After the complete scam of being told my furnace had to be replaced. The owner came out and did absolutely nothing nothing. Now several years later they offered a free tune up and cleaning. The guy came and stood in front of my furnace never touching anything. He read off of his tablet some scam saying that I needed to replace all my ducts. I called another company and they adjusted the settings and everything is working perfectly. So run away from this company they are pirates looking to steal are your hard earned money. Absolutely, horrible horrible company. I had this company come out just to give me a quote on adding a new plug to a wall. This girl Taylor continued to then walk around my house and question what kind of electrical maintenance I was doing. She went downstairs and looked at both of my panels. Then she checked a charge and some of my plugs and continue to tell me that my plugs were working hard harder than they should and that there's always a chance for an electrical fire. She then continued to say that my panels were incorrect. She pressured us by saying she wanted a supervisor to come out and asked when we would be available again. I told her we would be available on a weekend and so she was scheduled to come out today (Super Bowl Sunday) from 8 to noon- we made this appointment in person at the time of the first appointment, and I reminded her that it was the Super Bowl and that we had company coming over and as long as it was just a conversation, we were fine with it. Day of, I get a call from Dear Services- stating Taylor is unavailable- and wanting to reschedule me. This is after I received a text with her name and picture saying she was arriving and only one hour after our 4-hour window was closing. Reading the previous reviews I now see that they try to pressure people into getting new electric work that may be unnecessary. All I wanted was a plug added to a wall, and it turned into this. Extremely unethical. The tech told me there my 12 yo minisplit that stopped working had a refrigerant leak and a siezed motor and it couldn't be fixed. Called his colleague (sales guy), who quoted me $11,000 to replace a single unit in an 800 sq foot house. Told me I could probably find another tech to take it out and get rid of it. I had another tech come. He found a blown fuse, replaced it, and it works fine. He said there is no indication of a refrigerant leak and asked me if the company who came was Dear services as they are the worst. I got a message from Dear as the good tech was replacing the fuse. It said I was eligible for a special price on my previous $11,000 quote. Luckily I was able to have the whole system checked and fuses replaced for $300 and it' working great. My friend had this company come out she wanted her furnace serviced to make sure everything was good for the upcoming winter This was November 2025 the technician/salesman told her she needed an entire new heating system and she ran the risk of burning her house down with the existing furnace, who would say that, especially to an 84-year-old woman what do you think her response was? exactly replace it. One project led to another project and another. Furnace, ducting, vapor barrier, complete plumbing repipe, ultimately she spent nearly $60,000, and they didn't even repair the drywall for repiping, Remember she's 84 years old do you think she was taken advantage of I do and she does, unfortunately she did not reach out to me for some independent advice. I hired these people after they found an electrical issue with my dishwasher. I paid $2700 after being told that they would have to go under the house and run new wiring. A few days later, an electrician arrived worked approximately 4 hours and left. I have asked repeatedly for an itemized copy of the invoice, the burnt out J box and the picture taken by the first technician. Still no response. Then they wanted to do a whole house inspection. I just wanted my leak fixed. Instead they sat me down and tried talking/selling me some membership and asked if their manager could stop by to ,"talk" to me. I know a hard sale when I see it. Again I told them I just wanted my leak fixed. So what does Dario do? He called the office and the lady said,"sounds like she doesn't want our help. Go ahead and leave." I will NEVER call this company and neither should you!! As they were leaving I told them that fine, but I just wanted my leak fixed and NOT a membership and they were the worst. We requested a service to repair a cracked pipe in a wall that we opened. We knew what had to be fixed but needed professionals to help complete the work. One worker from Deer came out and started going through his checklist of things he needed to look at that was completely unrelated to the issue we had. Water pressure, quality of water tank etc. Before he could give us a quote he said he had to "call his boss." His boss showed up and quoted $15,000 of work and basically tried to upsell us on things we didn't need. We asked again specifically for a quote on the cracked pipe and he refused to give us one that accurately reflected the work, quoting around $5,000. He just wanted to sell us what he wanted to sell us. It was so pushy and made my Husband and I so uncomfortable, we refused and had them leave. This felt like a total shake-down attempt. ICK!!! I called a company in Fremont called Garrett & Sons Hot Water and scheduled an appointment. I was surprised when Dear services showed up (Red flag #1). Upon closer inspection, the G&S listing on Google Maps is totally bogus, with almost 50 fake 5 star reviews. The person who showed up claimed to be a service technician but their mission was to sell services. When he asked if I was married and if my wife was home I knew where this was headed - "are you authorized to make a purchase decision" (Red Flag #2). After a bunch of brochures and signing of ipads, his supervisor was called in to quote the replacement of a water heater. Then came the quote: $8,000 (!!!!) for a 50 gallon hot water heater (Red Flag #3). I almost laughed in his face. When I said that it was "a little high" he said he could call his supervisor to see if he could lower the price. At this point I felt like I was in a dealership buying a used car. When I asked for a breakdown on the quote for parts and labor, I was told it was a "flat fee". My guess is that Dear Services uses fake listings on Google Maps as a way to escape their terrible brand reputation. Just avoid at all costs. read more

