For the first 6 months after signing up, things were great, and I was recommending them to others. For the past 2 months, however, service has slid downhill to the point I have ordered a Starlink dish. Beginning in December my connection become virtually unusable for 2 weeks. Very slow speeds (single digits) when it was actually working at all. Now in January we have had two multi-day, widespread outages. No adjustments are made to the bill for down time and calling tech support is a useless pursuit. I am SO done with the unreliable service. They don't seem to understand that RELIABILITY counts just as much or more than speed. It strikes me that this business or run more like someone's hobby than a real business. I also believe it is time for internet providers in this state to be regulated and forced to adhere to some minimal standards. I will be contacting legislators to have them push for having the Public Utility Commission oversee this industry. Not a happy customer this morning as we enter out 2nd day of an outage. read more

Have had Redzone for a couple years, definitely shopping around for better service. So tired of having internet issues, especially when they do maintenance or upgrades. Whenever that happens we know we will be without internet for 1-2 weeks. And during this time we make daily calls to get assistance, every time it is the same thing, running tests, gets fixed fir an hour then down again. So not only has their prices gone up quite a bit in a two year period of time, their quality has gone down. And mind you, we certainly do NOT get credit for the week or two with no internet. Especially with working from home so often, I can't afford to keep losing internet so frequent. I WILL NOT, recommend Redzone to any of my family or friends. When I get asked I tell them who we use and tell them to stay away. This customer will be leaving as soon as possible. Poor, poor, poor service. However, the techs are very nice and understanding, but that doesn't cut it when internet is needed so much in the world we live in today. read more

Tl:dr, Avoid Redzone at all costs. Spectrum and Consolidated are (surprisingly) better After having perfectly acceptable service for 3 weeks, our internet went down (no big deal, it happens). Multiple calls and 2 technician visits didn't fix the problem. We were told the whole sector we were in was down. On 2 separate occasions, I was guaranteed a call the next business day from a supervisor/manager with an update on when our service would be restored. Today, I called in, and was told that there was still no estimated repair date, and that we should consider finding a different provider. It's very surprising that Redzone is not concerned with providing the service it commits to, and does not care to retain customers. I'm shocked to say that the other providers in Maine are in fact better. I'd recommend avoiding Redzone at all cost. They'll show up to your house, put holes in your roof, then permanently discontinue service to your area in less than a month. Not worth the headache and constant broken guarantees. read more

Used to like this company, but for the last 4 months I have had better service from my cellphone's hotspot. And the last three days (01/19 - 01/21) we haven't had internet at all. This is on the heels of them "taking the servers down for maintenance", then receiving an email saying all good. Now they won't answer the phone and won't reply to emails. Don't use Redzone. Just don't, they don't deserve your money. I get they're small, but they've also had years to get their game straight. Not worth the money or the frustration. read more

I would not recommend this internet company. Our internet is spotty at best, and sometimes will not even work. After numerous complaints to the company, we were finally told by a tech that the company cannot sustain the number of wireless users that it currently has. So rather then upgrading their infrastructure, they would rather continue selling their product to more consumers. As soon as we are able, we will be switching to another company. I was extremely disappointed with the internet service provided and the lack of response from technicians. We have been with this internet company as it has passed through numerous owners, and have always had problems. Due to geographical locations we have had no other options, until recently when high speed cable lines have been run. Redzone needs to pay attention to the needs of its customers, or they may find they have none left. read more

Ordered the service online because the cable was too expensive. The next day someone came out and did the install. Only took a few minutes and everything has been running smooth as silk ever since. read more

Worst customer service ever. Our cable was cut accidentally over the winter, and we have been asking for repairs for SIX MONTHS. Daily run-around, hopeless systems, weak and ineffective customer service. Clearly could not be less committed to providing internet to our area. Other reviews tell the same story. read more

Nathan & Nick proved to be very helpful in finally getting our wifi set up. Very nice guys. The policy of making islanders return their equipment each year doesn't make sense. Once we know where to set up the box, that should be it. read more

