I have been craving wings lately, so I came in to try them out. I was seated promptly and the server (tall, really long brown hair worn down, nice smile with a laid-back hippy vibe) approached me to take my order. Initially, I requested water but changed my mind and ordered a diet coke in a ToGo cup because I never finish those things. I had to flag my server down after waiting 5-10 minutes to get it. The Diet Coke came in an 10 oz. clear cup with 5 teeny melted ice cubes floating on the surface of the drink. The server was otherwise pleasant and helpful regarding my menu selection. I ordered 5 buffalo and 5 hot honey wings. The menu says it comes with carrots and celery--apparently, it does not. They will give you some if you ask (whuh?) Just them how many. My server with the 8"bare midriff at my eye level never checked back with me after I had a few bites of my wings. Neither wing sauce/rub was crave-worthy. The problem was that the wings had been dropped in the fryer twice or 3 times to reheat when an order came in. I know for sure the owner would flip if they knew their wings are being served that way. The skin was not crispy--it was hard and desiccated like those pig's ears sold for dogs. Same color too. The joints were rock hard and easy to spit out. The chicken meat was surprisingly moist-ish, tasty and copious for a wing. The poke-y skin would have caused pain in the soft tissues if you did not carefully navigate whilst biting into said wing. In restaurants, It's customary to bring an extra plate for the bones (and the rock-like joint material in this instance). Think ribs, mussels/clams or ribs--plates for these are usually brought to the table. The hot towel is a nice touch though. Unfortunately, I was not done eating when the hot towel arrived and when I was finally ready, it had already cooled. Plates were not bussed, ToGo box not offered, nor was the Coke re-iced and topped off. I had to twist in my chair to finally find my server behind me. While she was sweet and expressive, I was never a high priority. If you come to Redbird, get a hamburger.
Updating my review because I have yet to find a better quesabirria taco in Tucson. I had them at an event and went to the restaurant to see if they made them the same way as at the event, and they sure do. The tortilla is covered with the consommé and perfectly crispy, they're loaded with meat and just the right amount of cheese. I could eat a plate of these tacos weekly. Service was great, and our food came out quickly.
It's been a year and this place is still great. The service is tops. The place is clean and bright. The food amazing. Did the queso fundito and split the Nashville sandwich. No regrets
Food was Meh, it filled a void & service was the same. No need to teturn as there are many other options to try
Absolutely delicious! We shared the elote nachos with birria. Portion was huge and flavors were on 1000. We also tried their wings. I had the chile lime dry rub and loved it and my boy friend had the honey soy ginger which were pretty good as well (I wished more ginger came through!) service was great and friendly. The server saved us from ordering a burger as well I also had the margarita on happy hour which was yummy but it was Monday and they also had martini specials. Ambiance was modern and had great vibes. Not a huge place but they also had a nice patio. Will have to be back to try more!
Came here on a date! It was okay. The layout is cramped and it's loud. The ambiance is confusing and reminds me of a Chili's but cramped and brighter. I initially ordered the loaded wings in the jerk flavor. I tried the jerk sauce before ordering which was great. However on the wings not so much. There were a few issues. 1.) I asked for the wings fried hard. When they came out room temperate, I imagine that they have wings pre-fried hard to keep up with service which is gross. Also the wings are not cooked in the sauce so although the sauce was good...the under-seasoned wings paired with the sauce made for a not so good combination. I sent everything back and went for the Nashville got chicken sandwich which was SPICY but man was it GOOOD. I would definitely order that again. My date got the harvest salad with shrimp which was okay. It has some exciting things in there but the shrimp were essentially popcorn shrimp which I think is inappropriate for a restaurant this expensive. I orders two margarita. The first was perfect but the second was off. Almost as if a blanco was used for the first and mezcal for the second. It needed to be remade. Our server Olivia was very patient and understanding throughout the dining experience. Overall would not recommend. People seem to love this place and based off the recommendations to come here I thought I would have too.
