l I wouldn't eat here again if it was the last restaurant on Earth and the apocalypse menu was free. This place is a crime scene disguised as a restaurant. From the moment I stepped in, I felt like I'd entered the waiting room of hell -- sticky floors, a smell that could legally be classified as an attack, and staff who looked like they'd lost a bet to be there. The host greeted us (and by greeted, I mean stared blankly until I said "hi" first) before leading us to a table that might've been wiped down sometime before the pandemic. The table rocked so violently I thought I was dining on a small boat. Our server appeared 20 minutes later, clearly in the middle of a personal crisis, holding a notepad like it was the last thing tethering them to reality. I asked for water. It took three tries and it still tasted like a wet penny. The food? I've seen better meals in high school cafeterias and prison documentaries. My "burger" looked like it had been run over and then reassembled with glue. The fries were somehow cold and greasy at the same time -- a scientific achievement, really. The only thing that arrived fast was the check, which was shocking considering how allergic everyone seemed to doing their jobs. I left hungry, broke, and questioning every decision that led me to that table. This wasn't a dining experience -- it was a social experiment to see how long a person can suffer before walking out. If Gordon Ramsay ever visited, he'd spontaneously combust. Zero stars. Negative stars. Burn it down and start over as a parking lot. 0/5 if i could rate it lower u would read more

Best Tapas I've had in the city so far!! Came here after work for a pal's bday since we heard so much about it! I was the first one of the party to arrive and the first thing I noticed was the ambiance of the restaurant. I love the abundance of natural light that seeped throughout the restaurant. The inside is a good size but there's lots of seating inside also! The service at the restaurant was great! When I arrived, I was the first one of my party. since my table was not ready, the host let me sit at the bar to order drinks! The bartender at the bar was great, attentive and quick with getting what I wanted out before the rest of my party arrived. Since I was feeling tropical, I decided to order the Baycation to start. I felt like this was my overall experience of the service here at the restaurant: friendly, quick and attentive! I waited around 5 minutes for my table (for 8 people) to be ready. Once seated I drank my Baycation and it was delicious and exactly what I needed! It had a tropical twist to it which I enjoyed. Once everyone from my party arrived I ordered the following and here are my thoughts on each: Patatas Bravas: 9/10! I loved the way it was crunchy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside! Mac and Cheese: 9/10 As a southerner I've been on the hunt to try Mac and Cheese that can be comparable to the south and this may be the closest I'll get to it! It was nice, cheesy and melted in my mouth. Flatbread: This was the star of the show! 1000/10. This was unexpectedly my favorite thing on the menu! I loved the taste of the ingredients together. I ended up ordering a second one to-go because of how good it was! Overall, I enjoyed my time at this restaurant and I will be back again! read more

When they tell you to get the patatas... get them. I have been wanting to come here for a while and was finally able to make it for their breakfast on Saturday. The decor is very fun, tons to look at and really great service. It got tons of help with the menu as a first timer and everything I had was really good! The egg boccadillo was really delicious and super filling. I took the 2nd half home and it was just as good warmed up later. I loved how fresh the bread was as well. I would absolutely get it again. Yes, the bravas are worth they hype! The presentation is beautiful. The sauces just add some great dimension to the dish and the style of cut of the potatoes just brings the whole dish together wonderfully. I could go just for that and drinks and be good. Looking forward to the next visit read more

Just a fantastic night! Got welcomed with open arms by the hostess who had an infectiously great mood then followed up by the friendliest service I've had in a while! The food was amazing, and the drinks are to die for! I recommend everyone come here for an amazing dinner experience. read more

I looove Red Window! Food, service, and ambiance are all excellent. For three people, we ordered - Spicy Strozzapretti Pasta: definitely add the crispy chicken!! - Octopus - Roasted Spice Cauliflower - Patatas Bravas We all felt sufficiently full with enough room for dessert, but I think we could have done 5. Everything was so so delicious. The cauliflower was a surprising standout for me! With the white beans and salsa verde on top it was a perfect bite. I would order everything we got again though. I first visited around Christmas time when my friends and I were looking for somewhere fun to have a festive dinner. I'm so glad we ended up here! Although the food menu was the same as standard, they had fun holiday drinks and decor inside. Sometimes I walk by and there's live music going on outside during the day - seems like such a fun time! read more

