OVERALL: 9.7/10. Near Labour Day 2021, I noticed that there were puddles of water in my second bathroom, and freaked out - I couldn't tell if it was from a pipe burst, a ceiling leak, or something worse. It turned out (after a lot of self-experimentation) that it was from the toilet (most likely the feed that goes into the toilet bowl itself) -- since it was from the original condo build in 2003, and this was 2021, so... I guess toilets can stop working too? In any case, I had to scramble to get someone to fix it since I was afraid the leak would affect the floor beneath me (given how terribly this building was constructed, I wouldn't be surprised if the "between floor" spaces had issues). I bought my own toilet from Home Depot (thankfully they had some toilets, but I didn't get a water-saving one like I wanted because, despite the rebate, I don't actually pay for water in my building, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), and set out to find a plumber to install it. I tried to make sure I found a local business to support, so off I went! 1) VALUE FOR MONEY: 9/10. All things considered this turned out to be the cheapest option I had, since the other quote (Joe's 2 sons plumbing) was almost double what this one was. It came out to $523 (after tax) for labour and installation (of customer-provided toilet); the cost came out to be the same for either repair or replace ($375 for an onsite visit), but I needed to also change the angle stop for an extra $100 (labour inclusive). After tax, that seemed pretty reasonable, since I didn't know how to do this myself (Eero had mentioned it was pretty easy, but if it was my first time installing a toilet... maybe I should watch first). 2) QUALITY: 10/10. So far, no further leaks. I had a smarthome leak sensor near the toilet just in case, but I moved it elsewhere in the home as I realized these guys were legit, and I'm very happy with this off my back! 3) SERVICE: 10/10. The workmanship was solid - the most impressive thing I noticed was that I didn't need to move my over-toilet shelf to accommodate the plumbing work. He simply worked around it, and installed the toilet successfully! The plumber's name was "Eero" - he was no-nonsense, and even answered some other quick questions about my hot water heater that I had concerns about. The full turnaround was only six days, from "initial contact" to "work completed" (including a site visit to give me a free quote). I contacted them on September 3rd, and they completed the work on September 9, 2021. This is the second opportunity I've had to review Green Planet and I couldn't be happier to post this. These guys have been great. I'm going through a remodel of my home and these guys came out on a Saturday to replace my water main. They just finished up with a complete re-pipe of my house to get rid of the old galvanized pipes. The service level has been great - I know that they've been busy, but they were able to work my project into the schedule and I have clean water flowing with great pressure now! I have referred these guys to other people in my neighborhood and network, and they have all been pleased. I really wish I could give Green Planet a ten-star review. I am so impressed with the initial conversations (well, e-mails) we had about a toilet problem. Because I live in a condo, I was concerned about the water running constantly. They advised me to simply turn off the water flow to the toilet until it could be repaired. The plumbers arrived precisely on time and were so pleasant, so professional and so kind to my two cats who are absolutely positive the world revolves around them. I am surprised there was enough room in the bathroom for the 2 Green Planet guys and the two cats who supervised. The guys gave me two choices: repair or replace the toilet. Both estimates seemed very reasonably priced. They fixed the problem and also gave me a quote to replace my kitchen sink which I will do sometime this summer. Here's the thing about Green Planet Plumbing; it is so apparent to me that they care about the quality of their work, they care about helping their customers and they care about being professional and kind. I finally have amazing water pressure thanks to Green Planet!! As a single Mom, I always get a bunch of quotes on home projects and Green Planet was right in line with other quotes for a full house re-pipe. I felt comfortable asking questions and the team from Green Planet was great at explaining issues and coming up with ideas. They worked hard for several days and navigated some surprises extremely well. They changed out faucets and snaked drains as needed even though that wasn't part of the planned work. I called GPP on a Tuesday to ask for the cost for a replacement toilet. Jeremiah was very cordial and knowledgeable. He was able to quote me over the phone and gave me an appt. that Thursday. The plumber, Arrow, was also cordial and professional. He wore a mask the entire time and we were thankful. He removed our old toilet, installed the new one (Toto Drake w/ elongated bowl) and even caulked a small hole in the exposed toilet downspout. He gave me a back-of-napkin quote for a full replacement of the downspout (which we'll likely go for at a later time.) The cost for a single toilet replacement was a little out of our budget (~$1,100), but it was nice having a competent plumber we could trust and not having to deal with the old toilet. Although there were some minor setbacks, there were too many days when nobody was here working, or someone was only here for a few hours. Including the delays the job was done according to Tyler. One month later see photos: Tyler, This is what has happened as a result of not filling in the dirt properly. Also you can clearly see that the seeding barely grew. I am hoping that you will fix this as it was created by your Company digging it all out. The entire area was flat and grassy before any work was done. You even commented to Richard that you were sorry about how the lawn was damaged from the equipment. Please let me know what you can do. Thanks Update: OK, Its been 5 months now and a worker just shows up here without prior notice. We've been promised this for many weeks, but this drop in stuff is very unprofessional. I guess he knew we were past the point of being patient, so he was no longer acting civil or even making eye contact when spoken to. I once again explained exactly how the fence and grounds were promised to be when the job was bid by Tyler. He just mumbled something at me and proceeded to do it his way despite the efforts of myself and my very ill husband to provide simple details to him. I can't express in words how frustrating this project has been. Like most people, we have lives to lead and expect highly paid and self promoted professionals to do as they promise and as we, the ones who write the check, need them to do the job they commit to in writing. With a very active dog who can't use our back yard for 3 months because these guys can't make a phone call or commitment to fill a dirt hole or sink a fence post properly is absurd. These guys are amazing. We had been struggling with water heater issues for months, trying to figure out what was wrong with our system causing temperature fluctuations when it finally just STOPPED producing hot water altogether (tepid or downright cold, alternating), smack in the middle of winter! We had also been dealing with terrible pipe rattling in the laundry room where the water heater is, right next to a bedroom, so that wasn't pleasant either. Called Green Planet Plumbing to come and assess the issue. Justin was very pleasant and easy to work with and when it seemed we were still having some issues after the initial fix, Jeremiah and Justin both worked to get back to us ASAP for another look. Not only did they completely fix the issue (which had other underlying causes we hadn't noticed before), but they also discovered and repaired a leak we had no idea was even there! Unfortunately I cannot recommend Green Planet for any plumbing needs. Had to hire a structural engineer after they cut several alarming sized holes in my joists, and the SE reports identified several oversized notches/holes drilled by Green Planet. So we then had to hire a contractor to come out and sister several joists they had cut into against code. They also laid a new shower pan in my bathroom and when we use it, it creaks a lot. Asked the owner if they set it in mortar like the instruction manual said to do, and he said "no, but we put spray foam under it." Pretty sure that voids my warranty with the shower pan company when cracks start to occur, as I am sure they will with all the creaking noises this pan makes when we shower. Other issues and damages arose, and while owner listened and worked with me to a degree, other plumbers have come in and said what a poor job they did and have been shocked at what they have seen. It seems like multiple issues have arisen, making me worry about what else will happen in the future. read more

