I have an older 1948 house with a large backyard and big trees. Every couple years the main sewer line will back up and needs to be snaked or most recently, the interior stack in the house was clogged causing shower & kitchen sink water (luckily not sewage this time :) to not drain and back up. I live in an old vintage condo in Seattle's U-District. I contacted Reel Rooter Services because my kitchen sink drain was clogged. Another plumber actually recommended them, saying they're honest and don't inflate the cost with miscellaneous and unnecessary fees like a lot of other ones do. I called six other plumbing and drain cleaning services and they were all far more expensive. Reel Rooter Services was two-thirds to half the price of all the other bids! Noah came out the same day I called, he was right on time, and cleared the drain in just a few minutes. He had to snake around 20'. Noah said it's pretty common that older pipes are rusty inside and easily catch debris and grease. Then he went into my bathroom since he fixed the kitchen sink well within the first hour billing and made the bathroom sink and toilet run better. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

In the past couple months our sink & shower started to gargle ... soon enough our sewer backed up. I had a blockage in my main sewer line which is not pleasant. I had another plumber come out and said that they could not use an inside cleanout (in my basement bathroom) to clear the clog because it would make too much of a mess inside the house and that they would need to install an external cleanout outside the house. They gave me a quote of over $6000. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and called Reel Rooter. They said that an inside cleanout would be no problem and were able to come out the next morning on a Saturday. Daniel arrived Saturday morning. He is not a man of many words, but he was calm and friendly and got to work quickly. Within 30 minutes he had cleared the clog and he didn't make much of a mess. And, what little mess there was, he cleaned up. My drains are flowing again and it only cost me $225 (not $6000+). I'm a very satisfied customer. read more

Hard to really judge the work, the work never got done. Easy to have good reviews when you only do the simple jobs. We called because our bathroom evacuation got clogged and was draining slowly. the person called 10 min before to make sure someone was there but didn't introduce himself properly which created confusion. Upon arrival, he did not introduce himself nor did he offer to remove or cover his shoes before getting in through the front door. Looking at the bathroom he said his company doesn't work if it's not fully drained, he is not equipped, they only have snake no vacuum. Then I invited him to looked at the pipes in the garage below. Looking at the pipes, he said that he doesn't work if the pipes are up( just above the head). He usually work in crawl space where the pipes are down! He advised me to find somebody else ( i waited all morning already for him) or wait until it drained fully (by the look of it, not until late tomorrow), then he left! read more

I have got to say, that while they weren't able to get the entire root ball out (Northshore Utilities District had to do it from the 8" pipe end... and it was huge), I will be using Reel Rooter in the future. Steve was onsite with Josh, and they tackled that mess with their entire arsenal. They were able to cut the root at the source which was integral for the utility to flush it out. Steve recommended that I call the City to see if they could tackle it but I live in a part of the city where I'm serviced by Northshore. But that was exactly the information that I needed from Steve to get a completely cleaned out main. Steve was extremely fair and generous on the price of the job that they did. The company that I had initially called drilled a small 2" hole in the root ball to start clearing the drain. Then they were talking about a $7500 excavation job. Josh did a fantastic job cutting the roots from the source and doing everything that they could to push it down as far down the line as they could. Tonight I am breathing a huge sigh of relief because I went with Reel Rooter. I cannot say enough good things about this company. read more

These guys did our sewer inspection when we bought the house, and came out to give us a second opinion when we'd been given bad information from another vendor. (See my review of another company from the south and west) Steve remembered our house and our "pipes", said off the top that the recommendation we'd gotten from the other vendor was not viable. I originally met Steve when he scoped the sewer line in the house we were planning to buy. He mentioned he'd been to the house several times in the past. We are now the proud owners of that home and when we had a drain back-up during the "pineapple express" Steve was the first person we called. He showed up the next day. The ceilings were already open to replace old plumbing and he immediately noticed the drain from the upstairs bath that had caused the previous owners years of trouble. Steve's advice, "Get it out now while the ceilings are open." Serendipity, I say. Ceilings were being closed up the next day. I talked to him yesterday by phone about our slow-flushing, often clogging toilets. He asked me all sorts of questions and had me check some things on our toilets. (He really wanted to save me the cost of a service call if possible.) I decided I really needed him to come out and take a look at each of our toilets, and he just left. GREAT TIP: If you have low-flush toilets and teenagers, switch to Safeway's "Softly" toilet paper! Teenagers + Costco's Kirkland toilet paper + low-flush toilets = clog trouble. read more

