We read the reviews before deciding on this but as others said there are limited options in Wall and we certainly didn't fancy the touristy alternative! We both had burgers, beer - I had the tater tots and partner had fries. Reasonably busy when we went - wait person seemed very unsure and nervous - perhaps not been working there long - pleasant but forgot our water and glasses. My cheeseburger came without the cheese and was over cooked with dry bread. Partners wall burger was ok. Don't have high expectations of this place and you will be satisfied. We were told only one chef working that evening so that explain things. read more

i am an avid food lover, but if your in Wall Drug, I highly recommend you avoid this place at all costs. this was one of the worst meals i've ever had. to start, there were flies EVERYWHERE. when i had ordered a quesadilla with chicken and cheese, simple right, apparently not, when it came i had ended up with 2 tortillas with rotten tomatoes, soggy lettuce, a minimal amount of cheese and a sad amount of chicken. The service was also extremely poor. i had gotten a side of tater tots, when i tell you they were so greasy that you could see puddles of grease in the grooves of the tater tots, im not exaggerating. do yourself, and your bank account a favor. don't go here. read more

We were on a western trip and stopped here for lunch. All six of us had buffalo burgers since it was the first time we had them offered on a menu on this trip. Very nice. Our waitress, who lives on a nearby ranch, was excellent and helped us with advice on our trip. We stopped on our way home; what a treat! One of our first restaurant visits during co-vid. My wife had three tacos (99 cents each). I had the tip dinner complete with salad bar. The steak is soooo good! We spoke to the owner and he let us know that he just bought the restaurant and opened 9 weeks ago. He owns the meat facility down the road so the steak is consistently fresh and tasty. We got steak tips, mashed potatoes, a roll and access to the soup and salad bar for $10! I honestly would've paid $50+ for that meal. The steak was cooked to perfection, the mashed potatoes were well seasoned and the the roll was a great consistency. Highly recommend for out of towners. We are traveling across country and heard how we had to stop at Wall Drug and eat in the cafe. We went there and the menu was very disappointing although the store was interesting. In looking for somewhere else to eat that served food other than burgers and fries we found this place and stopped in. Very bright and clean and the crew working were all very friendly. Ordered a beer which came so cold I think I had a moment with it! The country fried steak was excellent and the salad bar was well stocked. It had a varied menu with a lot of tasty looking items. Best burger I've ever had! We were stuck in Wall for 3 days due to snowstorm and closed I-90. Redrock was the only place that stayed open, had pizza, other bar food, and broasted chicken, all just OK, but the burgers were the best. Locally sourced beef and pork, fantastic! Staying in Wall for a few nights to explore the badlands and visit the infamous Wall Drug. We had driven into rapid city the previous two nights to eat due to the lack of options out in wall, but decided to eat here our last night. Both parties had burgers and both were good. Fries were good as well and seemed to be reasonably priced for dinner ($25 for two dinners and drinks) other food options looked good and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service. A good option if you're staying in Wall and don't want to drive out to rapid city for food. read more

We chose this restaurant because of the lack of options in Wall (Wall drug cafe closes at 4:45!). My sister ordered a buffalo burger, but they were out! That seemed strange in SoDak, where people come to eat buffalo! We sat in the bar so we could watch a game. The bartender was very accommodating and changed the channel. We were staying in Wall, SD, to visit the Badlands and had dinner at the Red Rock this evening. Not impressed. Service was fine. Chicken soup was good. The salad bar was putrid. Barely enough lettuce to fill the saucer you are asked to use. No tomatoes. No cucumbers. No onions. There were beets and pickles plus some unidentifiable mixed somethings. My wife liked the broasted chicken. I had a steak and it was passable, but maybe not worth the amount charged. The "baked" potato was ok, but the roll was perhaps the best thing served. Now there really are not many restaurants in Wall, so perhaps in comparison with the rest, Red Rock is not so bad. However, at home it would not pass muster. read more

This restaurant had okay reviews and since it was one Of the few local options we decided to try it. Two adolescents and two adults. Ordered Hamburger steak, grilled cheese (children) prime rib (med rare which arrived perfectly cooked), rib eye (rare). Definitions for rare, medium rare, medium etc were listed on the menu. I asked the waitress/hostess if I could have it warm but less than med rare. She suggested that if I ordered it rare I could always send it back. Fine. Salad bar included few fresh items, mostly mayonnaise laced salads, and excellent mushroom soup. Food was delivered, except for the rib eye which would "be right out." Five minutes later, after inquiring where the steak was she explained that "...there are 4 medium rare in a row so they're cooking yours separately." Wouldn't it make sense to just take the rare steak off the grill and continue cooking the others? Hmmm. It made no sense but I waited. 15 minutes later I received a dry, med steak, barely pink. When I finally got her attention she took it back to the kitchen. After another half hour, my table and all the surrounding tables had finished eating. I was very hungry by this point. Still no meal. It had now been close to an hour. I asked the waitress/hostess where my steak was, she offered to check, I told her just to cancel the order. She politely asked if I would like to speak to a manager. I declined. I was upset. What was the point? It wasn't busy, people came and went while we waited, I wasn't rude or demanding. Im more than willing to give a business the benefit of the doubt...short staffed, kitchen emergency, etc. I patiently waited an hour. diners came and went. I'm sure she picked up on my agitation. But that doesn't explain why we were treated so poorly. We had a long family discussion about that dinner. The children thought it was embarrassing to cancel and that I should have eaten the medium steak. One of them said it would have been different if the waitress/hostess hadn't discussed ordering it rare in the first place, acknowledging that I could send it back if I thought it was too rare (cold). I explained that I would have but we were in cattle country, I wanted a good steak and when paying over $30.00 for a meal I kind of expected to get what I ordered, especially since the waitress was aware of a request before placing the order. I don't mean to be rude, as the place seems to be run by teenagers, I imagine as some sort of after school project to learn a trade, or gain real life experience. But, I write this immediately following our "meal", and boy, was it bad. My wife had the chicken salad and asked for additional vegetables to make it a bit more varied, which apparently equates to "throw 3 tomatoes on it". I had the "burrito". Maybe I expected something different coming from California, but what they concocted was definitely anything but. No meat choices, only beef. That'd be fine, except it tasted like low grade meat, disintegrated by 4x the amount of recommend Walmart seasoning packets from the foreign foods aisle. The beans are obviously straight out of a can, and that's about it for the contents, save the sprinkle of cheese on top of it. Oh, I forget--of course it came with tater tots. I'm convinced the teenagers running the front are also the "chefs". This place reeks of home ed rejects. read more

