Visited Red Perch for the first time. It's open seating and you order at the counter first. Sadly, a baby spider decided to join my table. Their fish (other than cod) changes daily so it's nice to know is fresh. I had the fish of the day and it was flounder. I enjoyed the meal overall but it became too salty toward the end. They have beer options and Jack Daniel's but not a full bar.
I liked several things about today's visit to Red Perch: Easy and free 2 hour parking in lot behind restaurant, Very friendly and knowledgeable hostess, Tried the Bearded Iris Homestyle canned beer..very good, Spot on lightly breaded cod & crispy chips with tartar sauce... excellent! Perhaps a tad pricey for lunch but so tasty. I will definitely return to try other menu items
Cute little place with a small menu and minimal seating, but big personality and a welcoming and friendly staff. We tried both the Cod and Chips and Barramundi and Chips. Both were good, but our preference was the Barramundi, which was more moist and flavorful. Maybe we're a bit spoiled coming from New England, where we have fantastic cod and Irish beer battered fish - it was good, but our hopes and expectations were high given the glowing reviews. I loved the thick tartar sauce and all the options available to suit your preferences, such as malt vinegar, ketchup, hot sauce, etc. Given the portions and casual environment, prices seemed a tad high, but perhaps were reflective of the modern, higher end plaza the restaurant is located in.
This place is amazing. The service was outstanding, both from the guy manning the counter and the chefs being super nice when we walked in. The inside isn't anything to write home about, but it's pretty cool with plants and modern aesthetic. The food though was like being transported to a beachfront restaurant. The food: We tried the fish & chips (cod) and the "Special of the day" fish and chips (Barramundi, aka sea bass). The cod was delicious and a big chunk! The special fish was buttery and even better than the cod. The fries are fried to perfection and the tartar sauce was probably the best I've ever had. Cant really see a reason not to come enjoy this unless you want a very upscale dinner. A hidden gem of the few casual seafood places in Nashville. Highly recommend!

Parking is at the rear of the complex and a bit of a walk. The inside of restaurant is on the small side with just three tables and with counter seating as well as seating outside. You're greeted by the Australian owner and he points out the chalkboard on one end of the counter to order from. I ordered the Katsu Chicken tacos and a soft drink and my buddy order the cod and chips. We were lucky enough to get an open table before another customer walked in. Our food was prepared in the fryer and prep table in view of customers and was served within 15 minutes. My order came with 3 large soft tacos with a large piece of fried chicken that was sauced with a sweetened sauce but wasn't too heavy. It was topped with a heaping helping of chopped veggies. The taco had a nice contrast in texture and flavor with the crunch of the fried chicken, the veggies, and the soft taco. The meal was filling but wasn't heavy and was very satisfying. The staff is friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. I'd recommend others to try the food as well as beverages as they also serve alcoholic beverages. I would return again if I'm ever in Nashville again.
Visited Red Perch for dinner a couple nights ago the food was very good but the overall ambiance and QSR feel just left me hanging. As well a little pricey for the portion size but n my mind. The service we had was good the food came out quick. All in all a good experience.
Had the chicken katsu tacos and double cheeseburger and I was not disappointed. The vegetable in the tacos were refreshing and crispy. The service was excellent and we'll definitely be back to try the seafood because they looked delicious!

Long overdue review but this is consistently the best fish & chips ever! I even went to Honolulu & had fish & chips & I still think this is better. Fish is fried perfectly every single time regardless of the type of fish. I've had the cod, rockfish, & the flounder here. The fish is light & crispy on the outside & soft, flaky, & moist on the inside. Fries are perfection as well. Happy hour 2-5:30pm M-F! Great deals on fish & chips & a pint. Parking is easy in the Sylvan Supply lot (they've just started charging for parking recently but you get 2 hours free). Keep in mind seating is very limited so definitely would be harder if you're trying to meet with a larger party. Love the outdoor seating on a nice day though! Staff is also always very friendly, welcoming & helpful! 10/5 stars.
The food was very good! The breading on the cod was very light and fluffy. I really enjoyed the lumpia with the sweet chili sauce. I would definitely order that again. Food came out pretty quick and was an overall good experience.

