Very disappointed and upset with the owner. I feel like my wife was taken advantage of. Oil change $79.00. Was fine. But all together $1250.00 + for breaks and rotors front and back that would cost $128.00 ×2=$256.00 just for parts. The Labor cost was so much more the amount than the parts. We told him that she did not need rotors and we just took the car to the dealership not long before coming here. The service department at the dealer said that breaks are good in the back and the front are ok, but possibly might want to get the front breaks replaced next service. The car doesn't get driven much. The owner Wahid said you need breaks and rotors for all 4 front and back. I explain to my wife she doesn't need that. He brought up and and did a scare tactic and said that if she doesn't change the rotors that the car would shake when she hits the breaks. So she decided because we have a child to get the rotors and brakes and pay this ridiculous very high price. I would not refer anyone to this mechanic shop. My wife said and thought Wahid was a very good guy and prices were very reasonable. This was the only reason why we went to him. Unfortunately that's not true. A friend referred me to Capital Auto Care because they had great experiences with them. I decided to give them a chance for my car inspection. The shop is located in a industrial area of Springfield, VA. There are other auto shops in the same location. The front office/waiting area is very small. It might not be the cleanest, but it's an auto shop. The office clerk was nice and I was assisted as soon as I arrived. The inspector was very thorough and helpful. He took the time to explain to me about a noise issue I've had with my car for several months. I feel it was above and beyond the standard service. I do believe this business can has trustworthy employees. The prices are very reasonable and I will come back to try some other auto maintenance services. read more

I'm new to the area and picked this place based on customer reviews - I was not disappointed. Wahid is very friendly and knowledgeable! Before I brought my car in, I called his shop multiple times for various questions (he was very patient and friendly) discussing my car issue. He had an understanding that I probably had a bad starter and gave me a quote on the price for the part and labor. He even fixed the positive connector to my battery for free, as it was worn down from corrosion. I will definitely come here again if I have car issues. read more

My 2010 Mini Cooper Convertible has been in Wahid and his team's exclusive care since I moved to VA. Mind you, I held on to my last mechanic till they relocated from its original NW DC location. I was skeptical when I switched. Wahid's team did well enough for oil changes and the like. Sure. What earned my loyalty was his conduct after I got into my first car crash. I'm generally short and to the point in business interactions due to my tight schedule. When I explained the condition of the car and the work needed, the first words out of his mouth were "yes but are you okay?" And when my engine misfired, he laughed and recounted the recency of my last visit. You come to Capital Auto Care not because the prices are fair, the work is superior, and the service is great. You come because they have all of those qualities in addition to genuine concern for their clients. Wahid endures my onslaught of auto questions. He remembers my facepalm worthy stories. Do your homework and avoid this business!! We saw Wahid for a punctured tire because he was highly recommended on Google and in local community groups online. We were told he was reasonable with fair prices. We ended up needing all our tires replaced and he gave us a quote for a set new tires at $240 a tire plus installation. We are in the middle of being posted away from the area with Defence and with two small kids in the middle of a pandemic don't have a lot of time. I think a lot of people are in this position at the moment. We trusted that he would provide a fair quote based on his reviews and reputation and so agreed to the work to be done the same day. Thinking about it overnight the cost didn't seem right. Some quick research and we were sold tires that retail for $160. His local competitors (NTB) sell these same tires for $180. We had a friend call and ask for a quote. She was quoted $240 a tire for a better set of tires. Seems like Wahid charges whatever he feels like on the day, regardless of the product and quality. When I called to discuss this he said he buys the tires for $200 and needs to make some money off them. He said if we liked other businesses prices we should shop with them; absolutely we will be doing this in the future and encourage other people to do this too! In the end he offered a 'big discount' on our next set of tires. Needless to say there will never be a next set of tires from him based on the service this time. In the end we paid $320 more for a set of tires than market price. No dispute that we agreed to having the work done. Our mistake was trusting Wahid to provide a fair and reasonable quote. Do yourself a favor and support a different local business. read more

Took my car in after the left control arm failed and collapse while I was driving. This was due to driving in WI the past 12 years and the salty winter road conditions. While I had it in the shop, I decided to get the right side control arm replaced as well, brakes and rotors all around, front windshield sprayer repaired and new battery terminals(if needed). Long story short, I picked the car up after almost two weeks in the shop. Driving it was a dream, all seemed ok with the steering and braking. I was told I didn't need a new battery or terminal, the terminals just needed cleaning. After a few days, I went to use the emergency brake, and I found it was completely disconnected. A few days after that, I went to start my car, and found the battery dead. I called AAA, they can out and tested the battery. It was at 7%. Bad battery. The AAA tech also actually cleaned the battery terminals for me, and it clearly showed Cap Auto did not even look at my battery like I had asked. So now I am conflicted, because the major work that needed to be done appears to have been completed very well, whereas the minor issues were definitely not completed satisfactorily. All told I dropped $3200 for control arms and brakes all around. Attention to detail matters. Honesty and integrity toward the client matters. Now I have to be inconvenienced on two things that could have been simple to fix while the car was still in the shop. Wahid is a nice guy, but just make sure everything works before you leave his lot. AAA took care of the battery on site, but for a price. I will now have to take the care somewhere closer to me to get the e brake connected. Shame. read more