I had a serious sewer problem on 1/5/2024 which flooded my downstairs bathroom with water and feces. Dear, upon arrival gave the impression they were most interested in establishing a care plan for the future than fixing my problem, asked for an upfront payment of approaching $1000, most for guarantees and future "club". In the end, only $385.70 was for the work. The work: Used a simple snake, which I could have rented myself from Home Depot, they could not find or clear the obstructions (I asked for a snake with cutters to clear obstructions, said "can't do, might break my machine"). Declared they would fix obstructions by removing the pipe for $13,000. Later in the day, I hired a legitimate sewer company who used high pressure water to clear the system in 2 1/2 hours for a cost of $950. In summary, my impression was that Dear Co. did nothing to help my sewer problem and suggest (if they read this) to return my $385.70 read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My elderly (and disabled) father needed maintenance on his AC unit. The guy came out free of charge and said that both the AC and Furnace units needed to be replaced, backed it up with showing him pictures, using big words, etc. The guy then said that he needed his field supervisor to come out because they have more experience and could give him a quote. Obviously AC units and furnaces for an entire house is a large expense, so he decided to call another company and get a quote from them for a whole new system and turns out both are completely fine, and he needs a new breaker instead. Be very cautious!! We had DEAR Services come for an inspection for one burnt socket - first the electrician came and then the supervisor. the supervisor presented us options from $30,000 to $12k and then the last one $6,800. When we said we needed time to decide, the supervisor called the manager on speaker and he gave a $1000 off that they will start the project right away. We clearly mentioned that we need some time to think about it. The supervisor then brought out a document to sign and told us it was "just a $0 form and to release his visit" But when we actually read it, it included a clause that we have our legal 3-day cancellation right and we will be liable for 25% restocking fee if we don't cancel within that period" - he then presented us last document "this is one last, just sign it at the end" it was a " Waiver of 3 day cancellation"!!!!! He just slipped in like it was nothing and upon calling it out, he said "he pressed a wrong button. a wrong button ?? that could have costed me thousands of dollars!! They used high-pressure tactics, called managers on speakerphone, and kept insisting to let them "start right away." We refused. This kind of manipulation is not okay. I'm posting this to warn others to read everything carefully and never sign anything under pressure. Get a second opinion. You'll likely save yourself a fortune and a lot of stress. read more

I looked it up online, and the model they offer costs only $2500 (pre-tax). - Did the math in front of David. It should NOT cost more than $13k considering you are running a business. $23k means your operations are inefficient and you are trying to take advantage of this situation thinking I'm dumb. I got an MBA my math is sharper than yours, David. - This company uses high-pressure sales tactics to make you sign the over-priced contract. RUN! My friend and I called David out and he became extremely defensive about it. Yes because you lied to customers and I strongly believe your company is gonna die very soon. - I hope you see this review: I did shop around more than one company out there that offer $6k for the furnace including installation, a 5-year labor warranty (better than Dear's 1-year labor warranty) and it's a 96% 2-stage furnace. So your company isn't that exceptional asking for $13k. - Also your technicians left all my parts, and screws not back in the original form. Now you tell me you guys care for the customers? BS! Brad, the technician immediately got the old unit to light up; however, due to the age...he did a more extensive evaluation with a scope & found large crack in the heat exchange component. Clearly due to age but potentially very unsafe to continue using (carbon monoxide release). He immediately dispatched Johnny to get an estimate for new replacement. Johnny was prompt, courteous, and thorough in evaluating need. He provided 3 options to consider. Of course all were new furnace technologies at varying price levels. Ultimately, we selected the best furnace for our immediate need. They have great financing options too! As a great example of customer service & concern for young visiting family, Johnny also had 4 awesome room heaters delivered to help with heat until the new furnace arrived. The new unit arrived 2 days later & was installed in about 5 hours. The installers were skilled & efficient and left the area clean upon