Am I the only person with a "tree" on their property in Maine? Although the tech from @RedZone did come right out for my first install, he couldn't find a signal and told me it was because "one the towers were down" it should be back up in a few days and that someone from RedZone would be contacting me for a new install date ,I went on their page to see where there were outages for their company in Maine, it stated there were "none" , I called Redzone back the Rep that took my call said " that page isn't updated as much as it should be " it was another 3 to 5 days and after multiple calls before they sent another tech for another install , they sent the same guy , only this time he said he could not get a signal at my home and he said it was because there's a "tree" in my backyard thats blocking the signal? I didn't find it fair that according to Red zone page, their service worked with my zip code and my address Redzone, I would like to know are there any other customers from Lisbon Maine? Does their service really work here, or did I just waste about a week of my life that I'll never get back, 1 good thing was that they returned my money promptly read more

ive been with Redzone wireless for over a year now. Im always havjng issues with the internet. When I call they say someone will be in contact with me but I never hear back. I pay for service that most the time hasn't worked. Very frustrated. I even emailed and nothing back. What kind of customer service is that. Not impressed. read more

so far i have been with redzone for a little over a month. i did not see the first bill in my email and my account was shut off. i promptly called and paid the bill, and set up auto pay. now since the day i paid i have not had service. i have called all weekend and was told the engineers are working on it. the woman i talked to this morning was curt and rude. when we do have service it is often very slow or non existant. i will give them another chance but so far not impressed. read more

This company is awful! The Internet connection is so slow and many times I can't open websites. I am so fed up with this, I may change companies. read more

I really wanted to like this Business as it is a Maine based company and not one of the giant cable providers that you often hear nightmare stories about. To be brief; the internet was constantly out of service, when in service it was usually slow, it was not significantly more affordable than any of the major internet providers and the customer service (which is 24 hours a day) was very disorganized about following up with your technical issues. When I canceled my account I assumed I would get a prorated refund. One of their big sales pitches is that you are not locked into any contracts. After canceling, I called to find out about my refund and was told that it is a prepayment and not refundable. I asked in that case why my service was allowed to terminate early and the service assistant said that she would always encourage people to wait until the end of their service period to cancel. Unfortunately not all of their employees do this. In their defense they are going through infrastructure upgrades that may lead to a more consistent product. In the meantime if you are looking to cut back on your internet usage by it being frustratingly slow or simply not working, this is the company for you. read more

Seriously I have had CONTINUOUS problems with this company and when you call them with issues they make you feel at fault as though someone else wouldnt know how to handle the equipment. Their customer service is awful, short and rude. They only want money and give no fucks when it comes to their customers. The vitales should just get outta the internet business read more

I wanted to use a local company. The install was great, but the customer service and tech support was abysmal. Our IT guy wasted hours and hours, with no solution, and we cancelled after three months without even having the chance to use it. Probably OK for light residential use, but if you are a business, avoid it. read more

I want to like Redzone. It's a local company and the 4LTE wireless they provide is next generation technology. But after ten days, the jury is out. Service improved somewhat after an antenna was installed, with 5x5 reception of the signal, but it is apparent that problems remain with the capacity of the line, from the amount of jitter and latency. In the early am, before it is subjected to significant demand, speeds on the line are the advertised "up to 20mbps". But that quickly deteriorates to 2-3mbps, and sometimes the line becomes completely unusable. I am no technician, but it appears that the company may be expanding beyond the capacity of its network. That's probably not a sustainable business model. I hope to be able to amend this review in a couple of weeks to reflect a more positive view. In the meantime, caveat emptor. A month later things are no better, so I have reduced this review by a star. Upgrades to the antenna in Portland are promised in January. Until the, service is problematic. I have upgraded to the 25 Mbps service, and up speeds are higher, but down continues to be lousy in peak periods, often 1-2 Mbps. Customer service is honest, acknowledges the problem, promises better things ahead. We will see. Late February now. Redzone has added new towers in Portland, improving capacity. Still slower than advertised but things are better. Excellent customer service. So three stars. And now, at the end of March, after Redzone techs switched the outdoor antenna to capture one of the new towers, speeds are excellent, as advertised. So five stars. Bravo Redzone. Final note: in June, the Redzone signal continues to be fast and reliable, just as I had hoped. read more

I really wanted to believe in this company but have had nothing but tech issues since I signed up. They are nice when you call but I have literally have had to leave my place and go to McDonald's to use their wifi. If you call afterhours tech support cannot help you other than to tell you to unplug your modem and wait 30 seconds. I have an open ticket that I found out today HAS NO BLOODY NOTES IN IT! but I am told they are monitoring it. How can you monitor something and not write down about what you are measuring!?! This will be my 3rd weekend with limited internet. They have a great concept but not the equipment. I beleive it is mostly a traffic issue. It took me 15 minutes to watch a 3:44 minute video last night. What really sucks is that I am also paying for netflix and amazon and I cannot even watch them! I plan on asking for a refund or a credit or whatever. If I do not get that, then I will be filing a formal complaint with the Maine Public Utility COmmission. read more