Arrow and Alex just came out to help with a couple of small (but persistent) problems with our toilet and bathroom sink, and they were excellent. They ended up fixing things with less time and materials than I expected, and they left things in better shape than when they started. For example, Arrow didn't just unclog the bathroom sink, he also replaced the p-trap with wider-diameter PVC so it would be less likely to clog and easier to fix myself. He also walked me through how to do a couple of smaller fixes myself. Great work, and highly recommended. read more

We chose Green Planet as they were the first available to come out. Others were a 3-5 business days out. WIth plumbing issues, it's nice to have someone come next day! Marcus is quite knowledgeable and explains things in lamens terms. He was honest and, as others have mentioned, he provided us with tips and tricks for water/plumbing for future use! I also really appreciated that he let us do some of the manual labor (excavating out landscaping where the pipe had burst) instead of charging us to do it. They charge $69 for the estimate and that goes to your total bill. Unlike other plumbing companies they charge by the project, not by the hour. In some cases this is good (i.e. If the service work goes on way longer than you expect, you're not out more than what they quoted) but in others it's bad (how do I know that the project price is legitimate). In our case we had about a 2 hour job and the project price seemed 25% higher than what I'd expect. However, Green Planet was negotiable and provided me with a new rate. Shortly after purchasing a new home we moved in only to find that the hot water was "unreliable" at best. A long list of bizarre symptoms (hot water in some areas of the house, but not others, water pressure too low to shower, but pressure too high in the sinks, etc) left us confused, frustrated and cold. Justin and his team were able to diagnose the issue quickly and provided a comprehensive solution. The work they did was thorough and high quality. Even more important is the fact that Justin took the time to explain to two new homeowners the ins and outs of the issue. Scheduling was a breeze and Justin called personally to follow up after their quote visit to see if we had questions or concerns. When we mentioned needing time to consider due to the high cost of the (very necessary) replacement system, he provided us with a small discount. This was generous, but not necessary. The level of care and communication is the reason we will be calling him again if we ever need another plumber. read more