They have a fantastic happy hour Monday through Friday 2-5:30PM. 3 meal options $12-13 and discounted beer for $3 or wine for $5. The shrimp tacos (3) and a pint for $12 was such great value. Definitely want to go back and try more of the menu.
This was our first time eating here. We drove to Nashville just to try this seafood restaurant after I came across a post on Instagram. I loved their decoration and the vibe here. Absolutely loved all of the dishes here. I am not a big fan of ahi poke bowl in general but I loved the ahi poke here. My number one favorite was the calamari. The owner was super sweet and friendly. He also gave us recommendation on some good restaurants in town. Definitely gonna go back if I am in town again.
In a word: YUM! I went here for the first time for lunch a few days ago. I got the filet sandwich with fries and it was just splendid. Every piece of the meal was delicious. I will definitely be back again! It is a smaller restaurant so I don't know if I would go during the height of weekend crowds, but for a weekday lunch it was perfect!

What a great surprise! So much better than expected. I had the smash burger and it is definitely my new favorite burger in town. My coworker had the sword fish and it was incredible! I would go back just for that sword fish. Seriously. A must try. The staff is very friendly and outgoing. The place is small, with only a few tables and 2 very narrow bar tops for eating at. But that should not detour anyone. The food and ambience completely make up for the size. Note, unless I am missing something you have to park in a paid lot behind the building. read more

This is a great little place to enjoy some fresh great tasting fish. Lots of selections, a catch of the day, regular options and lots of healthy options. The fish was so fresh, it stands up there with Oceanside restaurants. And I live in North Myrtle Beach! So impressed with the friendliness of the staff and service. Open and quaint restaurant. Personable yet open with lots seating. And they have Outside seating with great views. read more
I've been wanting to eat at Red Perch for months now ... so when a friend visiting Nashville said they were in the mood for fish and chips, this was at the top of our list! Our group stopped in on Saturday night around 7 p.m. Parking was easy (and free!) in the nearby lot. We ordered at the counter, and while the menu is a little pricey, it was apparent when our food arrived that everything Red Perch is dishing up is very high quality. I also love that they carry Bravazzi -- which was a fun companion for my meal. I went with the Katsu Chicken Tacos, which are packed with flavor and texture! The chicken was perfectly crispy, the tortilla soft and warm, and the toppings fresh and bright. This was actually a very large portion size, and I was only able to finish two of the three tacos. My husband ordered the Cod and Chips, and I stole a few nibbles. We were both very impressed by the flakey batter and the housemade tartar sauce, and we'll definitely be back the next time we're craving fish and chips! read more

Worth the trip from Mount Juliet to sample these delicious Australian/Island inspired dishes. We ordered a smattering of things including their signature Cod & Chips, filet sandwich, and the grilled mahi plate. Hands down the Cod & Chips was amazing. The breading was flavorful and perfectly fried. The mahi was also exceptionally prepared. The white rice was just that, white rice, but the side salad it came with was surprisingly scrumptious. Honestly, the filet too was awesome. There wasn't a bad bite the entire lunch. Bonus, my wife and I each ordered a beer. She ordered the Vienna Lager from the local brewery Little Harpeth and found her new favorite brew. All in all it was a great lunch experience. Be prepared to spend some coin, the dishes add up quickly, but in this case you really get what you pay for...great tasting food! read more

