First of all, we had a great waitress named Kyli. She was super sweet and took great care of us. We sat outside on the patio because we had our fur baby with us. Being outside didn't stop Kyli from being prompt and attentive. The outdoor seating was great with plenty of seating and a covered area. My husband a burger and tots and ate every bit of it. I had the steak tips served over grilled onions and a baked potato. The sauce the steak tips were cooked in was very good, sweet and tangy and the meat was cooked just the way I asked. Stopped here our third and last night in Wall... there's really only 3 restaurants open in the town past 6pm when it's not peak tourist season. We had already been to the other two and thought we'd round out going to the last local place. We got a personal cheese pizza (very limited vegetarian options here) and a country fried steak with a side of Mac and cheese. Both were average, and the wait wasn't long at all after ordering. We were enjoying an adventurous day through the Badlands and decided to meander to Red Rock Restaurant in Wall for dinner. Hubby ordered chicken wings and I ordered popcorn chicken with baked potato. The buffalo and garlic parmesan wings were a solid four. The popcorn chicken was perfectly round, fried to a crisp yet rubbery. The baked potato hit the spot but was undercooked and lukewarm. The butter didn't even melt. All in all the meal was satisfactory. I will say that our meals were rather simple yet it took 42 minutes to receive them. I would say this is unacceptable being in a tourist area. It was not busy at all. There were five tables of two customers inside and one table of four outside. The salad bar was scarce and simple. Being we sat across from it, we found it odd that a gentleman would always come from the back every few minutes to add a few clean plates. Why not just make one or two trips? We stopped in Wall, after leaving the Badlands. We had three hungry kids and they wanted brisket. A quick search found this place. The brisket was good. Could have used more seasoning. Not to many places in Wall so this might be ok in comparison to other spots nearby but no way I'd put it up against other places I've eaten at. The location has inside and outside seating. We were seated right away but a wait started right after us at around 5:45 on a weekday. Ordered a local beer out if spearfish and they were out even though it was only cans. Asked for an alternate and they were out of that too. Heard them telling other tables that they were out of certain other canned drinks as well so or I'll drink choices seemed pretty limited. Onto food. We ordered onion petals ( 2.5/5), pulled pork nachos (5/5), sliders (3/5), burger (4/5) and bbq combo (1/5). Ok, I might be a bbq snob but this wasn't it. Brisket and ribs appeared reheated and were greasy. Saw another plate get delivered bd it looked even worse then mine. Please, please, please don't subject yourself to this bbq. All of the other food was kind of hit or miss with some getting rave reviews from people that ordered them to others being a mix of two bland or over/under done. I will say that the service was pretty good. The wait staff was trying their best but you could tell that diners were getting agitated with the speed as the kitchen seem to get really backed up. I heard them tell a party that had been seated to expect to wait 30 to 40 minutes for their food. They do have a salad bar that we didn't take advantage of but I can see how people would add that on if the wait for your entrées is going to be that long. I very rarely review restaurants. It takes a special horror to bring me to my computer for such things. And this is, far and away, the worst food I have ever paid money for. Both me and my girlfriend got the BBQ combo - as mentioned by other reviewers, this was the equivalent of eating excrement. I'm not exaggerating. I took less than five bites and I even considered getting a "where is wall drug" bumper sticker because my consciousness was so distressed and altered. All of this took place while a terrible sitcom re-run played at high volume. The meal cost nearly 20 dollars, and it was inedible. Avoid this at all costs. Shoot a wild mountain goat in the Badlands and roast it up on your muffler. It will be better, healthier, and less expensive than Red Rock. The thought of never thinking about this restaurant again in fact gives me a red rocket. read more

Your options in Wall, SD are extremely limited. Extremely. So we are grading on a curve here. Most places I've been to would garner this place a two star rating, but since nobody got food poisoning and we really had few other choices, three it is. The service was pretty terrible, but to be fair, it doesn't seem like there were a lot of employees, which makes it hard to give an accurate evaluation. We sat on the patio, because inside felt stuffy and the salad bar frightened me with it's appurtenance. It had been through some things. Not sure if we were in SD in the wrong season, but the flies were a huge issue. We encountered them all through our travels, so we don't blame the restaurant at all, but they did seem to be heavy at this location. Maybe the flies just like Wall, SD. I certainly didn't. Anyway, our table ordered the steak, Indian Taco and Chicken sandwich. The indian taco was pretty bad, the dough so thick and tough. The chicken sandwich was ok. The ribeye was a terrible cut and my jaw was sore after attempting to chew it. For the price, I should have gotten a much better piece of meat. But, again, the choices are so limited, what are you going to do? Maybe order the chicken sandwich. read more