We called Green Planet to have our 40-gallon gas water heater replaced. The work they did looks good and I haven't experienced any issues, however I found their pricing to be $500-600 more than I would have expected for the job. Based on asking friends/co-workers on their replacement costs most ran between $1000-1300 (for normal tank replacement). When we called Green Planet we were told over the phone it would be around $1000 which was inline with my expectations. However after the installer showed up the quote was $1500 for the tank/install. Plus he recommended replacing the small pressure tank on the top for around $200. So total price was $1700 and after tax just over $1800. When we questioned the difference between his quote and the phone quote he said they were likely talking about just tank costs. Looking up the Rheem prog40s-38n rh62 model tank they installed it appears to cost around $600, so their labor install cost was about $900. This is in a 10-year old house with the tank in the garage, so there weren't any complications or modernizations that needed to happen, just a basic swap of the tanks and configuration. So if I would summarize my experience. It would be they do quality work, but seem to charge much higher than average. read more

We just purchased a house and found out the washing machine hookups were done DIY with hoses totally exposed and stapled to a wall that was previously hidden from sight. Later I found out that one of the hoses that was feeding into another hose would spray water everywhere during the wash cycle. We actually called Alki Sewer first since he was referred by a friend, but Phil, the owner, referred us to Green Planet. Justin was the head of our project and he was really down to earth and knowledgeable about his trade. There was also a nice young guy named Matt that was there most of the time as well as Luke. They all spent some time in our tiny crawlspace...bless their hearts! All very nice, respectful, quiet guys. They tore out the drywall and installed all of the washing machine hoses the correct way--inside the wall instead of stapled on it. They also installed a very fancy recessed washer hookup system that sits inside the drywall so the washer can be pushed right up against the wall :) The pipes under the sink and in the washer area also got a full upgrade. In addition they also totally fixed my leaky hose, caulked all my fixtures, extended a shower head that was too short, put in an expansion tank, and gave us seismic straps. They also did everything for the plumbing permit--including getting the permit, scheduling, setting up for the plumbing inspection, and taking down the set up for the plumbing inspection. The inspector said everything was perfect. (They also didn't add anything to the bid price except for the cost of the inspection.) Scheduling is really easy too--I called Weds, Thurs Justin draws up a bid, Mon it's done in one day. There was barely any time when the water was off--very efficient. I also like to comment that it's nice that the guy that did the bid also did the work. read more

After calling several companies these guys were able to come out TODAY! They listened to the status of what the previous plumbers said and provided a great alternative to a full replacement. They were able to unclogged by old pipes and although more money than I hoped they did a very clean and honest job. It was a good value and they were polite and gave me options. We called with a backed up sink that kept making strange gurgling noises and they were able to squeeze us in that morning. This really is as good as it gets! We are in the thick of a second story addition and home remodel, and Green Planet Plumbing has been, on numerous occasions, our saving grace! As virgin home remodelers, we had only a slight idea of how complex and involved all of the coordinating pieces were to build up and remodel down. Marcus from Green Planet came out immediately and helped us to decide what we needed, what would be nice-to-have, and what was not necessary to get our house in tip-top shape. He thoughtfully walked through our house, respectfully stated what should be different and what was left to be done, and then priced out everything from doing the bare minimum to the complete job. We needed to be out of our house for a period of time and he coordinated not only with me, but also my contractor, and explained what he'd do while we were gone. He also ensured he'd only take the final payment after we were entirely happy. They took out and put in pipes, had to bore a hole from the street to our house, uninstalled a garbage disposal, hooked up our HVAC drainage, put in a recirc pump between two hot water heaters, installed the second hot water heater, and made sure our water pressure was as it should be...and did a lot of this at no additional cost. Did I mention that our house was also spotless after their job--super helpful when everything else was under a pile of dust! The quality and comprehensive way in which Marcus did our job means we'd refer him to anybody--for any job for any reason! He prides himself on the quality of his work that makes the homeowners love what they live in. These guys are amazing. We received four estimates from different companies. Some who came out, some who didn't have time, one even charged us for the estimate and was 4x the other bids! The company we settled on, kept promising to call us back to schedule the work, and kept "forgetting". Fed up, I called Green Planet. I called at 6pm on Tuesday night, they showed up the next day at 11, it's 3pm (still Wednesday!) and our project is DONE! Shower pan install and leveling, replacing all our old brass shower pipe, moving our shower drain, and extending our shower pipe a foot. The best part? They were the second best bid we received. It's worth noting that the lowest bid never even came out before bidding. Marcus from Green Planet was a dream. Extremely hard worker, very knowledgeable, fast (considering we have a 1950's built surprise behind every wall), and most importantly a gentleman.