It takes a certain type of awfulness to get a one-star review, but this place earned every bit of it. -Expensive for roadside fare. -Buffet has a few kinds of old pizza, a tray of watery noodles, and some hard harlic toast. There's also a few salad items. All this can be yours for only $13. -We nearly walked out since it took so long to take our order...they weren't busy. -no lids for kids cups was a huge problem after our two-year-old spilled a drink and no one even offered an extra napkin. Service was pretty bad all around. -place was badly in need of a good cleaning. Floors were sticky, plates were dirty, but bathrooms were clean. In a word: AVOID. read more

Our family of 5 arrived just before 8PM for dinner. There were only 4 other occupied tables but the service was still rather slow (it might've felt slower because of cranky children). Hubby and I both ordered grilled chicken sandwiches, he got fries, I got onion rings (extra charge for those). The chicken had decent flavor, but mine was very rubbery. The bun was toasted though, and that helped that sandwich a lot. The onion rings were great though! One kid had grilled cheese/fries, and she inhaled it....kid #2 had popcorn chicken and it was the typical prepackaged stuff....kid #3 had the corn dog kids meal with fries and he was happy. Had the 4 meat buffet. This included 3 meats, a empty pot of mashed potatoes, Kraft Mac and cheese, a salad bar and empty pot of chicken rice soup. The 3 meats in the 4 meat buffet included fried dehydrated chicken, bbq ribs from an unknown creature and mini hotdogs in a watered down bbq sauce. Even the pop sucked. Watered down. I usually do not write negative reviews, so I'll start with the positive. The waitress was nice, and the restaurant was open later than others. However, the food was just not great.. or even good. We had the Indian tacos and the chicken fried steak. I had been excited to try Indian tacos, but ours were very bland with strange textured meat. The baked potato that came with the steak was about the size of a golf ball. I would have preferred the hot dogs that had been cooking for two days at the gas station. The options for "fine dining" in Wall are non-existent. Actually, the choices for just plain dining are pretty limited, too. The Red Rock Restaurant, however, offers a nice evening out, especially if you like red meat. The restaurant has a homey feel and, the night we were there, the locals out numbered the tourists (which included us.) Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered the buffalo steak and were informed it was no longer being served as buffalo had become too expensive. We opted for the ribeye steak and mashed potatoes with white gravy. It came with a salad, for which we were directed to the salad bar. If you're thinking of ordering just the salad bar, you might take a look at it the salad bar first; it consists of basically four typical salad items: greens, broccoli, baby carrots and something else I'm now forgetting. Sadly, there were no tomatoes, which I consider to be an essential salad ingredient. There was also a macaroni salad, a bean salad, and two other containers I'm now forgetting. In terms of wine, there are five wines which are served from individual small serving bottles from "Barefoot Bynum" winery. I ordered the Cabernet, but was shortly informed by our waitress that they were out. I followed up with the Merlot, which was okay. The ribeye was nicely done, but maybe a little too salted. The mashed potatoes were okay, but the white gravy left me wondering what it was really made of and should I have ordered a more flavorful color. Overall, we were satisfied with the meal and feel we made the best choice in Wall. When I return to the Badlands and stay in Wall, I'd come back here. read more

Their broasted chicken is perfect and juicy with great seasoning on the skin. Mashed potatoes are real with choice of white or brown gravy (both are delicious). I came here with my husband and his family while on a family road trip. We had multiple issues throughout our meal. My mother in law ordered a coffee and never got it, my husband ordered a thick crust pizza and it came out as thin crust and lukewarm, I ordered the nachos with no lettuce, meat or jalapeños and they came out with all of those things. My husband told the waitress that the nachos were incorrect and she took them and walked away without saying anything. Shortly after, a different waitress gave them to a group of guys at the table next to us for free. When I got my new nachos, they were just chips, cheese and tomatoes, and were not even warm. The menu said that they were supposed to also have olives, onions, sour cream, and pico de gallo. When we received our check, we were still charged for the thick crust. We brought up the mistakes to the waitress and she was very rude about everything. Seemed to have a bad attitude and be upset with us. The guy manager was very nice and changed the price of the pizza, and took 10% off the nachos, but the waitress was not nice to us. read more

Nice diner-ish restaurant! We got take-out because it looked a little rough from the outside but it's actually quite nice inside. My son's burger was good although he didn't think much of the sweet potato fries. My wife and I got the "broasted" chicken which was quite good but should have just been called "fried". Limited menu - just what you would expect from this kind of town. Rib eye steak was good - though medium rare when I had ordered rare. Fried walleye - the special - was also good and a big portion. Both came with the usual choice of potato and green beans and the sou/salad bar which was fine as oong as you're not trying to make a whole meal out of it. Friendly staff. All in all a pleasant surprise after reading all the bad reviews. Only place in town that I have tried so far, but you could do a lot worse. read more