I would come here just for the patatas bravas alone, although the rest of the menu is quite impressive as well. The patatas are some of the best I have ever had. They're made up of thin layers of potato, and are perfectly crispy on the outside. Definitely get them. They also have some delicious drinks, and a fun and lively atmosphere. 10/10 place for date nights. Also found out today they have amazing brunch! The cutest spot in north beach. I've walked by it multiple times and one time the cocktails caught my eye and had been wanting to go since. I checked on Yelp prior and noticed they had a picture of the abuelita chocolate grandma on one of the drinks and said "let's go!" We went there on a Thursday afternoon and there were tables available. The host sat us down on the back side where the "little red window" is located and our table was next tot he flashing lights on the ground. We ordered the abuelita sour drink and the red window cobbler. Disclaimer: the abuelita sour cocktail is not a hot chocolate based drink. I had posted it on my Instagram and all of my friends thought it was a abuelita chocolate drink. It simply has a rice paper image of her on the drink but the drink itself is pretty good. It's a sour, but not necessarily sour, sweet and simple. I recommend you drink the red window cobbler as it contains a good amount of ice and waters down if sitting out for too long. We also ordered 2 jamon croquets, 1 veal/beef croquet, Gilda (anchovy, pepper and olive) - which was really spicy if you're into that and patatas bravas w/ bravas sauce and aioli that were okay. I would definitely recommend for cocktails. read more

Came here the other day for drinks and was happily surprised to see it decorated for the holidays and a holiday drink menu with festive glasses. The cocktails were delicious and and had many options. We got the patatas bravas, wings, and meatballs. The patatas bravas are the best and love the crispy edges. The wings had great flavor, not greasy, and with a crispy batter. The sauce for the wings was also tasty and paired well. The meatballs were tender and moist with a couple pieces of bread. Previously I'd tried other dishes and happy with everything! We didn't have a reservation this time and we're able to be seated right away. Servers were friendly and loved the festive outfits that we saw too. Amazing holiday drinks! The holiday shots spectacular, service was great and I love holiday decoration with the live music outside. Worth the trip. Brunch menu was good but honestly need a little more meat options. Besides smoked salmon, chicken sausage and the pork hash it was very vegetarian friendly if that's what you're looking for. I'm Brazilian so I would appreciate a little more Spanish ham and red meat options. Experience was great though and and drinks phenomenal read more

Special players, special chefs, special times. A truly fantastic experience filled with flavor. It is definitely a tapas style dining experience. I didn't even look at the menu to be honest, someone in our party ordered everything and I think we had a little taste of everything chef was making. Everything was fantastic. We sat out side for an authentic street exp, wasn't too cold either with the heat lamp on our buns. Compliments to the chef and their staff. read more

Red Window - No idea what we ate, but we ate it all - Cocktail Bars Near Me - San Francisco, California

Approachable cocktails in quite a chill environment. Lots of space in between tables (indoor and outdoor dining is open for reservations) Well behaved four legged friends seemed to be welcome outside with water in a petbowl while you sip on your low abv "summery" cocktails. Quite nice for fans of day-drinking.. which I partake on some days. Tapas seemed to be on the pricier side and is charged per piece, but everything had good temperature and tasted good. Ordered the Fried Mushroom (3/5pts), Jamon Croquette (4/5pts), and Oxtail Crostini (3.5/5pts). Ask for the empanadas menu which is a good deal.. (except need to pay extra for the chimichurri sauce) - Potato Chorizo (4/5pts) Beef Empanada (4/5pts) Total came out to be around $100/2pax for lunch with a drink each. read more

Really cool new tapas spot with interesting low proof cocktails and some great bites. Don't miss: jamon iberico, crispy meatball and jamon croquetas, chilled octopus, and patatas bravas. The pork shank was also impressive. The sucker punch cocktail was delicious and came with a fun little surprise. Also good: The gambas were solid but not super memorable. Same goes for the queso fundido, didn't regret having it on the table but wasn't a star. Skippable: didn't love the salt cod croquetas and the paella croquetas were a bit bland sadly. Still a winner overall and easy to recommend for a date or group. read more