The mechanic ended up telling us later that it was still under warranty and printed out paperwork for us to give to the dealer. He saved us so much money! I have finally found an honest excellent mechanic! The dreaded "Service engine soon" light came on in my Ford Expedition XLT and as we all know, that is usually never good news...I found Capitol Auto on yelp and saw it was nearby but was more interested in all the 5 star reviews I think every single review including my own rated them 5 stars. Well, there is a reason for that. They're true. Wahid is a VERY kind and friendly hard working person and clearly knows his stuff. The word is also clearly out as his lot was full on a Saturday morning. He and his crew diagnosed the problem in a very short time and determined my gas cap was leaking...It was the original on a 2001 Ford Expedition and it's time had come. This could have been a very costly repair and diagnosis had I gone anywhere else I am certain. I'm happy to be the proud owner of a new $28 dollar gas cap! I am sold on Wahid and Capitol Auto Care and will never take my car anywhere else! In addition, even though he is only open until 3pm on saturdays, he gladly stayed until 430pm so I could pick my car up no problem...and--most every car that was there for service/repair earlier in the day was gone... Hats off to this place, highly highly highly recommended! read more

My friend recommended Capital Auto Care last year in December'ish when I needed to change my brakes. I called around to compare prices and I think he offered the best price. The brakes work was noticeably better and the screeching sound was gone. The second time was when I had a flat on one of my rear tire and I need someone to take a look right away. I called around and most places charged $25 bucks to just inspect it. I took it to Wahid and he inspected it for free and couldn't find any holes at all... So all was well... Today I went to see him to replace my tires, because they were balding at 99k and the car was making a lot of noises when decelerating and at high speed (Wahid actually recommended me to replace them last year but my budget didn't allow for it after changing the brakes ). I did call around for prices, and even though Wahid's prices were about the same as the competitor, I was afraid to take my car to other places after reading some of the bad reviews online (e.g. Arlington Auto Care). After spending a good deal today, I am actually pretty happy that the noise is gone. The car is very quiet compared to before especially when coming to a complete stop. I will continue to take my car to Wahid. He's a honest and good man.. read more

Virginia's annual safety inspections are awful. I called several places and got the run around but they were very friendly and accommodating here. I called and they said first come first serve so within an hour and a half I got there, passed the inspection, and was home. It costs $16 and is as painless as possible here. read more

These reviews are skeptic. Called just to get a quote on a pretty easy and routine repair (replace radiator) and captial auto care insisted that I wait two days and then bring the car to their shop and refused to give a quote over the phone because they "don't deal with people who shop around and ultimately end up wasting their time". First, I am calling to save my time and yours hence the reason why I'm not driving around to several different mechanics. Second, what shopper wouldn't survey the market before spending a decent amount of money? If giving a quote over the phone is too hard for them, I wouldn't have much faith that their ability to fix cars. read more

This is the only place I'll take my car to for service in the area. Found Capital Auto Care via Yelp a few years ago when my car engine was making some pretty weird noises. Yelp reviews told me that Capital Auto Care and Wahid were honest and trustworthy -- something that matters when you're spending over $1000 to fix your engine. I've continued to bring my car back to Capital Auto Care, luckily for smaller repairs. This past week, a heat shield under my car got loose. I couldn't fix it myself, so I brought it into Capital Auto Care. When Wahid let me know my car was ready for pickup, I asked how much I owed him. His response: Nothing, it wasn't any trouble to fix. I'm absolutely delighted that a friend convinced me to try these guys out- It's a bit out of the way for me coming from Arlington but I can't imagine going anywhere else in the future. I had a massive self-inflicted problem with my Volvo (as in I tried to fix it myself) and the staff helped me unravel the issue and get back on the road for a more than fair price. These guys are honest and straightforward- if they can't fix it, or in the case of some older cars, it's not *worth* fixing, they'll tell you straight up. Very happy that I checked Yelp before figuring out where to go for my state inspection. As I'm new to the area I did a ton of research on what to do in terms of registering, title and drivers license. Didn't know that every car, regardless of here temporarily or permanently, has to get a state inspection done and a sticker in the windshield. Due to the great reviews and the close proximity to my place, I chose Capital Auto Care. Their website was informative and let me do an informal reservation online which was nice. The experience itself was great--not intimidating as auto dealers can be. They were very friendly and professional and quoted that the inspection would take about 1.5 hours. They finished within 1 hour and 15 mins and with a smile on their face. The waiting room is pretty bare bones but really comfortable with a couple of chairs, a bunch of magazines and a tv. No wifi though. If you know it will be a while it's easy enough to walk down to the Starbucks (about 10 mins) down the street to wait and they will call you when done. If I have an issue for service I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car back here. read more

Good experience here! Based on Yelp reviews, I had my daughters Taurus towed here after hours when the starter died. Wahid was very accommodating when I called the next morning and said he noticed the car and would gladly look at it. He called me in an hour with a very fair estimate and did a same day job at that price and my daughter was on the road. $340.00 installed for a starter which is very fair.
