Really cute date night spot that take reservations and has fast service. Got a bunch of apps and of course sangria. The standout was the patatas brava in which each layer of potato was thinly sliced and fried to perfection, rather than one giant chunk of fried potato. I really liked the octopus salad as it was refreshing. Blooming mushroom was a bit too dry/ over fried (?) but I liked how it was greasy like you'd expect to be. Overall would come back to try their pastas and for casual gatherings too! read more

The best spot for patatas bravas and if you don't know what that is, come here and try it! O R D E R E D - Beef and Pork Meatballs - BLT Croissant - Patatas Bravas [MUST GET!!!] - Bloody Orange Spritzer - Coconut Mojito V E R D I C T What influenced me to come here was seeing pictures of their patatas bravas! It's so flakey and buttery and tasty and I just had to eat it. I can eat these all day long. They're not bite sized and they come in an order of 8. It doesn't feel heavy to eat. It's a fun spot to grab brunch on the weekends or on a nice sunny day. Parking might be easy or hard, depending when you come but I will say we got super lucky and parked 1 block away and there was this awesome guy stopping traffic for us so we can park. Just saying, if you come on a hot Indian summer day - the windows are opened because there's no AC so just a warning to ORDER MORE DRINKS haha read more

Customers beware: even if you have written confirmation of your reservation, don't expect them to honor it and don't expect them to try to correct the issue or make up for it in a meaningful way. I had written confirmation of a table for 4 At 19:30 - INDOORS. We chose indoor seating because it was a cold and breezy night. When we arrived, we were seated on the "heated" outdoor patio with doors to keep out the draft. I told them we had an indoor reservation. I was told "Oh. We have two reservation systems. The indoor seating filled up on the other system we have so we can only seat you outside". Again, they did not apologize and they made no effort whatsoever to correct the issue or recover. We were seated outside. It was uncomfortably cold. The heaters were not on. They did not keep the patio doors closed. The constant wind and breeze from passing cars was frigid. The sound of the street traffic and sidewalk traffic was deafening. I had family visiting from out of state. I could have taken them anywhere. I brought them here for its ambiance. The food was delicious but it could not have been a less enjoyable experience in every other way. And I realize this could've happened anywhere but it was unfortunate timing: a 12-top was seated next to us mid-meal. They were drunk upon arrival and were yelling so loudly we couldn't hear one another at our own table. I asked to speak to the manager about the reservation issue. I was offered a whopping 5% discount on our meal and told "there is nothing else I (FOH manager) can do." Anyone who has ever worked in service knows this is nonsense. I will NEVER come back to this restaurant. They did not deliver what was promised to us in writing, and failed at every opportunity to make it right. I'm so disappointed. read more

The patatas bravas are the best! I've had them at other restaurants in SF and they just don't compare. I liked their cauliflower croquettes as well. Both sauces that it came with were unique and fun. We weren't big fans of the pasta though. We tried the spicy strozzapretti pasta arabiata (which really isn't spicy) with chicken. The texture of the pasta was a bit odd, and the sauce was pretty boring. The fried chicken was dry and dull on the palette. Pretty unfortunate considering that was our main dish of the night. read more

We attempted to order food to go at the to go window, but the hostess informed us we couldn't order from the window any longer. She talked us into coming inside. We asked if we could sit at the bar and then she disappeared. We noticed that most of the staff during the 6 o'clock rush were on their personal cell phones and not paying attention to what was going on. No management in sight, the only person that noticed us was the young hostesses dressed in a lingerie top. After 10 minutes of sitting at the bar and being ignored by literally everyone we just casually walked out and nobody even noticed. I would personally avoid this restaurant if you're looking for quality service. The food did look good and that's why we came in initially. Disappointing. read more

Everyone was so kind! Everything was delicious. Em was our server and she was the best! Best vibes!

