Have you tried their mango cake? It was moist and fluffy and had a prominent mango flavor with chunks of mangoes! And if you have to try something else....chicken empanadas! Omg....my favorite. I could have it in my fridge and eat it throughout the week, hot or cold. It is sooo good. The crust doesn't get soggy and it is so good. Its actually my favorite part. Please was clean and decently stocked. A lot of the warm items were out and extremely limited. Maybe it was too late? The chicken empanada were not good. I ate one in the car in the dark as we set back on course to Vegas. The texture was unique to say the least. Stringy and a little chewy. The taste was different. A little sweet and little savory. Not my cup of tea. The sweet pastries were good but didn't taste fresh. The sole young lady working was very nice and knowledgeable. Their cake is moist and the cream used is whipped cream rather than butter cream so the fluffy/smoothness makes the cake light and airy. This place is great. The guys who work here are polite and fast. The pastries are pre-packaged to portability, and the products are solid. I also love the location, having it off Stockdale is just great. I can get a pastry and walk to Home Goods, good deal! We ordered the butter cakes, the ube, and the chocolate. Chocolate is this rich, devils food like cake. Super tasty and moist. Great options for chocolate lovers. Also, it's not ad big at the other pastries because it is so dense. Butter is good, a simple cake that isn't too sweet. I think pairing this with whipped cream and strawberries would be nice. This is a safe choice for the unadventurous sort. Ube is god tier. The best of the best. Fluffy and soft, I would have adored this with some fresh whipped cream. Overall, great place. This review is solely for Red Ribbon's customer service. I called Red Ribbon on Wednesday to place a couple cake orders for Friday and was encouraged to place my order online. I placed an order for a caramel cake and a strawberry cake. Why was I informed upon arrival on Friday that they didn't have the strawberry cake and that I would have to choose a different cake, OR cancel the entire order and place an order for just one cake, as they wouldn't be able to refund me for one cake only. Are you kidding me?!? Not only was this an inconvenience as I was expecting to pick up the cakes and leave right away, but they couldn't have called me or emailed me letting me know the strawberry cake would not be available ahead of time. I was so disappointed and will not order cakes from here again. read more

When I heard Bakersfield was getting a Red Ribbon Bake Shop I was super excited. Every time I craved any of their baked goods we would have to travel out of town. Occasionally I would find some of their products at Asia Market, but then they stopped a few years back so it wasnt as accessible. As many times as I've visited a Red Ribbon Bake Shop, it was my first time trying their chicken empanada and the halo-halo. I didn't think the empanada was gonna be that good, but I was wrong. It's a little pricey but it's really good. The halo-halo was really good and I would definitely get it again. For my mom's 77th birthday in September I got her a sansrival cake and she absolutely loved it. Highly recommended if you like cashews and wafers. All the breads are good and I don't have a favorite. I'm yet to try the pancit palabok and arroz caldo. The location is good. It's not in a super busy area and parking is not an issue at all. The staff has been super nice every single time we have come to visit. There was an issue w ordering my mom's birthday cake online and the manager fixed the issue right away. A taste of the Philippines in the city of Bakersfield!! I am so happy that Red Ribbon Bakeshop has found a place in my hometown. No need to go all the way down to Los Angeles in order to satisfy my Filipino food cravings. Since they opened over a year ago, I've been to this Red Ribbon about once a month. The staff has always been wonderful, and the shop sparkling clean. All the baked goods have tasted good, but I do have my favorites. The Cheesy Ensymada, Mango Cake, and Yema Cake are my favorites for satisfying my sweet tooth cravings. The Empanadas, Arroz Caldo, and Palabok are my favorite hot food items. Service: Great. I was greeted immediately upon arrival. The staff was busy sweeping the floor. The cashier was extra friendly and nice. Staff wore masks during this covid time. The store was clean. I went to the bakery around noon on a Wed. There wasn't any customers so not busy at all.. I bought 6 cheese Mamon sponge cakes (6 pack) and it was almost $12. The cheese mammon sponge cakes were nice and fluffy. I like Goldilock's mamon better. I also bought chicken($2.79) and pork empanada($2.59). The empanada pastry were not greesy and wasn't flaky. The chicken empanada had minced chicken meat w some mashed up potatoes and a couple of