Australian fish & chips, how I didn't know I needed you so in my life. Red Perch is an upscale, casual spot, located at the front of the new Sylvan Supply complex (ie parking is easy & plentiful!) The space itself is not huge (wouldn't come here with a group greater than 5), but there is indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of bar-style seating. One daily cocktail + a decent wine and beer menu, so you can get a lovely buzz on here. It was hard narrowing down what food to order - the menu is VAST with a lot of specials. With advice from the cashier, I got the fish filet (their fancier take on McDonald's filet o fish) with chips (fries) and the sourdough butterscotch pudding for dessert. I also got their cocktail of the day (gin, grapefruit, thyme - super delicious & refreshing!) First, this was the best fried cod I've ever had and having lived in Boston for 6 years, I've eaten a lot of cod. Their tartar sauce is homemade and while it makes the sandwich messy, is the perfect mix of tangy, creamy, crunchy to balance the lightly salty and crunchy of the fried cod. Now let's talk about those "chips" aka the best damn French fries I've ever had. Like, how dare they make something so tasty and crunchy and perfect and make me want 10 more orders of just fries? (And how dare they have not just ketchup but malt vinegar available for the fries... as every dining establishment should.) I thought perfection in my meal had already been achieved, but THEN they brought the most perfect bread pudding I've ever had. Warm, caramelized gooeyness, soaked delicious sourdough, raisins for a bit of tart (I think?), and a scoop of HOMEMADE vanilla bean ice cream slowly melting into the rest of it. This dessert was a work of art. Like, Michelangelo could only hope for perfection like this. Also Red Perch, if you're reading this, I need that ice cream available by the gallon, available for purchase. It's the best of its kind I've ever had. Anyway, come here. It's real good. read more

Went back and have to still rave about the Fish & Chips! They are light, delicious and consistently fantastic! But the Star on our last visit was the Shrimp Bahn Mi! Seriously it's amazing! The bread, fillings and shrimp were fantastic! Large portion as well and a must! read more

Parking is free in the lot. Walk towards Charlotte Ave and one of the entrances is next to/facing the sidewalk up the stairs. I was a bit confused cus I've never been before but I found my way eventually. You order at the counter and if drinking water, get your water at the next counter. I grabbed a whole carafe. Not sure if I was supposed to do that or not but the cups are small and I was thirsty. We ordered cod and chips and shrimp banh mi. Cod and chips were very tasty. Not too oily, fried just right, and decent portion size. The fries were delish. The tartar was different tho. It was rather herb-y. The shrimp banh mi was also enjoyable. It was huge. I didn't know how to really tackle it. The shrimp was gigantic but it was a little too oily mixed with the pickled veggies. So there was a lot of liquid ooze dripping out of my sandwich. It got pretty messy, especially since I added sriracha. Altho it was pretty good, the banh mi was missing pate. That's my fav part about banh mi but I understand that they weren't going for the more traditional Vietnamese banh mi feel. Also, staff is very friendly. I would love to come back. I especially want to try their paella on a day that they make it. read more
Riley was great and met us with a nice hello and then explained some of the menu items with specials of the day. The space is super inviting and comfortable with some outside sitting area. Order from the counter and they will take your food and drink to your table. We order the calamari with as stated on the menu lightly breaded and was very on point! Best calamari we've had since leaving Rhode Island! The flounder and chips were light and cooked to perfection. My wife enjoyed her poke (salmon) with seaweed salad and sweet white rice. I had a orange ale from Tailgate Brewing and she had a glass of blush wine. A perfect meal and great experience overall. Great perk is the 2 hour free parking at Sylvan Supply witch holds various other venues. Best of luck and we will definitely be back! read more

