I called Mark out to the house for a leaking shower head. Unfortunately it couldn't be fixed due to a custom MOEN cartridge needed. He took pictures and told me to call MOEN and that they should cover it due to their lifetime warranty. Mark didn't charge me anything even after I insisted on paying him for his time. We were mid-panic when I tried using my shower on a Monday morning, and the water wouldn't turn on! We did our best to see if there was an outlying water issue, and subsequently found that our washer wasn't working either. We found Good Plumber on NextDoor, and briefly talked to Mark to explain our situation and if we could get him to see what was going on. Given, it was around noon, and wasn't able to get in same-day, but he came at 9 AM the following morning (even came early!). He kindly asked for me to put on a mask due to COVID, and that was the first good impression. The second thing he said, was that he would look at the situation, test some things and see what's needed. He'll name the price at the end. After looking at both our washer and shower, we found out that both the washer and shower situations were two independent issues. After seeing that it wasn't a plumbing issue with our washer, and more of a hardware malfunction, he left us a number of his preferred appliance handyman. With the shower, he simply removed our handle, saw that it was broken, and even told me to buy the part myself (instead of him charging us for changing it himself), and how to install it. Both could've been done by him, but instead he told us what would be needed to be done and how both of them were able to be done by our own hands. On his way out, I asked him if we owed him anything, and he kindly said, "A thank you?" and was on his way. We have an issue with our water heater, we were not getting "hot enough" water. I called Beacon Plumbing, and the guy from Beacon Plumbing said our water heating tank is the problem and needs to be replaced. He gave us a quote of $2200+ price. I said okay as long as the problem is solved. He changed the tank the water was still lukewarm, he told us it gets warmer overnight. It was a lie. I called them again, the same guy came, he said the problem was the mixing valve and it needs to be replaced for $765. I called some other plumbers they were booked. I called Mark, He was some houses away from my house he came to see the problem. He gave me some good advice and adjusted the mixing valve and problem is solved. Though I am feeling as if I am exploited him he solved the problem for free. Lessons learned never ever call Beacon Plumbing and always always talk to Mark. Our water heater went out Thursday night I called The Good Plumber Friday and Mark said he could be there Saturday by 9:00 am. He was at our house by 8:45 and spent most of the day replacing our water heater. He determined our shut off valve to the heater was not shutting all the way and replace that as well with no extra charge. When he gives you a price that's what it is no extra charges. Mark showed up at exactly the promised time and got right to work. He was very respectful of our home, he wore shoe protectors and had lots of towels to mop up the water that came out of the clogged kitchen sink drain. He didn't like the way the plumbing under the sink looked, so he changed it out (added a clean out fitting) with our approval for a small charge. Mark has been nothing but helpful when I need him. I am a first time home owner so when I had my first home "emergency" about a year ago in the form of a water leak in my kitchen, I just about lost it. I didn't know who to call so I just started googling plumbers in my area. No one was available or charging an arm and a leg for short notice. A friend who was impressed with Mark Sonnenburg's honesty, fairness and workmanship passed his phone number on to us (253-804-0405). We have hired Mark twice because we are so pleased with his work. Both times he came the same day we called to make the appointment. Mark not only changed the shower/tub valve/cartridge to stop it from leaking, he added a customized rubber seal behind the cover plate. The tub's spout was also dripping and water was getting behind the wall. He not only installed a new spout, he made a copper plate to prevent water from ever getting into the wall again. The backyard hose dripped so he tightened a bolt and added a washer. Mark did not charge us for the hose issue. He is a kind plumber. He had a set price for our plumbing jobs whether they could be fixed easily or if they needed soldering. He was conscientious and cleaned up after himself. Recently I had to use the services of a plumber, third time this year. Not because anything was wrong with the previous work, just that we live in a 100 year old home. Things are bound to go wrong and plumbing isn't my forte. So how did I come to meet Mark alias Good Plumber. Early this year our hot water heater sprung a leak only I could tell it was from the water heater. I thought a pipe had burst in the crawl space. I tried calling around and couldn't get anyone to come over. My wife is an ex City of Auburn employee and worked with building permits. She remembered see Mark, though she didn't know his name and he drove a blue truck said Good Plumber. She was always impressed how polite and neat he was. We tracked down his number and he came right over. Confirmed it was the hot water heater, gave us a price and 4 hours later we had hot water. I was impressed with his work ethics and attention to detail. In August was our second go round. When turning on the outside faucet water was running along the pipe and dripping from the siding. Mark, HELP! This wasn't a crisis so we arranged a mutual time and he was early. Offered several solutions and his recommended one wasn't the most expensive. Couple of days ago my wife asked me to go into the crawl space to check on a perceived problem. Didn't see anything, so I took a look around anyway. On the other side of the house under the bathroom I saw water on the plastic. Crawled over and had my wife run some water in the tub. Water was leaking from the connection between the new plumbing and the old. The bathroom was remodeled several years ago. That plumber is no longer working under the original name and could not be located. Who you going to call, GOOD PLUMBER!! He came out the next morning and run new plumbing to replace the section of old pipe. While I had Mark over I had him check a slow draining tub on the second floor.
