I usually go to my dealer for anything car related, but in this day their emissions inspection machine was down. Since I'd already planned the time from work, I Googled places nearby. This place had good reviews, so first I called to see what the wait was like, then drove over. The person I spoke to on the phone was pleasant. When I arrived, they asked me to scan a QR code to check in, that was neat. Although I went in for just an emissions inspection, the person who checked me in saw that my state inspection was due soon and suggested getting that done as well which I agreed to. Then I sat in the waiting area in the back and worked a bit. I wish I'd taken a picture of the waiting area before others arrived because it was so cute! It was decorated with a beach theme and there were small couches and arm chairs and games to play. I think the emissions and safety inspection took about an hour or a little more. When they finished the person who checked me out was also pleasant and chatty. He was reviewing my vehicle and what services I needed and I commented that it was much less than what my dealer recommended. He was very professional and said that the dealer might be more conservative but he believes in only getting what's necessary. I appreciated his take, and especially that he didn't feel the need to talk negatively about a competitor. I will absolutely be back to get my car serviced. I went here for my cars state and emissions inspection. Most places I asked around had a 1+ hour wait and weren't nice about their communication. I guess it's because my car is newer and they can't make money off state and emissions inspections unless cars are older usually. I called here before I went and they only had one car ahead of mine. When I showed up to the shop, there was someone working on another vehicle but was very friendly to me and asked me to wait while he looks at my car. I was dome in 30 minutes and was on my way! While waiting at the shop, I also overheard the mechanics conversation with a customer where they needed a costly car part replaced, and he even went ahead and called the manufacturer for the customer to see if there was still a warranty on the part. He also came up with other alternatives. A customer could use to pay for the expensive part. I've never seen a mechanic go this far for a customer before and it makes me want to come back in case there's ever issues with my car. read more

Definitely the best auto shop I've been to. I haven't found somewhere so reliable and transparent since I started driving, and I have had multiple cars and lived in several states. I found this shop after yet another frustrating trip to the dealership where they magically come up with about $1000 worth of repairs on a relatively new vehicle. Capitol Auto's approach has been completely different since my first oil change. They do the work you ask for, and they will make suggestions if they see something that needs to be fixed, but it's never an outrageous, long list that a lot of places will try to give you. Cory presents the issues clearly and gives you options to consider--you never feel pressured. I've also gone a couple of times for random small problems, and they solve them quickly. For example, I kept hearing a weird, very faint clicking sound that I couldn't identify when driving. It was subtle but annoying, so Cory took the time to sit with me in my car and listen for it, and he figured out there was actually an acorn stuck in the ventilation system. I really can't say enough good things about this place. I'm so relieved to have finally found an honest car shop that isn't constantly trying to take advantage of me. Taking your car in for checkups is never fun, but Cory and his crew make it as painless as possible. read more

Worst business practice, you buy Groupon deals regardless it is Regular Oil Change or Synthetic Blend Oil change, they will ask you to BUY full synthetic oil change. The one you purchased, no matter what kind oil change, they DO NOT accept. After this review, maybe they stop luring people with cheap deals on Groupon which they don't honor. I told them my car is TOTALLY fine with regular oil change, but They said "No" we can only do full synthetic. Very disappointed. And don't give your information when they ask you to scan and fill out an online form before you get what you want. read more

I live down the street and was working on my truck when I snapped a bolt off in the manifold. I called and got in same day and was quoted a higher price than I paid when it was done. Great! Since then I've come back for my oil changes and brought in my wife's car. I use their online system which is super easy to make an appointment. I'm not going to argue as you just confirmed all my previous concerns. For the others who might read this - below are the photos from the official guide of my car. There is no mentioning that conventional oil must not be used. And the merchant tried to cheat me offering more expensive option. When I suggested to use conventional oil referring to the manual - the merchant declined to do that said and asked me to refund the groupon. At the end I wasted my time, he didn't earn money and now he has this negative feedback here with the prove of my intial concern. Was it worth it? Hopefully other potential clients will find this warning useful for their consideration. read more

Cory definitely has a new loyal customer with me. I first took my car to Capitol Autoland two years ago when it was completely nonfunctional from neglect. He and his team were able to identify all of the (many) ways it needed help and got it running well again. Fast-forward two years later. I was tempted to try a different shop for annual maintenance because the shop had free valet pick-up/drop-off. Total mistake on my part, as the shop then quoted what looked to me like super high prices to do any work. I called Cory to see what his prices were, and his prices were far better (30-60% lower than the other quote). He immediately made time for me to bring my car in the next day. And in his new location, he had WiFi and a comfortable lounge area for me to sit in and work for the two hours needed to fix my car. Lastly, while in his lounge, I was able to see how responsive he was, how much he hustled, and how polite he was even to some of the unreasonable folks who walked in. On top of the fair prices and quick turnaround, this made me so glad to bring my car to Capitol Autoland for work. Will definitely not consider straying in the future! read more

Crooked AF, lied to me about a minimal issue that passed inspection the SAME DAY without anything being done at another inspection station. Definitely do not trust these guys! read more

I'm a very skeptical person, and winning my loyalty and trust is not easy. Furthermore, car repair shops are notorious for dishonesty and hiking prices. I'm so thankful I found Capital Autoland, because I've never experienced either of those here. I initially found them via a Groupon deal, but after a few repairs that ended up being less expensive than I thought and saved me hundreds of dollars from more expensive fixes down the road, I became a dedicated customer. There of been times when I thought I had an issue and they've checked my car only to find I didn't actually need work after all. Can you imagine that, a shop so honest they send you a without paying a dime? Before any repair I used to get multiple quotes. I started googling the prices and what everything should cost. Capital auto land has consistently charged below the average price and the work is stellar. I will keep going back even though the location is not at all convenient to where I live, I wouldn't risk taking my car anywhere else! read more

As a result, more often than not, my poor baby only sees a mechanic when I hear her make loud noises or she lights up the dashboard. Corey is a dishonest person. He failed my state inspection and listed three problems. Among the three complaints, Corey said my right front brakes MAY need to be replaced. When I asked Corey why he thought my brakes needed repair, he responded by saying the right wheel doesn't spin smoothly. Observing him the whole time, I noticed that he made this assessment without removing the tire and thoroughly examining the brake pads and rotors. Is this how we examine brake pads and rotors for safety? Spin the tire and make sure there is no resistance. Very suspicious! I came back for a re-inspection, and Corey said that I don't want to fail you again for not addressing the brakes. I told him the brakes were fine, upon further examination from another mechanic. Corey still insisted that I replace the brake pads and rotors. Corey said he would fail me again unless the right brake pads and rotors were replaced. I decided to take my business elsewhere. That same day my vehicle successfully passed the safety inspection. Always trust and verify an initial automotive diagnosis. Get a second opinion. Protect yourself from unscrupulous mechanics who prey on ignorant naive people. Shame on you! Corey is a wolf in sheep's clothing! Don't be a victim! read more

Came in here with a Groupon, but I hadn't realized that the Capitol Auto website had a separate appointment slots for customers with vouchers, and I had selected the wrong type of Groupon for my car! When I walked in, Mr.Nguyen was extremely patient and helpful in getting me sorted, and was kind enough to slot me into a opening they had available. They had a lovely sitting area in the back of the building that serves as a nice reading nook while they made quick work of the oil change on my car. read more
