I was quoted an estimated total of $43.07 for a local truck rental, but after returning the truck I was charged $93.34. The charge included 24 miles and 2 gallons of gas, despite only driving 22 miles and returning the truck fueled above the full marker. When I presented my drop-off photos and fuel transaction, instead of simply correcting the bill, they offered a partial correction. They refused to remove the 2-gallon fuel charge and acted like they were doing me a favor only partially overcharging me. If you rent here document everything and do not assume that they will correct the bill willingly.

I was being told I didn't know what I knew, didn't experience what I experienced. At the end of the day, it's no skin off my nose. When I'm done with the unit, I'll leave. However, be sure to read the fine print and note all the added fees. My local rental for about 3 hours and 22 mile of driving came out to be $116.63. I made the mistake of not refueling the truck. It was late, I was tired, what can I say. I expected to pay a premium for the gas but wow was I surprised. They claimed I used 8 gallons to go those 22 miles, that's 2.75 MPG! This was their smallest truck, next up from a van, and so it would have a range of only 88 miles. Moving to Spokane, you would have to fill the tank over 3 times! In case you are wondering, I never idled the truck over about 30 seconds so all of that supposed use was driving. No, what happened here is that it was either not full when I picked it up or they rounded waaay down to 3/4 tank upon return. Add the per mile charge of $1.49 (seems cheap at first, but 22 miles equals $32.78), the required insurance of $14.00, and tax and it comes out to $116.63. I agreed to the daily charge and the per mile charge up front. What feels like a rip off is the required insurance (never mentioned) and the excessive charge for the gas. The truck itself was in good order and serviceable and really there are not a lot of other options for local small jobs like this. So, if you decide to rent here, check all the fees up front and be sure to check the gas gauge before you leave. Also, be sure to fill the tank yourself at the end.

I returned my truck to the Issaquah location with the fuel gauge above the full mark, but instead of a routine return, the woman working there came outside, looked at the gauge, and immediately started yelling at me -- escalating the interaction with so much rage it caught me completely off guard. "That is not full!" she screamed, flailing her arms in frustration. Then she shouted, "I don't have time for this sh*t!" and stormed back inside. I was stunned. All of this over something so minor -- a barely perceptible difference in the fuel needle. Her response was completely volatile and disproportionate, and I was honestly shocked by how quickly she escalated. I didn't walk away to avoid responsibility -- I left because I didn't feel safe engaging with someone that aggressive. Even if there was a misunderstanding about the fuel, no one deserves to be spoken to like that. If that's how she treats a paying customer, I can only imagine how she handles conflict in her personal life. Afterward, I was charged a Top Off Fuel fee, a $35 REFU fee, and a $20 drop-off fee, despite returning the truck to the same location. It felt like retaliation for not giving in to her tantrum. To Budget's credit, their corporate customer service team was professional and empathetic. They reviewed my concerns and issued a partial refund, which I appreciated. But the in-person experience at this location was disturbing and unacceptable. And judging by other reviews, I'm far from the only person who's had this kind of encounter at this location. It's clear this behavior is part of a pattern -- not just a bad day. Avoid this location. No one should be subjected to this kind of treatment -- especially over something so small.

Much to our surprise, the truck actually had well over 100,000 miles yet still drove like new! The truck handled extremely well and was relatively comfortable...well, as comfortable as a 26' box truck can be. Kyle made the process for the booking extremely easy and worked with us for a 7 AM quick pick-up as well as a later drop-off to meet our specific needs. We'll definitely use Ryder again and appreciate all the help and communication before, during, and after our reservation.