Our experience this time was good but not as fabulous as two years ago. Cocktails are good, the Mexican Street Corn was delicious, and now they encourage getting tortilla chips to eat it either, which was fun. We shared the Quesabirria, good but not nearly as good as last time, not sure what they changed. We also shared the crispy shrimp tacos which were very good. Cute, usually very busy but sometimes you can walk in & get a table. Server was good but in the past we had a couple who were really outstanding.
Drinks were solid. Food was surprisingly good, I didn't have any expectations. It was a last minute choice for dinner. The elote nachos are not to be missed and I'm not a huge nacho person. Typically, nachos have some toppings and the bottom is all chips, not here. The sauce and toppings went all the way to the bottom, they layer it in. I have never had nachos as good as these, they are the best nachos I have ever had. The corn was super sweet, spicy peppers mixed in and the queso was the creamiest. The amount of effort and dedication to the quality and flavorful toppings and sauces was insane. The Sonoran burger was excellent. Large and juicy patty with creamy cheeses and a spicy chile. The bun was soft and buttery. Overall really good burger. The shrimp tacos were my least favorite, but they were still really really good. The portion was very generous, which isn't normal for shrimp tacos. I was low-key annoyed because the waitress asked my husband if he wanted to add fries to his burger and he did. When the food arrived we realized we had ordered way too much food. The food was really good, so I'm gonna forgive her. There were only three of us and we couldn't even come close to finishing all the food. We brought the nachos back and our family ate them cold and loved them. Portions are massive. The drinks were good, not as good as the food. Their Paloma is a little bit more of their own interpretation, but light and sweet with a spicy tajin rim. The old fashion was my favorite of the group, a very solid drink. I tried a seasonal drink and it was pretty bland. The service was good, maybe too good at upselling. We will definitely be back when in town.
Food was excellent! Had Birria tacos, and they were delicious! House margarita also exceptional! Service was fast and friendly. Place is clean and has relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend for great food and drinks!
A coworker recommended this place and I'm so glad they did. Stopped in for dinner to this cozy spot. If it was warmer I'd sit on the patio. I ordered the elote nachos added chicken a side of guacamole and the BBQ burger. I split my food with a family member and I was thankful they served the burger cut! The waitress was nice and attentive, food phenomenal. I never knew i was missing these nachos in my life but they were exceptional the flavors are amazing. The nachos although piled high were layered with ingredients throughout which is perfect because the chips at the bottom matter. Every bite was better than the last. Then the burger oh my! Flavorful from the 2 patties, BBQ sauce, tangy pickles it just worked! My only complaint is the guacamole was $5 and the portion was very small. I hope to be back soon when im in town and I'm definitely getting the nachos again.
Wife and I had lunch here the other day. We started with the Elote Nachos (see photo). Jeezus, enough for 4 people and nicely done. I liked the sweetness of the peppers. I was too full after eating way too many nachos, so opted for a small order of the classic wings. The spice level was nice, and they were crispy, the way I like them. The one negative: the blue cheese sauce was way too watery and didn't stick to anything you dipped in it. My wife had the Harvest salad, which she really enjoyed, but after the nachos she couldn't finish it. Service was great - very cheery and upbeat. The interior is pleasant but a little loud - might want to sit outside if you want to carry on a lengthy conversation. The burgers going by our table looked wonderful. Next time!!
Decided to give this place a try since it had such high reviews. It was very busy and loud when we arrived. We were seated quickly and order taken promptly. This place has typical bar food. Nothing special and doesn't help when you never see your waitress other than taking your order and bring the check. We will not be back as the experience and food were not worth the money. Much better options in the area.

