However, the inside dining looked crowded, they didn't have an organized reservation system, they offered a salad bar in the midst of a pandemic, and none of the servers wore masks. Most staff became pleasant, but they were busy and some were just "done". We tried to lighten the mood and it seemed to work. As along as you didn't ask for anything. We ate our salad with a soup spoon from the salad bar without complaint, we weren't given utensils, so we improvised. My steak was cooked perfectly. My Navy sons Buffalo "steak" (turns out it was a very large ground patty), was over cooked. Salad bar had rotted lettuce and a spoiled "corn salad" mixture. The cucumbers had started to ferment, tasted like mold. They actually diluted the Tabasco sauce condiment on the table, that was unique. The soup was equivalent of campbells mushroom diluted with water and a micro amount of added celery and onion. I could go on, no need to. The bottled beer was good. Though when I asked for a glass and lime wedge for my Landshark, apparently annoyed the waitress, she brought it over and slammed it down so hard I had to catch it from falling over. I still gave her 20%, hopefully that would help lift her up, assuming she was just having a bad night. We had our dog with us and It was listed as one of 2 dog friendly restaurants in this town. I walked into the bar area and the waitress was walking by. I asked her if we could get a table outside and she responded extremely nastily that there was only 2 servers for the restaurant and bar and they could not be running outside. I told her I had a dog and could not come inside. She mumbled something and walked away from me. Here's the thing, Wall has like 3 restaurants and it is very touristy because it's right outside the Badlands National Park and Wall Drug is a huge attraction. There are hundreds of people walking around that town. This restaurant had 2-3 occupied tables on a Friday afternoon and they were otherwise empty. I don't know if that is an indication of the food or the nastiness of the wait staff but we did not stay. I don't know how you are not doing everything you can to bring in business but I would not be surprised if they were closed down the next time we roll through. read more

All the reviews are true and what it comes down to is how the reviewer looked at the situation at hand. Did they give it a real full fledged review or compare it to the options around the Wall, SD (which is far and few to say the least). Service: either they put something in the drinking water or this joint is run by teenagers. They were raised well as the service was pretty good. Salad bar: bagged salad and what was apparently corn and ranch dressing were amongst the options. Soup: potato and bacon. Kind of mushy. Main dish: - Today's Special: the Walleye (not a fun play on words where they exchanged "rib" for "wall". It's a kind of fish.) - Ribeye: decent. I envision myself eating this in a diner all across 'merica! I asked for medium rare and medium rare is what I got! Additional: casino attached? We arrived here driving west, on our way to Badlands National Park. Wall is home to Wall Drug, the tourist trap that even I couldn't deny a visit; it also, on this night, seemed a decent place to settle down for the night. This place was next door to our motel, and it looked great at first, as they advertised a "beer garden". No arm twisting needed there. Once we were in the door, we discovered the beer garden "just an outdoor seating section, I suppose" was closed. It was late July, so it wasn't because of the weather, but rather that they didn't have the staff to handle opening another section. As a server who's been in this situation, I grumblingly accepted and sat indoors. At least the beer will be good. Nope! Nothing but terrible domestic bottles, Busch and Keystone and the like, with maybe a few standard imports like Corona. I drank the one I'd never had before - "Premium Grain Belt Beer" - and it made me want to cry. The four of us perused the bare-bones menu, and settled on wings for an app. They were so disgusting, slimy and brimming with fat, we couldn't finish them despite our ravenous appetites. I ate a burger for dinner, the one redeeming factor in my visit. It was a good burger, but nowhere near enough to salvage this unpleasant experience. Our server gave us the same don't-care-one-bit vibe that she gave her other tables. Not rude, but fully aware that each of her guests would probably never return to town for any reason, let alone return to this sad excuse for an eating and drinking establishment. I'm not surprised one bit that I'm the first reviewer for this place. Loud and obnoxious waitress complaining about the soup of the day because it was chicken noodle but the cook threw in beans. Then she complains that there was only a waitress per side of restaurant. She shouts across the room at new comers and people who she knows or had to wait. And I think she hates pizza being ordered because she told us repeatedly it's being discontinued and the only pizza left was Hawaiian. which should have told us it's frozen pizza. It was gross. Worse restaurant in a very long time. They must rope in the tourists and don't care because they probably won't return. BTW, husband tells me the men's room door is broken. In wall South Dakota for one night and did carry out from red rock based on yelp reviews. I had the chicken fried steak, baked potato and a side salad. My wife had the chicken tenders baked potato and broccoli. First thing to mention is that the carry out order was completely correct i.e. everything was as we ordered. My chicken fried steak was quite good and I would give it a 7.5 or eight on a scale of 1 to 10, I thought my baked potato was excellent and the side salad was adequate and the blue cheese dressing was quite good. My wife said her chicken tenders we're also very tasty and her broccoli was very good. My wife pick the food up and said the hostess was very nice and accommodating. Bottom line we would order there again with no hesitation and may go back for breakfast . Also important to mention that they were practicing social distancing and all the employees were wearing masks which was important to us as we are in our 70s and prime candidates for getting the Covid virus. read more

