This is definitely our go-to place when we can't decide for sure where to go, or what we want. I have NEVER had a bad meal there, and we eat the eat least two or three times a month. Their enchiladas are AMAZING! Great for breakfast, lunch, or supper! Rarely a wait (except Saturday mornings), but it's never a long one. I stopped in here on my way to ABQ! The facilities are what they are, but the food was great. The Waitress I had was extremely quick and very Pleasant! They didn't have what I wanted on the menu, so I was accommodated with two eggs, hash browns, chorizo and tortillas! I think the food came within 5 min after being ordered! This is an average cafe. It has a good selection but some of the portions are just bad. The pork chops are so thin that they might was well be paper. The chicken fried stake is pre breaded. The food is always hot & my order is usually correct. Their breakfast is great! read more

Had Sunday breakfast here while visiting my son at Tech. I highly recommend the Red Zone Breakfast Burrito. Great combination of eggs, veggies, and sausage. It was a bit busy, but the waitress was a delight and the service was fast. The owner was there hustling right along with the staff, also with a big smile. read more

Total Diner....Totally Great. If you are expecting a 5 star eatery...stay away...if you want great service, go with the flow, hang with the locals and enjoy a blue plate special....go forth and conquer. I had grilled chiken with the Veggie of the Day, mashed taters, plus a cup of Chicken Gumbo...all was wonderful. I like my mashed taters with a little more of the skins and lumpier but hey that is just me...this is straight up out of the scooper with the rounded top b.c they were done with the ice cream spoon hahaha. Service is friendly and everyone knows everyone. I did not see anyone smoking or ashtrays on the tables so that was a plus for me. Parking is a little tricky. They also have a drive thru. Prices you cannot beat! Easy location too. Support your local community...do not eat at the chain places. read more

Great service despite the fact that the place was packed. It is nice to go to a place where employees seem to actually enjoy what they are doing! The food was very good. I had the chicken fried steak; tender, great breading, the gravy was top notch and the mashed potatoes and green beans were very good. For under $7 this was an excellent value. As we were preparing to leave the Lone Star State, my Sis in law told us to hit this place for breakfast. What a fabulous suggestion! The place was packed at 7am! I mean, cops, public works people, construction people. You name it, if they had to be up early, they were here! And I know exactly why, the food. It was fresh and fantastic. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and the bacon was not burned to a crisp like other places. Mu husband and his bro each had 3eggs over hard with potatos and sausage. It just seemed like alot of food to me. I had the pancakes and bacon and was perfectly happy. The menu isn't very varied for breakfast, but since the food gets to you piping hot, that's fine by me. The kicker, &23 for 3 people for breakfast! Can't beat that! read more

Went to Red Zone Cafe on a very busy saturday but we were still seated very fast! The staff was very friendly and hardworking!We were asked every so often if everything was okay. The atmosphere of the crowd was very good because of the service! Would Recommend to go over and try! read more

While in Lubbock for graduation the Red Zone Cafe was recommended to us. We absolutely loved it! The owner welcomed us and recommended the Ham Steak (excellent choice) and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful! We would love to visit again. Good breakfast food for way cheap. A couple can eat for $13, and that would be spendy. My husband gets a burrito that is less than $2 and I load up on coffee and an omelet or French toast or a migas-style breakfast with beans and tortillas. Good people-watching of the local farmers and their wives, and just West Texas People. I love it. It is one of the more authentic experiences of true Lubbock if you are here to go to Tech and live mostly in the Tech bubble. :) What's not to love? read more

Been calling in Lubbock for years and finally tripped across this place. Just wanted a diner breakfast. I got that and a whole lot of hospitality on top of it. I had a basic breakfast and it was excellent, but Marcel (the sweet lady that took care of me) made the experience fun. She explained all the options and was just super pleasant to visit with. This place has gone down hill since the new owner took over. The service is slow and your food doesn't come out at the same time. People shouldn't have to wait 10 minutes for their door to come out while everyone else at your table is eating. I remember when Saturday nights were packed and now at 730 pm there's 6 tables occupied. Spanish rice shouldn't be crispy and the beans taste like they came out of a can. Saw a couple come in and wait for service while the waitresses stood around talking. The couple eventually walked out. Very disappointing. read more

Fantastic comfort food, they even took kindly to an Aggie here :). Definitely a hot spot for locals, we visited on a Friday evening (non) home game weekend and it was busy but didn't have to wait. The wait staff and chicken fried steak were fantastic. Lots of cool TTU memorabilia on the walls.