Ooooooooo weeeeeee! Chile somebody's trying to get married!! Yall.... fye fye fye!!! Just good! I saw the pictures on IG and yelp. The food just looked really good! But that neighborhood is so regentrified I just knew it would not have any taste or seasoning. But boy I was pleasantly surprised! I had the soft shell crab banh.... lordt I should have taken some devils lettuce before. Because that sandwich was so damn delicious! Talk about mouth orgasm! And I hate to say this and it may be a stereotype.. but most Vietnamese food is a mouth orgasm! But good God that sandwich was so good. Now if you really want to talk about a mouth orgasm.. those chicken tacos.. I can't say the actual name of them... LORDT!! Somebody... anybody take the wheel!! Whewww chile!! Sweet. Hot. Savory... just all of it!! I'm coming back! I need to try the clam, fish filet, chowder and poke bowls. But please Google the picture of their fish fillet! Poor Mickey D's I know they just feel all kinds of Shame after seeing theirs LOL why do y'all make them feel that bad with the pictures of those luscious fish fillets! Went for a late lunch a few minutes before 2pm on a Tuesday. Saw they had a happy hour menu that started at 2pm so waited a few minutes before ordering at the counter. It was pretty empty in there. I got the cod and chips with a pint for $13 before tax and tip. It was a nice day so I decided to sit outside on the patio. The dish was w but eve with tartar sauce but they had malt vinegar at the tables. My food came out piping hot. The batter on the fish was great and crunchy. The fries appeared to be seasoned and deep fried. I liked the fries okay. The flavor of the fish was great and didn't even require any of the sauces or the lemon. I would come back for some good fish and chips. Best I've had in Nashville. read more

Red Perch is really phenomenal. I'm blown away at the crispiness and flavor of the fish and chips, especially how the breading stays on and doesn't just fall off. The Caesar salad is great, a little salty. The dips are the only off thing...tartar sauce, aioli, just seem a bit TOO lemony for our palates, but it's probably just a personal thing read more
Not enough good things can be said about the food here. Everything we had was delicious and dishes combined flavors from different parts of the globe. Some things were simple, yet delicious like the filet of fish sandwich, while others were more complex, like the grilled shrimp Vietnamese style. read more

Stopped by here for dinner with a friend. Our meal was fantastic. The menu is seafood centric with a couple non-seafood protein options. Honestly everything sounded very good. I opted for the cog fish & chips and my friend got the fish sandwich. The portions were perfect (not small and not massive). The fries that accompanied our meals were yummy, and the fish was cooked to perfection. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. read more
Red perch is a small quick service-style restaurant with some great seafood. Best Banh Mi that I've had in Nashville. But the fish and chips were just so-so. The men behind the counter greeted us as we came in and happily guided us through their small menu. We ordered the fish and chips as well as the soft shell crab Banh Mi (that was a special). Fantastic. The fish and chips, which seemed to be their marquee menu item, were just okay. The fries, which are usually an afterthought, we're nice and crunchy. That was great. The coating was light. But there really wasn't much of any flavor at all. We had to douse it in vinegar. And though most of the fish was well-fried, there were a couple of spots that were extremely greasy. But the Banh mi was by far the star of the show. Incredibly good, and what a unique filling! I would have never thought that soft shell crab would work that well as a sandwich protein. I'd come back for the Banh Mi for sure. read more

To be honest, I've confused this place initially with another restaurant with "red" in the title that primarily serves brunch, so I haven't been here to visit until I went with a group who picked this spot after some other options were crowded or not open. I'm really glad that circumstances took me here, because Red Perch greatly exceeded my expectations! The restaurant is small and casual; it would be a nice, fast lunch spot if you work nearby and was also great for dinner, but we were a little cramped for 6 people if you can't sit outside. They offer wine and a few cocktails including a homemade froze. The froze was whiskey based and really good! it was sweet but not overly sweet and they offered a decent selection of wine. We started with the lumpia and calamari appetizers. The lumpia was cut up into bite sized pieces and served with a dipping sauce. The calamari was nicely breaded and fried with a sauce spread on the bottom to use. Both were really good and nice appetizers to share. I decided to get the katsu chicken tacos which were absolutely delicious. They were served with perfectly fried chicken with fresh herbs and a nice lightly dressed slaw, topped with fresh lime. They were really good and two filled me up perfectly, but came with three so I was able to share. I also sampled the grilled Vietnamese Shrimp which was flavorful and good, but quite messy to eat. I also tried the steamed mussels which were lacking in flavor and the biggest letdown. They were bland, which was odd since everything else we had was great. I came here to eat since I had seen so many reviews with five stars, and I have to say that I (almost) completely agree. We had to ask a person at another store for directions because it was kind of in a hidden place, but we were able to locate it. We had no issue finding seats inside on a Thursday at 6 PM, and it's extremely nice indoors. I was really amazed when I ordered the chicken katsu tacos. The tacos were dressed with tonkatsu sauce, kewpie mayonnaise and mint, among other things. My only reason for giving this place anything less than 5 stars is that they were stingy with the sauces. The tacos were really great (honestly the chicken is the star of the show) but they were lacking a bit of the saucey aspect we all love about a taco (well, any dish in general LOL) My recommendation is, def try this place and if you get the Katsu Tacos then ask for extra extra sauce! Loved them otherwise!! read more

