself. I also had stopped going to the Beagle because how awful it was, but then I heard about the renovation, and new chef. We decided to give it another try. On the renovation front, I will give them kudos. It is much nicer than it was before, but still retains the comfy neighborhood pub feel. I don't like the dining side as much though, because the bright kitchen is too much in your face. Now the food, well despite their new 'chef' as they claim, the food shows no improvement. It is absolute crap. I've been twice to give it the benefit of the doubt, before saying anythin. The burgers taste like the standard cheap frozen burgers on a wonderbread bun. The fries are disgusting greasy and ugly. And the lamb dip is dry bland, and has no gaminess to it all...I question whether it even is lamb. And the au jus tasted like dirty water. So, I would recommend the Beagle if you are going to drink only, and not touch the food. If you're hungry, absolutely DO NOT GO HERE! read more

We stopped in early one Saturday afternoon for a bite to eat. I had a burger that was fairly tasty and thought the fries were actaully quite good. My wife had some kind of egg benny thing and she thought is was quite good as well. We'll go back. One thing to remember is that people are often motivated to write negative reviews. read more

I had decided to return to the "not so" Regal Beagle, again due to the trust in taste of Diarmuid M.'s review. and once again I ve been disappointed. Let s just say I wouldn't be surprised if Diarmuid worked for the Regal Beagle and is trying to change the masses views. We ordered the catfish and pork entree. It was god awful! The pork was dry and accompanied by an overly bitter pomegranate sauce and a under seasoned gelatinous mass of some sort of sweetened potato. The catfish, being relatively edible was small in portion and expensive in price. The layout was very nice. We had the choice in either being seated in the casual dinning or sports bar side. All in all, I would not only never return to this restaurant for food, but I would only recommend this menu to people who I do not like. read more

The only reason why I gave this place s second chance is because it's close to after our baseball game. Both times shitty service. They either forgot about you or don't acknowledge that you're there. My friend ordered a veggie burger and they gave her a beef burger and I ordered fish tacos which said came with coleslaw on top but really it was just dry shedder cabbage. Anytime anyone wants to go here me and my friends now boycott it because the service is SO BAD. read more

We went for dinner and drinks on Friday of the long weekend. I ordered a pizza that actually wasn't bad. I ate half and intended to take the other half home. The waiter/bartender took the remaining pizza to be boxed up and walked by the kitchen to the back area. He picked up a box; dropped it; then used his bare hands to divide the remaining pizza in half and toss both halves in the box?!?!?! I couldn't believe it! The man has been cleaning the bar, glad-handing with customers, etc. I don't want his hands on my food. Needless to say, I left the pizza there. However, I suspect that the short blonde waitress would eat what I left. While we were having our drinks, I noticed that chicken tenders were placed under the heat lamps waiting for pick up. The short blonde waitress walked by, took a piece of the chicken and dipped it into the sauce. She walked away eating her chicken. Okay, I wouldn't think this would be a big deal assuming it was her meal. It wasn't! Another waiter came by and delivered the food to a customer! What the heck was going on!?! Even though the pizza wasn't bad, I cannot imagine ever going back to the Beagle for food!! read more

This is truly your neighbourhood bar...even if you don't live in the neighbourhood. Everyone here knows your name - and if they don't when you walk in, they will before you leave. I only ate the sliders as I warned that some of the other dishes aren't good...so beware the menu but if you're looking for a casual drink I would definitely recommend The Regal Beagle read more

Have mostly been here on weekdays. A solid choice for food and drinks, plus they normally have pretty decent music playing as well. Canucks games played with sound on. Beware Leafs haters: all Leafs games are played with sound also. Fair warning :) read more

My friends took me here for a hangover breakfast and I was pleasntly surprised. I had the chorizo hash. It was spicy and a perfect morning reset. The staff was pleasant and the caesar I had was the a great hair if the dog restart. Not the best breakfast I ever had and a bit pricey but very filling and enjoyable. read more

Neighbourhood pub - Lots of great food on the menu. My favourite is the Jerk Chicken Burger. Popular place among sports league teams - basketball/ road biking/ rugby - they all wind up at this pub. read more

I live close by and come often. The people here are incredible and make the difference. I was here on the weekend and really liked the "ranchero" brunch option, the place was packed. Also a really great place to come see the Leafs play. Standing room only for each playoff game last year. Personally I hate the Leafs, so coming here to heckle their fans while they collapse in the playoffs is always a good time since they congregate here in droves. A great pub. read more

I was visiting Vancouver with my girlfriend and we were trying to find a place still open for food and drinks at 12am midnight. We walked down broadway until we found the Regal Beagle. Our server was Jason, and we talked about good places to see in the city and great stories of travels. We ordered a pizza and a few drinks while enjoying some great music. Our pizza apparently got a bit burned, so Jason bought us a whole extra round on the house. The pizza came out delicious and was scarfed down by two drunk mouths. Meanwhile, Jason took a shot with me and sent us on our way. Drinks were great, Pizza was excellent, Nachos looked unbelievable(saw from a far) and our service with Jason was one of the most memorable of the trip. Thanks man! OK THIS IS IMPORTANT... DATE OF THIS REVIEW... this bar has redesigned, got a new chef and a new menu. I live locally and I would have agreed with most of the previously reviews in the OLD DAYS... its all changed now... I love what they have done ESPECIALY WITH THE FOOD.. the presentation and flavours are great. Myself and my girlfriend go here now every saturday for Brunch its that good. We are so happy with the brunch that it is in fact very difficult now to go anywhere else as its proven to be a disappointment by comparison. I have no affiliation with this bar. I'm not even from Vancouver. But I know quality when i experience it and for the complete turn around the Reagle Beagle has made and in doing so deliever a quality product... for this I give them 5 stars read more

The food was just like any other pub... Pub food. Except it was all COLD because the waitress waited for all the food to be done before serving. We began eating after waiting 40 minutes and asked for the bill which took another entire 45 minutes to get and pay. Never coming back, especially because our lunch hour is exactly that... I've been here several times over the years. Their cheap breakfast is good value but otherwise I'd say things are priced a little high for what you get. The service is generally excellent. Drinking wise I'd stick to beer as I've had a few seemingly water down highballs. read more

At first the pub seemed akin to an English pub, but as we sat down our perception slowly started to deteriorate. The booze came miraculously quickly but when we ordered food it took more than an hour. whilst we were waiting for food there was a live band playing, theoretically it should be a great idea however since place is so small it's hard to have a conversation with with the music blasting. The beer was disappointing as it was more suited for the uninformed beer drinker. I must say I did enjoy the skinny sweet potato fries but that was about it. The Regal Beagle had a great thing going with their cheap breakfast until they allowed it to get out of their control. In there on a Sunday at 11am and the place was full but no line up, so we figured it wouldn't be much of a wait, so we told the server we'd sit at the bar until a table became available. She tried to get us to sit outside in the rain or go away, telling us a table would be an hour wait. We decided to order food right away because the bartender told us there was about a 15-20 min wait for our breakfast- eggs hashbrowns and toast. After an hour wait, we decided to ask how much longer it would be and with attitude were told an hour! This place isn't worth it, and clearly don't care about the customer. I've read these other reviews and there are lots of other options for a great, cheap and reliable Sunday Brunch. Try Migz instead they got a breakfast and a caesar for 8 bucks. Good TVs too. Don't waste your time at the Beagle, you'll wait forever. read more
