A few days ago, my 2017 Ford Edge started making a loud metal rattling noise. I had previously been told by another shop that my engine mounts needed to be replaced, so I assumed one of them had finally failed. I called my regular mechanic for an estimate, but never heard back, so I started calling other shops. After reading so many positive reviews about Sam's Auto Service, especially the ones mentioning Lopez and his honesty, I decided to give them a call. Lopez answered, gave me a fair ballpark estimate for replacing the engine mounts, explained the labor costs, and told me to bring it in. He even said that if it turned out to be the engine mounts, there was a good chance I'd have my vehicle back the same day. After inspecting my vehicle, he didn't try to sell me the repair I thought I needed. Instead, he called me and explained that my engine mounts were not the problem. The real issue was a cracked flywheel. That immediately told me I was dealing with an honest shop that diagnoses the actual problem instead of replacing parts that don't need to be replaced. Lopez sent me photos showing the cracked flywheel while it was still installed in my vehicle so I could actually see the damage for myself. I have never had another mechanic take the time to do that. Throughout the entire process, he kept me updated on everything, including when the parts arrived and the progress of the repair. That level of communication and transparency is rare these days. Before approving the repair, I did my own research on what it typically costs to replace a flywheel, and I found that Sam's estimate was very fair and competitively priced. There were no surprise charges, no pressure, and no unnecessary upselling. During the repair, they also replaced the transmission fluid since the transmission had to be removed to replace the flywheel, and they completed a front-end alignment before returning my vehicle. It's obvious they take pride in doing the job correctly instead of cutting corners. Customer service like this is hard to find. Honest work, fair pricing, excellent communication, and treating customers with respect goes a long way. One thing that really stood out to me was the trust they built throughout the process. They took the time to explain everything, showed me exactly what was wrong instead of expecting me to simply take their word for it, and made sure I understood the repair before moving forward. When I went back to him he told me it was my turbo and it would cost me $5000. He decided rather than fix the cv boot that he'd just fix the axle for $1800. I told my regular mechanic and he screamed. Oh btw, he also charged me an extra $100 to take a look at what I believe he broke, but denied he did. My car never emitted smoke before him but anyone who owns a BMW knows once your engine valve has been opened you basically need to replace the gasket and likely the cover. All that said, I could be wrong and it's all a coincidence. Just go to the dealership and if it's too expensive there find a regular mechanic. DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY!

I also appreciated not having to re-explain my situation ten different times for them to remember who I was. Was pleasantly surprised to see that they also updated the waiting area. Like it was our fault his guy isn't there. His mom asked to text the receptionist who knows us and he says he doesn't have her number/jcan't text her. She gets the keys to leave and suddenly he's texted the receptionist and he's trying to work something out. Mind you we have been using this shop for over 20 years! That has never been "policy". And what right does he have to hold our vehicle over the weekend. Notice the theme. All this guy wants is money. He'll say anything to get you to leave the vehicle to make a buck. The previous owner was thoughtful, helpful, thorough and timely. This guy is the total opposite and has zero appreciation for long time customers. The mechanics and receptionists are top notch, the owner not so much. Beware of getting anytime other than an oil change.