Red Rocks restaurant and Lounge is owned by a Vet named Ken. Ken and Lisa have a new fan. Lisa, our server became a friend fast, I ADORE her. Fun, energetic, lovely and lively. Wild Bill (Bartender) I can tell that he is a character, I am sure he has some great stories. Mary Louise, not sure what she does but was super nice. Who would've known we would've found a Broncos bar? I was informed this part of South Dakota supports the Broncos and I eastern part of South Dakota are Viking fans. Wild Bill who is the bartender in the lounge said that he is a Seahawk(sea-chicken) fan. Literally farm to table, bacon, ham and sausage were so good.. I WOULD RECOMMEND! read more

Had the prime rib special on Saturday. The portion was generous but it was cold on serving. I would give it a solid 5 out of 10. The other person at the table had the Pull Pork Sandwich. It was very soggy and the sauce was very sweet. The biggest complaint was the service. It was very poor. The were not that busy. I make it a habit of tipping but the lady really did not deserve anything. We will not go there again. It may be that there were other things on the menu that they do better so the pulled pork may have just been a bad choice that should not have been on the menu but the poor service really was the biggest failing. read more

I grabbed the ribeye which had a crazy thick fat cap. The roll was nice and soft. The steak was fine. I asked for medium rare but got medium. They have a lovely patio outside. Your steak comes with a basic salad bar. Yup the salad bar is a bagged salad with a handful of fresh toppings. It's fine. Nothing special. I would grab a burger with their tots or the mashed potatoes with white gravy. Again it's one of the only restaurants in town. I'd rather eat here and then the other places that are giving people food poisoning. read more

We ate at the Mexican restaurant our first night in Wall and it left us with little choice for our second dinner so this is where we ended up. Though they have an outdoor patio they weren't using it. Given Covid we weren't eating indoor especially in a place where no one including employees wore masks and they actually still had a salad bar. We grabbed a menu to order some take-out and we were informed that about half of the menu was not available. Great. We decided on a pizza to go. The five meat pizza was almost flavorless - how is that possible? The crust was from frozen (you could see the pre-made holes) and tasted like cardboard. At least as of July 2022, there's some pretty limited food spots in Wall, SD. We stopped here for dinner last night and it was ok. The actual restaurant is to the left and we sat in the bar that's located to the right. I ordered chicken soft tacos and they were pretty bland, but far from the worst thing I've ever eaten. They came with a side of fries which were also ok. The restaurant side also apparently has a salad bar if you're looking for something really light, but I'd say this place is more geared towards folks wanting to come in for drinks. I think the food is sort of on par with the other places here: generic hamburger, fries, etc. As of July 2022, there's no Door Dash, so you'll have to hoof it, but the town is pretty condensed so it isn't much a hassle to hit any of the food spots here. read more

The beer was cold and that is pretty much the best of my visit to this place. The service was slow with only 2 people working, no knock on them. The indian taco was terrible, hard to chew or cut with a knife. Plenty of iceberg lettuce but very few essential toppings like cheese or meat. The salsa was very bland and the fries were the scrawny kind. The place could use a makeover it is pretty dark and dingy. A waste of my time and money for sure. read more

Stopped for lunch after visiting the Badlands NP. Not bad, they did some things very well and some things poorly. First, they didn't have several items listed on the menu, such as beer flavors, sides, etc. My wife and I both ordered burgers, she got the 1/3 lb and I got the 1/2 lb. Both were very tasty and cooked perfectly. My wife got the mac n cheese for her side, which was very good but my fries were among the worst I've ever had. They were extremely thin shoestring type fries that were overcooked and crispy all the way through. Not really fries at all IMO. We didn't realize it when we walked in, but there's two sections to the establishment, a "lounge" where we walked in and ate and a separate dining room that has a separate entrance. Needed a good breakfast option in this little town. This location had a great appeal. They get their meat locally. The inside is clean and welcoming. It didn't feel so touristy like the other places. I ordered the French Toast breakfast. I was thinking 3 halves of French toast. Nope it was 3 slices in half. Cool your egg the way you like it. I always get over easy as I love me some yolk. If you're in Wall at night time you have almost no choices of where to eat. This happens to be one of the few places that were open and I was pumped to find out they had some things we could eat. We had to pick items to go and unfortunately I wasn't really impressed. It's not that the items were all bad, it's that some were good and some were bad. It's hard to rate because of that. The fries (they're the yummy skinny ones!) and tater tot things were great. The BLT was terrible (so much unnecessary dry bread). So I'm going to rate this in a different scale than I normally would. I'm just happy that something was open in Wall and that it wasn't terrible (and some stuff was good! Yay fries!) I think if we had eaten inside, rather than had take out, it would have been much better. So, anyway, if you're in Wall it's better than Subway if you're up at night and you can drink too.