leaving. Had a heater annual scheduled for a couple weeks, even shortened our vacation to be here for the 1 to 5:00 appointment. The day came and waited 1,,,2,,,3 hours and 50 minutes for a cancellation call at about 4:50. The reschedule is suprisingly in two weeks between 1 and 5,,,,, just like the first scheduled one, looks to be a pattern. Do me once, shame on you do me twice shame on me. I will say installation was great and then this. I would have taken more interest in a priority schedule for someone I just crapped on but I did already spend the money for the installation so why bother appears to be the more cost effective approach. They will call the office in front of you and make it seem like they are giving you a deal. They will also pressure you into signing right away. What they brought for us was NOT what we signed up for and when we call them, they said they are giving us a better model... NOT!!! On May 1, 2025, I came home, and my wife had said that she had someone coming over to turn down the temperature on the hot water tank. So, these 2 guys came in and asked for my wife and she took them down to the garage. They said that they couldn't touch it because the vent wasn't hooked up right and carbon monoxide was going out through the house. All they were there for is show her how to turn down the heat. They called their manager Daniel, who came in and said that since the hot water tank is 10 years old it needs to be replaced. I was in a business meeting and my wife was handling this. I got done with the meeting and they had the hot water tank all undone and they were going to get it and put it in. This time it is close to 3:00 PM. He was talking My wife into the heat pump and new hot water tank and said that we would have to pay $500.00 per month. I said for a hot water tank? He said no and a heat pump. I told him NO. He him I am not going to paying $500.00 per month and he would not stop his sales pitch. I said I will pay you for the hot water tank. He came back and said, tax and tank is $6458.37. I said what??? He said that it is maintained every year for performance. I said I have one question. Since you have the hot water tank all undone. This will be done tonight. Oh yes, this is only a 2- hour job. They will have it done by 7:30 Pm. Daniel left and the Darian and another person still was not back by close to 5:00 PM. I said the guys are not back. I need hot water tonight for showers for work. Both my daughter and I get up early. He said it was not a problem. Done by 7:30 to 8:30 PM. At 9:30 PM they said we have the install completed but it wouldn't light. They left and went back to the company. My wife woke me up and said not HOT water. I could not go to work since I start at 2:30 AM I wake up with a shower besides clean and professional for my job. I AM SO UPSET. 1. YES my wife made this agreement but not knowing the price. 2. They said that they couldn't touch the hot water tank otherwise they were responsible for its total operation. 3. We did not do any paperwork, and they had the tank unhooked 4. Promised that it would be up and running by 8:30 PM. 5. Why didn't they say we will have a qualified person come out and install tomorrow so you can have hot water tonight. There was nothing wrong with our hot water tank. This was a big Sales pitch on a woman. The next day Ryan came out and they didn't have the vent hooked up correctly. Same thing that they were saying about the person that hooked up ours before. This kind of activity is wrong, this is not customer satisfaction. When I called Daniel to let him know how upset I was. He said is one of our guys fixing it? I said yes but I couldn't go to work and my daughter couldn't shower either. He said oh well at least we are doing the work. Ryan was here and I told him. He said he would let his manager know. No one has called or followed up. I am going to report this to The Better Business. Company employees that take advantage on woman and seniors is not good for anyone. The business model for this company is not great, I won't recommend anyone that cares about cost and value to use their service. I was quoted $1408 for garbage disposal and faucet instal to a new sink if DEAR provides the garbage disposal and $1096 dollars if I supply the garbage disposal. This is outrageous pricing for a work that is no more than 5 hours. This is particular awful because this company will charge you 70 some dollars just to get an estimate ( $69+tax), and will absolutely quote you at above $200/HR. The service pro that came were nice and respectful but the company is not one I would recommend read more

Update week 3: Although I have purchased a 3-year maintenance membership, Dear Services wants me to pay to get a leak diagnosed. They always want to blame my old ducts for everything to avoid taking responsibility. They even claimed that the pressure in my system is high causing the Freon leakage, although the pressure was 4.9 and the manufacturer indicates 5 to be the highest normal pressure. I am completely disappointed and will never let those scammers in my house again. Update week 2 of the heat pump problem: I had to drive to Dear Services location and speak in person with the manager to get a technician out to check the cause of device failure. A technician came and said my ac is low in refrigerant. I kept calling all the week later asking what was next but no response. I finally got the phone number for the lead field technician who promised to talk to his manager (not sure about what) and to get back to me the same day. Of course he did not call me back. I kept calling every other day asking to speak with someone to see what to do next and nobody called me back. read more
