I was really hoping for a good cup of coffee, but unfortunately, this one just wasn't quite what I was looking for. I ordered a caramel latte, and while it was drinkable, it was a little watery and didn't have as much sweetness or caramel flavor as I expected. I ended up not drinking very much of it. Sad day - We stopped by because I saw the strawberry matcha picture on Yelp and got SUPER excited! The employees are very sweet... I will give them that! They also have a super cute patio area where you can relax! They were unfortunately out of matcha. I chose to get a strawberry lemonade instead and I'm 99.9% convinced it was tap water with strawberry syrup. There was no lemon flavor at all. My wife got an iced brown sugar shaken espresso with oat milk and cold foam. They handed the plastic cup to me and I could automatically feel the warmth from the coffee. She said that it tasted like Folgers coffee with a little bit of creamer, but was still pretty hot. She also ordered a bagel... which came out cold and hard. Lots of good reviews so maybe I caught them on a bad day but wow the two girls were rude. It's awkward when you walk in and they both just stare and don't speak. If you're travelling through Wall, much like we were, the first thing you should know is that there isn't a ton in this small town aside from Wall Drug, so from my research, Stompin' Grounds is one of the better options in town when looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast and caffeinated beverage. First things first, Stompin' Grounds is a coffee stand with outside seating. We were fortunate to visit South Dakota during a nice stretch of weather in late July and it was a beautiful morning to sit outside and enjoy our breakfast. You'll want to keep this in mind if you're hoping to find somewhere to sit and eat if it's hot outside. We each ordered different iced lattes and breakfast sandwiches. Our kiddo was disappointed as while donuts were advertised (and a few on display) there were none for sale. I think the ones in the case were likely old and for display only. The girls working though, could not have been kinder and we ended up getting our daughter some mini cinnamon roll bites instead which she really enjoyed. Now to the food and drink - overall the food and coffee is probably a 3/5. I found the latte to really be lacking in coffee flavor, but it got the job done. If the breakfast sandwich hadn't been so expensive, I think I would have had a better impression of it, but it honestly tasted like an imitation bacon gouda from Starbucks but was twice the cost. My husband's breakfast burrito though, was truthfully VERY good, so if you go here I think that's the way to go. Lastly it should be noted that there are no public restrooms here. Finally, in case this was too long, 4/5 stars because Wall doesn't have a ton of options, this place is local, is doing something creative, and has the nicest folks working there. Was looking for a breakfast to go and since none of the gas stations have breakfast items for some reason I went to Stompin Grounds. I ordered a sandwich, which came out of a cellophane package and was microwaved for me. The sandwich is less than 4" square, about an inch thick, and cost $6.50. Had one piece of bacon on it. Adorable little places to sit at astro turf outside and places to sit inside while waiting for your order. There's a bright bakery area. From 6am to 2pm this is THE place to get coffee if you are anywhere near Wall. There is a drive thru if you don't want to park. Breakfast sandwiches are available too. The awesome owner decided my sandwich came out too messy and made me a second one instead, before I even saw it. It is so nice to have people treat you as they would treat their family members. I went to this coffee shop while we were making a pit stop at badlands and would not come again. They didn't even say anything while we ordered. I ordered a 20 oz butterbeer latte and my fiancé ordered a 16 oz snickers latte. My fiancé wanted it to be hot, but they assumed it was a cold latte, but no big deal. When they gave us our order they made the snickers latte 20 oz and the butterbeer latte 16 oz. When you pay over $15 for coffee that is a little frustrating. read more
