Seems to get pretty busy on the weekdays. An enormous spider came down from the ceiling in the middle of my meal and about gave me a heart attack, I was freaked out for the rest of my meal after that. Food was great, service was courteous, the view of the river was a lovelier side of Pittsburgh than I'm used to . The only downside was that the restaurant's music was clashing with someone down in the marina blasting their yacht rock at the same time, so the competing music was a little over-stimulating, but I'm not sure the restaurant can do much about that. read more

Dining at Redfin Blues makes you forget you're still in Pittsburgh! The outside, riverfront seating is amazing and the perfect "getaway" close to home. The lobster roll is my favorite, but you can't go wrong with the AYCE crab legs, either! It's so relaxing and fun to eat outside on the deck at Redfin Blue. They have lots of seating outside by the water and outside under tiki-style umbrellas. They also have inside seating. We go for the water side seating. We enjoy watching the boats on the river and the boats being removed from dry dock in the building next door and guided into the water. It's so cool! The food is very good. It's fun casual food like tacos, burger, sandwiches, fish and chips, shrimp, crab cakes, and fish. Plus they have a great bar menu. Their mojito was pretty good! Went to dinner with a group of ladies from High School...we all thoroughly enjoyed our food, everything was excellent. Our server Bobby was wonderful very attentive, friendly and patient with us. Anyway, service here is iffy just as the food is. Sometimes really great and sometimes not so much. It's just all part of that boating experience that makes it fun with friends. The best bet on a warm day is one of the salads. They seem to stay consistent. The chicken caprese salad is the one I've had on multiple occasions. The drinks are pretty decent and that's more what it's about here. The blood orange martini is a good one to go with. I was so excited to try this place because it was one of the only places on the water to eat in Pittsburgh but was severely disappointed going on a random Wednesday with the service and generic food. It took us a little over an hour to get a pizza and a steak salad and with a kid on a school night, it wasn't ideal. The pizza was spicy or had a kick to it (they do have a kids menu with chicken tenders and such though) but was surprised with the heat in the regular cheese pizza. My steak salad was covered in old bay seasoning to the point I was as coughing from the dust from it, if you like old bay then this is the spot for you! Redfin Blues remains an enjoyable place for a Sunday lunch on the river. This time our party of 3 walked to the end of the island and back as we waited for our table to be ready (25-30 minutes). The waitress was busy but made sure we had what we needed. The "jerk chicken" tacos were not spicy (or really flavored at all), but the regular ribs and the lobster roll were well received. First off - scenery is amazing. This restaurant is on Washington's Landing / Herrs Island (right south of Troy Hill) and features a beautiful view of the Allegheny River when eating outside. The food itself was ok - I'd gotten tacos which had good seasoning and were cooked just fine, and the potatoes were crisp and seasoned. The service was friendly (we were the first ones there, and it fills up fast so getting in early isn't a bad idea). The cocktail and beer list was impressive, but alas, was a work lunch so couldn't. We were visiting from out of state and went to Redfin Blues. We came at a very busy time with a small group, but they got us in as quickly as possible. We stayed at the bar and had good drinks. The diverse food options were very good and service was prompt. Staff were very friendly and attentive. My disappointment came the next day when we saw there was a second charge for almost TWO HUNDRED dollars?!?! We called after the weekend and spoke to a manager. He credited us but never offered an apology nor was he very friendly about their mistake even when we spent hundreds. Every time I have come here (3yrs now), I always feel welcomed and the service has always been consistent, efficient and friendly. This last time I had the "peel and eat," fresh shrimp mmm. The dish was plentiful and shareable . The dip that was offered was a cocktail sauce with a hint of horseradish. I paired that with a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