We came here on a Saturday night at 7:45 - go on their website ahead of time (even day of) to book a time! The service was really great - there was always someone around making sure we had everything we needed. The place is so bright & colorful inside! I really loved the ambiance. We started with the white sangria - I could drink this EVERY DAY. It was light & refreshing. We got the patatas bravo which have these beautiful layers of potatoes with a crunchy outside but soft inside. The brussel sprouts were cooked well and had a light lemony flavor with a hint of spice. The cauliflower & cheese balls were crispy on the outside and oozing on the inside. It was like hot lava of cheese and I couldn't get enough. The brothy rice was a bit underwhelming - I wish it had some deeper flavors or at least more salt but I liked the components in it. It just missed the mark a bit. I liked that the flat bread had bacon and dried figs, that was a great combo but the actual bread part could've been a bit more crispy. Overall, good meal and a great vibe here! read more

This place is hands down my new favorite restaurant in the city. It was such a beautiful space filled with color and art! I ordered a Matador Spritz for my drink and it was the most refreshing and fruity drink I've ever had (and gorgeous). 10/10 For appetizers, we ordered the Patatas Bravas and the Bloomin' Mushrooms. The Patats Bravas were layers of crispy potatoes that came with a delicious sauce. I never want to eat a potato any other way, they were extraordinary. 11/10. The Bloomin' Mushrooms were also really tasty and crisp with a smoky flavor. 9/10. For my main, I ordered the Roasted Spiced Cauliflower. This dish was pretty good when it came to the flavor but it wasn't much of a meal for me because it's really just half a cauliflower head that's seasoned and beans. I don't think I'd get this again but it wasn't bad. 8/10 Last but not least was dessert. We ordered the Churro Puffs which were the highlight of the meal for me. They were gluten free which was perfect because my partner has celiac disease. As someone who does eat gluten, these were so delicious and you couldn't even tell they were gluten free. They were crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside with the perfect amount of cinnamon sugar to coat them. The chocolate dipping sauce it came with was also perfect and really completed the dish. 11/10 Our server was so sweet and definitely made the experience that much better for us. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant- even for just the Churro Puffs haha read more

It was North Beach festival weekend. We struggled with finding parking and eventually parked down at Fishermans Wharf a few blocks away.A As we walked up Columbus Street we "discovered " Red Window. It was crowded, but we were warmly greeted by Ryan who searched for a table for two. He would end up being our server as well. It was after 2 pm on a beautiful sunny 73 degrees and we were very hungry! Ryan took our order of chicken wings, Mac & Cheese and egg on baguette along with Cocktails. We enjoyed the busy sidewalk crowds and the live music playing a few feet away. Definitely a very festive feel! Ryan delived our magnificent Cocktails. Perfect for the occasion. Our small plates arrived hot, appetizing and delicious! The portions were very generous and we needed a go box. We highly recommend "Red Window" especially the stunning Cocktails. Our server Ryan did a wonderful job hewas very gracious and friendly! read more

We came here for weekend brunch on a rainy day without a reservation/wait. Weekend brunch is offered 10-230, and they also have live music on the weekends after 11AM The brunch food menu is a bit limited, and we were disappointed that they ran out of the Tortilla Espanola- I saw someone else eating it, so we must've just barely been too late! Patatas Bravas- These were hands down the best patatas bravas I've ever had. The presentation isn't horribly mouth watering- it looked like cooked tofu cubes to be honest. But once you might into it, you realize that they are stacked, very thin slivers and cuts of potatoes, with edges perfectly fried and crisped. It kind of looked like those fancy crepe cakes made of a hundred layers. Bruleed Grapefruit- I thought the grapefruit would taste sweeter with the bruleed side, but the bruleed side didn't taste sweeter and my kids actually didn't like it. Comes with granola and yogurt- I did like the granola Salad - a romaine based salad, I found the vinaigrette a bit too tangy/lemony- but otherwise it was fine. Egg Bocadillo and Cauliflower Bocadillo- We coudn't decide between the two so got both! The flavoring on both was great. The egg was a soft folded sheet, and the cauliflower was well-cooked and flavored, a little bit spicy. i didn't care too much for the french baguette it was served on, so mainly at the filling. read more