We found this place on Yelp, as always now, looking for Mac 'n' Cheese for the little. The other food looked good, so why not? Immediately, the staff was welcoming and nice. The location is small, but it was busy, with only a few tables left available. We were sat with our menus to look over, they have a very cute kids meal with crayons. Our server, David, promptly arrived to get drink orders. He also asked if we wanted any appetizers or if we wanted to get our son's order in first so it came out sooner. Appreciated that. We ordered the chips and salsa with guac, and my son's macaroni. Bonus points that he asked if we wanted straws for our waters instead of just leaving them on the table. The chips and salsa was stellar. The salsa verde (medium) and spicy roja (hot) were my favorites, but they're all very flavorful. The guac was also good. We lamented that it felt like there weren't enough chips, but David swung by with a perfectly timed chip refill. Amazing. For food, I ordered the Cobb Salad, and my husband got the Sonoran Burger. The Cobb salad was great. Sweet peppers, perfectly cooked bacon, sharp cheddar cheese cubes, and delicious ranch dressing. My husband said his burger was very good as well. At the end, they even brought us warm wet towels to clean our hands! The cocktails looked good, and I'm sad my day's plans didn't include a drink. Overall, a great experience. I'd come back here... if I lived here. read more

The location is great but the parking lot can get very crowded. The servers were very friendly and attentive, and the food was good. The Mexican Candy Martini was very yummy, the waffle fries were pretty good, and the grilled chicken sandwich was yumm. I would go back, and the only reason I gave it them 4 stars is because I have had better sandwiches with fries included in the price. I know this is a common trend anymore but yeah include a side in the price. I will be back to try a few more items. read more

Hi Karen, thanks for coming in and for the great review! Love that…
Absolutely phenomenal! From the food to the service and everything in between. It is clear that they are a true scratch kitchen, as the dishes and drinks were fresh and busting with flavor. When the hostess took me to my seat, she recommended the elote nachos. I decided to give them a try and was absolutely blown away. The sheer volume of toppings was impressive, but the fact it all came together with so much flavor kept me from ordering an entree. I paired it with their mocktail mule and I loved every sip of that drink. The fruit garnish was a nice touch, but I'm really a sucker for ginger beer. I asked the waitress if the bread pudding was worth getting and she gave it high reviews, so I gave it a shot. The bread was so moist and the icing was very creamy. I loved the Cinnamon Toast Crunch on top to give it another texture element. I was able to watch some sports on the bar tvs as well, making it an all around wonderful experience. This place is a must visit if you're in the Tucson area! read more

Redbird Scratch Kitchen + Bar has quickly become one of my go-to spots in Tucson for elevated comfort food with a creative twist. You can really taste the difference in their scratch-made approach--everything feels thoughtfully prepared, from the fresh, locally sourced buns to the perfectly cooked chicken and flavorful house-made sauces. I especially love their commitment to quality ingredients like pasture-raised eggs and NAE chicken. The vibe is welcoming and laid-back, making it a great spot whether you're grabbing dinner with friends or enjoying a casual date night. The craft cocktails are reason enough to visit--each one is a standout, but I highly recommend the Gold Grade Martini with its fresh pineapple infusion and the dramatic smoked Old Fashioned served table-side. If you can swing it, stop by on Tacos & Tequila Tuesday for awesome deals on tacos and margaritas; it's the perfect midweek treat. Between the delicious food, inventive drinks, and friendly service, Redbird is a true gem that keeps me coming back. Read the full write up on Casa Saguaro's website! read more
Thoroughly enjoyed it! Great service! The menu has stuff to eat. Had Queso Fundido melted Oaxacan cheese, roasted green chiles & corn, with your choice of chorizo or onion jam mushrooms, served with flour tortillas and salsa trio. Very good! I would eat it again. Early Bird Burger thick-cut bacon, pasture-raised fried egg, crispy waffle fries, American cheese, Redbird sauce, lettuce, tomato. Asked for waffle fries on the side. A type of "double" smash burger with nice crust or char. Whatever you want to call it. Very good. Starters, tacos, salads, burgers, cocktails, etc. good flavor. read more