(Have no idea why it says San Francisco, I live in Seattle.) We had a horrible sewer backup problem that left a part of our basement covered in sewage. Called Reel Rooter Services, and they came out early the next day. Noah got right to work, and snaked the entire 120' sewer line, finding only one slight trouble spot where there was a small amount of roots in the line. He scoured the roots out, which cleared the blockage, and suggested another service that they offer "but only if you want to, it's really not necessary for about another year or so", which is doing a sewer scope camera assessment of this one trouble spot. He said they would pinpoint the spot, and recommend spot repair rather than full sewer line replacement. Noah was fast, knew his stuff, and his recommendations were budget-friendly. Love that we could support a small, local, family company, and that our horrible problem was fixed so quickly. Now we're just mopping up. Highly recommend Reel Rooter Services, we will definitely use them again, should the need arise. Great company! read more

WOW! Great work by Reel Rooter today. I had a stopped up/slow mainline and called Mr. Rooter. They came out and quoted me $560. I asked the "dispatcher" to provide a ball park price knowing that they try and get people at the house to make it harder to say "no", a deceptive but known practice, but he coudn't provide one, only stating that they have to diagnose first. I then I said there has to be a baseline price, whether Mr.Rooter is there for 10min or 1hour they have a minium and I wanted to know that. Again, the run-around without a price given. I had them send a guy anyway knowing that I could always take my business outside if necessary. The guy game, told me he has 50Ft or 75fton the line and if they needed to run more it would be an additional X$ for 50ft. I had none of these issues with Reel Rooter and Steve. His prices are listed online. They didn't unnecessarily try and sell me on a cam inspection, etc. They came out, ran the line, the clog freed and everything was great. Not to say that it will always be this easy or a customer won't need a camera scope, but I didn't feel like I was being upsold to nor felt as if there was any deception. They did a great job so I had them install my new toilet for another $50, something I could have done myself, but would rather have given them the work/business. In addition I asked that Reel Rotor be here at 9, they were here at 9. Just another plus, when so many other people don't show on-time or show late without a phone call. This is the 2nd time I have used Reel Rooter as the 2nd call for a sewer problem at one of my rental properties. Both times another company had come and had stated that they need to install and external cleanout or dig up the entire sewer pipe to fix the clogged pipe. Once the estimate was $5,000, and my tenant paid them about $1,000 for them to tell her this. The second time the estimate was about 1,500 for the cleanout, but i never did get the full quote that they promised to email me right away. Both times Reel Rooter came after, calmly unclogged it, said no need for that and showed me exactly on his camera what he was doing and how it was perfectly fine after he had done his work. His prices are reasonable, fair and not extremely inflated as the others were. One of the other ones, charged $150 extra because he had to carry his equipment up the stairs! I paid Daniel at Reel Rooter 190 - $225 for both of these visit and would only recommend them. Beware of all other sewer quotes and get a couple for sure! read more

$160 for just the service service call, when no work is done, is extremely expensive! Suds were coming up from laundry drain hose. We weren't sure if our problem was sewer or plumbing. Steve listened to the water draining and said that it wasn't a sewer problem. Just to come out and within less than 15 minutes tell us it was not a problem they could fix cost us a whopping $160 for the service call. Roto-Rooter didn't charge ANYTHING to come out for an estimate/service call. We agree it's fair to charge something but we felt completely ripped off having to pay $160 for nothing. read more

Steve literally saved me thousands of dollars and I will never call anyone else again. I had two big-name companies give me bids on a badly clogged main-waste drain pipe, and they both quoted me several thousand dollars (at the minimum) to dig up our septic, yard, and pipes. Steve and Anthony came out and were determined to clear that pipe. It took them 2 1/2 hours of sitting in our tiny crawl space, getting God-knows-what out of that pipe, but they never gave up. We have a perennial problem with roots in our side sewer. Daniel came out right on time, and got the snake into the cleanout (and ours is in a very awkward place in the crawlspace). After reading Yelp reviews it was an easy decision to call Reel Rooter Services to clean out a main sewer line. Response time was more than adequate and the tech rep Anthony arrived at the beginning of the time window I was given. Their hourly rate is more than reasonable. When Anthony arrived he started working straight away and it's evident that this young man takes pride in doing his job correctly. Special attention was paid to ensuing that the surrounding area around the clean out was covered to prevent sewage spraying the area while inserting the rooter and extracting it. In about 20 mins my drain was open and Anthony continued to snake the sewer line to the street. The job was completed within an hour and I could not be more satisfied with Anthony and his work ethic. If you have a need for Rooter Services, you should as I did make this your 1st call. Also, Reel Rooter Services is a family owned business, which is a plus in my book. Reasonable, Quick Response Time, Knowledgeable, Family owned! I will definitely use them again. read more