Travelling cross country on a National Park road trip and the hotel recommended the Red Rock. Nothing fancy but home grown mom and pop that definitely delivered !... big portions and tasty home cooking. We came back twice having the Fried Chicken and Walleye, both were delicious but the Walleye was out of this world! Big portions and great value with the salad bar. I have now found a restaurant with a meat bar. The place is a comfortable and has a lot of wood. The server was great and the prices were fine. One in our group thought the place was too bright. What a disgusting place. I entered the Lounge side which is dark and dingy. Bartender does not wear a mask. So I assumed I was in the wrong place and reentered through the restaurant side which was better. Surly waitress was going to seat me in the lounge side since I was eating alone. When I told her I wanted to eat on the restaurant side she replied , not ironically, "well I guess I have to seat you then." Although I thought WTF, I sat at table and after looking at the menu I walked out without ordering. There was not a single semi healthy thing on the menu, and it wasn't the yummy kind of not healthy but rather the yucky kind. This must be a very unhappy place to live when they think that behavior and that atmosphere is somehow acceptable. BTW I had eaten there a few years ago and it had been quite nice then. My husband and I were traveling through the area with our dog and were looking for a dog friendly restaurant with outdoor seating. Red Rock Restaurant popped up on my Yelp app. We ate a late lunch on their patio. The Wasta burger and the Creighton burgers were delicious. The service was outstanding and a water bowl was filled as we sat down. We spoke to other servers there as well. Everyone was very friendly. We would definitely stop by Red Rock again. Let me start off by saying I'm a pretty generous reviewer - just look at my history. However, I truly believe God himself has placed this restaurant on Earth as an eligibility course for heaven. So we came here on our way back home from a 6 day road trip. It was one of the few dining options, and one that at least had a healthy option (broasted chicken?) aside from burgers, pizza, and fried foods. We walk in thru the bar, then find a door that leads you to the restaurant. Upon entering, a lady seats us with menus. We sit there for about ten minutes before we got the attention of a man who seemed to be the manger. He asked if we'd been helped, then said he'd call over our waiter. We waited another 10 minutes before we had to stop another lady to ask for service, to which she said she was off the clock but would grab somebody for us. Finally, a lady came to take our order. Mind you, this place was maybe 30% capacity (6 tables?) and had 3 waitresses. At no point during the rest of the meal did the manager check on us, despite walking by us a minimum of 15 times. Food: we ended up getting the dinner buffet that came with a salad bar. The salad bar didn't even have cucumbers or tomatoes or onion! What did it have, you ask? It was pretty indecipherable to be honest. Everything was horrible except the broasted chicken. Not flavored, but as a personal preference it was good because I just wanted chicken breast without added oil or sauces. Most wouldn't call it great. Also, they make it a point to water everything down. All the tabasco sauces clearly had water added to them, the mac n cheese was watery, even the mashed potatoes were so thin! First thing I'll say: If you are primarily concerned about the food, it's very good for American-style food. No issue with the food. Second thing: If you want to eat on the patio say you want to sit there immediately. Don't sit at the bar for a drink first and think you can move to a table as is the case with many other restaurants with bars. We went to the bar first figuring we'd wind down, get our drinks and then get some food to eat outside as there were LOTS of free tables on the patio. We were in short order regaled by a bartender who believed himself to be the absolute most entertaining and hilarious comedian on the planet. He sure had personality but I'm not sure if I could appreciate it as much as he intended as It was hard to hear him or anything, or even your own thoughts in that the stereo speaker was placed directly in the middle of the bar projecting outward. And it was loud. All treble. No bass. My husband wanted to order because he was hungry and I decided that we should take our food outside for a multitude of reasons....you can imagine and I won't bore you with the details. We got our food and please make no mistake, it was good for what it is. They had a salad bar which I did enjoy. The loaded baked potato could had more cheese, but my husband's burger was really nice. Getting from the bar out to the patio....ooof.... that was a MAJOR ordeal. Ever been guilted by a bartender? I have. It appeared that the connection between the restaurant and the bar is weird and confusing Guess what.... I left my poor companion to get the tab and walked with my food out there anyway. We then was told they were out of them. This was right after they opened. We ordered their hamburger steak instead which was only OK. The Red Ole potatoes ( similar to 'Tater Tots) had to have been fried in rancid oil. They were inedible. Chicken fried steak (my spouse's favorite) was so tough and flavorless it went half consumed.