Dropped in for happy hour (3-6p) and ordered an Old Fashioned (just $6, normally $13, but the whisky is a little bit cheaper than the full priced version). It came with an unexpected fire show too! Also ordered the Queso Fundido with chorizo -$2 off, the garlic pretzels -$2 off, and the chicken tacos -$2 off. All were outstanding except for the tacos. The chicken was meager in quantity and bordering on dry. The Old Fashioned had a Smokey flavor (naturally) and was actually quite strong. Atmosphere is nice, though expect to shout to be heard. Staff is super friendly and attentive. And bathrooms are elegant and clean. Parking can be tight but there's plenty in this large strip mall. We plan to return to try one of their entree burgers which is their staple. read more

Hi Mike, thanks for giving us a try and for sharing your experience!…
contemporary restaurant the focuses on food that modern young people enjoy. Smash burgers, wings and street tacos all Made in house with a contemporary flare. I have been twice. There bathrooms were clean and they also have a nice seating area indoors and out doors. The service was fast and efficient. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The parking is easy and plentiful. I'm sure the place can be very busy and parking might be a hassle. That just means it's good. When I was talking with the bartender and the manager, I found that they used local ingredients and try to source local meats when ever possible. I went twice for a late lunch and it wasn't that crowded but I'm sure during regular times it would be. I had street tacos 1 time and a burger. The other time and I had a craft cocktail. I had a Manhattan, one time and a Margarita 1 time, everything was delicious and good. A great fun place to explore. read more

We love this hip, fun and delicious restaurant! Most recently we were there on a busy Friday night but we had made a reservation and were seated right away. Service was TOP NOTCH. Portions are large, fresh and tasty. The green chile waffle fries are living rent free in my dreams now. Wow they were SO good. And the taco salad was crisp and wonderful. We added fried chicken pieces on top and it was a delightful meal. We will be back again on our next visit to Oro Valley. read more

Absolutely amazing experience! Who ever came up with the menu is an absolute genius. Nothing is one note. Every bite is layers of flavors. The perfect balance in every dish. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart. Clean, festive, and fun. Perfect for a date night or a family dinner. I would highly recommend!! The hot towel to clean your hands after wings is an absolute class act. P.S. Not pictured was a Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Ghost Pepper Wings, and Honey Hot winga read more

While visiting Tucson we decided to eat at Redbird. What an excellent choice it was. We had Carmen with the great haircut as our server. She was so good I would consider voting for her as governor of the state of Arizona. The nachos were the best nachos I've ever had and washed it down with a Shirley T. Thank you Governor Carmen and thank you redbird. A desert oasis. read more

The ambiance feels average and the place is clean. Service leaves room for improvement. Our appetizer came out 2 minutes before the meal and refills were not offered until we were finished our meal. The food could use more seasoning because the flavors fell flat. I hope this experience is a one off and I'd be open to trying again, maybe not on a weekend. read more

This place was awesome! I've been wanting to try it and happened to be on this side of town so I went for dinner. I ordered the Nashville Arizona chicken sandwich and street corn. My date had the buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. These portions are HUGE! Food tastes great and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. Waiter was very attentive and at the end they provided hot towels to clean our hands which really elevated the experience. Will be back!! read more

Holy cow. Y'all are missing out if you haven't tried this place yet!! Not only do I LOVE the location (the NW side desperately needs more options) but their food was FANTASTIC! First, we got the Garlic Confit Pretzels for our appetizer. They were so soft and fluffy and the cheese had the perfect amount of heat to it without being spicy. It also comes with mustard (which I usually don't care for, but this one was pretty tasty). For our entrees, I decided on the Elote loaded wings and my husband chose the Red Birds Classic (he added a fried egg). These wings were INSANE! They were cooked to perfection. The burger was so juicy and full of flavor! Oh and the cocktails.... I love anything with honey and lemon so I had to try the Bird & Bee. It was so adorable (and delicious). Our server was great, very attentive and had a lot of great recommendations for us! We will 100% be coming back here. read more