The cocktails are NOT real cocktails, they are "low proof" and they are terrible. The menu does not make this clear at all. Why tease me with a menu that says "cocktail menu" and does not say anywhere on said menu that the spirits are "low proof"? The menu uses the abbreviation "lp" which I've never heard of. The food was barely warm and mediocre, even though the restaurant was not very busy. It should have been piping hot. The positives about this experience were the server who was super friendly, nice and accommodating, and the outdoor seating which is cute and the heaters work really well. read more

First time- and it did not disappoint. The food tastes just as good as it looks in the pics FYI. The techniques are there, flavor makes you take a moment and ponder what's going on in your mouth- this is always what I strive for when dining out; the unique presentation is visually stimulating as well; and service is great. I went w a group of 5 and we ordered everything pictured; about 50/person so not terribly pricey. read more

The first time I went here I was partaking in a healthy dose of day drinking and stumbled upon the Little Red Window. I ordered the Spicy Cucumber Margarita, and it was amazing. The drink was dressed up nicely and had just the right amount of Tajin to give it a nice kick. I could chug this like water if it didn't have the inebriating effects on me. The second time I went to the Red Window, I helped myself to the Matador Spritz. This was once again phenomenal, the peppercorn added some spice to the drink and the drink was very much well rounded in flavor. My friends ordered the Spanish 75 and the Abuelita Sour. The Spanish 75 was all around good, and the Abuelita Sour was good if you're okay with a prominent banana and egg white flavor. We also ordered food, I was told the Pork Hash was great from some friends we were with, and I had the Spanish Kale Caesar Salad as well as the Patatas Bravas. The Kale Caesar had a wonderful salad dressing spread evenly throughout, as well as a soft layer of parmesan cheese that garnished the salad perfectly. The Patatas Bravas was super good, the thin slices on the potatoes were seasoned so well, and there was nothing left on my plate by the end of the meal. Overall, the ambiance was phenomenal, a little bit weird service, but the live music added to the vibe of the outdoor seating, and lets face it the painted wall is remarkable and renown throughout the city. If I were to choose one place to bring a visiting friend, I would bring them here for sure, I know we will be satisfied. read more

We came by while they had a holiday cocktail menu so can't speak to the normal menu but their drinks were fun and creative. We tried a few tapas - meatballs, potato's, wings, which were all really good. Service was some of the best I've had in awhile, what a treat! Beautifully adorned tapas restaurant in North Beach with prime outdoor seating and a lovely interior! I came with a party of 4, so we were able to order a variety of plates (would recommend y'all do the same :,) We started off with two drinks: the Girabaldi 2.0 (a cocktail that was soo foamy and light; barely tasted the alcohol) and the rose of pinot noir. For the 4 of us, we ordered three tapas and two larger plates: Chicken sausage skewer: GET THIS I implore you please. Juicy and crispy and flavorful. Easily my favorite dish of the meal. Patatas bravas: prepared so unconventionally but it looked (and tasted) beautiful. The potatoes were crispy and its sauce was 10/10. Beet salad: light, but the Manchego added some creaminess. Get this to add some veg to your meal! Arroz caldoso: rice with chicken, shrimp, beans, and peas. I had high expectations for this, but it was unfortunately quite bland and watery. It tasted like porridge to me--comforting but not worth $20+. Arroz meldoso: vegetarian rice dish! Surprisingly enjoyed this more than the caldoso, as it was much more well-seasoned and fragrant. Definitely going to recommend this place to my friends. So glad I was able to try it out :) read more

