This issue was neglected by another contractor who had done siding work previously for me. Then he went to the hardware store himself, took photos of all of the options that fit our criteria, and texted us the options so we could choose, saving me time from having to go to the store myself. He also went above and beyond by offering to fix the opposite side of the door frame, which was ugly before the project started. We didn't even think it was an option to fix that. Cornel installed the door, painted it, and fixed the trim on both sides, on the same day. The final result is absolutely perfect. It's beautiful, and the quality is stellar. We will certainly be using Smart Construction again in the future for home projects that we can't do ourselves.

Home Improvers are great quality craftsmen, very professional and very responsive…read more The Home Improvers crew (2 guys - both of whom were very professional) installed new mounting blocks on the outside of our house for 3 new lights we purchased. The new lights were larger than the "old school" exterior lights that were on our house so they didn't fit the 4 in x 4 in mounting blocks the house was built with. I looked into installing new mounting blocks myself but quickly realized I was in over my head and that it would take me a lot longer than I expected to get the new lights installed. Fortunately, Yelp search for handymen near me connected me to Home Improvers who responded very quickly with a ballpark estimate. They came out the next day with some mounting blocks that had taken them a while to find (had to visit 3-4 home improvement stores to find them) and even those were a bit too small. So the guys *custom made* 3 mounting blocks. They securely attached the mounting blocks (perhaps even trimming the siding to ensure the fit nicely... hard to tell now that they are installed so nicely.) They also caulked and painted the mounting blocks, installed the new lights and used clear silicone around the lights to ensure they were water-tight. We'll definitely call Home Improvers again for our next home improvement items (including tile work, handyman services, etc.) They were very personable and did a high quality job.

Project 2, installed wall tile and the plumbing for the Master bathroom soaker/tub. Projects 3, cut, sanded, stained, clear coated red oak 16ft hand rail for a 15 and 16 set of stairs. His accuracy, attention to details, use of advanced tools was demonstrated with identifying one of the walls of the guest bathroom was not straight/level and he made the appropriate modifications to fix the wall before he installed the wall tiles. They wouldn't be servicing us anymore, Tanya told me, because our account had been sent to collections. Then she hung up on me. The account was sent to collections because we never received any invoice! It was paid in full immediately when we received the collections notice, and I called Automatic to apologize for the oversight and explain that we hadn't gotten any of the invoices they said they'd sent. It was the first time in all our years of doing business that we had overlooked a payment. At the time, they acted as though everything was fine, but now they were refusing service. After arranging winterization services with another company, I called back to complain about Tanya hanging up on me. I asked to speak with her manager, and she told me she was the manager. I asked her why she had hung up on me, and she replied that they were not going to service our property and she was not going to waste any more time talking to me about it. THEN SHE HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN. I want to make sure as many people as possible know what a horrible company this is to do business with. Avoid at all costs. At no time did Automatic telephone requesting payment, as Tanya claimed in her "review." I am a real (former) customer who believes others would benefit from being able to read about my real discontent without having it shunted off as a filtered review.

Additionally, they approved a trade for one of their deck installers to take my generator and 7 gas cans - all new and unused, in trade for providing and installing metal flashing under my hardy plank. The guy came two partial days - taking all $2000 worth of generator etc, and has refused to return for a year. I have have had to go to small claims court and make a police report because Tony and all employees refuse to assist with either the work or the return of new or payment.

I think a lot of people who are less experienced than Fred might have given up or would not have been able to complete the work. Fred is so creative and was able to come up with an elegant solution to each of the problems that came up during the job. He is very communicative and was clear at every step along the way. Because of these issues, the job took longer than expected but Fred made sure that it was completely correctly regardless! Not only that, he went above and beyond. He pointed out that the stop gap on my sink should face towards the sink in case of overflows, and even helped me out to take apart an ice machine bucket that I had been struggling with for weeks due to a stripped screw.