We decided to have an impromptu business meeting for lunch, and we had never been here before, but we will definitely be back. The appetizers and the fish sandwich we're amazing. Make sure to try the calamari and lumpia! The service was very friendly and speedy, and even though you order and pay at the counter, they make sure you have fresh water and drinks thrift your visit...nice! Ambiance is a typical downtown bistro vibe.. this is centered around an Aussie fish-n-chips shop, and many of the menu items are Aussie-inspired! If you're looking for a fairly reasonably priced seafood meal quick in downtown Music City, check out Red Perch! read more

Great fish and chips place in Nashville! We stopped by for late lunch and shared a plate of Cod Fish and Chips, which was truly excellent. Cod was amazingly flaky, batter was crispy and frothy (Icelandic or Australian style) fries were absolutely perfectly cooked. Dish came with traditional tartar sauce and malt vinegar was at the table. We happened to come during their happy hour (2:00PM-5:30PM) and the fish and chips came with a free beer or a glass of wine, which was a great little treat. Wine was perfectly crisp and light for a hot day. From looking at the simple menu, this is a kind of a place that does what they do really well. Staff was friendly and meal came out quickly. Tips: Place is a little hard to find, as it's located on the second story of a retail complex without any particular directions available. Great fish and chips, great batter. Absolutely adore this place! Great service great food great ambience cannot go wrong whatsoever coming here. My husband and I drop by our first full day and Nashville we just moved here from Tampa. We came here for an early dinner or a late lunch after the movers finished dropping off our stuff. We ended up both getting fish and trips, but one of us got their signature dish with the cod and the other one got they are fish of the day which was great and I'm forgetting what the fish was but we had wonderful service. The fish actually comes with a beer which is awesome and they have the lightest and tastiest batter!!! it was so crisp and so good we will definitely be back- highly recommend. Also, the place was kept so clean. You could basically eat off the floor and the bathrooms were in impeccable condition. The entire staff was so incredibly nice. Everyone was friendly and helpful and kind each other, and there were obviously regulars who come frequently as a new people coming in by name! The area that they are in is very neat as well. I grew up 20min from the Gulf of Mexico and have lived in Nashville for 12 years. I haven't had better or more fresh seafood than I have had here. Guaranteed great time. Mason had great recommendations and his bodacious behind taught me to love again. read more
In West Nashville located in the hip Sylvan Supply adaptive re-use development conveniently close to I-40, it is worth the visit. Their restaurant space isn't huge but on our visit it was a nice day and they have outside seating on a narrow long balcony in front facing Charlotte Ave and the complex's courtyard has tables and chairs also. Their staff hustles but you can order in advance online to save time as this place was very popular on the Sunday afternoon of our visit. I lucked out and the Fish of the Day was Flounder. It tasted like it had just come out of the ocean. I have eaten a lot of fish and chips but never Australian style nor with Flounder. Red Perch has set a new high bar. The portion size was just right as I definitely wasn't left hungry and not too stuffed. Their fries were tasty. Everyone should be lucky enough to try this innovative take on Fish & Chips. read more

The Ahi poki bowl is so fresh and the flavors are exploding! I seriously could eat this every day. I've already been twice since last week. The staff is so friendly and I can tell that everything is made to order. It's a small space but there's also patio seating. And I must add that the playlist is always on point. read more