Great place to dine for tapas, and esp there holiday drinks!! I had ordered the Patatas Bravas, and the flatbread. My friend ordered the meatballs, and a side of polenta. For drinks she got this lovely blue drink in a ornament ball, but I can't remember the name. I got the Prosecco with pomegranate, and then she got the Xmas tree one. Sorry I can't remember these names. I clearly was too into these drinks itself. Lol. Portia our server was amazing!! Such great service, and a lovely personality. She's the best!! As for the ambiance, it was nice to be outside and enjoy the scenery. Just chilling on Columbus Ave. Not too cold during lunch time, but when we came back for drinks it was a bit chilly. My husband and I stumbled upon Red Window. The restaurant is lively, bright, and had music playing. We had no clue what they served but the ambiance was enough to bring us in. We've now been here a couple of times and we love it. There's plenty of seating and service is attentive and friendly. I recommend the Red Window if you're looking for a casual restaurant for drinks and appetizers. The last time I was here I got the spanish spritz. It was refreshing and not super sweet. For appetizers my husband and I shared the patata bravas and albondigas. Everything we've ever ordered here has been delicious and they offer vegetarian options! While I love Red Window, I wish they'd expand the menu, but I think the point of this restaurant is smaller portions so that you can try a little of everything. read more

Red Window is such an inviting spot full of life, color, and music. The second you arrive, you are greeted with an energy that makes you happy to dine there. If possible, ask for a table along the windows. You'll be able to enjoy great food while listening to the live band. My friend and I arrived early to start the night with a pitcher of sangria. Reservations are recommended as the place does get busy. The sangria was crisp, refreshing, and light. It was a perfect pairing with the tapas we ordered. There's a good selection on the menu to choose from and sharing is recommended. Patatas bravas- my favorite dish from the night. Potatoes were crispy, flaky, and had great flavor Mushroom skewers- smoky and crispy. Good flavor Paella popper croqueta- texture was dense. If you are looking for a quick, small paella fix, then maybe consider this. But I prefer the traditional paella Gambas- while the flavor was good, I was expecting more from the shrimp itself. Maybe use prawn instead of shrimp? I can't put my finger on what underwhelmed me about this dish but I would pass on this next time Arroz caldoso- my second favorite dish of the night. Similar texture to a risotto. It was light and I didn't feel weighed down by the end of dinner. While I enjoyed the food and ambiance, one thing I think needs improvement is service. While our waiter and the bussers were lovely throughout the night, one of the hostesses was not. Not more than five minutes after we paid the bill, and with our glasses of sangria midway to our lips, a hostess hurried up to our table with iPad in hand and hastily said to us, "We have other reservations and really need your table. Thank you for dining with us though." She then hurriedly walked away. While I understand that the restaurant was busy and that they need to turn the tables as quickly as possible, but can their customers at least finish their glasses of sangria that they paid for?! We bought a pitcher, shouldn't we be able to at least finish it? It was rude and I felt embarrassed with other diners staring at us. It soured the mood after an otherwise enjoyable night. For this reason, this is a 3-star review rather than the 4 stars I wanted to give initially. read more

A cool and lively tapas spot in North Beach! When I came here, there was awesome live music outside, but if you want to have a conversation sit inside. I liked how the atmosphere was energetic and inviting. The drinks menu has some tasty-sounding drinks, and I thought the rose sangria we had was lovely. Our server was very sweet and attentive but kept trying to get us to buy more drinks after we already declined many times. This probably wouldn't have bothered me if I was trying to get sloshed that night but unfortunately I wasn't :\ We shared the meatballs, carrots, and patatas bravas. The patatas bravas were the star of the show - cripsy, not too salty, and oddly but satisfyingly rectangular. Good food & great vibes! read more

Adorable, this is what North Beach needed, what a nice addition! I used to brunch at the former spot Caffe Delucchi. Now the dynamic duo Elmer Mejicanos (also bar director at Tony's Pizza), and Adam Rosenblum of Causwells had a brilliant idea to transform this iconic intersection of Columbus and Stockton into a Spanish restaurant. The tapas and sangria are delicious. Don't have to travel to Spain, come right here to North Beach and dine outside in the parklet. The little takeout window is convenient if you want your empanadas to go. If my friend Shayla and I weren't full from cioppino around the corner, we would have ordered more tapas.