I got my router the next day, and I've called them three times, talked to someone right away who was sweet, real, and helpful. Who knew a service provider could be like this? I have what I need and didn't even sell my soul to the devil. Highly recommended! read more

Best advice - stay away! 2 + years and a constant headache. Best speed is 3 Mbps. The rest of the time interment signal They simply can't deliver even a quarter of what they promise. Both customer service, reliability and speed is non existent read more

So far very unimpressed. We were set up on Friday, and that has been the only day our internet has worked ever since. We called and are told someone will call us on Tuesday to try to figure it out. Our account wasn't even in the system. Red Zone do you even have a clue as to what you're doing?? Doesn't seem like it. Save yourself the time and frustration and pick another company that has their shit together! read more

If I could give no stars I would. I have given them a year to provide the speed they said they were selling me. 1st I was promised 25 Mbs, never got it unless you were up at 2am. 2nd I was told my price was not going up ever because I was one of the 1st customers in our area, it went up $4.99 without notification. 3rd kept checking our speed and was constantly going down and just dropping out in the middle of something. I was told they were doing upgrades to the towers while the service kept getting slower and and inconsistent. I'm not from Maine and came from the west coast where we had a LTE based internet service for a decade. I do IT work at the business I work for. I told Redzone I felt there was something wrong with their equipment and wanted it replaced, they just re-aimed it into the house across the street, no change. When a person is getting 7 to 10 Mbs and a web search can take 20 to 30 minutes and times out numerous times, one could extrapolate after replacing computers and routers that it is not on my end. My opinion is not to even consider them as an internet provider, just a money taker. read more

very good customer service. Small, friendly company that doesn't shuck and jive you. Limited tech support hours compared to the borg companies, but on the other hand you talk to a human when you reach them. Pricing is quite fair. read more

I thought switching to Redzone would be more economical. I called and was told that I lived a quarter mile from the tower and should only need a device in the home. I was at work when the tech came, but my good friend was watching my child and agreed to be at my house to let them in. They drilled into my bedroom wall and put a satelite on my house. My friend says that he told the tech that I wouldn't approve of that, but he did it anyway. My home was built in 1897 and there is asbestos in the walls/under the vinyl. I called Redzone to complain, showed them the photo of what I came home to- and the blame was cast to me. They say that it was my responsibility to disclose the existence of asbestos, etc. If you're doing business in Maine and you're working on a home that clearly was built decades ago- this should be a given. I also didn't think that stating the obvious would be required since they never had permission to drill anything. Once my first month is up- I am cutting ties forever with this company. Buyer beware!!! read more

Redzone Wireless - This was what Redzone left me with in the center of my bedroom. - Internet Service Providers Near Me - Rockland, Maine

We've been paying RedZone for about 8 years for 250 kB per second connection. For about eight years they've been promising to upgrade. Once or twice a year service goes out for a week or two at a time. This summer service was broken 3 weeks, in which time we contacted them often. We were told service would be back online any day, that they were working through the weekend to get it back...... Then we got a call from RedZone telling us they have discontinued service. I believe it was Federal grant money which provided service to this rural Maine area but I suppose that's just another hand out. We are very disappointed we have no other good options. If you work for Red Zone you should find a new job, if you are a customer I recommend you seek out other options before they do the same to you, with no notice and no accountability whatsoever. read more

Joined redzone a few months ago to get away from fairpoint. It was never fast enough to play sling TV or Hulu. After mid January it seems I can't even play Netflix. It's hit or miss when the internet decides to work. Called redone to find out what was going on and was told that they can see that I have a connection so there is nothing they can do. If that's the best answer I can get then it's not good enough, I depend on my internet to be available when I need it. When it finally does work I have to watch it buffer constantly. Word of advice to any of you thinking of switching is to stay away from redone wireless. Even the slow speeds of fair point are better than them. read more

I wanted to like Redzone because they are a local alternative to the Time Warner cable juggernaut. But their service is terrible. They checked to make sure I was within their service area and went ahead and signed me up. I have had horrible, spotty, and more often than not, no service at all. They are not up to speed yet. Their customer service team is incredibly polite and friendly, but that only goes so far when they cannot provide a consistent connection. read more
