Miso Roasted Miso Avocado Sushi Roll (4 piece)
Ellie O.

Have been wanting to try this place for a while! Very small so you may have to wait for a while to order if there are no tables available. Noodles were good. I found myself wishing for another type of flavor/texture, maybe an egg or pickled onion or mushrooms? But the broth was very savory and comforting, and the ramen as a whole was delicious! Definitely will be back for more!

Excellent place!! It's a very casual restaurant with chill vibes, order at counter service. It's fully vegetarian restaurant and can cater to gluten free options which was helpful as someone with celiac disease. There are about 6 or so ramen broth options, and I've tried the miso and red hot miso. Broth was so savory and delicious. Gluten free version comes with rice noodles and without the fried toppings (fried onions). I ate from here 3 times during my 5 day Boston trip. I also brought along a bunch of carnivores and they also really enjoyed the dishes, and were interested in returning. Excellent food, and wish there was a location close to me in Houston. Look forward to going back on future trips!

The sushi was delicious, but the Ramen was kind of underwhelming. We got seated pretty quickly. The space is pretty tight. But there was something leaking from the roof which made it kind of hard to enjoy the food.

I haven't tried many vegan or vegetarian ramen dishes, but this was definitely one of the best! The flavors, textures, and combination of ingredients--plus that perfect kick that means you don't even need to ask for hot sauce (I'm sure you wouldn't even realize the food is vegan). It's a small spot, so I imagine it's not easy to get a table without waiting during peak hours. Personally, I wish it were better lit or had different lighting--it felt a bit dark for my taste--but if you want privacy and a chance to really enjoy your meal, this is the place for you.

Okay straight up, this place is getting 5 stars due to their unique approach to ramen. They keep it simple with only a set amount of variations, and they're great flavors to be honest. But throwing a cloche on top of it and adding a smokiness was a surprising add that earned the fifth star. It's clear that there's a significant following, as there's signs asking folks to depart their table after 45 minutes so they can flip the table over. So don't come expecting a leisurely meal... come to try something new and different. It's well worth it... except for the yuzu Diet Coke. While I appreciate adding citrus to coke, I've learned this is not a pairing for me despite my love of Yuzu.

Delicious vegan ramen, with less of a wait than I expected (maybe 20 minutes). The space was small (I wouldn't come with more than a group of 6, and even that would be pushing it), but the whole place smelled so good! The ordering experience was a little odd, but the food came out very quickly. I got the truffle ramen with the spicy broth, and it was very good (which was not really spicy, simply well seasoned), and quite filling. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. One of us got the non-spicy broth, and she noted that she thought the spicy broth was better (and again, not truly spicy at all), so I'd just keep that in mind when ordering. I also got the truffle mac & cheese, which I was pleasantly surprised by! It was pretty good, and came with some sort of delectable crunchies on top which I was obsessed with. I haven't had much ramen since I became vegan, so I don't really have any other vegan ramen to compare it to, but it's certainly some of the best I've had so far.

Overall, I'd rate it around a 2.5-3. A piece of me wants to try a different ramen, but also not a place I would run to. Also, rounding up to 3 because of the whole menu being catered to vegan ramen! We tried Red White Boneless Ramen after seeing the long lines outside so often, and we were glad to walk right in and grab a seat around 6:30 on a Monday (there was a line by the time we left). The staff was friendly, and the restaurant had a busy, energetic feel. We ordered the mac and cheese, Japanese curry ramen, red hot miso ramen, and spicy roasted miso avocado rolls. We definitely ordered with our stomachs when it came to the mac and cheese, and while I appreciate the vegan concept, as someone who eats and loves cheese, it just wasn't my favorite. The ramen was good overall, and portions were generous, but I was surprised by how sweet both broths were. Even with chili oil, there was still a noticeable sweetness that wasn't quite what I was expecting from ramen. The spicy roasted miso avocado rolls were probably my least favorite after the mac and cheese. They were a bit mushy in texture and also had a sweet flavor. I can see why people enjoy it, and I appreciate having a fully vegan ramen spot, but some of the flavor profiles didn't quite land with me. Glad I tried it, though.