I've enjoyed coming to the Red Window in the past, so as the weather has warmed up, I thought it'd be a great place to dine outside. But our most recent visit fell below expectations, and I don't think we'll return. Firstly, we were surrounded by tables of people who weren't even dining at the restaurant. Everyone in our immediate vicinity was eating gelato from next door's Lush, and while I do love that spot, I did not love how noisy and messy our company was. The table of gentlemen next to us left shards of ice cream cone everywhere, and the staff let them be. We can disregard this if it's actually a shared space (which it isn't, as far as I know) but while I understand to not want staff to be confronting people and policing who is actually dining with them, it's another story when the experience of actual patrons is impacted. And speaking of staff, service on a late Saturday afternoon was peculiarly slow. Most of the tables inside and out did not have guests (who were eating at Red Window) so we were surprised with how long it took to finally order food. We also wanted to order the octopus, which our server said she would need to check if they had any in stock. That was totally fine with us, until we found out there was no octopus left when we received the rest of our meal. While she was nice and welcoming, I felt the overall experience was inefficient and slow. Lastly, the food in our visit was also subpar. In addition to some drinks, which thankfully haven't changed, we ordered the cauliflower croquettes, Brussel sprouts, and blooming mushroom. Sadly the flavorless cauliflower croquettes do not retain shape and become difficult to eat, and the blooming mushroom had a piece of lint trapped within its crags. I might've been tempted to send it back and order another, had service not been so slow and it already being so dry. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. read more

We sat at the bar Geo was courteous and engaging! Food was very good. Sangria excellent!

What a delight for the senses! The ample outdoor seating, friendly service, and awesome North Beach vibe was perfect for a Friday night. Loved the cocktails--so well balanced and well worth the $15, especially the very refreshing Garibaldi 2.0 and the Fancy Things, which was so unique with its honeydew, basil, and olive oil combo. The food, too, was fabulously presented, taste was excellent, especially the arroz melosa and the chicken sausage skewers. The patatas bravas were such a beautiful dish, with tender-crisp potatoes with a delicious sauce. The only thing we weren't super into were the albondigas, which were mushy and tasted of flour. The sauce they came in was excellent, though. Overall, great experience. Would highly recommend for a casual date or Friday cocktail with friends. read more

Came here for a drink and appetizer on a Friday early evening and left extremely pleased! This small space is vivacious and colorful, with a notable/instagrammable window (probably the best table in the house) and an exciting bar area that we enjoyed sitting at. The staff were attentive and nice. Onto the real reason I will come back when I visit again ... Patatas Bravas were to die for! Wanted to love this place but unfortunately it fell flat. Tried a few different items and the best things were the queso fundido and the cheesecake. Unfortunately the gambas were lacking flavor, and the croquettes were extremely starchy. The patatas bravas were ok-but hard to mess up potatoes. We had a 5pm reservation and closed out around 7pm. We were rudely told by a stout woman in an ugly hat to leave because they had other reservations. Needless to say this could have been handled appropriately. Our server was also less than friendly and never thanked us despite how polite we were. A wonderful addition to the neighborhood and much needed alternative to Italian spots everywhere. Every dish we ordered was very flavorful and well-executed. Our waiters were extremely friendly and were thoughtful about how they checked in with us. We were lucky to get the back corner seat by the window away from the crowd bustle and in our own private space. We ordered: Croquetas - loved the paella one the most, the cheese and jamón also tasty. The crispy beef meatball was also good but we both preferred the others Roasted carrots - tender, salsa verde was off the charts good, picked onion contrast a delight and loved that they used "ugly" produce Patatas bravas - exceptional compared to most other versions from other tapas spots. They were made with thin layers of potato formed into a big cube, perfectly crispy but soft and moist on the inside. Tasted almost like a hash brown and plated on top of drizzled lightly sauces. Pork shank with beans - delightful; the beans were so flavorful with wine and fresh herbs and the crispy pork was tender and slow-cooked underneath. It's a big dish, meant to be shared. Their cocktails are all wine-based, so they don't have a full bar. We opted for a bottle of wine, but all the cocktails looked great and most tables imbibed with them. My only complaint is that they were out of the beets salad and, aside from the carrots there was no other vegetable option that wasn't bathed in carbs (rice or crostini). It would be great if there was more than one salad option, especially with so much rich and heavier tapas the contrast of acidity and brightness is key. We'll be back for sure! read more

Good ambiance in a fun neighborhood. That said, the food was average. I got the patatas bravas, brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese. The patatas bravas was okay just what you'd expect/nothing special. Brussel sprouts were overcooked/too mushy and very sour (maybe lemony?) and Mac and cheese was good but nothing elevated. I also got an espresso martini and an old fashioned.