raisins. The pork empanada had a couple pieces of diced carrots and some fatty pieces. Both were not too bad tasting but I have had better tasting empanada. Tip: sometimes they may have some baked goods on sale depending on what they need to get rid of for the day. Wow, what a great little place with tasty treats and a super friendly staff. They gave me a box when I was there and I filled it up with packaged single serving cakes. I put one of everything in the box and was a great Valentine's gift for my B.F. What I I love about those single serving cakes is that you can buy them and then pop them in the freezer so they are always fresh. Cake freezes extremely well. I had never had anything from a Filipino bakery, but on the show Top Chef, they were raving about the Filipino baked treats they tried at a contestant's parent's bakery. I wish it was morning and I had the mocha to go with a coffee and get the day really going. (I don't drink much coffee but I would for the mocha mamon). I was worried about the ube mamon because I had flashbacks of purple stuff being poi from when I was stationed in Hawaii. It felt like a spongy cake. Was thrilled to hear that one of my favorite bake shops is now in my hometown. Really running out of reasons to drive down South for a foodie fix. Made it to the grand opening on August 28, 2021. Really didn't mind standing in the queue because staff was around to answer questions and excite us about some of their delicious desserts. Red Ribbon Bake Shop is known for some amazing cakes, breads, and pastries. My all-time favorite Red Ribbon cake is the Mango Supreme. It is layers of light, moist chiffon cake with mango laced cream, mango glaze and sweet Philippine mango slices. Yum! Had to have the Sans Rival Cake. Bought the smaller one just to satisfy my craving. My San Rival had thin crisp layers of meringue wedged between layers of a delectable buttercream and chopped cashew nuts. It was divine! Also bought a package Butter Mamon. Individually packaged light, buttery, melt in your mouth, chiffon mini cakes. Mamon comes in a variety of flavors. Butter, Cheesy, Mocha, and Ube. Did I mention that I also bought a package of Mocha Mamon? Love that hint of coffee in my mini chiffon cake! My husband made sure I bought some empanadas. Empanadas are hand pies or turnovers with savory meat filling. They have pork, beef, and chicken options. Our chicken empanadas were delicious. Moist and flavorful filling enveloped in a buttery crisp crust. Had to have the cake bars. My choice...mango, caramel, and brownie cake bars. A cake bar is a more dense, moist, mini cake that's individually packaged like a candy bar. Had them for dessert. And will be packing some for lunch. Couldn't leave without some of their savory fare. We decided to go get a cake or some slices on Sunday from this bakery. We have visited other locations in Southern California and are familiar with their products. They are located in the same shopping center as Jollibee. This bakery is small but has cakes, prepackaged baked items like ensamayadas, butter mamon, etc, a variety of warm empanadas, halo halo, and other specialties. After viewing the display case, I decided we should get a few slices instead of one cake so we can try more. We purchased a slice of ube, mocha crunch, and mango cake. The ube is a bright shade of purple and was fresh tasting. It was slightly sweet with a light ube flavor. The mocha crunch was my favorite. It was like having a candy pieces sprinkled in between layers of cake. Yum! Not too sweet, but it was the best of the three, if I want cake. The mango cake had perfectly ripe pieces of mango on top, the cake is not dense nor the filling too sweet. This cake had the most filling, which is a plus. My husband liked this cake the best. I also asked for a chicken empanada, the perfect little savory snack size treat. The pastry is well cooked and it was filled with plenty of chicken. I also bought a cheese ensamayada. It is prepackaged so check the date when you choose an item. I would definitely return for more empanadas. I also want to try their Sans Rival cake. I love the prepackaged items because they'd be perfect for a party. A customer from Delano was picking some up her grandmother's birthday, as well as a cake. I keep returning to this place because I like Filipino pastries. So It happened once when I was not paying attention to the expiration date of the pastries. Since then, I try to pay attention. After several returns I realized a pattern. They keep pastries on the shelf even if it's expiring the next day. I see people buying stuff making the same mistake as I did not seeing when it expires. That just pisses me off. When I asked if they have newer one, they said it should just be good still, just refrigerate. I'm not mad at the workers because something like this is a management decision. This place needs to go out of business for practices like this. read more