RedWhite is a vegan Japanese restaurant on Newbury Street known for its flavorful ramen. The ambiance inside is pretty cramped and dark, plus our wait time was long. We also had to wait outside since there wasn't room inside the restaurant. Additionally, they have a policy where you must order 1 dish per person or they will not seat you. You order at the front and then are seated with a beeper to pick up your food. The menu is pretty limited, but the dishes was overall seasoned nicely. The Spicy Roasted Miso Avocado Sushi Roll was better than the roasted miso avocado sushi since the best part of the dish was the spicy crumble on top. However, the sushi was oddly sized (too big for one bite, but too small and fell apart for 2 bites). The ramen was also differently flavored. The garlic was too overpowering and the texture of the noodles to other vegetables in the dish was offputting to me. However, all the dishes were presented/plated well. I probably wouldn't go back, but it was conveniently located.

Went for ramen and we got the Japanese curry and the garlic miso. It was okay, the meat is minced/crushed? Not used to that. Service is order at the front and pick up and eat at the table. It's small and intimate and dark. Overall it was just alright. The broth didn't feel like it was very depthful. 6/10.

Came here right before it got really busy, so we got lucky and could order and get a table immediately. Inside, I wasn't expecting the darker interior ambience, but didn't mind it. It was straightforward to order at the counter, get a beeper, and wait to pick up the food. It was a bit crowded and a bit difficult to navigate through with the food, but was manageable. I got a regular yuzu sesame ramen, which I enjoyed overall. The flavor was great and I enjoyed the noodles. I did wish that it was more substantial, maybe more tofu or other add-ons without needing to add anything extra. Overall, not a bad vegan/vegetarian option if you're able to avoid a long wait!

Yum!! As two non-pork eaters we were so curious to try out a ramen shop that specializes in non-pork ramen (rather than getting the veggie/chicken option at a pork broth speciality place). This place makes you forget you're not eating meat! Everything tastes so rich and delicious. We love getting the miso ramen. Service is a bit slow I'd say and seating is only inside so it's very minimal. On a Friday night it can get quite packed. The interior is dimly lit and the tables next to you are pretty close when sitting inside. I'd probably pass on their sushi! It's a bit expensive for what it is and isn't much to write home about.

Redwhite was the best sushi I have had this year, while it seems like just 4 pieces, they're dense and heavy! Absolutely delicious though, we paired it with a No 7 Japanese Curry Ramen which was splendid too. It is a self service restaurant that has limited seating so just a heads up that you may have to wait, but trust me it's worth the wait!

After a long day checking out two museums in Cambridge, MA, my daughter and I ventured to Boston and she ended up finding REDWHITE. Coming here worked out great especially since we were in the area when the place I originally planned for had already closed. Honestly, this turned out to be such a better discovery. REDWHITE's inside is kind of wild. You walk in and it's pitch-black: walls and ceiling- except for this soft glow around. It's small, too. Like small small. Which means yes, you're lining up outside for a bit- especially on weekends. But the line moves fast. They have little signs on the walls letting you know of the 45 mins limit to eat during busy times, which at first made me do a double-take but honestly, it works. You're in, you eat, you enjoy, you go. No hard feelings. You order up front, pay and they hand you one of those buzzer/light-up things. Ours went off pretty quickly. The staff is super friendly without giving you that "please leave" energy. Even when the place is packed, they're calm and they're friendly. Even as two pescatarians, the kid and I thought this vegan ramen is freaking amazing.

As a Hakata ramen, everything is perfect. But for me, it would be even better if the chashu were a bit thicker and fattier. They have an ATM on-site but when I was there last year, it was not working. Good ambiance inside with an open kitchen, chefs working hard. I got the black garlic tonkatsu, which had a rich and garlicky broth that came with an egg, corn, julienned red onions, microgreens, and a couple pieces of charred char siu. I enjoyed the ramen, although I did not think it was the best. I think it's a very solid option for Boston's Chinatown but there are better ramen spots in Boston.

Unfortunately, rather than cha siu it felt more like braised pork belly-- it wasn't tender nor melt in your mouth but it was rather fatty and chewy. Due to the aforementioned line, we did feel kind of rushed since two servers kept coming by our table and asking if we were ready/finished when we were still eating. The food also lacked flavor, so I asked for chili sauce since it is only chili oil with almost no actual chili sauce. When I mentioned it, they said that's just how they make it. We also ordered the crispy pork for $8.99, and the portion was surprisingly small for the price. The service wasn't good either. Our bill came to about $44, and I still left a $6 tip even though I wasn't happy with the experience. Instead of thanking us, the server ( a lady) came over and complained that my tip was "just under 15%" and said their restaurant expects a minimum 15% tip and started to give a nasty attitude after!
